We could keep chatting here until someone starts a new proper thread...

auntmaggie I think vnmum has the protein shakes so maybe worth a search for the posts. I've never tried them as I do love eggs in the morning. Smile

Jins · 25/08/2012 22:16

See it was worth me joining you just for the lasagne tip Grin

SingingTunelessly · 25/08/2012 22:22

jins oh yes that lasagne is genius. I used to think that pasta was something I couldn't live without. Wrong! Can't imagine ever wanting it again tbh. Also, we never have to eat fruit again if we don't want to do we Jins. I seem to remember we are in agreement about that one. Grin.

Jins · 25/08/2012 22:41

Definitely. We really don't have to eat fruit unless we really want to which is unlikely in my case Grin

I had a grape tonight and a slice of banana. They were rank

emmak86 · 26/08/2012 08:57

Morninng all

Backdown to 87.2 this morning..
Onwards and Downwards haha!

Breaky will be: almond puff pancakes!

sybilfaulty · 26/08/2012 10:03

Morning losers! Back from holiday now where I wasn't too bad food wise, although I did drink a fair bit of wine. Am going to count myself as being on holidays now until the end of the bank hol, then back to diet with gusto.

Am not really craving fruit but am loving my vegetables. I eat more tomatoes than is probably suggested but I do love them and will only cut them out/ down once bootcamp starts again and BIWI is back in town.

Detail - I am 42, 3 kids under 8, work PT but not back at work til 6th September and live in Sarf London. Have been on this WOE since mid June and lost 1st. WOuld like to lose another few lbs to make the size 12s loose (and perhaps even do some 10s). I am very heavy for my height though so clothes are a better inspiration.

Have a peaceful SUnday everyone.

vnmum · 26/08/2012 10:36

auntmaggie i do have the odd protein shake but i nick them from DH and they are slightly higher in carbs than i would like. teaandthorazine uses them regularly. She uses this and it is much lower in carbs. I am going to get some next week. You can also order sample packs of the flavours for 99p each i think.

I seem to have gained a bit towards the end of this week. I've got a feeling it could be water retention as due on soon, will see what the scales say tomorrow.

Glad you found us all again goddess

Afternoon!

We are back now. I've managed a couple of hours kip this morning, but hoping to stay awake till normal bedtime. Thankfully we have tomorrow to ease us back into UK time.

No food in the house - nor wine, as DS1 seems to have drunk it all. Along with a fair portion of our spirits Hmm (He is 20, btw, before you call social services Grin)

I'm really noticing having put weight back on now, and I don't like it one bit. I am pleased to be getting back on the LC bandwagon.

emmak86 · 26/08/2012 13:57

vnmum i always seem to gain a tad when my TOTM is arriving!

BIWI welcome back! Nice to have you back with us and back on the low carbing Grin

emmak86 · 26/08/2012 13:59

WillieWaggledagger · 26/08/2012 14:06

I am staying with my grandmother and having a thoroughly English country bank holiday weekend with flower shows and roast dinner etc. am toeing the fine line between low carbing and offending my lovely Grannie!

Welcome back biwi - hope holiday was fab

vnmum · 26/08/2012 14:15

Welcome back BIWI glad you had a good holiday.

AuntieMaggie · 26/08/2012 16:42

Thanks vnmum i'll see if i can order some. I also found this for after bootcamp. My tastebuds are all over the place and i'm finding bacon and ham too salty!

Welcome back BIWI

Today I had bacon and egg for breakfast (forced it down) and for late lunch/early dinner BBQ 2 homemade burgers topped with emmental, 2 sausages half a corn on the cob and a large salad with pizza express salad dressing. Yummy.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 26/08/2012 16:59

Welcome back, BIWI!

Well, even after my carb-fest yesterday I still lost 0.5 of a lb and was back down to 10 stone 2 this morning. Singing, I think it was the result of a really bad night with 5mo DD - she was up every hour or so for a feed, so I was completely knackered. Plus we had to go to a coffee morning, which is where I had the bacon roll, and then when DH said he wanted McD's for lunch I couldn't face sitting in the car watching and smelling him eat his and not having anything myself.

I've been good today, though - bacon and scrambled eggs for breakfast, roast lamb, salad, homemade mint sauce (no sugar, just mint and vinegar) and gravy for lunch. Dinner will be more lamb with neep dauphinoise, mmm, and red cabbage.

NigellasGuest · 26/08/2012 17:24

welcome back BIWI, Sybill and any other holiday goers!

Last night I had one medium glass of white wine, one small glass of white wine, and half a club biscuit. Blush

TOM arrived this morning - don't know whether that had anything to do with it (not my fault of course, oh no)

captainmummy · 26/08/2012 18:24

Am back from 4 days B&B in Newquay (ds3 surfing, me sitting on a windy beach 'watching our stuff'!) - not too bad LC-wise except for the glass of orange juice every moring and the coffees with milk,oh and the bottle of wine a night between us. I've put on 0.5KG, i blame the coffees.

Back to omelette from breakfsst and letttuce with cheese and ham for lunch. Not hungry yet, but made chicken in cream sauce for dinnner.

SingingTunelessly · 26/08/2012 22:57

Welcome home BIWI Come on get back on the wagon Grin

We've all been really good here. lies

frumpet · 27/08/2012 08:06

Hi can anyone link to the original thread with all the instructions at the top please?

fufulina · 27/08/2012 08:35

Good morning all, and welcome back BIWI. Hope you've booked your next holiday to try and avoid the blues...?

Successfully negotiated a wedding yesterday (in tower bridge, followed by reception at the design museum. Amazing), and only had ONE polenta chip. Did drink a few glasses of champagne, but they were delicious.

Sorry to be an arse, but please can someone post the lasagne recipe? I can use my normal beef mix, but what about low cal bechemel. What are the quantities for egg yolk, cream and cheese? Thanks very much indeed. With that and pre-sliced emmental I reckon I'd be all good.

Frumpet, just do a search in chat for bootcamp, posted by BIWI. Any of the bootcamp threads have the rules at the top. Sorry, haven't worked out how to post links n my iPad.

Happy bank holiday Monday all.

BIWI · 27/08/2012 08:49

Thank you all for the welcomes back!

And welcome frumpet. At the beginning of this thread are all the rules - including the list of allowed veg

There has been some 'interesting' reporting of a study into eggs, claiming that they are very harmful. Given the reliance on eggs that I, for one, have on this WOE I was very alarmed by this. But a little further reading indicates that it was not only a badly constructed (from a scientific point of view) study, but that also the reporting of it was misleading to say the least:

articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/08/27/eating-eggs.aspx?e_cid=20120827_DNL_artNew_1

Today is my last 'holiday' day. Tomorrow I am back to work with a vengeance, and have made sure that I have plenty of low carb stuff to eat.

HumphreyCobbler · 27/08/2012 09:10

I am pleased to be back on the wagon too.

I am looking rather thin today Smile

MissBeehivingUnderTheMistletoe · 27/08/2012 09:11

Hello all!

About to leave for holiday so just signing into say that I have been carrying on with this WOE (really enjoying it) and am now at 8st 9lbs which is whereabout I would like to be Smile.

Have found that I have more energy, am less moody, not craving junk and have less headaches. And I can now wear my bikinis without having to suck my stomach in Grin. I'm carrying on permanently but thanks to everyone on the thread for fab recipe ideas and support and especially to BIWI for demystifying the low carb thang!

halfthesize · 27/08/2012 09:16

Morning all and hello to all those back from there hols!

Goddess glad to see you found usSmile

Well weekend was completed right offBlush, though did not have any rice pasta or bread so could have been worse.

Have decided not to weigh myself today or I might cry, as know I will be about 2lb up. Will be back on track today and then weigh in tomorrowSmile I now have 1 week till my birthday so really do have to be good till then.

BIWI · 27/08/2012 09:17

As we near the start of the pre-Christmas, or Little Black Dress Bootcamp (!), I am going to review the rules. My original intention - although I had no idea how it would take off! - was to create 10 rules to make it as easy as possible to follow.

Now I'm questioning whether or not we need as many as ten - I aimed for ten as it's a sort of convention - a 'top ten' of tips, as well as whether or not any of the ten need to be amended in any way. I'm going to re-post the rules with my own thoughts/questions, and it would be useful and helpful for those of you who have been bootcamping/low carbing for a while to add your own views.

The other thing I was wondering about, which was provoked by the comments made by QS, was whether or not to set up a Facebook group for Bootcamp? I don't necessarily think this is the best way to do it, but it does mean that we can set up 'strands' of conversations, rather than bombard MN with different threads every week.

Although I think it keeps the impetus going, having a week-by-week chat thread, as well as a week-by-week weigh-in thread, I can see that other MNetters might be pissed off by what could be seen as 'over-posting'.

Whaddya think?
