I have been bingeing on DD's homemade cookies.
What is wrong with me!!!!!!!
oh well, tomorrow is another day....

SharonGless · 03/09/2012 20:54

I am getting back in the zone today although have not drink enough water
B Greek yoghurt and strawberries
L peri peri chicken and salad with dollop of mayo
D left over gammon carbonara with courgette ribbons
Snacks: nuts and salami and Philly rolls

Shattered today as back to work and up with both DC during the night. They have been sharing a room and/or a bed for last month plus late nights so completely out of routine. It's going to be a painful fw days I felt. Dd starts reception this week so will be emotional too

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 03/09/2012 20:59

Dinner: Turkey steaks on buttered cabbage with creamy peppercorn sauce. Mmm.

Nigella, I would find it impossible to resist actual warm homemade cookies in the same house as me! Tell your DD to stop baking cookies around you.

BIWI · 03/09/2012 21:07

Today:

B - 1 poached egg, 1 cup coffee
L - pork chop and mushrooms fried in butter
S - couple of slices of the breast of lamb, just for testing purposes Blush
D - pork fillet slices ( marinated in sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, lemon juice) stir fried with broccoli, and served in a chicken stock broth, with mushrooms, chilli and thinly sliced cabbage

water - 3 litres so far

NotMostPeople · 03/09/2012 21:29

Oh yes - I forgot about the water argh.

EwanHoozami · 03/09/2012 21:33

Hello, would you mind if I tagged along? I've been heading towards low-carb for a while and have just finished Briffa and it all makes such jolly good sense.

I'm 36, 12 stone-ish and had a gigantic 11lb DS2 a few months ago. My stomach resembles a beached jellyfish. Sometimes I prod it suspiciously as if it were one..

I'm busy getting my head around the rules. I kept making balls-ups on my own . I think I get the basics, but I filled up on cashews, butternut and stilton for example, thinking it was all groovy and protein-tastic Confused

Need to shake my addiction to the sugar-rama that is Muller Corners and their norty friends Activia. I best trot off and get some full-fat Total, eh?

BIWI · 03/09/2012 21:35

Welcome, Ewan! There is a 'proper' Bootcamp coming up starting on 1 October, but until then we're all doing our own thing and just generally chatting and offering support. Any questions, just shout!

SharonGless · 03/09/2012 21:39

Hi Ewan and welcome. Just join right in- muller are the work of the devil! Full fat total Greek yoghurt is your friend

BIWI I remember you linking to some scales ages ago- could you find the link. Mine have died since DH used them to weigh the cases before Hols. I am taking this as a VERY BAD sign

SharonGless · 03/09/2012 21:43

Notmostpeople, welcome back! You were doing brilliantly before the Hols and can get back in the zone with the rest of us who have fallen off the wagon. If my replacement scales which are shite are to be believed I have put on 8lbs which I am gutted about but period is about to start and need to get drinking water. We have done it once we can do it again. Tea has it right, puddings and high carb stuff doesn't even taste that nice. For me it was the alcohol which sent me off track then convenience of buying food whilst out. When at home and in my normal routine I love this WOE

BIWI · 03/09/2012 21:55

Your wish is my command!

SharonGless · 03/09/2012 22:06

Cheers me dear, now then if they don't arrive for a week I might just be ok Hmm

I see I missed your birthday so many happy returns for last week, hope you had a good un!

Have there been some name changes whilst I was away . I think I need a new spreadsheet!

BIWI · 03/09/2012 22:07

Thanks! It was good. But glad to have 'got it out of the way' IYSWIM, so that I could get back to low carbing.

I haven't dared get on the scales. First session back at the gym was awful Blush. Back again tomorrow, so definitely back on track now.

AuntieMaggie · 03/09/2012 22:10

Is total as sour as natural yogurt?

B: bacon at about 11 after hospital appt
L: mozzarella and salad
D: 2 lamb chops and salad

well my sweet tooth has gone - threw away a can of sprite after one mouthful today. i wanted something more refreshing than water.

I'm away on 1 Oct but will join bootcamp the week after when I get back.

SharonGless · 03/09/2012 22:11

Think most of us have slipped a little over the Hols. It has been so hectic for last month that I am glad to get back to normal. Getting back into my running this week. I did do an hour of aqua aerobics every day on Hols plus swimming and walking so not too bad

Viperidae · 03/09/2012 22:26

My scales bring an element of chance into weighing yourself so I might have to invest in some new ones. On Saturday I weighed myself and they said ?stones and 2lb which was obviously wrong, no way I had lost 9lb in a week so I went for a wee, came back, tried again and had gone up 4lb to ?stone 6!

half I'm being really dumb but what kind of temperature did you do the belly pork on? I'm worried if mine was hard after 3hrs it might be incinerated after 4 if I'm doing it too hot.

MrsHerculePoirot · 03/09/2012 23:01

'slipped a little' - I appear to have been in a full on land slide for the last two weeks!!!! It will be a long climb back up.....

OP posts:
halfthesize · 03/09/2012 23:13

Viperidae Smile I do it on 120 for the 1st 3 1/2 hours, covered with tinfoil, then turn it up if needed just to crisp up the fat. This is for a joint of Belly of pork.

The other way I have tried is in the slow cooker for a day and then take out and pop in the oven on high for the last 20 mins to crisp. Hope this helps x

Viperidae · 03/09/2012 23:35

Thank you. I think I've had it too hot, I did it at 180.
Mine were like big rib slicey things, not a joint, but my slow cooker is a round one and they wouldn't fit in it or I might have tried that.
Will try it your way next time, I'm sure it will be an improvement.

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 04/09/2012 07:23

9 stone 13 and three-quarters! Grin Grin Why couldn't that have happened yesterday on weigh-in day?

sybilfaulty · 04/09/2012 07:39

Well done Tooimmature, brilliant.

Love the pork belly talk. I think long and slow, with a good blast at the beginning (or should it be the end) to crisp the skin.

Good day yest, but I did succumb to a glass of wine as my DD1 drove me round the bend. Big swim tonight though to atone.

Thegoddessblossom · 04/09/2012 08:25

Clinging on to 9 2 by the skin of my teeth. Cutting waaaay back on the alcohol now.

Greek yoghurt (total) for breakfast. Maggie I find it very creamy and lush, not sour at all.

halfthesize · 04/09/2012 08:34

Good Morning All

Viperidae if its the strips I cook for about 1 1/2 hour on 150, hope this helps x

Well I am sitting back relaxing whilst my DH & DC cook me breakfast as its my Birthday today, off out for something to eat later also and then a fun packed celebration weekend planned. I will try to be good but not stressing if I slip a little.Wink

TITD well done Grin

sybilfaulty · 04/09/2012 08:45

Happy birthday Halfthesize. Have a geeat day

sybilfaulty · 04/09/2012 08:46

Arse, Great day Smile

dollyxdaydreamer · 04/09/2012 09:03

Hi, can I join? This is my second attempt at low-carbing, could do with the support to keep me on the straight and narrow and away from the crisps and chocolate digestives!

I don't have much to lose, but as a classic "apple" I'd just like to be healthier and get rid of my carb belly. My Mum is an apple and doesn't look healthy for it, I'd like to nip this in the bud and try to avoid the same fate.

Yesterday I had:
B: 3 scrambled eggs cooked in coconut oil and buttered spinach
L: cauliflower cheese (made with cream cheese, double cream and cheddar)
D: stir fry prawns with broccoli and red pepper, with beansprouts as noodles, in a chilli coriander sauce thing.
Plus 2.5 litres of water and 2 cups of tea with milk.

Does that sound ok?? Is there room for improvement? I can't believe I'd lose on that as it seems a lot but I have faith!

I'm currently bfing dc2 who has terrible screaming fits every evening (colic?), very windy. I heard cutting out dairy is a good idea, bit not sure what that would leave me to eat! Where is my pleasure without cream and cheese!!!

I woke up this morning feeling hot, sweaty, shaky and weak - not sure what that is about. So far have had 2 cups or tea and some Greek yoghurt as was starving and wanted sonething quick. Might leave dairy for the rest of the day as the screaming is too much to bear...

Not sure what's for lunch or dinner, have a friend staying over later so want to cook something safe as opposed to getting a takeaway, too many temptations!
