A shiny new thread for existing users of mfp and for anyone new who would like to join us for support, bottom kicking and general chatting :)

Got it and just had a quick look at evening meal recipes. I will second Bora's recommendation, very tasty, easy dishes that all the family would like. Thanks again Bora, I had been running out of healthy dish ideas!

RGPargy · 23/01/2013 16:50

Oh crumbs!!! Lost you all!! Bookmarking! :o

Cyrli · 23/01/2013 20:22

I've decided that I have to join you here. I've used MFP before and lost over a stone but then got pregnant and put on about 4 pounds. Unfortunately I lost the baby at 11 weeks in october and since then I have put on another 7 pounds.

We're ttc now but no joy yet so might as well try and loose the extra that Ive put on. I'm aiming for 2 pounds a week until whenever I get a BFP.

If anyone wants to add me on MFP my name on it is sianig.

BoraBora · 23/01/2013 20:27

Cyril, welcome. Really sorry for your loss.

Cyrli · 23/01/2013 22:44

Thanks Borabora, it's been a difficult time and it's not a big suprise that the weight has gone back on.

You mentioned the nhs for life app- is it an android app or only for iphones?

Chopstheduck · 24/01/2013 05:47

Hi Cyril, have added you on MFP. So sorry for your loss and good luck ttc xx

LittleAbruzzenBear · 24/01/2013 07:29

Hi Cyril. I have added you too. So sorry for your loss.

I'm not sure if the app is just for i-phones/pads, but as it's NHS and free, I should imagine it must be available elsewhere. I'm finding MFP really useful and it helps me understand just how good or bad certain foods are. I have tried fad diets in the past and always put the weight back on, but this time I am just going back to good old portion control and sticking to 1-2 glasses of wine a week. Everyone here is friendly, supportive and helpful.

Just an idea, but I was wondering if a MFP recipe thread would be useful?

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 09:03

Morning all.
Welcome Cyrli or Cyril as you seem to have been renamed on here. Grin
Sorry for your loss. I'm not surprised you have out a few pounds on, I know it's a very difficult time. We are all very friendly on supportive on here.
I'm going to go and look at this NHS site, it sounds good.
I am a fan of the bbcgoodfood site. There is an app for the phone/ iPad or there is a good website with lots of recipes on.
I really struggled yesterday because I was having a difficult day at work. Normally, I would have coped by eating chocolate as I am an emotional eater. I am pleased I stayed in control but I was really grumpy all day, so feel sorry for my work colleagues.

DoubleMum · 24/01/2013 09:18

You can also request to be sent a 'meal mixer' with Change 4 Life, not quite sure what it does but have requested it anyway!

DoubleMum · 24/01/2013 09:19

Sorry for your loss Cyrli. I've added you on MFP.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 24/01/2013 09:23

Sorry for getting your name wrong Cyrli. Blush

LittleAbruzzenBear · 24/01/2013 09:26

Well done WiseKnee. The weather doesn't help either does it. Last night I was wavering and I knew DH had some mini Snickers in the cupboard, I was that close...so I ran a nice hot bath and then after I wasn't hungry.

franch · 24/01/2013 09:31

I joined MFP a week ago and am LOVING it! Doesn't feel like a diet at all and I lost 2lb in the first few days (won't be weighing again till Monday).

I don't have many friends though! Please add me! I'm franch71 on there.

LittleAbruzzenBear shred = Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD. Excellent short intense workouts (20 mins).

I'm using lots of recipes from the Cook Yourself Thin Quick & Easy book at the moment; agree with WiseKneeHair about the BBC site - they even have a special collection of 200-400 cal meals which is really useful.

Good luck to everyone and congratulations on your progress so far.

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 09:32

Little sometimes going to bed is the only option. There are days I would benefit from going to bed at about 10.30am!

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 09:33

Welcome franch, I'll add you.
Then I am off to shred... if I say it often enough, it will become true

franch · 24/01/2013 09:39

Thanks WiseKneeHair!

LittleAbruzzenBear · 24/01/2013 09:40

I'll add you Franch. The Shred sounds like something I could fit in with looking after DS2 (6MO), as exercise is hard to fit in at the mo. When I walk DS1 to school then I get 2 hours brisk walking in, Mon-Fri, which isn't bad, but need to do more.

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 09:52

I would recommend the shred. I believe level 1 is on youtube if you want a go without buying the DVD. It takes about 25 minutes in total and the first few times are HELL ON EARTH, but it is amazing at how quickly you progress if you keep at it and do it most days. There is a Shred in January thread on here, if you would like to join us.
Right, no more procrastination, I AM going to shred now. Grin

bucksmum71 · 24/01/2013 13:02

Hi can I join too! I've only started MFP this week so have no friends at all! but if anyone wants to add me my name is kiittej. Only got 6 stone to lose so goingto be around for a while!!

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 14:59

Welcome bucks, I'll add you. You'll get lots of support but we do like to have a nose at food diaries

WiseKneeHair · 24/01/2013 15:01

bucks I can't find you. Is your MFP name correct?
I'm HappyKite, if you would like to add me.

LittleAbruzzenBear · 24/01/2013 16:57

Hi Bucks. I'm MrsDomini on MFP.

cinnamongreyhound · 24/01/2013 16:58

I have downloaded the change4life befoodsmart app but haven't done anything with it yet, I have an iPhone and it was free :)

Welcome to all the new people!

I went for a run Tuesday and ran mostly in the road as it was a bit scary on the pavement. I got back to find my poorly ds2 was crying for me so I'm hoping to go tonight again but I don't want to leave him crying!

I DO go to bed by 10.30 EVERY NIGHT, 8.30-10.30 is still the toughest time of day!! I'm doing the wholegrain challenge so will be trying a couple of new recipes for that but haven't actually calculated calories. The two recipes I thought mine were most likely to eat were middle eastern Lamb and Quinoa Patties and Oaty Pork in Cider.
