Stop Bingeing and Start Eating Healthily Thread

Would anyone like to join me? I am a yo yo dieter, a failed WW (could not bear the small portions) failed SW (went wild on Free foods) and I eat too much of the wrong sorts of food. I binge then starve and I want to get out of that cycle. I also enjoy my evening 3 glass of wine a little too much! I feel bloated, pasty, tired and I hate how I look in the mirror. I am about to hit 40, and I refuse to spend any more time hating myself. I want to deal with my psychological food issues, and I want to finally be the woman I am meant to be.

I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 11 stone 3.

My aim- to increase fruit and veg. To cut out wheat as I bloat very badly on wheat. To take as much care over my own diet as I do over the diets of my children and my husband. To not treat my body like a rubbish bin.

As of this morning. I am tired. My skin is pale and blotchy. I am very bloated in the stomach. I am aiming to lose 24 pounds, but want to do it properly and without feeling deprived. I want to make this process luxurious, with a focus on gorgeous healthy food.

Today's plan:

Breakfast - fruit and natural yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

Lunch - home made carrot and coriander soup.

Dinner - fresh veg risotto.

I need ideas for delicious alcohol-free drinks. Currently I love a splash of grapefruit juice and soda water.

Anyone want to join me? The focus is on good food, and to deal with the psychological issues around bingeing and self hatred. I am not a psychologist, just someone who needs- and can offer support!

Weigh in days will be Mondays and Thursdays.

twinklestar2 · 09/04/2013 19:54

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 20:03

Well done smelliewellies

Happy anniversary twinklestar

I don't get much time to exercise so am hoping that breastfeeding will help to burn up some fat off my arse.

SmellieWellies · 10/04/2013 07:47

Congratulations twinkle!! Yes please, make us drool!!!

Menu today. I have decided to low-carb (the obvious carbs) this week also, to see if i can break the 10 stone 10 plateau.

Bk - asparagus omelette with a tiny smidgeon of cheese

Ln- fresh veg crudites and dips..... harissa paste mixed with natural yoghurt.

Dn - chicken soup, made with a clear broth and lots and lots of carrots and celery.

no alcohol.

I would usually weigh in tomorrow, but will weigh in Saturday am to give my body a chance......

Emilythornesbff · 10/04/2013 07:48

Day 2. 10st 0Lb 6oz.

SmellieWellies · 10/04/2013 07:53

You lost 3 pounds??!! Gosh. You must have been holding onto water I think and your body settled. :) I sometimes weigh myself two days in a row if unhappy and that happens too. :)

Do you have a menu plan for today?

SmellieWellies · 10/04/2013 07:54

Right. [hoiks up trousers] I am going to stop playing around and really put some effort into it now. Saw photos of myself yesterday....... grim.

Labootin · 10/04/2013 08:15

Smellie at least your trousers hoik

I am my own worst enemy

I love healthy food so why do I swerve that and binge on crap which I know will make me feel and look like shit

Starting again with a proper breakfast (late as didn't go to bed til 3.30am Hmm )

Emilythornesbff · 10/04/2013 08:28

Grin I know it was a fluke!
But still felt good.
Eating porridge with cinnamon and some grapefruit.
(ignoring the delicious aroma of toast )

Emilythornesbff · 10/04/2013 08:29

Love the hoiking smellie.

Good luck with today everyone.

twinklestar2 · 10/04/2013 23:23

Ooh I had salt and lime chicken wings, steak and brownie with ice cream yum yum! Back to reality today and have been in the gym!

Today's menu was

Fruit and yoghurt
Falafel wrap with soup
Fish and salad

Snacked on half a small Easter egg, a piece of baklava and a latte.

twinklestar2 · 10/04/2013 23:24

Mmm smellie can I have your chicken broth recipe, love chicken broth!

Emilythornesbff · 10/04/2013 23:52

Mmmm those chicken wings sound good.

Today was tricky (day 2 Grin there's no hope for me.) due to being so sleep deprived. But not bad
40 minute walk
Bfast: porridge (sweetened with cinnamon), grapefruit.
Lunch: 1 slice cheese on toast, apple, yogurt
Supper: spaghetti hoops with 1 veggie sausage, mini cornet to, options hot chocolate.
Snacks: walnuts.
1.5 litres water. (not drinking enough am I? )

SmellieWellies · 11/04/2013 08:13

Morning. I did not have a great day yesterday at all. Made sausages and mash for dinner and ate loads. Back onto it today. I self sabotage.

twinkle, more accurately i should say it is DH's chicken broth! When we roast a chicken, he puts the carcass into a pressure cooker with a couple of litres of water, carrots, celery and onion and pressure cooks for hours. Then strains, and puts the liquid on the hob and reduces that for ages until there is about a half pint left. So it is really chicken stock. Usually it is very very concentrated, but yesterday it was a little light, so I also added a knorr chicken jelly pot to it, and that made it very yum indeed!

Today,
b- fruit and yoghurt
l- cruds and dips
d - quorn tacos with all the trimmings!

calorie free drink day too! aiming for 5 pints of water.

Emilythornesbff · 11/04/2013 12:37

Today's menu sounds v healthy and light smellie.
I'll give that broth a go. I like. Asking soups and they're always more satisfying than one would expect.

I've just been shopping and abstained from crusty bread and an offering of chocolate rice kris pie squares.

BambieO · 11/04/2013 14:24

All of these menus sound so tasty! I was bad yesterday Blush I may have had a takeaway for dinner, had a long day we were at a funeral for a relative. I resisted all of the lovely food they had laid on in favour of a small portion of chicken and a tiny (5 pieces) bit of pasta so not all bad I suppose as that's all I had all day.

Back on it today, no breakfast, soup for lunch and a grilled chicken and salad pitta for dinner to try and make myself feel better!

SmellieWellies · 11/04/2013 15:43

here is where i admit I have already eaten two tacos (to 'test' them.) Hmm

and here is where i also admit i would kill for a glass of wine. (day off and hitting a mid afternoon slump).

I'm crap really.

Missenglish · 11/04/2013 16:10

Hi All!

I lost three stone since august last year and I feel amazing! Lots of my friends and family have asked how I have done it so I have put together a blog ( formerfatgirlsdiary.blogspot.co.uk/ )

Anyway, my focus is on normal and achievable tips and tricks to help people lost weight and to inspire and motivate them. Do you have any ideas I could share on my blog?

Thanks,

FormerFatGirl

twinklestar2 · 11/04/2013 18:45

fresh veg crudites and tzatziki
duck legs with sour cherry sauce and steamed veg, with skin removed.

Only just spied this thread, sounds just like me. Can I join? Have struggled with ED & body image for many years, 11m Dd who was EBF to 6m. Put on a horrible amount of weight while pg, was size 8 before, now large 12 Sad
I tend to be all or nothing - pig out, or live on lettuce, nothing in between. Dh good but doesn't understand. This may help if I can see your ideas & feel less of a freaky dieter.

Yay I've just figured out how to do the smilies - new to MN.

SmellieWellies · 12/04/2013 07:53

Welcome 50!

I understand struggling with ED and body image and being all or nothing. It is all so debilitating.

will you menu plan for today?

SmellieWellies · 12/04/2013 07:59

I am going to do that squat challenge, I think!
