Well done all who have lost weight.
Newbies feel free to add me, same name as on here.

It is my 2 dc christening in October, I am getting excited but also annoyed as some family just see it as a get together and excuse for a party, ignoring the actual meaning Hmm

Elainey1609 · 30/07/2012 15:49

Hiya

Just thought id update everyone, just lost 10lb this week, after first full week of following mfp.....so very pleased..thanks for the support.
Hope everyone else is doing ok this week...

Any tips of meals you can cook on stove rather than the oven as mine has finally given up having trouble thinking of meals

wheredidiputit · 30/07/2012 17:26

Pasta and sauce/meat
Rice with meat or veg
stir fries.

Try this web site they have lots of receipe you can o.

tostaky · 30/07/2012 20:52

So tired I want to eat a big plate of creamy pasta with lots of cheese and tomato sauce... More likely I won't eat anything and fall asleep on the sofa while waiting for DP to come home from work...

Well done on the losses everyone! I too find clothes shopping motivating! Everyday I walk past the window of whistle (clothe shop) and they have very skinny models in their windows - that never fail to motivate me!!
Feel free to add me on mfp, I'm tostaky Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 30/07/2012 21:35

Maybe you should incease you calories a bit sparkleshine to make it more achievable and if you stay under then that's good too. I know what you mean about skin, I am now 9st 10 so not a huge amount of me and I have a little pouch just above my belly button as well as loose skin on my arms and thighs, just a matter of time I hope. I really wanted a round belly button when I started out and now even though I am lighter than I expected I still have a kind of crescent shaped belly button :(

I think that's probably because for a lot of people these days that's what Christenings are about MonsterBookOfTysons!

Well done Elainey1609, that's amazing weight loss!!!

I have those things Wheredidiputit just in small portions but will definitely check out the link :)

RGPargy · 30/07/2012 22:16

Amazing loss, Sparkle, well done!! :o

Well done to you too Elainey - that's amazing!

Today has been a fab day for me, food wise! I've kept on the straight and narrow with much ease and had to make myself some cream crackers and peanut butter to pull my calories up quite a bit. :o I'm very determined to get back on the straight and narrow and see the pounds come off.

Off to bed to get an early night so as not to feel tired and crave naughty carbs Wink

N'night all!

karatekimmi · 31/07/2012 04:30

Well after a week of mini kimmi sleeping through we are back to 4am feeds!! Argh!
I've been really pleased with my running, managed to follow my training plan so far, early days I know, but I'd love to be as good as some of you guys!!
I've been really pleased food wise as well managing to have my 5 a day fairly easily, although helped by rhubarb crumble ! Yum!

RGPargy · 31/07/2012 07:43

Well done on the running and food kimmi. I'm not a runner and always find it really uncomfortable lol. Might have something to do with my flab wobbling....... Hmm. Shame about the 4am feeds tho. That sucks!

sweetkitty · 31/07/2012 07:46

Hi can I join too? I have about 10lbs to lose, lost 2lbs then another 2lbs put but that back on, I'm really struggling TBH I'm only allowed 1210 cals a day, I'm always starving, yesterday I fell off the wagon completely with a huge bag of kettle chips. Once I've had breakfast and lunch I've only got about 500 cals for dinner, really struggling. Exercise is difficult too have 4 young DCs.

MommyUpNorth · 31/07/2012 08:25

Hello everyone! Total newbie here to the whole fitness thing, but have been lurking on various threads and have now signed up to myfitnesspal in the hopes of losing 18.8 pounds! :) Yesterday was my first day of logging everything in, and I'm under the name MommyPurl on there if anyone is looking for friends to keep motivated. I've never really gone on any sort of 'diet' before, but as our youngest is 5, I think it's time to make more of an effort to shift the pounds that have crept on.

My biggest downfall is evening snacking and extra drinks (hot choc, chai latte, etc)... and bread/pastry! Looking at the calories in all bread products in MFP I am totally shocked. So switched over to some Hovis wheatgerm to get my little fix in the morning... but I really don't want to cut out completely.

I'm also totally rubbish of finding any motivation for exercise, but got out the Shred last night and did level 1 & then again this morning (so I couldn't make any excuses). :)

Feeling very positive at the moment, but that can all change very suddenly! Will continue to skim through this thread to get all the great tips, and will hopefully post again shortly!

ObviouslyItsTheOlympics · 31/07/2012 16:10

Sorry I've been away from the thread - work is mental with the Olympics!
I'm back on MFP since yesterday and also think my hamstring is almost better so I'll be running again too.

I realised that I've not been getting enough calories as I still feed 18 month DS 3-5 times a day. Does anyone know whether I should add 200 or 300 calories?

RGPargy · 31/07/2012 22:10

Oh rat bags!! I have a dilema!!

Wednesdays is one of the best days at the gym as it is just soooo much fun. We have such a laugh and i always come out of there with aching sides and yet more laughter lines! :o

Anyway, my mum friends want to meet up tomorrow and they want to meet up at 11am (slap bang in the middle of my gym session! Shock) but worst of all, they want to meet up at a PARK!! I should point out that i HATE sitting in parks (this one has stuff for the kids to do and a cafe) and will it even more that it will be selling things like cakes, chips and all things yummy when i am trying so hard to be good!

I dont see my mum friends very often so in theory i really should go and meet with them but on the other hand this is the last day that our step instructor is in for 3 weeks as she will be away on holiday.

Am i being a saddo re the gym?? WWYD?!! Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 31/07/2012 22:24

I'd say sorry it's a bit late notice, I have something on but I can meet you there a bit later on (hopefully when theyve all had lunch) :)

Jinsei · 31/07/2012 22:24

Hello, can I join? Have been doing MFP for just over five weeks now, and am doing really well - I have lost over a stone so far, despite having visitors last week and drinking a little too much wine. Blush

I have been eating more simply this week, now that our guests have gone, and my calorie intake has dropped accordingly. I'm feeling fine, finding it very easy and actually not depriving myself at all - on the contrary, I feel I'm eating quite well, just choosing more wisely. However, MFP keeps telling me that I'm not eating enough calories and that I'll be putting my body into starvation mode. Hmm

I'm averaging around 1100-1150 calories a day, and don't feel hungry so I'm loathe to stuff in more calories that I don't even want - seems counter-intuitive when I'm trying to lose weight! However, I know my metabolism may slow down if I don't eat enough, so don't want to get into that situation. Is 1100 calories a day really too low?

Not sure if it's relevant, but I have a lot of weight to lose (around six stone to go Blush ). The food I have been eating has been reasonably healthy - porridge & fruit for breakfast, sandwich & fruit for lunch, fish or other lean protein for dinner, with salad or veg etc. If I'm not hungry, will my metabolism really slow down?

RGPargy · 31/07/2012 22:45

Hello and welcome Jinsei! Sounds like you are doing fab so far - well done to you! My calorie allowance is 1720 but when i'm being very good i rarely get up that high but always try and make sure i'm eating at least 1200 a day as i dont want MFP to tell me off!! I also have around 6 stone to lose so you're not alone on that one! I would just try and up your cals a little to stop MFP moaning at you! Wink

Cinnamon Well, it's not like i didn't know about it weeks ago because a text was bounced around asking if we were all free on 1st Aug. I said I was but have heard nothing at all about it until this morning!

I suppose for the sake of DD I really should go as she will love it and hasn't seen her friends for a long time...... Oh god.... it's half term and is going to be MURDER!!!!

RGPargy · 01/08/2012 08:38

Ok I have decided to just do one class today and get showered etc during the second one instead. This should also give me half an hour with my weds gym buds and then I should get to the park for 12.30 instead of 11am. Phew!

BehindLaneNumberNine · 01/08/2012 08:54

Hello all,

Sorry I have not been on here much, been on mfp itself more.
Very happy to report that as of this morning I have lost 17.7kilos. My half way point is 17.75kilos so only a 0.05th away from being half way!!

I am going to log today and then I am on holiday for a week with limited internet access. So I have decided to take a week off. My half-way break! I will of course be careful with what I eat and I think we will be walking a fair bit so hopefully I won't put too much on (will try really hard not to put any on but I know there will be the odd ice cream and the odd glass of wine...)

When I get back from holiday I will resume my logging and want to try and lose the second half of my excess weight in no more than the same number of days Grin

sparkleshine · 01/08/2012 10:48

Well I have changed my target weight loss from 2lbs per week to 1lb and MFP have upped my daily allowance from 1200 to 1640! Thats a huge increase so don't think I will manage it

well done behindlane for your weight loss. Hope you enjoy your holiday and don't worry if you aren't good all the time, thats what holidays are for.

Enjoy your workout and mummmy day out today RGPargy

Welcome jinsei Well done on your weight loss so far, thats great! I've also got over 6 stone to lose..more like 7, so you're not alone, though I'm nearly there. It takes time and patience. I do think you should increase your calories to at least 1200 a day, that is the minimum for everyone thats why it warns you. The odd day won't matter but not daily.
Maybe try bulking up your cals with some nuts, raisins, small squares or treat size of chocolate, fruit or a slice of toast. There are ways of getting that 100/150 cals more without stuffing yourself.
Thats what I used to do in the beginning...now I over indulge all the time! ooops!

olympics I didn't do MFP when breast feeding but another lady actually records it on MFP if you type breastfeeding in the food section. 1 feed per day is -300 cals so increase your cals by 300, or 1oz is -20 cals, but obviously depending on how long your feed him for.

welcome sweetkitty and mummyupnorth hope your MFP journey goes well. :)
My problem is soft drinks and specifically diet coke. Its only 1 cal per 250ml so I drink it like water but its not good for me either. I don't drink tea/coffee that often so only have cordial left.
Bread is a downfall also with me. I buy the lowest cal bread at home, such as warburtons thins or their small loaf at 58cal a slice or tesco own at 55, rather than the loaves that are 80-100 cals each.

RGPargy · 01/08/2012 11:21

Enjoy your holiday behind Grin

Did step this morning and I can't believe the difference in my energy levels after just 2 days (I'm on day 3 of low carbing). I practically flew over the step today lol. I'm also 5lb down since monday's weigh in but obviously I won't take my weight as gospel until Monday itself. Wink

sweetkitty · 01/08/2012 11:59

I've had two weetabix with semi skimmed milk today and feel so hungry I feel faint :( oh had a handful of raisins too.

LollipopViolet · 01/08/2012 12:25

Hi everyone.

I'm 13 stone again, gained a pound last week. Am now giving up fizzy drinks, so hopefully that'll help some of the weight move on.

Going to have WeightWatchers pasta pot thing for lunch in a bit.

ihatethecold · 01/08/2012 13:19

sweetkitty,
try to have protein like eggs if you are hungry for breakfast you will feel full up for much longer than just carbs like toast or cereal .

nimbs · 01/08/2012 13:26

Hello! Have had a very indulgent weekend again - well long weekend as I was at my mums, who is a bit of a feeder - and had a bit too much wine (logged it all though so not all bad) - so back on MFP to be good now!!

Well done to everyone on their losses

CleoSmackYa · 01/08/2012 13:43

Feel free to add me. I'm missmatildamoonshine Really need shaming into exercising more!

MommyUpNorth · 01/08/2012 16:52

I think this is the first time in ages I have actually felt hungry. My stomach has been rumbling multiple times a day. Trying to just have a glass of water and forget about it, but it's quite difficult!

MFP has given me 1300 calories per day, and I try to enter my dinner items in the afternoon so I know if I can have a snack or not! I'd rather go over by having a filling dinner though than grabbing the handful (or 3!) of peanut m&m's calling me from the kitchen! Grin

Do the hunger pains go once your body starts to adjust to being on a diet, or do you just have to put up with it to get the weight off?
