Welcome dolly! You may find that the dairy impedes weight loss as well, so it might be worth trying to leave it out for a couple of days. DS1 had terrible colic, so I know what you're suffering. In my case, it seemed that garlic and chillies were a trigger. My GP, an Indian lady, told me that she never ate curry when she was breast feeding!

The hot/shaky/weak think could be carb withdrawal, although how much you get it depends on how carby your 'normal' diet was. Keep your salt levels up and that should help.

dollyxdaydreamer · 04/09/2012 09:24

Thanks BIWI

Oh no!!! My entire diet pretty much consists of garlicky chilli concoctions! I have chilli withdrawal if I go a couple of days without my hit...

So in the name of weight loss and sanity, I'll go easy on the dairy and garlic/chillis Does that leave me with boring meat and two veg?

Will be salting my food (for the first time in years!)

Hello all new people and welcome Smile

auntiemaggie - I think Total greek yog is no way as sour as natural yog - I much prefer it. Try adding a teeny tiny splash of vanilla essence?

Have told DD to stop the home baking NOW! She does it a little too much for my liking..... after last night's cookie binge however I have dropped a pound. But the way my body does things, I will be putting it back on again tomorrow! Will try to be extra good today. I'm looking forward to 1st October when I'm going to really start going for it. Also, DCs back to school tomorrow. So I might attempt the shred.... (it's impossible to do it when they are around - 3 slender and beautiful girls sniggering at their wobbly mother etc. etc. you know the rest Wink)

vnmum · 04/09/2012 10:18

Morning all.
Happy Birthday half!
Ok, I decided to use yesterdays weight as my weigh in, that would have been my normal weigh day. 9st 11 3/4lb so thats a 1lb loss from last monday. It is only 1lb heavier than my weight after a fast day.

So the results are in from the experiment and the weight loss in my case was not spectacular although according to my scales I have lost 0.6% body fat in a week. The fasts get easier the more you do them and I found I didn't need to eat as much the second time as the first day. So really it seem s it will be health benefits rather than weight loss for me if I continue

hazchem · 04/09/2012 10:19

princess I too had emmental lasagne for breaky! It made such a change from eggs!

I noticed yesterday that my broccoli tasted really sweet. I wonder if I really am changing my taste buds.

Weighing in tonight not looking forward to it because I was a great big piggy yesterday and ate so much cheese you wouldn't believe it.

Jins · 04/09/2012 10:51

I'm so pleased the emmenthal lasagne has been a success Grin

I found it very useful to have a few individual portions frozen. We have friends who frequently ask us for dinner, frequently check with me that I'm still a coeliac Confused and frequently check what foods contain gluten. Inevitably I get there to find a sauce thickened with flour, oven chips (very few are gluten free) and more often than not something containing cous cous. Having a frozen lasagne has become a bit of a standing joke

NotMostPeople · 04/09/2012 10:54

I'm pleased to report that I've only gained one lb which puts me back at 10st 7lbs. I shouldn't really be pleased as this is exactly where I was at the beginning of the school holidays if I'd stuck to low carb the whole way through I could have been at my target weight of 10stone.

Has anyone had any problems with their partners about the weight loss? My DH is beginning to make noises about me not loosing any more as he doesn't want me to be too 'stick like'. My BMI is 22.90 so I'm still very much in the healthy weight zone and can afford to lose quite a bit without being unhealthy so I think he's expressing a personal preference. The feminist in me says I shouldn't be influenced by him but at the same time we have a very happy marriage based on give and take. My 10 stone target was sort of negotiated as I'd like to get to 9.7 but he's worried it'll be too much.

Thegoddessblossom · 04/09/2012 11:19

Happy birthday Half!! Grin Thanks

NMP - maybe don't tell him your exact weight? If you want to be 9 7 then go for it but just tell him you are 10?

Jins · 04/09/2012 11:21

I think that taking other people's advice on weight loss is quite a good idea. Just bear in mind that when they tell you that you've lost enough there's half a stone to go :)

Happy birthday Half!!

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/09/2012 12:53

Happy birthday half

haz great minds think alike Wink

Welcome to all the newbies Smile

Breakfast and lunch done, housework done... DP at work DS 1 at school and DS 2 asleep... Now what?! It's weird this time to myself!

Lorelilee · 04/09/2012 13:34

Hi guys - just checking in - have lost 2lb this week - HURRAH!

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/09/2012 13:36

lorelilee woop woop! Well done Smile

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 04/09/2012 13:42

NMP, is he worried your boobs will vanish? My DH is concerned about this. Hmm Or do you think he's worried about you being underweight? How do you feel about your body now? A BMI of 22.9 is brilliant.

Happy birthday, Half!

Dolly, I felt really rough on days 3/4 too - I honestly think it had to do with bf, because DH was doing it with me and his diet was, if anything, even higher in crappy carbs than mine, and he felt fine, just a bit headachey. Push through it!

I was reading a bit yesterday about saggy tummy skin weight and muscle tone, where the author was advocating gaining muscle to look slimmer. He said many women post-pg would be back at their original weight but still have loose skin/flab on their tummies. However, during pg and possibly during weight loss, they would have lost muscle, which they would need to regain to return to their original body composition. Interesting - it's all pointing to doing the bloody Shred, because I can't afford or get to a gym.

Has anyone got any good recipes for slices of belly pork? I've got some in the freezer but I'm not really sure what to do with it.

NotMostPeople · 04/09/2012 14:12

TooImmature - yes it may well have something to do with it as I've already dropped a cup size, so am now a B - not exactly brimming over. If I stay the size I am forever I will be very happy, but it would be lovely to lose the little muffin top.

Am watching about the belly pork slices as I too have some in the freezer (must shop in the same places).

BIWI · 04/09/2012 14:27

Happy birthday half! thanks]

BIWI · 04/09/2012 14:28

Whoops Thanks

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/09/2012 14:47

Happy birthday!

Don't know about in ketosis not feeling hungry, I woke up at 3 last night absolutely starving, completely hollow with it, don't now what that was all about. Today is as normal. Weird or what?!

SharonGless · 04/09/2012 15:29

Happy birthday half

So cross with myself I made a lovely salad for lunch which I left on side in the kitchen. Didn't get chance to go out for lunch and therefore got tempted into eating cake which some one brought today who was leaving

Fuckety fuck

BIWI · 04/09/2012 17:04

Should I get shouty, Sharon? Wink Grin

teaandthorazine · 04/09/2012 17:04

Happy Birthday half! And hello to all newbies and de-lurkers - you will sooooo love this WOE.

Last night's dinner was low-carb sausages with butternut and garlic mash, buttered cabbage and green beans. Did have a couple of squares of 85% choc afterwards. Am off the booze this week after a rather heavy weekend...

Today have had a cappuccino and a babybel! Haven't felt at all hungry - seemed to have got back into ketosis really quickly which is a plus. Used a uristick at work and it went almost-purple but think that's probably more down to lack of water than anything else.

Have just managed to persuade dp that we need to celebrate his first day in new job with bunless burgers at a new place nearby - yay!

Nigella - Grin @ 'incredibly boring' exercise, oh me too! But as you say, the weight still seems to come off so...

PrincessSparkle86 · 04/09/2012 17:08

Me again... Just wondering does anyone have/ know where i can get a recipe for a low carb satay style sauce?

Ive got one in the cupboard which keeps winking at me but it'll be too carby!!

BIWI · 04/09/2012 17:13

There's one here

It's an American site, so you'll have to work with cups (I never can).

BIWI · 04/09/2012 17:15

Here's another one

MsRinky · 04/09/2012 17:17

Hello. I fell off the wagon a bit. I had a week of insane job related pressure which led to me working around the clock and eating mainly crap from vending machines, and then I went to a festival where there were burritos and momos and pizza and gallons of cider.

I'm shopping tonight though and have planned out my meals for the rest of the week. And I'm looking forward to autumn - I've had so much social stuff on this summer and it's kind of a relief to not have much planned for the next couple of months so I can get really get my head down and focus.
