The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

hi all I'm back- had night on the beer with mummy friends (first time in 4 yrs) on Friday and I got v drunk. couldn't eat at all yesterday so I'm eating today. weighed myself this morning and was 9-12 but this is only due to dehydration from yesterday and I'm more like 10-1. so I'm going to do my real weigh in Tuesday as I don't want a false result.

going to take kids swimming and I have volleyball tonight.

dinners I like- chicken pie with potato top
falafel
chicken salad

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 12:02

buggy - hello - glad you had a good night! You may have a great weigh in on Tuesday
Keep up the fitness - you must be seeing such a huge difference in yourself!

Hi all.
Didn't have the best of days yesterday. Just an unhealthy dinner and 2 small choc wafer bars.
Also having trouble posting on mn on my new phone! Which is really annoying me!
Tonight we're having gammon, New pots and French beans (grown by dc at school).

FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 12:26

Oooh I've never key lime pie before but they went mad over it on that bake-off programme I watch.

Goldidi yes it's just me so cheap and easy meals like risotto and omelette are perfect.

I've been to Tesco anyway (in damp clothes!) and spent £26 for the week's shop which I don't think is too bad. The beef stew is now lamb, due to lamb being my favourite and on offer.

Also, I spotted a chicken in the reduction cabinet - a big willow farm one down from £7 to £3.95, so am hoping for 2 meals and a sandwich from that baby!

Currently waiting for a woman to ring about a dress I've bought off my Facebook local things for sale group, which I set up of boredom. I have a formal dinner at the university next month and need a dress. Suspect I will still look like a piggy in a blanket, but will make the best of things.

FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 12:33

Sod yesterday tortoise tonight's dinner sounds lovely.

Goldidi · 16/09/2012 12:35

Tortoise I'm Envy of your school-grown French beans. I keep trying to grow my own vegetables but I keep killing them Blush I just don't have the patience to be a gardener.

Fermez definitely don't make that key lime pie if it's just you! It's supposed to serve 12 but the 4 of us can usually polish one off within 2 days (and dd2 is only 2.5 so isn't allowed much of it). I must control myself this time but it only lasts a couple of days and it would be a shame to waste it

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 13:04

goldidi I suspect you could freeze it my love....don't binge. I am saving you from an awful guilt and sicky feeling for doing it!

Fermez - LAMB is my FAV - can I come to tea please

Tortoise - I don't really like gammon....but what an excellent low fat choice! My friend makes a gammon and pineapple rish dish if you have any left over Smile

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 13:42

I've grown runner beans but not many as I was late putting them in.

Leftovers??? What are they? Lol! With 4dc and now dbro there is never leftovers lol!

Just cooking carrot and parsnip soup for my lunch. Dc had homemade waffles! Took so long making them food, I'm starving waiting for mine to cook.

FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 13:44

Ha! If you're in the North East you're more then welcome :) I do love cooking but it's a bit depressing never to cook for others. Need to find some friends!
Have picked up the dress from this woman and I have to say - it looks ok!!!! I still look massive, obviously, but with a shrug, bolero thingy around the top I should be passable. Hair BADLY needs re-dying - does anyone know if enamel baths stain? I have a feeling they do and I defo can;t afford to have it coloured in a salon...

FedUpOfRain · 16/09/2012 13:50

Bought a slimming world magazine earlier in the week and have been experimenting with some of the recipes. I needed inspiration for healthy meals and I LOVE looking at the before and after pictures. Helps to remind me that this is possible!! will pretend I didnt have any brie for lunch

Sorry to hear your husband is away for so long youcan, exciting to think about what you will look like when he returns though?

tortoise - I suppose with that little lot you don't get left overs! Less for you I suppose (every cloud and all that...) Gosh that sounds horrible - I don't mean it to x
fermez It is meant to be....I am sort of North East. We should pm soon !

fedup - I love looking at the before and after pics too. There are some lovely recipes which trick us into thinking we are eating our old food.

mavis thank you for the hug. I am currently on sofa with a blanket and children are watching Harry Potter and playing Ds. I feel very tired. Glad you have the right attitude. I am cracking on with you. Going for power walk tomorrow with a little jog. I do that mon-fri after school run.

My Husband STILL hasn't left the country due to delays....All this adds time onto his 6 months.

Oh and fermez...I don't think enamel baths stain...I have done mine many a time in the shower and not had a problem.

OP posts:
Tortoise · 16/09/2012 14:38

Lol that doesn't sound horrible at all. I live in a made house full of kids and dogs! Grin
Soup was really filling! I only managed just over half a bowl and im stuffed!

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 14:47

Oh yummy! Just remember to eat enough not to go into starvation mode..We want big losses! Smile

FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 16:20

youcan not sure what pm stands for but I'm definitely up for it! :) Thanks for the bath advice also, my roots are quite horrific - I look grey! :(

Really struggling this afternoon. Dinner was lovely and I've got some work done (unbelievably, considering time spent pissing about on here!) but I really fancy a glass of wine to read my book to. Mini Tesco is a 4 minute walk from my front door. BUT THIS IS WHY I AM FAT!!! NO MORE RATIONALISING! Do you know, as I was typing I was hoping someone would say "you've worked hard, it's the weekend, treat yourself.." but NO. This is not what this thread is about and not the way to get thin!!!!

Sorry for using this as a personal ranting space at times, it's just so bloody hard ignoring my treacherous mind sometimes :(

FedUpOfRain · 16/09/2012 16:26

I'm shredding fatbottomedmavis I can't do the bloody press ups, but I think I am improving at the rest though. My poor neighbours are properly wondering what all the banging is each morning....!

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 16:39

fermez this is the PERFECT place to rant. We have been there and are in it with you!!

Perhaps you can have some wine next weekend if you carefully plan some extra low fat dishes? I think you still have to have enough cals to lose weight. Not suggesting any more than a glass so if you love your wine it could be dangerous to buy a whole bottle!

Pm - private message. Love the way you were up for it before you knew what it was Grin

fedup I have never been able to do press ups, I have bad wrists Blush
I bet the neighbours are in awe of your banging every morning!!

OP posts:
FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 16:43

Ooh yes, I shall definitely send a private message when I'm less ranty! :) Would be nice to chat to someone who lives relatively close to me - only been up here 6 weeks and don't know lots of people yet.

Wine is now firmly out of my mind - as you predict, I would just slowly drain the whole bottle over the course of three hours or so. NAHT GOOOD! So I've made myself a nice coffee and am off to watch Come Dine With Me.

Maybe this is my problem - all these foodie programmes I watch! :)

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 16:47

Oh yeah - treat yourself Grin

I watch come dine, Bake off etc
have fun!

OP posts:
Goldidi · 16/09/2012 16:56

I'm relatively close to the North East too. Officially I'm North West but I feel more spiritually at home in the North East Grin (I did go to school and uni in Newcastle)

I love all the foody programmes too. I rarely make any of the food shown though, as I'm a rubbish cook so I rely on dp to make decent stuff.

tiggy114 · 16/09/2012 17:05

Just a quick msg. In enamel, baths, run two inch of water in the bath bottom. Then when you rinse dye off it's dilutes into the water and doesn't stain the bath.

Youcanringmybell · 16/09/2012 17:13

Goldidi - I think I am actually do not know where I live...I move around too much I think. I never know where comes under what area! I am rubbish at geography.

I might actually be miles away from any of you..will pm soon with my area ( oo er)
tiggy excellent idea!!!

anyone watching that tv drama Mrs Biggs?

OP posts:
FermezLaBouche · 16/09/2012 18:04

I went to uni at Newcastle too, Goldidi - well, my PGCE. I loved it and love the city.
Thanks for the advice tiggy - I'm annoyed I didn't buy some dye today actually.

Tortoise · 16/09/2012 19:07

Dinner was yum. I only had 4 slices of gammon and 4 small new potatoes! Wasn't enough french beans for me by the time I had served dcs food! Oh well! The joys of having an extra mouth to feed lol.

I'm quite worried about weigh in tomorrow. Don't know why as I have done ok I think.
