twit am bfeeding too and not keeping to super low carb ( having yogs, cott cheese...which arent good on w carb, not totting up carbs etc for veg and fruit : ( and few sneaky crackers ahem make that a packet tee hee so no ketosis going on but tends to lead to me having big carb blowouts once every 10 days or so { see my post early hrs this morning when i was annointed as a carb aholic by kotinka and gang the super low carbers who will keep you on the straight and narrow!!!} ) Joe is just 6weeks and 2days old and have got down to just 4lb over prepreg weight so works for me....just wld prob have been quicker process.....kotinka has though coverted me from a tub of options hot choc every 2-3 days to cocoa and hot water though and I realllllly lurrrrve the bitter choc sensation!!!!

KellyKettle · 02/03/2012 05:28

Twit I'm bf DD2 (4.5 mths) & DD1 (3). Low carb is fine when Bf just make sure you're eating if you're hungry and drinking if you're thirsty. I don't avoid Dairy either - I may eventually but it would be hard right now.

Dinner last night was carbonara with chicken & bacon. The 'pasta' was a few courgettes peeled and sliced into pasta-looking strips and cooked in the sauce (cream, Parmesan, garlic) the end.

DD2 ate it all, proclaiming "I love this pasta mummy". Even DH liked it.

Hi, can I just ask. When counting the carbs in veg e.g cauli, broccoli, cabbage, do you count the carbs for the raw weight or count what they are for the cooked weight and the method of cooking?

I have persuaded DH to come on the diet with me but he seems to be an even bigger carb addict than I was but not in an obvious way. mine was cakes and chocolate but his is cereal, crisps, bread, so he and I didn't actually realise how much carbs he was eating until I started doing this.

My chinese the other night doesn't seem to have knocked me out of ketosis, still getting a trace -/+ on the ketostix first thing in the morning and I have also discovered Lidl full fat greek yoghurt. It is nicer than Total (i think anyway), cheaper and a gram lower in carbs.

Will add myself to the list with weight lost upto wednesday

kandinskysgirl · 02/03/2012 11:48

Oh dear, have fallen off the wagon spectacularly. Had copious amounts of wine last night which led to chocolate which has led to a hangover this morning and bread Sad.

I feel horrible today and really annoyed with myself. Have I ruined all the work I have done in the last week?

Never going to be thin....

CointreauVersial · 02/03/2012 12:19

Don't feel bad, kandinskysgirl. There was a phrase used a lot on the low-carb threads back in the day - "just put it in a box" - i.e., don't dwell on your brief fall off the straight-and-narrow, just put it behind you, forget about it, move on. I'm sure you enjoyed your wine and chocolate evening, so no point in feeling miserable and guilty!!

I didn't weigh myself this morning, so I'll update the weight tomorrow. I don't imagine I have lost much, but I'm still sticking to the diet reasonably OK. Off to have some boiled eggs and asparagus dippers for lunch. I'm going to rustle up a curry tonight - maybe butter chicken - and I have some okra to do something creative with (haven't a scooby how carby they are, but I shouldn't imagine they are too bad).

PostBellumBugsy · 02/03/2012 12:23

Nevermind Kandinsky - don't talk youself out of it. One slip up does not a porker make! Grin
Could you try drinking something other than wine? Wine in itself, is sooo carby & full of magic ingredients that then make you want to eat other naughty things!

BIWI · 02/03/2012 12:28

Weight has gone up again this morning Angry. My Chinese meal was, I thought, low carb - but possibly there was sugar lurking in one of the dishes.

It's definitely the wine though, as apart from that meal my food choices have all been fine. So I know what I have to do ...

kandinskysgirl · 02/03/2012 12:30

Thanks guys, you are right I need to stick to the diet and keep on at it. PostBellumBugsy, I don't really like other alcohol and I have cut down my wine intake so its to almost nothing compared to what I was drinking-think that is why I am hungover today! The tolerance has gone.

I think I will just do my best to avoid it completely at the moment as my will power is zero once I have a glass Smile.

Will make some boiled eggs to snack on today...that will help me get back on track I guess.

Twit · 02/03/2012 12:32

So I should basically carry on as I am then, just be strict when I feel a second bowl of porridge calling? Grin Replace fruit with, umm. Salad? Cheese? Perhaps I'll try to miss out porridge too sometimes.

Envy Wink

twit no way can i give up fruit or peas ha ha and they are apparently foods of the devil on no / lo carb!!!!!!!!!!!!! Am scared to do full fat cheese and cream too...At least we don't have the booze issue to worry over though!! How long r u aiming to bf for??? :)

debs39 · 02/03/2012 12:52

kadinskysgirl am the same with booze...if kotinka thought my carb binge was bad the other night she shld hear what I tuck away after a sneaky vodka or...ahem 6!!!!!!!!!!!! am a bad bad woman (sits in naughty corner...again...) If bf keeps me off the booze and helps me drop w8t may still be lobbing my boob out for baby joe at his 21st birthday party!!!!

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 14:30

Blimey debs you are bf a 6 week old baby and you are only 4lbs over your pre-preg weight? That is pretty amazing! No wonder you felt like eating a packet of rice cakes.

I am a bit despondent today - I have been very good but am exactly the same weight as last week, all I seemed to have done is put on 3lbs and lost it again? Why has the weight loss stopped I wonder? I do eat quite a lot of cheese and mayonnaise, perhaps I should cut down or cut it out altogether.

I do look a lot better but still want to get down another 13lbs.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 14:31

Biwi I would be too wary of ordering a takeaway after last week's Indian carbfest. I expect chinese takeaways have a lot of hidden sugar and thickener as well.

BIWI · 02/03/2012 14:41

I know - but only one dish with any kind of sauce so I thought I was safe Sad.

The alcohol is definitely not helping though. I have not been as good this week at cutting that out/down, and there is the evidence that it is definitely impeding weight loss.

I suppose it's possible that my gym work is having some effect, although personally I think it's a bit early to claim that I have put down loads of muscle!

A weekend away which, although I'm looking forward to it, is also risky. I have at least been able to tell my hosts that I'm low carbing, so they're prepared to cater for me. But being away means I miss a gym session, which is also worrying me - I need to keep the exercise levels up as well.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 14:46

Grin I also had a haitus at the end of January which I convinced myself was the additional muscle. I know Jillian's shreds are good, but 20 mins a day is not going to make me put muscle masss of arnie proportions on. Grin

I will be falling off the wagon drink wise tomorrow as it is my birthday, so will have a few drinks. Will endeavour to stick to the vodka and soda but am sure will sneak some champagne/amarettos/cocktails as well.

So I will be STRICT next week to make up for it.

PostBellumBugsy · 02/03/2012 14:51

Happy birthday for tomorrow GetOrf - I'm sure Champagne doesn't count! Have fun.

Twit · 02/03/2012 19:54

Debs39 as long as it takes I suppose. What are you eating (apart from your hiccups) Wink ? I worry that if I start doing it properly it might release toxins or something that might get in the milk. Hmm
I've just been given the go-ahead to get on with some proper exercise by the physio so am Making An Effort to get into some sort of shape for BabyTwit's 1st b'day (Late June)

Happy birthday for tomorrow Smile

flipflopflap · 02/03/2012 20:15

Argh! I've just weighed myself and it looks like I've put on 2lb! My normal weigh in day is Monday so I shouldn't of looked.

I've been religiously good, the only thing I've done differently is drink a bit more coffee. I'm tempted to go on a carb binge but I'm trying to be strong, plus I'm not at all hungry so obviously still in Ketosis- I don't understand it! It's the coffee isn't it Sad

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 20:34

I feel the same flipflop - really pee'd off that I haven't lost anything in a week when I have been really good.

Only thing I can put it down to is coffee, cheese and diet coke/diet red bull.

I am going to cut all of those out (well, after tomorrow) and if that doesn't work I will crawl in a corner and sob.

GetOrfMoiiLand · 02/03/2012 20:35

And dd has just bought in an enormous chocolate giant cupcake. It's bigger than my head.

SeriousWispaHabit · 02/03/2012 22:12

I haven't lost any either but then I lost loads in the first week so I don't mind. I cracked tonight and had some wine (first alcohol in over 2 weeks) but have stuck to it religiously otherwise.

CointreauVersial · 02/03/2012 22:33

I'm having a cheeky glass of pinot - well, it is Friday, and I did go for a run earlier.

Didn't have curry for dinner, as the first step in the recipe was "marinate chicken overnight", but I did something creative with boneless chicken thighs, pesto and grated mozzarella - very tasty it was too.

I've just made some of that coconut choccy.....hmmm, interesting. Not sure it quite matches up to Green & Blacks. I did add some Splenda, as it wasn't sweet enough for me. And it was a bugger chiselling it off the plate, so next time I'll make it on baking paper.

Have a nice weekend all, and Happy Birthday for tomorrow GOML!
