Well done!

PostBellumBugsy · 09/03/2012 13:44

Wow, Queen that is an amazing running total you have there.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 09/03/2012 15:17

Wow at 47lbs - that is really brilliant. What is that in old money . Over 3 stone. Well done.

kandinsky that sounds like a lovely menu - summery food in the first days of spring is lovely, everyone has been eating stodeg all winter so it is lovely to have something a lot lighter.

I agree fajita mixes are really high carb, they have a lot of thickener I think in them. You can do the mix yourself - cumin, chilli powder, paprika and oregano are what I use (and salt and pepper) - surely the carb count on that lot is negligible.

I weighed myself this morning - 10.12 still which is the same as i was last week, but I am very pleased as I assumed I would have put on weight after a whole weekend of wine and rich food. Which makes me think - when I have got to my target weight I can eat strictly low carb all week, and be relaxed at the weekend and hopefully it won't impact my weight (this scientific study is based on one weekend's experiemnt!)

Tentatively adding my weightloss so far on. Hopefully it will stick. If I stay below 10 11 for 5 consequective days, I get a treat - new trainers! I have lots of little incentives like that lined up, inclduing a shopping spree when I get into the "Normal" BMI catergory (currently 26.6 so not too far to go). Hoping the new trainers will assist the weightloss. I am much more active since Christmas which I am starting to enjoy.

Am going for a run tonight before packing for a night away with DH tomorrow and then collapsing on the sofa to watch some crap TV.

Haven't weighed myself for a while, but another pound off, hooray. I realise I am a weight-loss minnow in comparison to some of you, though....some pretty life-changing numbers in that list.

I just made some of those Oopsie rolls, but I think I may have been a little over-vigorous in my "folding" because the mixture collapsed faster than the Greek economy, and the rolls ended up rather....flat. But they were nevertheless extremely scrummy, and I ate three of them with a bowl of home-made stilton and cauliflower soup for lunch.

I am having a day off on Sunday, as I have 14 people for lunch, and I am not making sticky toffee pudding and watching everyone else eat it, goddammit! I've been reading about "carb creep", though, and that is exactly what I fell into after Christmas, so just one day off is allowed.

BIWI · 09/03/2012 19:42

We're having people over for dinner tomorrow, and one of my guests is vegetarian who is also on a low calorie diet, so it's been a bit tricky planning the menu!

I'm making:

Roasted tomato and fennel soup, with home-made olive bread (I won't be having the bread, obviously)

Roasted cod with Puy lentils, new potatoes and salad (no potatoes and minimal lentils for me)

Lemon posset with vanilla and orange zaletti biscuits (which are absolutely scrummy and definitely not for me - I haven't made a pudding for me to stop me caving in!)

A cheese board - which I will obviously be diving head first into after all that lot.

CheerfulYank · 09/03/2012 19:55

I should weigh myself today...I went to bed very late and woke up very late and so didn't eat for about 15 hours. :D

My scale isn't working so I am weighing myself at my friend's. I see her every few weeks, so that's good. I know if I do it daily I will get upset about little fluctuations and might fall off the wagon.

That sounds really good BIWI! :)

I think I have eaten all the turkey in the house...going to move on to tuna with sprouts and mayo spread on celery sticks.

flipflopflap · 09/03/2012 19:59

Having a bit of an evening off, I've had a really nasty stomach bug and the only thing I've felt like eating are tinned soups, which are pretty high in carbs. I figured I'd try and get myself well and them just back in!

AngryFeet · 09/03/2012 20:07

Yes the folding has to be pretty gentle on the oopsie rolls I think. I forgot lunch today Shock so am having a lovely big dinner of ribeye with cauli mash and cabbage. Yum!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 09/03/2012 20:14

well I did a mix of cumin, dried mix herbs, turmeric, paprika, smoked paprika, little salt and pepper.

But I had forgot that I had already made a lovely beef stew for DH and I, so we had some of that with celeriac dauphinoise. It was delicious and just what we both needed.

Going to crufts tomorrow so going to take salad and some meat/cheese and nibble bits for DH and I, making sandwiches for kids, they can carb out. Grin

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 09/03/2012 20:18

oh, forgot to say in Tesco at the moment they have the lactose milk suggested ^^ by someone on special offer, so I got one to try and it is great.

Thanks.

I dont want to post my weight or goal weight but so far I have lost at least 2 inches off my waist and converted to 'old money' is 1st 12lbs. I am feeling motivated, but not feeling 'thinner' DH says he can definitely see the difference, as can I on him (he's lost 2stone) but harrumph!

Tortington · 09/03/2012 20:34

ive lost 4lb this week.

6lb off target - but ihave been drinking beer and eating bad bad things every weekend - 2 days on the bounce. tomorrow i can't go low carb on the beer - just crazy despite being resolute earlier in the week - i will get drunk and eat everything - and spend double. besides - cocktails are reasonable Grin

i have a theory that my gymness isn't kicking in immediatley and that i shall see results next week < i find every excuse>

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 09/03/2012 21:01

Well done custy

I have lost 8lbs in my first 8 days. I know this will not continue, but tis v good start.

8lbs down, 49lbs to go!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 09/03/2012 21:28

Oh god at the thought of zaleti biscuits - I could eat a plateful of those now. And lemon posset

I had a bite of a jammy dodger - then thought I don't really like jammy dodgers and I am not going to balls up my diet on a 3rd division biscuit. So hurled the rest of it in the bin.

Well done jax, glitter and custy on the weight loss - that is really brilliant.

I am determined to be very good this weekend and get down to under 10 stone 10 by next week. I have got a black tie party (for work) at the end of March and hopefully I will be 10 stone 4 by then. I have got to give myself silly mini goals otherwise I would shout 'fuck it' and eat chips and cheese.

CheerfulYank · 09/03/2012 21:32

What is this cauli mash? It sounds divine!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 09/03/2012 21:35

I know cheerful - I have to give it a try as well, I still haven't made it.

I think you just boil the cauli and mash it with loads of butter.

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 09/03/2012 21:46

Or you can grate it and fry it. And pretend its rice.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 09/03/2012 21:49

OOh do you think you could make cauliflower rosti? Or would it go all soggy?

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 09/03/2012 21:57

Courgette rosti is lovely, make that!

AngryFeet · 09/03/2012 22:05

I steamed the cauliflower so it was less watery, added cream, butter and a big handful of Parmesan and blended it. Very lush indeedy!

debs39 · 09/03/2012 22:29

Hi kotinka am still bfeeding but not aiming for ketosis as know not good to transfer ketones over. Am still on food list you said wldn't get me into k though...think the weird taste was just a jaded set of taste buds ha ha as havent got mental energy to come up with exciting meals with my newborn and little boy to care for whilst DH works overseas...am mainlining cottage cheese and steamed veg ( how exciting...erm...not ) and cut out the cereal and cracker treats I had been having. Managed just under 3lb loss in a week...want another 5lb off to give me a bit of leeway for when i am not as strict with the carbs.... : ) Wish I had a personal chef to whisk up some of your lvly menu suggestions...I am just so damn lackadaisical with my cooking!!!!

vnmum · 09/03/2012 22:40

well I resisted temptation today. DH hasn't been too well and just wanted cream cakes and chocolate so while I was going to tesco for my salad stuff he asked me to get some for him. So I stood at the cream cake fridge eyeing up the cream slices, toying with the idea of getting some for myself BUT I DIDN'T!!! Yay, I just thought "it's not worth it". So tonight while DH pigged out on a box of cream slices, a box of eclairs and a full bar of milka I had strawberries and double cream and 2 squares of lindt 95% cocoa chocolate. I may have gone slightly over my carbs for today but it is much better than caving in to the cakes. I'm quite impressed with my mindset actually.
And while I felt satisfied after my strawberries, DH felt horrible after his binge (serve him right, I did ask if he was sure he wanted to knock himself out of ketosis and he said he was, mayne not thinking that now though)

Well done on those good losses custy, glitter and jax

CointreauVersial · 09/03/2012 22:41

I couldn't be arsed to cook this evening, after an exhausting day of housework Wink so I dug some bolognaise out of the freezer. The DCs had pasta, DH and I had courgette ribbons.

CheerfulYank - you talk a lot about sprouts - I assume you are referring to what we UK folk call beansprouts, rather than the round green things one eats at Christmas. I mean, I'm quite partial to a plateful of Brussels with melted butter, but not sure I'd eat them with tuna and mayo on a stick of celery.

debs39 · 09/03/2012 22:53

Sprouts with tuna and mayo are an interesting combination tee hee says me who lurrrves parmesan and cauliflower...DH calls it food with the stench of death ha ha!!!! Bolognese....mmm...now even I cld rustle that up....might get some mince out of freezer tomorrow and give it a whirl.....can I slowcook it??? Do I have to brown mince first if I do slowcook it???

QueenStromba · 10/03/2012 00:57

I was such a cliched low carber today. I had bacon and eggs for breakfast, some cream in my tea and boiled eggs and ham for snacks. Dinner was two salads and a whole load of chicken from Nando's. I'm not going to bother logging that on MFP because there's no way I got anywhere near 20g of carbs.
