Stop Bingeing and Start Eating Healthily Thread

Would anyone like to join me? I am a yo yo dieter, a failed WW (could not bear the small portions) failed SW (went wild on Free foods) and I eat too much of the wrong sorts of food. I binge then starve and I want to get out of that cycle. I also enjoy my evening 3 glass of wine a little too much! I feel bloated, pasty, tired and I hate how I look in the mirror. I am about to hit 40, and I refuse to spend any more time hating myself. I want to deal with my psychological food issues, and I want to finally be the woman I am meant to be.

I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 11 stone 3.

My aim- to increase fruit and veg. To cut out wheat as I bloat very badly on wheat. To take as much care over my own diet as I do over the diets of my children and my husband. To not treat my body like a rubbish bin.

As of this morning. I am tired. My skin is pale and blotchy. I am very bloated in the stomach. I am aiming to lose 24 pounds, but want to do it properly and without feeling deprived. I want to make this process luxurious, with a focus on gorgeous healthy food.

Today's plan:

Breakfast - fruit and natural yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

Lunch - home made carrot and coriander soup.

Dinner - fresh veg risotto.

I need ideas for delicious alcohol-free drinks. Currently I love a splash of grapefruit juice and soda water.

Anyone want to join me? The focus is on good food, and to deal with the psychological issues around bingeing and self hatred. I am not a psychologist, just someone who needs- and can offer support!

Weigh in days will be Mondays and Thursdays.

Went for a half hour run earlier.

Menu

Cheese on toast for brunch
Dinner was lamb steaks and salad
Snacked on fruit, some choc and just having a hot chocolate

I'm the same - not loads but not enough to lose weight!

Labootin · 08/04/2013 06:09

Morning all

The sun is shining here

Am going to aim high today ,

No alcohol lots of water
Salad for dinner
Go to bed at a decent hour

Off to eat my oats and berries

SmellieWellies · 08/04/2013 07:58

Morning! No sun where i am today. :(

I am also aiming high Labootin. No alcohol, crudites and dips for lunch and veg frittata again with salad for dinner.

I made a meal plan until Friday:

Tonight, as above

Tuesday - grilled chicken with broccoli and other veg

Wednesday - pasta with sundried tomatoes and chilli flakes

Thursday - grilled lamb chops with salad

Friday - crumbed tofu with broccoli and carrots.

Labootin · 08/04/2013 10:14

Week plan looks good (not sure about the crumbled tofu though !)

I haven't had lamb chops in ages might add that to my shopping list

I'm hungry (I usually eat at set times wether I'm hungry or not)

off for some lunch (tuna and salad sandwich)

SmellieWellies · 08/04/2013 10:19

Oh I love love tofu. Blush

I crumb it and then fry it like it is a scnitzel, with apple sauce on the side. Grin

My whole family seems to love it.,.... although they MAY be humouring me!

coolkat · 08/04/2013 12:05

I do a weekly meal plan - this week includes

Spaghetti bolognaise, jacket pot and sausage. Chicken tikka masala.

Back at work tomorrow so eating better is easier when I am there. Smile

twinklestar2 · 08/04/2013 12:13

Day off work today so I've just got up and got showered!

Brunch will be cheese on toast
Dinner is chicken fajitas and will try and make that homemade guacamole

SmellieWellies · 08/04/2013 13:32

mmm. fajitas....

[rethinks frittata]

Labootin · 08/04/2013 13:37

I'm hungry reading this thread Grin

Adds fajhitas to list

I don't think I've ever eaten tofu !

SmellieWellies · 08/04/2013 13:39

Tofu is addictive, I am convinced. I go through phases where we will eat it 3-4 times a week.

Labootin · 08/04/2013 14:07

Hmm perhaps considering my rather addictive personality I might give that one a swerve

It's 5pm the kids are playing in the pool, the sun is shining .. I,ve just been invited over a friends for "drinkies" i could murder. Cold glass of wine, but if I have one now I'll get the munchies..

Argh...

twinklestar2 · 08/04/2013 19:50

Smellie - thanks for the guacamole recipe, we had it tonight with fajitas it was lush!

SmellieWellies · 09/04/2013 07:28

Oh I am SO glad twinkle!!!!

I went off track last night in a major way. DH is away for a few days and after the Dcs went to bed i had a few glasses of wine and then had a bit of a meltdown. Things have been really tough lately- we are arguing alot, and my job has been awful. So it all got a bit much for me, and i ate an entire pack of pink wafer biscuits, drank 3 large glasses of wine, then had a port and then had two toasted cheese sandwiches. Feeling a little ropey this morning! I just have to get through another week and life will start to look a little better.

So, I am not yet out of my bingeing habits!!!! But, onwards and upwards. Today is another day. Lots of herbal tea and water as i am VERY dehydrated.

hope everyone has a good day!

BambieO · 09/04/2013 10:28

Ah sorry you are having a rough time smellie, it's horrible when everything seems wrong at once, it will all pick up :)

Good on you back on the wagon today, we are allowed to de-rail sometimes, needs must!

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 10:38

Oh shit, shit, shit!

Just weighed myself and at 10 st 3.5lb I am the heaviest I've ever been.
I'm only 5'4"

Is this the place for me?

Baby dd is 10 weeks old. (ebf)
Ds is 2.5 yo and I have to admit i used pregnancy as and excuse to eat like mad! Loads of shit (carbs mainly) biscuits, cake, etc.
I'm never going to be back in my size 8 jeans and my DH is going to run off with a slimmer younger woman (I'm forty fucking two nxt week!)
Frankly a 10 would be fabulous.
I know that a very low fat diet is not for me but the low carb thing is difficult to maintain when I find family meal planning such a headache at the best of times.
HELP! Is it possible to lose weight eating "sensibly"? It just seems
it's not harsh enough.

( knew I shouldn't have weighed myself) Sad

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 11:09

Right. That's it.
You're getting me in your club whether you like it or not.
My plan:
Increase water consumption
Stop taking sugar in my tea.
Avoid chocolate, cake, biscuits and crisps and other empty foods.
Minimise bread, pots, rice and pasta
Eat small portions of meals. NO SECONDS!

twinklestar2 · 09/04/2013 11:31

Welcome Emily! You can do this. 3 sensible meals and healthy snacks. What's your goal (apart from hub not running off with another woman Grin)

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 13:51

Grin thanks.

I think I'll set a goal of 8.5 stone and being able to comfortably do up a pair of size 10 jeans.

That seems realistic Hmm

Drinking water right now before my homemade puy lentil soup.

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 14:04

With no delicious homemade bread Sad

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 14:41

So today's food:

Omelette and yogurt for breakfast
Lental soup, banana, apple for lunch
Handful of walnuts for snack
1L water thus far
Dh making risotto for supper so I plan to have a small (tea plate ) portion of that.

Walked 1.5 miles pushing dd in pram
Feeling positive. (day 1 Grin )

Thanks for this thread.

SmellieWellies · 09/04/2013 15:42

Welcome Emily! (although Envy at you being 10 stone 3....... I dream of such numbers! Grin )

You are in the right place. :) Your menu sounds very good. i am also thinking about low-carbing. last time i did it i lost 5 pounds in a week, with very little effort, and this podgy tum went down too..... I have willpower issues though. Lentil soup- mmmmm.

I had coffee with people today and they kept asking if I have lost weight- I have not, according to the scales but I am more toned from all the walking.... I am in size 12 jeans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (with muffin top, and the button popped, but even so!!!!!)

Thanks Bambie for support. I am feeling better today. :)

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 17:56

Thanks for the welcome smellie (did you used to be snowy ?)
Great news about the jeans. Well done.
I can't completely low carb. There's too much effort involved in meal planning. But I think I'll be mainly avoiding high carbs and reducing portion sizes.
Fingers crossed.Smile

SmellieWellies · 09/04/2013 18:04

Hello! Yes, I used to be snowy. But, you know, winter is over now. Hmm Grin

SmellieWellies · 09/04/2013 18:12

Sadly too, my wellies are smellie. :(

Emilythornesbff · 09/04/2013 18:56

How have you done overall with your goals?
