We could keep chatting here until someone starts a new proper thread...

auntieMaggie - pâté is lovely on slices of cucumber. I think someone on here suggested it and I have never looked back. I usually just eat cheese as it is!

eyes don't panic, I am sure it is still better carbs than a sandwich. Maybe they can be watered down a little bit if you get really desperate!

BIWI · 04/09/2012 22:52

I eat cheese on its own.

Pate is lovely with cucumber, or celery. Which is also lovely with cheese.

captainmummy - have a look at the recipe thread for more inspiration.

SharonGless · 04/09/2012 23:13

BIWI yes please to shouting.
I need to Bootcamp now I think to get rid of sugar cravings. TOTM has started with a vengeance which hasn't helped. Am getting coil checked out as periods have come back heavy which is disappointing. I have suffered with them for a long time but the coil had sorted it out.

On the last minute sorting labels in school uniform and ironing tonight. DS is not happy about going back in morning do I expect to be up in night with him.

Tomorrow is a new day and a new start. I can do this and WANT to do this, I just need a kick start and give myself a good talking to. IPD here I come for a reread before bed!

teaandthorazine · 05/09/2012 07:00

Grin BIWI - we're no good at sitting on our hands, are we? Not that I think it will make very much difference on that thread tbh but I'm staying out of it now!

Dinner last night was good - bunless burger with cheese and bacon, plenty of salad. I did succumb to one of the most enormous, crispiest onion rings I've ever seen, but just the one. Water to drink, no pud. Not bad! Stayed up until midnight writing a job application and am now knackered.

Dinner tonight - probably fish. Have bought some sea bass from the Saucy Fish Co - it comes with a lovely beurre blanc sauce and is fab with (out of season) asparagus. Have a good day everyone.

(Oh, and meeting the in laws was fine, quite good fun actually but v tiring, thanks to Willie for asking!)

halfthesize · 05/09/2012 08:24

Morning all and thanks for the lovely birthday messagesGrin

I had a fab day and a planned cheat, which involved a few chips and some bubbly. No weigh in for a few days and lots of water!!

1st day with DC back to school wohoo freedom. So off shopping and then going to start some bulk cooking BIWI breast of lamb is on the list now, its sounds lovely.

BIWI · 05/09/2012 08:30

Re the breast of lamb, if there's any leftover, it's fab sliced and then panfried for another meal or snack.

tea Grin

What job are you applying for? [nosey]

EyesDoMoreThanSee · 05/09/2012 09:55

Well back to work today and DD (who is an excellent alarm clock at 6am) chose today of all days to sleep until 7.15am ARGH. Thankfully lunch was easy - I went with the soup but added a third water meaning lunch is 15g carbs. Thought I was mad as it was hot first thing but cooler now and I have two hard boiled eggs to eat with it.

Dinner is chicken & salad. Snacks are were two babybels

halfthesize · 05/09/2012 10:21

Thanks BIWI that sounds scrummy Smile

PrincessSparkle86 · 05/09/2012 10:46

Morning all Grin

BIWI i have made the satay sauce, and added the recipe with calorie and carb count to your recipe thread Smile

I must say it smells yummy! I shall be having it with chicken breast and some salad for lunch Smile

Have a good day!!

EwanHoozami · 05/09/2012 13:09

Hello - thanks for the welcome :)

Due to the fact I'm a plonker, I put in an online Sainsbo order a few days ago before I'd decided to cut carbs properly and the orange van of joy arrived last night. My fruitbowl is overflowing and I have stacks of Activia yoghurt in the fridge. Gah. 3yo DS is going to be eating a lot of peaches.

Lots of cold meats, eggs, cheese, butter, cream and green veg so all is not lost.

Yesterday's tally:

B: two egg omlette with butter
L: cold chicken, salt beef, emmental and avocado
D: chicken liver and chorizo salad

Is that vaguely in the right direction?

By the end of the day I thought that I didn't feel full but might have confused that with not feeling bloated with carbs, IYKWIM.

thegoddess - that's v heartening to know that the sugar cravings subside. My cravings are a bit frightening today; I had to really stop myself plunging face-first into a bowl of granola when I got back from dropping DS off at preschool. It was his first day and I was a wee bit wobbly Blush

AuntieMaggie · 05/09/2012 14:06

Ewan it works! Even though I still ate fruit for the first two weeks my sweet cravings still reduced massively. (I just realised I'm coming to the end of my 4th week already!!!)

Make sure you're drinking plenty of water (theres a table on page 3 of this thread for how much you should drink for your weight.) and eat plenty of veg.

Otherwise welcome :)

Thegoddessblossom · 05/09/2012 14:39

Welcome ewan!

Still 9 2 this morning, phew, that would have been embarrassing after my virtuous gush up thread Grin. Consider that my maintenance weight tbh, anything more is a bonus. I am still boot camping though. See what happens.

B: Greek yog, coffee with cream.

L: 3 egg plain omelette with large green salad and cucumber, and coleslaw.

Went to the gym again this morning.

Need to drink some more water.

obrigada · 05/09/2012 14:46

Am finally committed to trying this WOE (have been saying this for last couple of months Blush), for personal reasons I have not had an alcoholic drink in the last month, this morning I put on a pair of jeans which fit comfortably last month but which today are digging into my stomach!

teaandthorazine · 05/09/2012 14:47

Skived off work early today to pick ds up from first day back at school. Isn't this weather gorgeous?!

Just had two babybels and a pint of water, am now drying out the pork belly for tonight (not the fish) as it's ds's favourite. Will probably do it with creamy, cheesy spinach but must admit cba to do the usual celeriac dauphinoise so might just mash a bit of cauli with butter!

BIWI - am applying for a teaching position. Unlikely to get it tbh but I think it's good practice to write those pesky personal statements now and again!

Hello Ewan, your menu looks great. Just be careful with the processed meats (says she, queen of the hastily-snarfled Pepperami Hmm)

NigellasGuest · 05/09/2012 15:39

Hi Ewan! Welcome to you! my fruit problem is that I have abundant plums due to a very productive tree in the garden, and it feels criminal not to reap the rewards..... I suppose you could make up a load of smoothies for your DCs if they can't eat the peaches fast enough?

I made the moussaka last night, from the recipe thread. Ate it whilst smugly watching the Great British Bake Off. It was absolutely delicious. Had a bit of the leftovers for breakfast, and haven't felt hungry since so that is all I have eaten today.

Thegoddessblossom · 05/09/2012 17:12

Snacks: chunk of cheese, spoonful of peanut butter, god I could eat the whole jar it's so delish.

Tea I did exactly the same thing, bunked off early to pick up ds2 from first day back! We then sat in the park for an hour, very sunny here.

Viperidae · 05/09/2012 17:17

I have always had a very sweet tooth and have struggled with diets before because of the lack of puddings but am amazed how this diet is changing my tastes. This morning I had 2 boiled eggs and I put just a smidge of ketchup with them, more like seasoning than anything else, and it was soooooo sweet! Tasted like eggs with sugar!

Anyway I still ate them and have had a chicken salad for lunch. Planning to have shepherds pie leftovers and veg for tea.

tea I applied for a job on the offchance like that a few years ago and got offered it! What made it even more shocking is that I had to turn it down as the part-time hours turned not to be part-time enough, but then got approached by their competitor and offered the job I now do because they had heard about it! You never know your luck!

SharonGless · 05/09/2012 17:20

Scales arrived - just weighed myself. Even worse than I first though.

Gutted.com

Been very good today. Buffet lunch at work so I ate my salad early before so I wasn't tempted by sandwiches ( which would have tasted yuk anyway!)

2 litres water so far
Roast chicken cooking with buttered cabbage, broccoli and mashed cauliflower

Jins · 05/09/2012 17:21

I have a sweet tooth too Blush

Although I now can't stand sweet tastes in foods that are meant to be savoury I can still get stuck into chocolate and desserts. It's really weird. I nearly spat out some butternut squash soup and yet I can see off a load of marzipan offcuts without flinching.

teaandthorazine · 05/09/2012 17:49

Viper - haha at 'Anyway I still ate them' Grin. And thanks re: job. I agree you never know your luck - I am well qualified for it but keep thinking there will be loads of other people even more suitable...anyway, will let you know!

Sharon - just tell yourself that this is the last time you'll ever be that weight. And enjoy your chicken! How great is it to be able to enjoy crispy, golden, salty chicken skin on this WOE? Tonight's pork belly with chili flakes and fennel is roasting as we speak - it smells divine.

BIWI · 05/09/2012 17:52

Marzipan? Bleurgh!

Sharon - don't despair. The new scales might weigh differently from your old ones. It's all about the calibration. I know it's never great when the number is higher than you want, but you will be fine once you get going.

SharonGless · 05/09/2012 18:22

Thanks tea and BIWI

I did really enjoy the chicken and we were fighting over the skin! Children both love it.

I am hoping the calibration has something to do with it as my new clothes don't feel that tight. Just bloody disheartening that I have undone all my good work and for what...?

BIWI · 05/09/2012 18:24

Put it behind you. What's done has been done.

SharonGless · 05/09/2012 18:39

Onwards and downwards. And drink water.....

MrsHerculePoirot · 05/09/2012 18:45

Birthdays are baaaaaaaaaaad! I need bootcamp to start on Friday!!!!
