way hey. up 1/4lb to 10 10 this morning so pretty happy. Cant't sleep though. What's that all about? Wide awake at 7.15 on a Saturday morning. Will have to aim for an afternoon nap at some stage.

Had a nice dinner last night. Roasted sea bass, cooked in olive oil, slices of lemon and a splash of white wine, served with baby stem broccoli and green beans (couple of baby boiled potatoes for DH as he is getting on the skinny side, the bastard). Then had poached rhubarb with a small spoonful of clotted cream. Was delish and felt like a treat dinner for a friday rather than diet food.

Am away for tonight so will spectacularly fall of the wagon at dinner but aim is to be good during the day and at breakfast tomorrow. I am driving home so no afternoon beers for me when watching the rugby unfortunately.

TheRealMrsHannigan · 10/03/2012 07:45

Last nights dinner went down a treat, grilled pork steak, steamed spring greens and cauli mash, which is lovely! I am feeling so less bloated than usual. I'm currently making scrambled egg and mushrooms for my breakfast.

Queen it might be cliched but it's working! Wish I'd bought bacon now.

BIWI · 10/03/2012 08:32

yy GOML to mini-targets. That's the best way to keep you focused and on track.

Scales are infuriatingly still stuck. I had hoped I might manage to lose more this week. Last night was the usual Friday night takeaway, so I had a tandoori mixed grill with a third of a portion of spinach bhaji, thus keeping the carbs as low as I could really. Lunch was chicken breast fillets with red cabbage, and breakfast was egg mayonnaise.

But as it was Friday I also had some wine, so have to acknowledge that unless I knock it completely on the head my weight loss is going to continue to be slow.

I have to resist the temptation tonight too - not only because I want the scales to show something less than 10.11, but also because I'm at the gym at 8.00 tomorrow morning!

motherofluvlies · 10/03/2012 08:50

Help.I am into London today for an exciting day at the ballet( Xmas pressie) with my 2 teenage nieces and we are bringing a packed lunch.I don't want to be spoilsport but what on earth do I bring?

BIWI · 10/03/2012 08:53

Hard boiled eggs, cooked (low carb) sausages, slices of celery, cucumber, pepper, etc. You can make tuna mayonnaise and take some lettuce leaves to wrap it in. Sliced ham/beef/chicken. Chicken wings.

The possibilities are endless ... !!!

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 10/03/2012 10:06

just just pop into a pret and Get the chefs salad? Chicken parmesan, pistachio and olive salad with a creamy dressing, and snack pack of nuts, my favorite low carb lunch :)

lemniscate · 10/03/2012 10:08

Morning all! Day 3. The bad taste seems to have gone a little bit from my mouth which is a good thing :) And the tea with lactose-free milk this morning was heavenly, so you are my hero postbellumbugsy :o

Third day of omelette for breakfast. Not tired of it yet but I can't wait until I can introduce some porridge back in so I can have that a couple of mornings just to vary things a bit. I'm still struggling with the idea of breakfast without carbs so for now a continental-style platter of ham and cheese wouldn't do as I would be hankering after bread. Omelette is about the only breakfasty thing that I typically eat without bread anyway so I'm just sticking with this for now as I know it won't induce bread cravings. Anybody got good suggestions for omelette fillings? I'm sticking with ham, spinach, mushroom and cheese for now but willing to get creative!

DH is being an angel and making me homemade Indian tonight! Cauliflower bhajis, aubergine curry and tandoori chicken, then rice on the side for him and my parents :o The only big hurdle today is that my parents are visiting and have brought a cake as an early celebration for DS's 4th birthday. I WILL RESIST! I WILL!

Hope you all have a good day. Enjoy London, motherofluvlies If you like blue cheese, you can buy tubs of creamy dolcelatte which are ideal for dipping celery in. Lovely marinaded olives are also really nice to make a packed lunch feel special.

FreeButtonBee · 10/03/2012 10:30

Lemniscate - smoked salmon and scallions (spring onions) is lovely in an omelette. Also feta, pepper and red onion with a sprinkle of oregano. You don't need much pepper and red onion to give it flavour.

I had fried egg, 3 slices streaky bacon and two slices of fried potato for breakfast. Off out now - have a great weekend!

kandinskysgirl · 10/03/2012 10:46

Morning all, well dinner last night went really well. I did a platter of meats/garlic mushrooms and olives to start with crusty bread that smelt divine but I happily avoided. Baked salmon with a parsley crust that I made, with asparagus and roasted peppers and courgettes. Everyone loved it and I was pleased I could eat everything.

Had a couple of glasses of wine but I am going to Shred today so hopefully will combat it. I seem to have lost another pound so that is 5 since Wednesday so I seem to be on the right track.

It is nice to hear everyone else's meal plans as it gives me some really good ideas that sound lovely.

PrincessTamTam · 10/03/2012 11:01

Lemniscate - I was in a hurry for lunch in the week and found some leftover leeks and a few spring greens in the fridge from the night before... I tossed them in an omlette and it was delicious!
Still not weighing myself yet, will hold off til next week.
Have fun!

vnmum · 10/03/2012 14:47

Hi all, I had low carb pancakes (from the atkins book, ground almonds, flax meal, eggs, double cream and sparkling water) with bacon for lunch and they were ok.

Has anyone found that their skin has gone bad since doing this diet? I seem to have horrendous spots and i'm trying to work out of it is to do with the extra dietary fat i'm eating or just a coincidence and it is hormonal

TheRealMrsHannigan · 10/03/2012 15:25

I had nandos for lunch but was very good and had butterfly chicken breast with a mixed leaf salad and I left the peppers to one side. Very proud I resisted the peri peri chips as I love them.

ImperialBlether · 10/03/2012 15:51

I've stuck it out since Monday and have lost 7 lbs.

I've never used the strips to check if you're in ketosis. Do you know where you buy them from?

I don't think I can be in ketosis as I've eaten Ryvitas for every lunch and for half of the breakfasts - just looked them up and they're 5.8g of carbs each, with 0.2 being sugar. I don't see what I can have for lunch otherwise - I have to eat it quickly and can't heat anything up at work.

BIWI · 10/03/2012 15:52

vnmum - I suspect it will be coincidental/hormonal. If anything the extra fat should make your skin better/healthier. Along with all the water you're drinking. You are drinking plenty of water, aren't you ....... ? Grin

flipflopflap · 10/03/2012 16:44

Vnmum, mine was terrible at first, I think it was down to the extra water I was drinking. I hardly drank any before the diet so I think it was flushing out all the rubbish in my skin. It's calmed down a bit now thankfully.

I had a lovely alternative greek salad today. I roasted half a pepper filled with feta and a sprinkling of oregano until the cheese was browned on top, served with lettuce, cucumber and olives.

AngryFeet · 10/03/2012 19:10

I am not doing great at the moment. Not eating carbs but I am not getting enough veg in or water and am drinking a can of coke zero a day plus some booze. To be honest I am having a tough time with my DS at school plus I have been referred to the breast clinic and I have quite a few other worries.

Anyway I am pleased I have stuck to low carb even throughout this tough time I just need to eat regularly and get more veg in. Today I missed breakfast, just had some chicken pieces for lunch and am already stuck into the vodka. I do have a meal of pork chops, cauli mash and lots of cabbage planned so not too bad but could do better. Scales this morning said 13st 2.75 which makes it 9lbs off in 18 days but I will wait till weigh in day on Tuesday till I add to the list here.

Need to do shopping tomorrow so need to think of some good lunches - i need to find a way to eat salad so I don't realise I am eating salad if you know what I mean? I hate the taste but know I need to get some down me. Maybe cheeseburger pie plus lettuce?

QueenStromba · 10/03/2012 19:14

The trick with salad is to fill it with yummy things that you wouldn't normally be allowed on a diet. My usual salad is chicken, bacon, avocado, stilton and baby spinach.

lemniscate · 10/03/2012 19:21

A salade nicoise is lovely too - tuna (tinned is traditional, fresh is lovely for a special meal), boiled egg, green beans, olives. I usually do it on a bag of spinach, watercress, rocket and throw in cherry toms. Drizzle with a lemony vinaigrette.

I resisted the cake Grin I also realised that the cauli bhajis DH had planned were full of flour do he's making me a cauli korma instead even though he desperately wanted to try out his new deep fat fryer bought especially for these and scotch eggs! (my DH fancies himself on Masterchef) At times like this I'm reminded why I love him!

Does the weird taste in your mouth ever go? Is it just an induction thing? It went away for about 2 hours today but back with a vengeance now.

ImperialBlether · 10/03/2012 20:19

Lemniscate, do you make your own viniagrette? If so, do you have a good recipe?

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 10/03/2012 20:19

Today was tough. We had family over & I made cake, and there were crisps and bread all over the shop, all my favorite things which I am trying v hard to avoid even thinking about.

Anyway, I stuck to it. Had salad & cold meats & cheese & some marscapone for pudding at lunchtime.

Tonight that restless bingey feeling is still here though- despite nice dinner of low carb squash/mushroom/spinach lasagne (with aubergine slices instead of pasta).

Keep snacking...few nuts....couple mini pepperamis... jelly & cream. Not hungry at all- its completely because I feel weirdly deprived!

ImperialBlether · 10/03/2012 20:20

Oooh QueenStromba, that sounds really lovely.

Lemniscate, anchovies are nice in a salade nicoise, too.

ImperialBlether · 10/03/2012 20:23

QueenStromba, just seen your chicken with yoghurt recipe. If you mix yoghurt, grated fresh ginger, crushed garlic, salt, some paprika and half a squeezed lemon and then rub it into a chicken, that is gorgeous, too.

ImperialBlether · 10/03/2012 20:25

One thing that's saved me this week was a little Tupperware box full of nuts - I had a few throughout the day whenever I'd normally be tempted to have something to eat. They were particularly useful on the way home, so I wasn't starving when I got home and could then stick to a low carb dinner.

debs39 · 10/03/2012 21:39

glitterkitty i have had to just come to bed as i was getting the bingeyurge and at one point was stood, head in the carby treats cupbaoard thinking shall i / shalln't i???!!!!! Am getting my little one baptised in 5 wks and want a nice fitted dress to wear so got to keep that goal in my mind.........

TheOriginalGlitterKitty · 10/03/2012 21:43

Thats a great motivation Debs. Mine short term one is meeting a friend I havent seen for ages in about 3 weeks. She lost loads recently (we were the same weight) and I want to impress her Grin

Oh, I keep staring at things too. Its like I walk past the crisps and someone grabs my head and turns it sloooowly and I stare at them.

I will not have anything I am not allowed I am in control here.
