The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

I think you'll be fine, you've sounded really positive and motivated all week so don't worry about it. Anyway, this is a long term change so really and truly it shouldn't matter how much is lost each week as long as the overall direction is down.

FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 19:31

Good night, slimming pals. I am feeling a bit ropey so off to bed with V for Vendetta and a coffee. Looking forward to joining in weigh in with you all tomorrow, but not expecting results in 2 days...! :)

ICBINEG · 16/09/2012 20:25

I am actually properly nervous about weighing in....oh well packing for hols should distract.

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 20:54

Just thinking out loud a minute!!
I'm trying to do a Tesco online grocery order.
I don't know what to get. Getting bored with the same old meals. Need something new. Trouble is i've only got a few hours to amend the order!
DD's want Lasagne tomorrow. And chicken casserole one day.
No-one eats fish so that limits ideas a bit.

Goonatic · 16/09/2012 21:36

Hello all!
Feel nervous about tomorrow...
Can't remember who posted, think t was you ferm about dinners, I very often have rice with whatever else is in the house, usually something from my dad's garden, leeks, tomotoes, onions, carrots etc and garlic. Made soup today for lunch and spaghetti with sauce and peas for tea.
Am clutching a glass of wine which is v naughty......
Good luck everyone.
X

Ok tort how about figs, so nice, I eat loads of chickpeas, pasta, jacket potatoes, rice, tomatoey pasta sauce, ham, beet root, sweet corn, quorn stuff, but mainly vegetable based dishes, vege curry made with any old veg, curry powder and tinned tomatoes..
Am a bit boring really!
Fruit is my best friend!

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 22:00

Goon I've never tried figs and wouldn't have a clue what to do with them lol!
Veg curry is a good idea but i'm a bit of a recipe follower, i like to have exact amounts needed of what before i can make it for the 1st time.
So far we have lasagne, chicken casserole, chicken stir fry with sweet chilli sauce, DD's have nuggets one night!

Goonatic · 16/09/2012 22:13

Figs are just eatable as they are, very nice once you get used to the weird texture!
With the veg curry, try this.... Fry onion and garlic, (one onion, two or three garlic bits) add a carrot or two, peas, and a desert spoonful of curry powder. Add tin or carton of tomatoes and maybe some plain yoghurt if it is a bit spicy. I add turmeric, cumin, coriander and garam masala at the end as well as the curry powder but it is fairly intense my way!!!
Chicken stir fry and casserole are great too. I use lots of potatoes in everything too.
Have you ordered yet!! The pressure!!
Good luck tomorrow, we will all do brilliantly.

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 22:18

Thanks, only have curry powder so is it ok without the others added? Also i cheat and use garlic puree! So much easier lol! Have completed order but have until just before 1am to amend! Grin

Goonatic · 16/09/2012 22:49

Yes purée would be as good, I am the opposite to you, won't follow a recipe f I can help it! Try it, I started with just curry powder then my dad educated me, he is a curry king! But I was quite happy with curry powder! It is different from takeaway curry but nicer! Tandori paste is my total favourite though.. Will try to find a link...

Goonatic · 16/09/2012 22:52

paste
This s my favourite taste ever!!!!!

Goonatic · 16/09/2012 23:17

Just looked at your profile tort, your kids are gorgeous....!!!!! And the top pic of you, you really don't look very overweight??
Lovely pics, you are a cake demon!

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 23:18

Thanks. I like this bit on there under cooking and storage - .E122 and E129: may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.
I have loads of cook books but hate all the faff of adding so many herbs and spices. I like quick and simple cooking!

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 23:22

Lol No recent pics of me on there. Grin
I was about 12 stone at the start of last summer. Then piled loads on just before Christmas and gained ever since. Sad Had tests for diabetes and thyroid and all came back ok.
I love making cakes Smile. Not all turn out well lol but my kids like them.

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 23:24

Oooh forgot that one was on there! Small head fat body i guess lol!
Really should put some recent ones on!

buggyRunner · 17/09/2012 06:08

midnight pizza- what the fuck!!!! Sad

Tortoise · 17/09/2012 07:13

Morning all.
Very small loss for me. Now 16st.4lb. Lost 1 3/4 lbs.
Not very happy with that but at least it's a loss.

tiggy114 · 17/09/2012 07:15

Ok so it's my first weigh in. I'm 12st 11. So here's hoping i'll lose by next week.

Tschiffely · 17/09/2012 07:26

Morning all. 1lb gone, so 11 5 now. Last week was a bit rubbish for me so hoping for better results this week (and to log in more Grin).

Good luck for weigh ins.

FedUpOfRain · 17/09/2012 07:28

I'm really surprised, I have lost 5lbs this week (thought I had been a little more relaxed!!) I am now offically under 11st and have lost half a stone in total Grin I don't really feel like I have lost any weight when I look at myself though. I take photos to try and see the change Blush

FedUpOfRain · 17/09/2012 07:29

I might take photos ....

Tortoise · 17/09/2012 07:38

Well done, good losses.
I'd love to be under 11st!

LetLoveRule · 17/09/2012 07:48

Morning all. Thanks for the encouragement yesterday. Yes, I will step away from the scales! (well once a week max). Anyway, have lost a pound which doesnt seem much but I hope will encourage me to not slip up next weekend!!! Well done to everyone who's lost this week. Carry on!!!!Smile

nankypeevy · 17/09/2012 08:03

I'm down a pound too.

My instinctive reaction is "well, see? It just doesn't work, I just can't do it, what is the blurdy point?"

But, if I have a massive loss - I think "Well, see? It's easy. I don't need to stick exactly to it, I'll just lose weight naturally"

Muppet.

And, I haven't been stringent, I've been under the weather still so amn't organised about my meals and have had no exercise (and may have worked my way through a couple of bottles of wine and maybe a birthday cake and a Mcdonalds that I didn't want and didn't enjoy over the weekend)

So, all in all, a good start.

Carry on people. Last week is a week we'll never see again, set our sights on this one...

tiggy114 · 17/09/2012 08:09

Do people use my fitness pal app? Been looking at breakfast options on there and a ham sandwhich has less caliries than my usual cereal! So i'm having that. Also we still buy baby heinz biscotti biscuits and organix fruit pots for lo. They're only about 50 cal each and are really yummy for a pudding Grin
