sparkle I also love having a soda or 2 a day, but that's a habit I've been trying to kick for years, so I'm much better about it now. However, one of the Tesco shops near us has just started stocking Root Beer (I'm originally from the States), and it's killing me not to continue having one a day!

Water or juice just doesn't cut it sometimes!

RGPargy · 01/08/2012 20:16

mommy yes your body adjusts don't worry :-)

piratecat · 01/08/2012 20:26

hello everyone. ages since i was here. dd was ill and had an enlarged ovary, hospital, mum came over from abroad, ex inlaws were here and my laptop's out of action.

them's my excuses anyhow :)

I was 11 12 when i started in jan, and wanted to get to 10 10. Then i decided i would like to be wedding weight by time summer hols came. I am now at that weight 10. 03. But bloody hell the last 9lbs have taken 14 weeks to shift. The last 3 lbs have been on and off more frequently than my waterproof jacket, and taken 5 weeks to lose.

I am going to keep going tho. nice to see everyone, i need to catch up.x

piratecat · 01/08/2012 20:27

biggest downfall is now cinema sweet popcorn, which is ok if i don't scoff a whole bag.

wheredidiputit · 01/08/2012 20:39

Mommyupnorth.

I start with dinner then work backwards from there. This mainly so DH can work out his snacks, after his breakfast and lunch.

Could you factor in a Root Beer at the start of the day and just remove it if you don't have it.

cinnamongreyhound · 01/08/2012 21:15

I was hungry for about 3 weeks MommyUpNorth and now I'm struggling to eat more as I'm trying to maintain rather than lose!

That's fab piratecat!!! Sorry you've had a rough/hectic time but well done for keeping going!

MommyUpNorth · 02/08/2012 07:02

Thanks for the reassurance about the hunger. I think I'll just work through it then!

I'm really getting a bit obsessive about the exercise now. Getting the shred done in the am, and then making sure to get a dog walk in (dd normally does it)... I'm sure he's loving all the extra exercise as well! Today trying to work out if I can manage 2 rounds of the river walk while ds is at rugby. :)

wheredidiputit that's a great tip. I think I will start with the dinner (& root beer!). I'm just about to recalculate my coffee nutrition as the total seems a little off on mfp.

Hope everyone does great today! :)

Groovee · 02/08/2012 13:45

If I feel hungry, I look to drink a glass of water as sometimes we're thirsty but we think we're hungry.

Just had a mcdonald's salad for lunch. It was actually nice. But I did have a mcflurry as my exercise bumped up my calories. We took a walk along a nice path which had lots of bikes, scooters etc. Am tired now.

MommyUpNorth · 02/08/2012 15:15

Does anyone have a yoga dvd that they could recommend? I started (again!) the 30DS on Monday and all is going fine, but I'm struggling with the end stretching session!

I really need to add in something to get more flexible. We don't have a gym offering classes or anything like that nearby, so it has to be dvd really.

If there are any other favourite dvds, I'd love to hear about those as well... just added the ripped in 30 to my amazon basket! :)

PinkCustard · 02/08/2012 17:03

Mommy I find I really have to make sure I fit some exercise in so that my cals allowance is increased from 1200 - otherwise I really struggle. I don't always eat ALL of my exercise cals back, but if I'm really hungry I will.

I also love a cold glass of Pepsi Max in the afternoon - I only have one and I can't imagine it does me that much harm (does it??!!).

Finally saw a drop on the scales this morning - down 2lbs Woohoo!

twinkle183 · 02/08/2012 17:49

Well ladies looks like everyone is making good progress!!!

I am hammering the exercise and am becoming rather obsessive Hmm! Sorry I have been MIA, have been sorting out loose ends at uni to end my 2nd yr... One more to do and am free of essays!!! Can't wait...

Is anyone else being driven up the wall by the kids??

Welcome to the newbies... My name is the same on here!! Am still loving Insanity and am alot more active on mfp than on her but feel free to add me!! Xxx

Keep going girls we're get there!! Smile

wheredidiputit · 02/08/2012 19:28

Yep.

I have a stroppy 8 yr old dd who wants to be alone, dd2 is nearly 5 and wants to be with older sister and ds is 3.6 and is well 3.

Still only 5 weeks and they will all be back at school/nursery and I will be able to fit in some exercise in the morning again.

wheredidiputit · 02/08/2012 19:29

I'm power1969 on MFP if anyone wants to add me.

Lolalollipop · 02/08/2012 19:34

Please can I join? Started on mfp last wk and did really well. Totally fallen off the wagon this week, been starving! Thinking being on thread might keep me motivated? Well done everyone who is losing Smile

twinkle183 · 02/08/2012 20:40

Lolalollipop welcome... We've fallen off the wagon so don't worry about it!! Just pick yourself up and start again.... You won't find any judgement here just encouragement and advice! The girls are great on here and have help loose a good amount of weight....

Am stuck now at about 10stone put the same few pounds on and then loose them which is completely frustrating am really getting desperate now to loose them!!! I have managed to nail the exercise now so it's just the diet healthy eating that I struggle with.. Pre kiddies I was able to eat whatever I wanted and not put a pound on!!

Am struggling even after nearlt 9 years to come to terms with the fact that I only have to look at a cake now and I put on 3lbs!!! Maybe by admitting it, this will help me!! Smile

EightToSixer · 02/08/2012 21:26

According to MFP, my 65 minute swim this evening burnt 1408 calories. That seems really high surely. I did 54 lengths of breast stroke, 1.35kms, but still, that's a lot! Do you think it's wrong?

ObviouslyItsTheOlympics · 02/08/2012 22:57

Have you set it to your actual weight?

RGPargy · 02/08/2012 23:14

Eight Yes, it is likely to be wrong. MFP has a terrible habit of seriously over estimating the amount of calories burned. For instance, if i do a step class and burn around 450 calories according to my heart rate monitor, MFP will try and tell me that i've burned 896!!! Shock

MommyUpNorth · 03/08/2012 09:19

I've just very nervously opened my food diary to friends only, but looking at lots of other diary entries there is a real lack of 'junk food'! Not even a sneaky piece of choc or soda or anything! Wow! I'm not really wanting to give up everything, but maybe everyone else has been with it for longer! I'll just try to embrace the exercise for the moment! :) (MommyPurl on MFP if anyone wants to add me)

I'm quite interested in the protein shakes for breakfast though. I've never been much of a breakfast eater... usually just tea or coffee, but then another cuppa & biscuits after the school run. Since we're on the holidays for another week now would be the time to kick the habit! :)

Goingunderfast · 03/08/2012 09:54

Hi all im on mfp to and have been for a year on off Blush but back on track now and have been for 45 days and lost a stone please feel free to add me I'm on mfp as kate1975. Good luck people x

aliciaflorrick · 03/08/2012 10:10

Mommy you need to look at my diary I sadly live off junk food, in fact I'm very much the person who will skip lunch just so she can have a slice of cake - which I'm seriously considering doing today as there is a muffin in the fridge screaming out to me to eat it.

I used to think I was a healthy eater, but since logging everything on MFP I've realised eating a piece of melon and a yoghurt every day isn't really that healthy.

MommyUpNorth · 03/08/2012 11:34

aliciaflorrick thanks for posting that... I don't feel so bad now. I'm exactly the same about healthy eating. I thought I was ok (ish) until I started logging on MFP! I tend to check the database before sticking anything in my mouth which is the only reason I'm staying near to my calorie ration, but I'm finding that all my waking thoughts are of either food or exercise!

Watching the kids eat cookies while not having any myself has been a great test of willpower. And for the first time in my life I bought them cream buns from the bakery, but bought nothing for me! I was actually pleased with myself, but still feeling very hungry all the time!!

I think the trick to all of this is the excercise. Even though I feel like I'm doing a lot, seeing what others are doing in a day makes me think I need to do more if I want to eat a bit more! Might up the shredding to twice a day! Grin

Better get out for a walk while the sun is still shining!

Groovee · 03/08/2012 14:16

I'm looking for a Pilate's dvd as my physio recommended it. But have no idea where to start looking for one.

I'm not eating too much sweet things. I don't want them. I even went in to McDonald's and ate a salad but I did have a mcflurry.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/08/2012 15:06

I make sure I have enough calories for snacks MommyUpNorth or I wouldn't be able to stick with it! I have cut down A LOT on snacking as I would eat a large bag of revels/half packet of biscuits/half a chocolate chip brioche/half large bar of chocolate every evening. You are not alone in needing/wanting treats and I think if you watch diaries for more than a few days most people have treats at least some days of the week. I am trying hard to have fruit and/or veg with every meal at the moment.

Welcome back Goingunderfast! A stone in 45 days is pretty good :)

sparkleshine · 03/08/2012 15:21

hey ladies

I'm also one for eating junk food, and not logging extras. I try and get at least 2 bits of fruit in a day, but my veg intake is awful most days.
Was going to the gym today as DS in nursery and I'm off work for 2 weeks but I feel crap today and already breakfast.
I am so wanting a KFC tonight!!!!
But Mcflurrys mmmm!

Never done pilates myself so wouldn't know which DVD is best.

well done on your will power mommyupnorth for the sweet stuff. I also need to increase my exercise but I've been saying that for ages now

well done piratecat and welcome back into it again. Sorry you have had such a crap time. Hope your DD is well

I've also thought that the calories burnt on exercise on MFP are a little OTT. At the gym I use the keyfob that goes into the machines and records my session and cals burnt so at least I know. Maybe it tailors to whatever your own BMI is rather than generalised. Not sure.
