New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

There's no peas on the list

Cocole - no idea re bean sprouts. Peas are full of sugar that's why kids like them. I have full fat Greek yoghurt for breakfast, lidl do a great one, or total is good. Or have boiled eggs ready in fridge, good for brekkie and snacking on too.

Coco
Breakdfast ideas

Boiled eggs cooked night before with dollop of mayo or Boursin
Full fat Greek yoghurt (after Bootcamp you can add berries)
Ham rolled up with full fat Philly inside
Leftovers from night before
Lots of European countries have savoury breakfasts its just changing yr mind set
I also eat omlette a and fry ups where I can Xmas Wink

Bean sprouts - can eat Them raw in a salad. Make sure you add full fat mayo or a dressing to your salad. The fat makes you feel full ( and it won't make you fat!!!)

Peas and sweet corn both high in sugar. This is only the first two weeks to break our sugar addiction remember.
Those of us who were suffering with candida have found symptoms have gone completely on this woe as well as PMT suffs reported massive benefits.

G'wan you know yu want to

Coco, off the top of my head, breakfast quickly includes:

Ham with Philly
Smoked salmon (with Philly if you like)
Hard boiled eggs with celery salt
Any boiled eggs mashed with butter / boursin
Smoked mackeral
Leftovers
Caponata
Pate on cucumber

The list goes on. If you like food, you will never go hungry or indeed get bored on this WOE. Promise.

Mushrooms are a great thing to substitute toast for, ie, they sop up the egg yolk on fried eggs nicely. Believe me, after 2 weeks on this you will not want toast. It will still smell nice but the taste will not be what you remember.

I'm in, would like to lose 1 stone, I am 5ft6in
And would like to weigh 10stone please :)

I train a lot, run every second day and cycle too,
will my body cope without the carbs for energy?

Report
MulledwineGless · 30/12/2012 10:32

Yes you may need to give it a couple of days as some people have carb flu on day 3-5 depending on how carb reliant you were before. Your body will switch o fat burning rather than carb burning very quickly

Have a look t this guys blog here

I would love to join. Currently 14 stone with yeast issues and insulin problems and a definite carb and sugar addiction

Thanks everyone Smile

I hate mayo and Greek yohurt Grin

I could eat hard boiled eggs til they came out of my ears though.

The ham as a wrap is a great idea.

I only like cheese coleslaw, is this ok?

Sorry about all the questions, you'll be sick of me before the 7th.

And toast doesn't fill you up in the way that a plateful of bacon and portobello mushrooms does!

The key to this WOE is to be organised, plan your meals ahead and drink loads of water. No one has mentioned the water yet. You need to drink loads of water so that your kidneys are hydrated, leaving your liver to zap your fat. If you don't drink enough water then your liver starts compensating and doesn't burn as much fat. Well that's how I understand it!! And it's WATER, not coffee, tea, fizzy drinks and definitely NO fruit juice.

Running to the loo every five minutes helps with the fat burning too Xmas Smile

BIWI is the Briffa talk still on for 27th Jan?

Report
MulledwineGless · 30/12/2012 10:38

Cheese coleslaw fine- BIWI has a list of carb count of coleslaw sure she will be along soon. You could make your own?

Do you like Boursin?
Salami as a wrap too is yummy

Also instead of using bread for sandwiches use lettuce as the wrap.

Recipe thread for more ideas here

Key to this or first few weeks is meal planning and having low carb snacks in, plus drinking ALL your water

I do drink a lot of water, I always have a bottle on the go in work, so that's at least one good thing I do!
I gave gone completely wheat free and sugar free before. I was very ill when I was about 20, chronic fatigue, gynae problems, muscle/joint problems. I went to an oestopath who is a bit woo as well, and she told me to come off sugar. I was better with 2 months after being ill for nearly 6 months.

I get the occassional intolerance to wheat, if I've been ill and o'd on it. I do try to stick to wholemeal.

I'm in! Not sure how much I weigh, but I can tell I'm approaching the weight I was at my biggest a couple of years ago (13 stone). I lost 3.5 stone doing the Idiot Proof Diet, but it's crept back on. I shall weigh myself before we start though.
