Hi all, I joined slimmig world yesterday as I finally ready and motivated to get this weight off. Anyone else? Is there a support thread for those following slimming world? As I couldn't see one on here. If not anyone interested in helping to support each other here?

I did this week imnota? Hmm Haven't quite worked it out yet. All my meals have been SW friendly but I've had biscuits, vodka, dairy milks, caramels Blush One of the women did make a point of if I can eat like that and still lose, how did I ever get fat lol!!! Lots more Bs this week, I struggle to ever have my A but am making options with milk rather than water and saying the milk is my A Grin

Vagazzled · 15/01/2013 16:18

And well done tinder! The sustainability is what I Envy about SW. My friend has just started the Special K diet, she has a lot to lose but won't listen that SK diet is meant for a 6 week push in the summer, not a 6st journey HmmYou sound so enthusiastic Thanks

Blondeshavemorefun · 15/01/2013 16:34

Envy @ vag - but tbh weight does do up and down so not the end of the world if you lose a lb or two - as sure next week/week after you will gain - thought once you reach target you can hoover a few lbs either side of it

well done tinder :)

Vagazzled · 15/01/2013 17:54

I am target blondes, hit it last ween and have gone 3lb straight under so need to have a serious think wether I can healthily lower my target... Or have some deliberate gains!! Blush

Imnotaslimjim · 15/01/2013 18:11

I can understand their thinking lol, but I bet you'll have a gain next week, i've found it can sometimes "catch up"

I maintained Sad shouldn't be too shocked after what I've eaten the last 2 days (biscuits, cake and custard and mince pies) but was keeping my fingers crossed for a loss

Ah well, have made my 12 speed soup and will be having that all week, so should see a good loss next week

noyouhavehadawee · 15/01/2013 19:10

Oh well done Tindertree i was looking out for first weekers like myself to see how gutted i can be tomorow when i dont ha! I am weighing in tomroow morning 9.30am - will report back tomorow night, tonight it was quorn meatballs with pasta, ive been good all day though dh is out till 8 at work and the temptation is killing me - must stay strong! I dontunderstand the maintaingn thing just yet vagazzled so dont think i am being ignorant i just havent given that aspect any thought Confused

beanandspud · 15/01/2013 20:16

Just checking in...

Well done Tinder - that's a great start. I needed that first week loss to keep me going and prove that I didn't have some obscure metabolic condition that was preventing me from losing weight ever again Grin

Will keep my fingers crossed for you noyouhavehadawee! TBH I haven't given any thought at all to maintenance, I'll worry about it in several months when hopefully I am closer to where I want to be.

I have survived a few days away with work which is always more difficult than eating at home. Turned up for meetings with a 'picnic' of fruit, yogurt and Alpen bars much to everyone's amusement. DH made a chickpea, spinach and sweet potato curry tonight which was only 2 syns a portion and very, very good.

tigerdriverII · 15/01/2013 21:30

Checking in too. Had my weigh in tonight. -2.5! Delighted, and averaged out it means from Xmas I've lost 1lb. Not stellar but going ok. Now just got to work out how to lose and have three lunches out in a row. One with no choice, a posh set meal. I suspect I'll be pushing the food about and hiding it under the cutlery....

BadRoly · 15/01/2013 23:19

Well done you losers Grin except for Vagazzled (?) - someone has your problem at our group but has been told she has to drop her target by 7lb which she feels is too much Hmm

I have had 2 days of full on self sabotage Confused cakes, chocolates, biscuits - a proper binge. I think it is the return to reality with some of the Christmas crap left over.

In my head, if I eat all the Christmas cake/tin of heroes/tin of biscuits now it will all be over and done with. And really I won't buy or bake anymore. No really.Confused That'll be why I'm fat then Wink

Ah well, weigh in tomorrow morning for me...

laughalot · 16/01/2013 09:46

Hi can I sneak my lardy bum in and join please Smile. I started last monday stepped on the scales and nearly cried 14 stone 5lb . Got weighed this week and lost 4lb. I am following slimming world but not doing the classes im weighing myself at boots every monday. I want to be slimmer for my holiday in early July.

BadRoly · 16/01/2013 10:01

2lb off so I've lost my first stone Grin

Imnotaslimjim · 16/01/2013 11:29

Well done on all the losses so far this week, you're all doing brilliantly!! Badroly its amazing how much we can convince ourselves that we've oversynned enough to gain, and then get a shock at the results on the scales! I'm currently having therapy to help me learn that all food is just that, there is nothing good or bad, and I don't have to feel fuilty about eating!

BadRoly · 16/01/2013 11:57

imnotaslimjim you are so right! I tell the children there is no such thing as bad food - just bad portion size! And I do believe that, I have just never got to grips with the portion but of it Grin but I am getting there slowly! I probably scoffed 5-8 Heroes last night at Brownies but then stopped. In the past I would have kept going...

Imnotaslimjim · 16/01/2013 13:30

Thats it totally. I only started this week and I know its going to be a long process for me (I was raised by a prolific yo-yo dieter) but I know I'll get there

Well done on stopping, I'm not sure I would have done...........

BadRoly · 16/01/2013 13:54

I only stopped because Brownies finished and I came home and put children to bed so 'broke' the mindless picking... But I stopped and that makes me very happy Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2013 16:50

slimjim - well done for sts

noyouhave - good luck with wi today

beanandspud - that curry sounds yum, whats the recipe please

tiger - fab loss well done

roly - bad girl for binging, on sw you are allowed treats so have a choccy biscuit/cake each day, dont deny or you will binge but well done for loss, how did you manage that Envy

laughalot - waves' hello you, glad you found me us :) good loss

noyouhavehadawee · 16/01/2013 18:02

Wowzers and welcome laughalot (i too am not going to an actual group) so today ...... i weighed my self and i have lost 6lb - this is at the end of my first week!!! I cant beleive it - i am using proper medical scales so no cheating and had a collague double check i wasnt dreaming it. I am amazed, i am expecting to lose diddly squat next week but will continue Grin.

SalaciousCrumb · 16/01/2013 18:08

Hi all, I'd like to join you.

I've had some success with slimmers world before, but keep falling off the wagon :(

Have 2 stone to lose and would like to lose a stone by Easter.

Good to catch up with some friends blondes and laugh a lot and look forward to chatting to rest of you (I was Trimmer).

beanandspud · 16/01/2013 19:13

Hello laughalot and crumb - welcome to the madhouse!

Well done Roly - that's a great milestone!

Curry recipe...

Boil 100g of sweet potatoes (cubed) for about 10mins until soft. In another pan stir together a 400g can of tomatoes, a tin of chickpeas, 1/2 teaspoon of chilli flakes and 2 tablespoons of curry paste. Simmer for about 5mins.

Drain the potatoes and add to vegetable mixture, stir in about 100g baby spinach leaves and wilt. Stir in coriander and seasoning and serve with rice.

It's 4 syns in total (for the curry paste) so not too bad and v tasty.

Very sad work lunch - I sat there with plain pasta and salad from the buffet whilst everyone else had fish 'n' chips Sad. It's those sort of things I hate, particularly when it's commented on but there really wasn't much choice at all.

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2013 20:14

i am also doing it alone, as i said earlier i refuse to pay each week for someone to weigh me, plus work weird shifts days/eves/nights so wouldnt be able to go to same class so scales/wi would be different

yah to crumb - good to see you and laughalot again - we will suceed this year eh gals x

noyou, well done, fab loss

beans thanks for recipe, sounds so simple ............... - wonder if can make without the curry paste, or would it taste naff - where do i even buy curry paste from - if i ever make a curry i use a jar of korma sauce Blush

beanandspud · 16/01/2013 22:22

Blondes you can easily get curry paste from the supermarket, it's in a jar next to the ready made sauces. We usually use a madras but I should think you can get a korma.

I'm going it alone too. The thought of a group and a public weigh-in brings me out in a cold sweat. I also work daft hours and all over the place so I would struggle to commit to going each week. This thread is great though, we should keep a running total of how much we've lost as a group since New Year, it must be a couple of stone by now?

Blondeshavemorefun · 16/01/2013 22:44

Thanks bean :) will have a look and guess I could add some chicken as dont think oh would eat a veggie curry plus chicken is free on ee :)

Tindertree · 17/01/2013 00:05

Thanks all, and well done everyone else on such great losses Smile

Welcome laughalot and crumb too.

I've tried this before a few times, but this time I think my head is in the right place. Trying not to get too syn-happy after my loss - I'd love another 2 off this week. Good luck everyone for the next lot of weigh ins!

ThatBintAgain · 17/01/2013 09:55

Well done everyone!

I've lost 3.5lbs in total in the last two weeks. It's going in the right direction but very Envy of all of you who manage to get bigger losses! At this rate it's going to take me aaaages to get a stone off. Sad

SalaciousCrumb · 17/01/2013 09:59

Hi all, I did not have a good day yesterday. The dc's school was closed yesterday, made muffins with dd, ate xmas left over tortilla chips Blush and was generally snacking on non free food/superfree. Far too much Blush

But I am putting it behind me.

Had breakfast 2 boiled eggs and soldiers. Lunch will be jacket potato and beans with salad. Some fruit mid morning as 2nd part of my breakfast.

Bean thanks for the curry recipe. I am veggie - chick peas are very filling and will stop the munchies.

Tindertree I'm the same, tried before. Hope we can support each other; there will be falling off wagons from time to time!
