Stop Bingeing and Start Eating Healthily Thread

Would anyone like to join me? I am a yo yo dieter, a failed WW (could not bear the small portions) failed SW (went wild on Free foods) and I eat too much of the wrong sorts of food. I binge then starve and I want to get out of that cycle. I also enjoy my evening 3 glass of wine a little too much! I feel bloated, pasty, tired and I hate how I look in the mirror. I am about to hit 40, and I refuse to spend any more time hating myself. I want to deal with my psychological food issues, and I want to finally be the woman I am meant to be.

I am 5 ft 2 and weigh 11 stone 3.

My aim- to increase fruit and veg. To cut out wheat as I bloat very badly on wheat. To take as much care over my own diet as I do over the diets of my children and my husband. To not treat my body like a rubbish bin.

As of this morning. I am tired. My skin is pale and blotchy. I am very bloated in the stomach. I am aiming to lose 24 pounds, but want to do it properly and without feeling deprived. I want to make this process luxurious, with a focus on gorgeous healthy food.

Today's plan:

Breakfast - fruit and natural yoghurt with a drizzle of honey.

Lunch - home made carrot and coriander soup.

Dinner - fresh veg risotto.

I need ideas for delicious alcohol-free drinks. Currently I love a splash of grapefruit juice and soda water.

Anyone want to join me? The focus is on good food, and to deal with the psychological issues around bingeing and self hatred. I am not a psychologist, just someone who needs- and can offer support!

Weigh in days will be Mondays and Thursdays.

I've managed to stick to my menu apart from a handful of crisps and a biscuit. Even refused a free Curly Wurly :)

BambieO · 04/04/2013 20:04

Check you out twinkle! Very impressive willpower, I do love a sneaky bit of chocolate. Well done for resisting!

SmellieWellies · 05/04/2013 08:07

Good morning! Well done on sticking to the plan twinkle!

My plan today,

Bk - yoghurt and fruit
Lunch - raw veg with hummus
Dinner - Indian takeaway- steamed rice, chicken tandoorie, grilled lamb and a side salad

will be sharing a bottle of wine with DH tonight but aim to have just two glasses and let him enjoy the rest.

will walk all lunchtime. I am always tempted to work through, but today I am determined to walk instead.

twinklestar2 · 05/04/2013 09:23

Hey ladies - sorry slipped off the thread then been away for Easter. Had eaten too much but have also done lots of exercise so will be back with you tomorrow Smile (if you'll have me!)

Will try and catch up x

BambieO · 05/04/2013 22:04

Welcome back :) hope you had a lovely break!

SmellieWellies · 06/04/2013 08:08

Welcome back Coolkat!

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend. I did quite well last night with the Indian takeaway- kept to my plan to have tandorrie meats only and salad.

Today

meant to be an alcohol-free day but DH brought home these gorgeous looking dressed crabs yesterday from Morrisons and is muttering about crab, crusty bread and white wine for dinner....... maybe just 1 glass then and AFD tomorrow and Monday to compensate (and two veg days to compensate too!). Otherwise it will be yoghurt and fruit for breakfast and crudites and dip for lunch again. I have been eating mounds of hummus though, so still quite calorific, so today plan to mix harissa paste with natural yoghurt and have that as a dip instead. I have been eating SO many raw vegetables, and have really enjoyed it. The only problem is that I get really hungry again at about 4 pm so need to prepare myself for that and choose fruit or something.

Hoping for a good long walk today as well.

How is everyone doing? We have sun finally here!

SmellieWellies · 06/04/2013 08:09

I've stayed within cals but food has been bad!

Menu

Bacon, eggs and beans

Handful of crisps and a cream cake

Chicken Kiev with salad

Labootin · 07/04/2013 05:39

Ooooo I feel all warm and fuzzy and loved (and I'm not even drunk)
it's half past 8 here, dh has gone to work

I've had a cup of tea and I'm off to plan my healthy productive day with new vigour and purpose.

Housekeeper is on holiday for 3 weeks (wail) and there was a massive sandstorm last night, there is dust and crap EVERYWHERE, oh GOD I'm going to have to do some SODDING housework

[cries dramatically]

SmellieWellies · 07/04/2013 08:26

Sigh, I LOVE chicken Kiev!

Think of all the cals you will work off doing housework Labootin (looks on bright side.... I have a housework day ahead of me too!).

Veg and alcohol-free day for me today

B- yog and fruit

L- crudites with guacamole (okay, not low-fat but the avocadoes need eating!)

D - planning for an asparagus frittata with salad.

5 pints of water.

coolkat · 07/04/2013 10:46

Right day 1 today!

Had breakfast as do not normally so that - coco pops so not great but better than could have been!

Lunch flat thin things with ham and coleslaw and a banana.

Dinner - was doing a roast but have a children's party mid afternoon so will be veg and something quick.

Trying to stay active Thanks

coolkat · 07/04/2013 10:47

Ps lab - feel your pain we have builders in and I come down every morning to a fresh layer of dust - arghhh (only another 7 weeks!)

twinklestar2 · 07/04/2013 11:38

Smellie do u make your own guacamole? If yes can I have the recipe? I don't like avacado but they are good for women ttc so I should start having them.

SmellieWellies · 07/04/2013 12:19

Hi Twinkle, I do make it myself. I mash avocado with lemon juice, add small diced fresh tomatoes and add salt and a few drops of tabasco. Sometimes I will mix it with cream cheese as well for a smoother taste. If I do not use cream cheese I occasionally add chopped coriander also.

If you do not like the taste, then avocados can be good used in the place of butter, or mayo, and the other fillings mask the flavour a bit.

Good luck!!

twinklestar2 · 07/04/2013 14:34

Thx for the recipe, will try that!

Labootin · 07/04/2013 19:41

Have been good (ish)

tea and biscuits for lunch (ok that's the ish bit over)

Tuna sandwich for lunch

Shepherds pie and brocolli for dinner

House is clean (if you ignore the upstairs) and tidy (if you discount the children's bedrooms)

I ironed

I am now sitting watching Yes Minister with a rather strong g and t [homesick Brit emoticon]

Labootin · 07/04/2013 19:41

Coolkat what are you having done ?

coolkat · 07/04/2013 19:59

A few walls knocked out Internally and an extra bedroom above the garage which is also being converted - sure it will be great when it's done but hate mess Confused

Ok day No major bingeing which is why I want to avoid. Dinner was lots of veg, turkey and a small amount of cheese sauce.

Lunch flat bread thing but had fun size crunchie for pudding.

Also had one of those caramel Danone pots 100ish cals.

Not enough to lose weight but not enough to put on Sad.

I haven't sat down all day though as been cleaning and hoovering and sorting stuff out ready for a fresh week of building mess! and I went for a walk.
