The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Human It is worth it but don't try to do it everyday. I think you will just burn yourself out. Do every other day and eat a little more on exercise days and less on non-exercise days. I think you sound like you are doing a fab job. Yoga will tone up all the bits you want to and maybe help keep your stress levels to a minimum.

Word on the street is that my husband will have R and R at Christmas Smile
IF this is the case I will be trying really hard up until christmas eve and then I am having a little break. After new year everyone is on a diet and so it is a little easier to get started. I will not be miserable over christmas - which will happen if i don't eat festively...

EVERYONE - have a lovely day. My friend has invited me to lunch. I have not had breakfast and will poss only have a soup for dinner depending on what she makes. I won't b rude in someone's house if they have made me lunch!

I won't be jogging regularly and took it quite easy! Only other exercise is walking.

Feel like crap today. Dd2s passed her cold on to me and all I want to do is eat. Craving sweet stuff badly.

tiggy114 · 25/09/2012 09:59

My advice tort, is if your ill and want comfort food, make a veg and lean meat stew and maybe a carrot mash top. Healthy and still comforting. I think it's the weather too. My bodies is saying hibernate and eat stodge Blush

Tortoise · 25/09/2012 10:09

I ate a boost bar SadBlush.
Do i feel better? No!

Will see if i can make some soup for lunch.
Dinner is meant to be pizza because thats what DC asked for.

Youcanringmybell · 25/09/2012 11:00

tortoise - oh i bet it tasted so gooood! And besides...normally I would have 3 boost bars so to have one isn't so bad Grin

Have some good healthy filling food and you will make it through the day

nankypeevy · 25/09/2012 11:13

Oooooh, boost bars - yum. there is something dreadfully more-ish about a boost bar, used to buy packs of three are work of Blubbery Bealzebub.

Today, I put on my great big joggers - and do you know, they are not so tight in the waist band?

Smashing.

TheHumancatapult · 25/09/2012 11:18

OwlLady · 25/09/2012 12:33

Hello, can i join? I lost 51lb last year with weightwatchers and reached goal in january this year. I have been up and down a bit and have put on 12lb Blush since reaching goal so went back last week and have lost 1 1/2lb, so 10 1/2 lb to get back to goal and I am hoping to do that by Christmas.........

I want to lose a further stone after goal though but that is my LONG long term plan

FedUpOfRain · 25/09/2012 12:44

OwlLady, A 51lb loss is amazing!! Any tips?

Tortoise · 25/09/2012 12:48

Bugger just ate 2 cookies Sad. Can't even taste properly.

OwlLady · 25/09/2012 12:56

any tips? well I follow the weightwatchers plan points wise, but I am just realistic about portion size, I exercise everyday.

I started with walking just twice a week and it used to make me ache. I was 15stone 9lb when i joined and used to walk to school etc but conned myself that was enough. So i started walking round the woods at the back of my house where hardly anyone goes as I was really self conscious. I used to do a tuesday and thursday and I did that for a few weeks, a month maybe, it made me ache like buggery tbh. then I started doing the saturday as well, then eventually it was 5-7 times a week and I started walking further and further until i was doing about 4 miles a day in just over an hour.

It took months to get to that stage though but I am pretty sure it's what has helped me lose the weight and what intiially helped me keep it off. I had started to get lazy though, I don't think the rain has helped!! and I am pretty sure that's why my weight has crept back on again oh well, at least i didn't put LOADS back on. I could quite easily have done it. I always have to remember that it comes off slow and goes on quick for me

FedUpOfRain · 25/09/2012 13:44

I like walking and I try to walk an hour a day, but I feel like I should be pushing myself a bit harder? I really dont want to run though, I just cannot do it, dont like it and I look awful attempting it!!

OwlLady · 25/09/2012 13:49

Just try and walk as fast as you can, rather than running. There is absolutely nothing wrong with walking as a form of exercise.

I do the jogging on the wii fit, maybe 20 minutes a day but I think that is a bit different from 'going out for a run'. Ihave zumba on the wii too, that's good. have you got a wii? (here's where you say no :o)

cookieowner · 25/09/2012 15:06

i cant do walking ,running but have a cross trainer which ive ignored for far too long
so started on it yesterday although only managed 6 minutes its a start

OwlLady · 25/09/2012 15:11

6 minutes is fine to start with. I think people underestimate how difficult it is to increase stamina and buil strength and expect to be able to do a normal workout straight away when if you did it could be quite damaging and you could hurt yourself!

cookieowner · 25/09/2012 15:13

yes i feel like i should be doing a lot longer but to start with thats all i could do !

FedUpOfRain · 25/09/2012 15:42

No wii Grin I have found some good videos on youtube so I have been prancing around to them a bit. I have a cross trainer too which I force myslef on a couple of times, but I find it boring. Contemplating joing a running club for beginners...!

Youcanringmybell · 25/09/2012 15:45

Any activity is good ladies!! Keep it up.

You are all in the thick of it now - no going back. This is a change for life and small steps (not massive losses every week) will change your addictive eating habits.

cantmakecarrotcake · 25/09/2012 16:18

Good exercising ladies. I still have my head in the sand about running/spinning but am walking loads just to get places - and yes I got soaked twice today.

I had a lovely moment yesterday when I arrived at DD's swimming lesson and one of the other (skinny) mums immediately commented that I'd lost weight. She's the first person to have noticed and it was lovely to hear it. I hadn't seen her since the end of the summer term when I was at my biggest so I guess she could see the change. Made me smile Grin

I'm having a real 'cba' day today. Hence I'm sitting at work on MN rather than doing any work. Anyone got some motivation I can borow?

Tortoise · 25/09/2012 17:12

Thats good carrotcake Smile

I feel so rough! Had a disgusting boots own lemon lemsip type drink which has done sod all so far! My nose is like a tap! Drip drip bloody drip!

Also have a problem that im not sure how to deal with! DD2 8 came out of school upset and said some boys have been fighting in class again today (Happened lots of times since start of term) and that one boy threw a pencil which hit someone on the forehead and a pair of scissors which hit someone near their eye. DD2 also got pinched on the back during it.
Do i speak to the new teacher or the new head master? She keeps crying and saying shes scared to go back tomorrow Sad.

Youcanringmybell · 25/09/2012 17:29

tortoise I think just have a word with the teacher. Wait for one of our teacher friends to come on and ask them Wink

Great news carrot - how much have you lost (too lazy to go back through the thread)? Being nosey to see how much before people notice Smile

Hi all,
I have finished eating today, got enough left for a cuppa later. If I remember?
Fermez that's funny about the annoying gov. All that energy going to waste! Get him to paint a full-sizes mural in the gym hall next!
Tortoise yum boost bar! How many calories are you doing? Could you not have a normal 2000 cal day every so often? (Like today)It's a maintenance amount of calories, rather than weight gaining. That was the nice thing about fasting, you didn't have to starve everyday! Stopped the mad obsessing/guilt.

Re the exercise discussion. This is a bit, not 'the rules' of exercise, but I exercise at night, after ds is in bed. I have an exercise bike which I plonk in front of the tv and pedal away on for 20 mins a night. This way I catch up on my saved programmes and speed up my metabolism (hopeful face).
I have read exercising at night keeps you awake, but I don't seem to have this problem. Even slept in this morning, to prove my excellent ability to sleep!

Tortoise · 25/09/2012 19:23

Rowingboat Im not counting calories just trying to eat a normal sensible amount for now. If i find i grind to a halt on weight loss i will do something else.
Had pizza and chips tonight. Going to have to stop before i put all the weight back on!
Hopefully tomorrow my cold will have eased! I want to stop sneezing and blowing my nose! I look like rudolph!

Goonatic · 25/09/2012 19:24

Hurray ferm! Sorted!!
A going to be offline for a few days as it takes a fucking age a couple of days to get broadband sorted out Sad think of me losers!!
I will miss you......

I am so hungry right now, I have shamefully ordered a pizza to eat as we have no food and no plates or anything as are between houses. I ate naff all today so am not stressing....

Byeeeeeee x
