Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Well I've just had a close run in with a Friday night treat. DH and I decided to have some ice cream (I was kidding myself a small bowl of B&J wouldn't hurt) and after searching both freezers we discovered there was no B&J, no vanilla ice cream and Shock no chocolate in the house! It seems having a sensible head on when doing the Tesco shop is a good think. Saved!

Sweet potatoes are yum. We usually cut them up and cook like a roast potato (but I think the bake then scoop out sounds like the less calorific option)

Tortoise · 21/09/2012 23:43

I had slices of chicken with salad leaves in the end. Very boring! But at least pains gone now.
Also was naughty and had 2 homemade cookies just now. Late night munchies!

I love sweet potato mash or wedges.

sixchickens · 22/09/2012 00:26

So my daY was slightly more calorific than intended.... 2030 rather than 1200... Oops. I just hope I haven't undone all the good of the last 4 days :-( could have been much worse though, and will pull my socks up tomorrow!

Been shopping tonight, WHY ARE PRAWNS SO EXPENSIVE??!! Sad as they are uber low calorie!

Anyway, well done everyone!

SC x

Meant to thank human for your reply, impressive to lose so much weight in that way. I'm not sure I could cope with a diet which didn't let me have carbs and protein together (and i couldn't live without cheese). I will be cutting down on carbs and dairy but I would find it hard to follow such a restrictive diet.

Having said that, I think it's unlikely I'll reach my target weight by just cutting things out so at some point I'm going to have to look at 'proper' diets or fitness clubs. And in the absence of Diamond Dallas I think I shall do some yoga on the wiifit tomorrow. I'm not quite up to doing press ups (couldn't do them even when I was young and fitish )but I think half an hour of wii yoga's got to be better than nothing.

And thanks also carrot and tiggy looking forward to my sweet potatoes tomorrow.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 22/09/2012 01:09

Ooh tortoise just seen your post. Wedges, yum! Will wear my sunglasses so I can pretend they're normal potato wedges.

TheHumancatapult · 22/09/2012 04:59

Jonny

There is 3 levels on the food plan . I started of at lowest and stepped it up some do some don't what ever works

For me I have so much to lose

But just like the title I looked at myself in mirror and stopped making excuses , stopped blaming being on steroids , stopped blaming the accident ( had sci almost 2 years ag0) stopped blsming marriage breaking down , stopped blsming having child with sn etc etc and found something that works for me . Just like you will find something that works for you

TheHumancatapult · 22/09/2012 05:02

But with help and arse kicking from you lovely ladies I hope to loose the other. 90lbs
Mind September next year I shall probably put some back on 2 weeks Wdw food included im bloody going to eat and enjoy it

Youcanringmybell · 22/09/2012 07:23

Yes human - no more excuses for any of us. There are always genuine reasons why we were all overeating and undoubtedly emotional upset was the main cause.
However, the fact remains overeating like we all have been is almost no better than DRUGS. Our bodies got to depend on it and that is why we all find it so hard now. FOOD hasn't once made us feel BETTER.
I was looking at Overeaters Anonymous - because I really feel like it IS an ADDICTION like no other. We cannot go cold turkey - we MUST eat.
But lots of the Literature is very heavy on Religious faith. Not really my cup of tea.

So this THREAD is our own little councilling/ support group. KEEP COMING IN EVERYONE. Is is lovely to see you all chatting, confiding, supporting and laughing about it all.

We are new people. It is almost irrelevant how much we need to lose. This is a new us for LIFE and we all have to come to terms with the fact that it will be a commitment for life.

Rmu - hello! Excellent news on DH's observation!! Looking forward to weigh in.
what is Ribolita???

I had the worst day and feel like crying. I am rubbish at this single parent thing.
I am used to being on my own but...
Took kids to cinema this morning. I don't drive so used a taxi. OMFG it was so expensive. Literally 10 mins in car and coat £8.30 each way. My son dropped all his sweets on the floor, Mcdonalds was queueing out of the door at 11.45am and the children just whinged about little things.
Why do we have to sit here?
Why do we have to wait?
Why did you buy these sweets?
Why can't we have balloons? etc etc And NOW why isn't Daddy back, I want daddy!

I just didn't have the inclination for this today or the strength. I was so down I ordered a chicken salad in Mcd's and didn't eat more than half. it is so not fun going out on our own and I feel like I am letting them down.

You can

How long you been a single parent ? It can be tough especially as first and by sounds it has been one of those days where you like to hand them over and say your turn

Goldidi · 22/09/2012 14:06

youcan you sound like you're doing a great job. It does get easier and now I find that having dp with us on days out gets me all stressed out as I can't just do my own thing with the kids Blush (not that I'm a single parent now but I was for over 6 years with dd1). Kids moan about all sorts even when there are two of you don't they? I know mine do. You definitely aren't letting them down, you are doing the best you can. Do you manage to speak to your dh at all when he's away?

Youcanringmybell · 22/09/2012 17:06

Hunan - I shouldn't have used the single parent phrase - very silly of me. My husband is away for 6 months. This is the first weekend...
Goldidi - You are right, I know but they just seemed so disappointed with it all even though they are not horrible children they are lovely! I think my mood is reflecting on to them. It is very lonely where I live and I feel I am in a vacuum or something.

You are right though..kids just love to moan and bicker!!

Youcan

In that case it's even harder as they and you are used to him being around And must be bit of a shock to you all and when your used to company as well that's tough Smile

TheHumancatapult · 22/09/2012 17:55

Weekends are tougher I find that and am still a outsider here as only moved here last December but I know most the older people on estate lol as they always want to stop chat and well the rest thank feck for the Internet

Youcanringmybell · 22/09/2012 19:00

rum - Looks delicious! Might try that when I next get a big shop. Nice idea and looks very healthy. I am not in Surrey sadly - would have been lovely. We shall continue our little 'get-togethers' on here though!
human - Thanks, weekends are hard for those that are isolated. I don't make friends easily really - because I am regularly on the move and am very private. I LOVE this thread as we are really building up some trust. You all sound bllomin lovely to be honest!!

Goldidi · 22/09/2012 19:09

How old are your kids youcan? I'm in North Cumbria if you're anywhere close and have dds aged 12 (nearly 13) and 2.5. We'd (possibly not dd1, she doesn't like to meet new people) love to meet people for days out at weekends. Dp never wants to go anywhere and I often find that we waste weekends doing nothing.

TheHumancatapult · 22/09/2012 19:24

Youcan

Would I be wrong if asked if Dh is forces?

I spent my childhood moving around first as army brat then dads job then itchy feet syndrome . So I don't make friends easily and lost contact with the about 20 Differnt schools went to

On the bright side it's made me more self sufficient

TheHumancatapult · 22/09/2012 19:27

Oh and I have done Moving at last moved in here 19tj December Grin

cocoaGOLDchannel · 22/09/2012 20:04

Just back from a week's holiday and it sounds like everyone is doing well.

I stayed the same which I'm a bit disappointed about as ate well and even got up at the crack of sparrows to run a few times. Ah well, back to the MFP calorie restrictions!

Youcanringmybell · 22/09/2012 20:10

human - yes DH is forces. You are used to the lifestyle then!
Goldidi - sorry not cumbria either...Cambridgeshire.
Thanks for asking. My dd is nearly 7 and my ds is 3.5.

Coco - Staying the same on holiday is a VICTORY in my book. Well done Grin

Hi all,
Just wanted to check in here as thisnisnthe first day of my new regime. I have plumped for a 1500 cal per day diet, apparently I can lose 1lb per week.
It went ok had a huge bowl of porridge this morning which kept me going for ages. Finally had a beet root and carrot salad with low fat dressing and an oven fish chips and peas. Even sneaked in a cheeky bag of golden wonder and a couple of all gold - not surprisingly I an sitting at 1600 on my first day - doh!
So perhaps lay off the treats tomorrow!?
Does anyone use calorie count on their phone or tablet? I started using it today and finally got it working this evening. It analyses the food entered for nutritional content and gives a rating. I got an A-! Apparently my vitamin a and c intake is too high. Too many carrots, but they're so crunchy!
Do you all weigh in on the same day?
I was thinking of waiting a week until weigh in?

cocoaGOLDchannel · 22/09/2012 20:39

Welcome rowing! We weigh on a Monday (to ensure we face up to any weekend misdemeanours). Are you counting the calories on My Fitness Pal?

rowingboat · 22/09/2012 20:54

Hi cocoa I am using a thingy on my iPad for calories. I have heard of MVP, is it a facebooky type of thing?
I will weigh in on Monday then after 2 days of diet. Ulp!
The calorie count software has a community bit, not sure I want to join though.
