The NO EXCUSES, Now or NEVER slimming thread

Youcanringmybell · 30/08/2012 16:08

This is a thread for those who are pig sick of over eating and binging and have decided enough is enough.

There will be no excuses on this thread...no 'oh but I was due my period' or 'oh but it was left over so I finished it' etc

IF you need to have a nice meal as part of a celebration DO IT but no more excuses - have the meal and move on.

This is a thread for the brave.....this is a thread for the serious. Join at your peril.....

Monday mornings are weigh in - so that we cannot binge on the weekends. I am deliberately being hard on myself and if you want to do it to please join. Even if someone wafts wine and banoffee pie under my nose I will not have it - even if the world is going to end I WILL NOT HAVE IT

weigh in Monday morning and post here

Oh and drink some wine and eat some choc while you still can because on Monday you will be in hell Angry

Morning, ladies!

Well, against the odds I've managed a 1lb loss, despite (albeit minimal) holiday excesses. So now 11st 10lb or 74.5kg in new money. Happy with that Grin

My initial goal of 11st still seems a long way off though - hopefully 5 weeks rather than 10 (unless of course I'm preg which would kind of have the opposite effect...)

Well done all the other losers. I like the comment of we'll never have that week again - although I rather enjoyed mine and would happily live it again Smile

xxxresixxx · 17/09/2012 08:36

Ok so I need a giant kick up the back side.. After an overindulgent weekend, I had a crap week (sick child, financial crap, pre OP assessment) I carried on eating for the whole group and have really paid for it :-( 5lb on.... Now11St 8 hangs head n shame

cantmakecarrotcake · 17/09/2012 09:04

Oh dear, resi, not the best week. But now's the time to put it behind you and be extra determined to lose that 5lb.

Stress is a terrible eating trigger and dieting in stressful periods is particularly hard. Don't let it get the better if you though.

Can you find another release for it? Go for a walk/long bath to remove yourself from easy reach of the kitchen?

What about chewing gum - the mint taste should put you off other foods and the chewing could keep your mouth busy for a while?

FuckityFuckFuck · 17/09/2012 09:06

Morning everyone

Another 5lbs off for me :) I'm surprised it is so much after the fish and bastard chips, and I went slightly over my calorie yesterday but I am very chuffed :)

It's gonna be a difficult week cos DS starts nursery tomorrow, so I will struggle to stay away from the chocolate when I'm in floods of tears :(. Will definitely need to stock up on fruit today

This week will be better. That extra weight will not hang around for long

Well done losers

Youcanringmybell · 17/09/2012 09:24

OMG you lot have done fab!! I am so proud of you all (no exaggeration!)

I weighed this morning and put ona pound which isn't bad so still lost 2 pounds since we started. Obviously that is crap but my heart hasn't been in it until husband went...
He has boarded the plane this morning and my weight loss is now a GO!!
I aim to lose 5 lbs this weeks.

Resi - life has it's challenges. Do not let numbers rule your life. It is about and attitude change - you do not need that choc or food to make you feel better.
DO YOU FEEL BETTER NOW FOR EATING IT? NO. IT DOES NOT HELP YOU Xxx

Goonatic · 17/09/2012 10:17

Hi all, just weighed and I have lost one whole pound. So now 12st 1lb. Been a bit rubbish this week. But happy still to be on a downward path.

Taking inspiration from you all.

I AM NEVER GOING TO BE THIS HEAVY AGAIN

Tschiffely · 17/09/2012 15:54

5lbs, 5lbs how have you managed 5lbs!!Envy.

resi I will hold your hand because I have probably gained the measly 3lbs I have lost so far, had a bad, bad day.

xxxresixxx · 17/09/2012 16:54

Thanks tschiffely. I think subconsciously I was eating all the nice food I won't be able to eat for the next few weeks :-. I resisted cake at toddler group today tho :-)

FermezLaBouche · 17/09/2012 17:07

Five pounds is AMAZING!
I have weighed in even though I only bought scales on Sat anddidntwanttofeelleftout and have lost 2lb since sat, though I know this is probably just fluctuation....just as long as I fluctuate in the right direction!!

fuckity and goonatic 5lb is an amazing loss - you MUST be able to feel a difference?

Well done everyone! Chicken and veg curry for me tonight and an early night :)

Tortoise · 17/09/2012 18:22

All I've had so far today is 2 special k bars! Been so busy and not been home all day.
Tonights dinner is going to be quick, easy and bad
Can of veg curry and chips cooked In deep fat fryer. Might even wash it down with a bottle of Budweiser when the shopping comes! Blush

FermezLaBouche · 17/09/2012 18:33

hoofs tortoise and steals her beer
I've really enjoyed my lovely curry but could definitely have done with a beer to wash it down instead of STUPID COFFEE!!!
Still sticking to no alcohol Sun, Mon, Tues and Wed though, and also only have £17 till my mum gives me back the £100 I lent her, so saving it for petrol. Which is NOT a tasty alcoholic beverage therefore I resent buying it! (Feeling irrational, sorry!)

Tortoise · 17/09/2012 19:06

Grin I haven't had beer or chips in 2 weeks! Got to wait until at least 9pm for beer as that's when Tesco due!

FermezLaBouche · 17/09/2012 19:45

Feeling very low tonight. Not hungry - in fact the one good thing about this new way of eating (loathe to call it a diet) is that I don't seem to feel hungry, even though I'm eating about a third as much.

Just in one of those "what's the fucking point" moods. It's going to take AGES before I resemble anything like a normal human being. Also the prospect of being on Emergency tax for the foreseeable future when I've had to scrimp and save on normal rate this month is a really hideous prospect. :( :( :( I really do prefer being on my own, but sometimes it would be nice to just be able to hand over part of the burden to someone else for once.

Sorry all, being a bit loserish xx

Goonatic · 17/09/2012 20:46

ferm don't despair.... It is worth it, this is the rest of your life, you can do it.
Why do you have to pay emergency tax? Sorry if I have just missed it.

Listen to my songs and pick one for us to have as our theme tune, I bestow that honour upon you!!!!!

Losing the 5lb has been achievable by; eating a yoghurt for breakfast, fruit snack, soup for lunch and a few dates in the avo, then rice and veg or chickpeas etc for tea. Although I did eat two packets of crisps today, plus homemade curry and I have a packet of maltesers to eat too.
Also I haven't had any beer!!!!!!

I have just kind of changed me whole attitude, more than once I have found myself blocking out my diet voice of reason and heading towards something hideous but at the last possible minute something has stopped me. I suppose I am just really determined........

FuckityFuckFuck · 17/09/2012 21:06

Whats up with the emergency tax fem I used to work for the tax office if I can be of any help at all.

With regards to the 10lbs I've lost so far:

I have mfp and I make sure I log everything and don't go over. When I had the fucking disgusting McD's last week, I didn't eat again even though I was hungry because I would have gone over. You have to make sure you eat enough though or your body goes into starvation and you don't lose. Mfp works out how many calories you should have, and is really easy to use.

Also, lots and lots of exercise. I have been doing around 150 minutes of exercise each week. 20 mins here and there and then a good 50 minutes once or twice a week. It is really hard to get into it, and I have had to force myself to do it a few times but I feel better afterwards.

Tortoise · 17/09/2012 22:00

Fermez Doing it alone is hard work. How long have you been a lone parent? 7 years for me! I don't understand tax so can't help there. Only recently gone self employed so it's all very new and confusing to me lol! I also know that feeling of feeling like its going to take so long to get to a normal size.

I felt sick after eating a huge plate of crap. I used to eat chips almost every day! Didn't really enjoy them tonight. BUT god the beer is good lol! Grin

FermezLaBouche · 18/09/2012 06:22

Morning all - sorry for the misery last night. I am coming off hormonal contraception and honestly think it's my body kicking into some sort of menstrual cycle again, as I did feel very oddly low last night.

Will be on emergency tax as moved to a new teaching job in a different authority. My old council are incompetent wankers and I probably won't get my p45 for months... so I haven;t been able to give it to my new county. I THINK I filled ina p60 when I started this job though - fuckity would you be able to tell me if that means anything?

tortoise I don't actually have any kids - I joined MN years ago (different name then) when I was pregnant, but when I miscarried I never left. I wouldn't ever compare myself to the life of the single parent, I don't know how you manage! But it's still not easy trying to live alone, trying to get everything done when you're out the house 11 hours a day. And just never having anyone who can take half the responsibility, as I'm sure you know.

Anyway, hope everyone has a good day and may the scales be ever in your favour! (Sorry, was watching Hunger Games...)

Ooh Goon I've just seen your song thing - I would love to pick a song but have to dash off to work now - I shall be back this evening! Late one tonight so not back till 6:30ish but NO SNACKING!!!!!

buggyRunner · 18/09/2012 06:22
