Ps - i like the look of the mobile site. Seems easier to use than the app!

I don't know if it's a better one but it's easy and tasty :). It's an american recipe so uses oil rather than butter but it makes it very moist. It's quite a runny mixture too so be careful if you're using loose bottom tins!

Carrot Cake

175g Plain Flour
2 teaspoons Bicarbonate of Soda
1 teaspoon Salt
300g Sugar
2 heaped teaspoons Cinnamon
240ml Sunflower oil
2 large Carrots (peeled and grated)
4 Eggs

Sift flour, bicarb., salt, sugar and cinnamon into a bowl. Add oil and mix well. Add eggs and blend together. Add carrots and stir well. Bake at 180C; middle shelf in an 8? cake tin for 45-60 mins. Leave to cool.

225g Icing sugar
6 triangles Laughing cow cheese (approx. 100g any cream cheese)
1 teaspoon Vanilla essence

Sift icing sugar into a bowl add the cheese and vanilla and mix well until it is well blended with no lumps. Spread over the cooled cake.

Morning everyone - am loving the carrot cake recipe but think I need to hold off as my weigh in today tells me I have gained a pound.

I have gone off the boil with mfp and need to get back on it, as I was feeling so good about myself. We keep having friends over for dinner / lunch at the weekend so I cook lardy delicious food and seem to think that it doesn't count if it's the weekend, or if I am eating with lots of other people! Hmmm, not sure my logic is quite right!

I don't think it's meant as a mfp recipe lisbapalea, it was from a question about RGPargy's baking for others from the old thread :) Try dishing up a smaller portion so you can keep the calories low and still eat the nice food.

Just wondered if you were drowning your new svelt figure in too big clothes that was stopping others from noticing MonsterBookOfTysons :)

Arse. My carrot cake sunk in the middle :( I checked it after the specified time but it was nowhere near ready so back in for another 10 mins (twice) by which time my oven opening had made it sink. Oh well, thankfully no one is paying me for it and it is just as a favour for a gym friend! They should be grateful for anything they get! lol Wink

Well done on the size 10, Monster!! That's fabulous! :o

Having an Indian take away tonight with a friend. What should I order etc to not through me off?

I have 1000 calories left today - but I may have a cuppa and a biscuit before then!!!

Have just pushed phil and teds round the block taking 1/2 hour at fast pace. What do you think that burns off?

Report
Sparklingbrook · 25/09/2012 15:23

Isn't it best to go for dry indian stuff, and steer clear of the sauces?

Report

I could never have an Indian. Korma is my curry of choice and I can't have an Indian without having loads of naan bread and onion bajis (sp)
Well done on the size 10!! That's what I'm aiming for. 14/16 just now.

Hermione

DH says the Hairy dieters ones (korma/jafrazzi) are nice. I've made then for him as I don't like them.

Well I weighed myself. Sad There are 11 more pounds of me than I had guessed. Even more to lose. Gutted. Sad

I have a great recipe for a low cal and low fat diet. In fact, with cauli-rice too the whole thing is about 350 cals per portion and is very scrummy!!

Well done OnlyWantsOne, what did you have in the end? I was going to say something that I say quite often so I didn't say it again. I genuinely believe that you can eat what you want if you just cut down on portions. Share a rice with someone else, don't eat lots of side dishes and have lean meat in the curry. I always have vegetable dishes when I go, not for calories but because I prefer them and I feel it's a bit more authentic. We were planning to take the boys to an indian restuarant for the first time as they all love curry at home but that will have to wait now as I'm loosing so much income with my broken foot!

Sorry you feel Sad about that Sparklingbrook but it just means you have a new starting point and nothing else. It might make your journey slightly longer but you can do it and don't let it knock you off course and stop your good work.

Sorry to have led you astray RGPargy, perhaps my oven is a bit warmer or my tin is wider than the recipe says so cooks quicker!

Thanks cinnamon. I have been on MFP for a week so thank goodness I didn't weigh last week. Sad

I am even more determined now. At least I can be sure that's the heaviest I will be. Looking forward to next Wednesday to see some progress.

Cinnamon - oh don't be silly, it's completely not your fault! I know that everyone's ovens are different. Mine can be a little temperamental so it's all a learning curve for me and my oven :o

Blush waves hoping she may be remembered a little Wink and welcome back?!

cinnamon thank you for message Smile

I am hoping to get back in to MFP from Monday.

Sadly I have had a rough couple of long months.

Started with work related stress but am thinking that was a distraction and currently I have asked my oh to leave was a hard decision to make but sadly it had to happen for my emotional wellbeing and for us to try and be happy for our children, but yep not going as planned Sad and is very up and down at home whilst he is still living here.

I have managed, not sure how but to maintain my previous weight loss of 3 stone but still have 3 to go.

I need to start running again to help with my mind set and for a chance to breathe on a evening even just for 30mins.

Am aiming small to start with and hope to lose 1 stone before the 14th December Blush

Well I am going to aim to read new part 5 thread ready for my logging on Monday Smile

Hope it was tasty anyway RGPargy!

I have been to hospital today and had my cast off. I've got a boot with a huge heel so I can't walk on the broken part but its more of a shuffle than a walk! I have no cast and the boot is removable so it means I can have a shower and may be able to swim if I can figure out the logistics of getting in the pool! X-ray in two weeks and then fingers crossed I can walk properly :). Then I'll start thinking about running, obviously after talking to dr.
