New Year Low Carb Bootcamp

1000 replies

BIWIshYouAMerryChristmas · 29/12/2012 21:30

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas, and that Santa brought you everything that you deserved! Xmas Grin

By now, I'm guessing that many of us will be rather tired of chocolates and stodgy food. Mince pie anyone? Xmas Wink

So. The next low carb Bootcamp will be starting on 7 January. It will run for 10 weeks, which will take us to mid-March. The idea of Bootcamp is that we have an initial strict fortnight, which will see a significant amount of weight loss, followed by a more relaxed 8 weeks.

Overall, if you follow the rules, you can expect to lose anything up to 20lbs in this time period.

So who is in?

If you want to join us, add your name to the list and tell us what your aims/objectives are.

I will start ...

I'd love to join. I need to lose around 6 stone but I'd be happy with 4 stone and we all have to start somewhere. I've not tried low carb before as I always find myself craving pasta, potatoes and bread so I'm sure this will be difficult (but worth it).

Can anyone tell me the rules so I can plan ahead and be less scared? Can someone do this without a big budget because I couldn't afford the mass amounts of meat for Dukan.

I have actually found that my portions of meat are smaller. and whilst i spend more on basic veg etc I save on the pasta and bread sides of things. But i am not very adventurous in my cooking habits. Others might have better advice on this Icovet

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 30/12/2012 01:19

I'm in :)
I'm a low carbing non-meat eater though so hope that's ok. Followed the Rose Elliot book last year and lost 1.5 stone. Fallen off the wagon somewhat but not put any of it back on so would like to kick off again in Jan and lose another 1.5 stoneSmile

dickiedavisthunderthighs · 30/12/2012 01:21

Would somebody mind adding me to the list as I'm on my phone?

Bessie123 · 30/12/2012 01:46

I'm in, too. Would like to lose 1.5 stone of fat from dc2 pregnancy and half a stone from recent unsuccessful pregnancy. So 2 stone Shock. I don't eat meat; how easy will this bootcamp thing be?

Hello all, I am very much wanting to join you all in this. I don't have any scales though, so may have to find some to weigh myself! I want to drop at least a dress size, I'm currently a size 12 (sometimes a 14 depending on where I am). I want to get down to a 10-12 before summer :-)

TheHumancatapult · 30/12/2012 06:59

If that's ok can I carry on dipping I'm and out . I have 2 stone 6lb to loose to get to what's been my goal weight of 10 stone am 5.7 may adjust lower that as get nearer I meds drop the dirt coke as allowed myself few over Xmas as don't drink

But on flip side since Mid June I have lost 7 stone 8lb so LC is defintley way to go for me and when fell of wagon beginning Dec I made self really feel Ill .

I have break to Butlins in April then the big trip September which was what kick started this all of

Can't add to list as on phone Sorry

TheHumancatapult · 30/12/2012 07:00

Need not meds

MrsHerculePoirot · 30/12/2012 07:27

I'm in - especially after that inspiring weight loss by thehumancatapult above! On phone though so can't copy and paste at mo!

Ilovemyteddy · 30/12/2012 07:29

I'm in. Have lost 5 stones this year thanks to this wonderful thread and the John Briffa book (although a few pounds may have gone on over Christmas.)

Want to be 10st 7lbs so 7lbs to go + Christmas weight.

Can't add myself to the list as I'm on my phone.

TheHumancatapult · 30/12/2012 07:41

Mrs HP

It's been a slog and have been mega strict bar attempt fall of in Dec also I don't eat gluten at all and hardly any dairy either but well it's been worth it and I feel by September when fly to Wdw I will happily be at my goal weight

sybilfaulty · 30/12/2012 08:46

Hello old and new bootcampers!

I am looking forward to the thread. I lost 1st 10lb in the last 6 months (but may have a few lbs back on over the holidays) and am looking to lose another stone to lose my back fat etc. That would take me to the slimmest I have been since being an adult. It would also mean size 10 -12 clothes which would be unheard of for me.

Am on phone so can't add myself to the list. Could a kind person add me please?

Is the pre bootcamp chat going to carry on here or on other thread?

Thanks to BIWI for her stick and Willie for the spreadsheet. Llooking forward to LC chat and support over the winter months.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 30/12/2012 08:49

Have spectacularly fallen off the LC wagon, could someone please add me to the list, I need to be on it. Thanks lovely BIWI.

WillieWaggledagger · 30/12/2012 09:27

I am more or less at goal weight (well I was - I few lbs have definitely gone on over the last week!) but after years of disordered eating I need the support to keep up this WOE. Also the two weeks of proper bootcamp shakes away the bad habits that creep in so easily!

This bootcamp will see me get to a year of proper low carbing (in February)

Welcome to all the new joiners - it is tough initially, but once you get into the swing of low carbing you really do feel fab

EwanHoHoHozami · 30/12/2012 09:27

Hello carb-dodgers old and new

I've been on this WOE since August and have lost a stone-and-a-half and two dress sizes.

I'm 5'8" and 10 stone 12 and my target weight is 10 stone 4. These last pounds are going to be tough, I think.

I'm doing it for two main reasons, physical and mental health (what better reasons are there?!) I have ongoing hip problems from lingering SPD and being lighter is helping massively with easing the pain and pressure on my joints. I'm also prone to a spot of depression and ditching the sugar has almost zapped the mood swings. It's also quite cheering to look at my reflection and see less podge.

The support here is fab. You can ask anything, post up your meal plans, link to blogs and dresses and enthuse over the joys of Lidl.

Looking forward to it!

Doshusallie · 30/12/2012 09:28

Hi all. Will be about but weighed this morning and 2 days of strict lc'ing sees me back nearly at ideal weight (9 1) so just maintaining. Last 2 days have been an experiment in "does dairy stall me?". Result = no!!

Looks like you are going to be busy BIWI......Xmas Grin. Happy to help answer questions where i can (no expert) if that helps.

Me too, me too! I have never got down to my pre-pregnancy weight and the youngest just turned 2 Blush

I'm keen to lose just over a stone and have family weddings this year to aim for. Plus the benefit of having a whole lot of clothes in my wardrobe which have been far too small to fit into are just a bit tight...

Me I am in.

I joined the first Bootcamp back in April and have lost close to 3 stone. I would like to lose another stone during the next Bootcamp.

Could someone add me to the list please. I am old and can barely read my phone never mind c&p.

cocolepew · 30/12/2012 10:10

Stuid questions time (there may be many, brace yourselves)

  1. Beansprouts. If using them in a salad do you have to cook them first? I've only ever had them in a stir fry.
  1. What the chuff can I have for breakfast? Current one is 6 Rich Tea and butter Blush
I gave 15-20 minutes to make and eat it on work days. I don't know if I could face scrambled eggs without toast that early.

Thank you Smile.
