New thread since the old one is full :)

Can't find it on the app so guessing it's on the website. I found one by googling it but only took my height, weight and age to calculate it, gave me 1508.

piratecat · 10/04/2012 14:31

i only use the website. i am sure most of the online tools for this would give you roughly the same.

PandaNot · 10/04/2012 19:41

Hi all, I've just started using the MFP app so thought I'd take a look here to see how everyone's doing - the answer seems to be very, very well! :)

RGPargy · 10/04/2012 23:28

Hi everyone :o

Have been a terrible slovern with both posting on here and with eating healthy Blush

Now that all the wine has been drunk and both my easter eggs have been scoffed eaten, i can focus on getting seriously back on track.

I am off to another fitness weekender at the end of September. I want to lose 2 stone by then - do you think that's achievable in 6 months (am currently around 16.7lbs, give or take some alcohol and bad food bloating lol)?

Any newbies out there please feel free to add me. I am currently more active on MFP than i am on here :)

Big loves to you all :) xx

cinnamongreyhound · 11/04/2012 06:54

I assume you mean 16st 7lb RGPargy? I was 14st 13 on 10th nov so have lost 3st 8lb in 5 months so yes 2 stone in 6 is doable. I lost 5lb and 4lb the first two weeks and then it's been pretty steady nothing more than 2.5 a week and some weeks nothing. It will be 28lb in 26 weeks, of you look at it like that very achievable I think. Haven't touched my eggs, had some mini eggs and shared a bit of ds2's rabbit, as I have 2 large cadbury eggs and the box says 365calories for 1/4, not even HALF for that many calories :(

bexsybooboo · 11/04/2012 07:49

Am in pain but isn't that what they say no pain no gain Wink

Done body pump on Monday and absolutely loved it Grin but god the top of my legs really hurt now. Shows how weak I never used my muscles before lol Grin

Everyone still doing so well it's great to read and see.

Like RGPARGY I seem to be more on the actual MFP app than I am on here but still like passing by and catching up with you all.

My username on MFP is bexsy feel free to add me Smile

bexsybooboo · 11/04/2012 07:50

BTW that is great losses cinnamongreyhound and rgpargy definitely gives me a kick up the arse and shows how doable this really is Smile x

BehindLockNumberNine · 11/04/2012 09:40

Have just joined myfitnesspal - and am in shock about how few calories I am allowed... (just shows how much I was overeating really... Sad)

Anyhoo, are you friends on mfp too? If so I could really use some company and motivation...

BehindLockNumberNine · 11/04/2012 09:40

Oh, forgot, my username on MFP is petd, please come and find me Smile

piratecat · 11/04/2012 11:15

i was in shock too, at how much seemingly ok foods add up.

good luck tho it's good for keeping track and gets a bit addictive, it's like your conscience on a web page!!

BehindLockNumberNine · 11/04/2012 12:46

Addictive is good - anything that keeps me going... I have so much weight to shed...

OneTwoOrThree · 11/04/2012 13:30

Hi, I'm new Smile

I've signed up today (after having a kitkat or two and creme egg for breakfast Blush). Username is same as here so feel free to add me as a MFP friend.

I've a newborn baby and am bf'ing so am allowed 1700 calories per day - should be plenty.

Starting at 11st13 and goal is 9st (am only 5 foot 2). To be honest I'll be happy if when I get to under 10st.

Heading out for a walk with the pram shortly to offset some of the damage breakfast has done.

jchocchip · 11/04/2012 22:34

Marking place again. Keep losing this thread - not posting often enough. Back on the chocolate after lent - oh dear! same name on mfp, I'm there every day.Still got 6 stone to lose so will be around for a while. Cycled the 6 miles to work again today, trying to limit the chocolate damage. ;)

Megatron · 12/04/2012 09:17

Can I join you folks? *waves

I joined MFP on Tuesday and am gobsmacked at the small (I think!) amount of calories I can have and how quickly it adds up!

I lost 3 stone 3 years ago but it's started creeping on again and I've put about half of that back on again over the last 18 months. I'm really pissed off with myself. Sad

Meeting a friend for lunch today at Frankie and Bennys so I fear today is not going to be a good one ...

MonsterBookOfTysons · 12/04/2012 09:53

Hi again :)
Megatron if you exercise the food off you can pretty much eat whatever you fancy.
Running and swimming are good for high calorie burns :)
Feel free to add me, same name as here. :o

BehindLockNumberNine · 12/04/2012 12:16

Well, today is my third day on MFP. I am finding it fine so far, have had calories left over at the end of the day... It is easier to do exercise during the Easter hols though - back to work on Monday so lots of sitting around in class and a staffroom full of biscuits to battle with so I know it will be harder...
Am dreading my first weigh-in. What if it has made no difference adn I have not lost???
Eek...

Feel free to add me please fellow MNing MFP'lers. I am petd on MFP

OneTwoOrThree · 12/04/2012 12:18

Day 2 for me Grin

Was planning on having baked potatoes for dinner however my usual portion (2 potatoes about 150g cheese and butter) is almost 1000 calories!! Trying to decide if I should reduce to one potato and 75g cheese, or stay at two potatoes and find an alternative filling.....

On a positive note, motivation is still high Grin

OneTwoOrThree · 12/04/2012 12:28

Out of interest, how many calories is everyone on?

I told MFP I wanted to lose 2lb per week and it's put me on 1200 (plus another 500 for breastfeeding, which makes a huge difference). It the said I could expect to lose 1.2lb per week. Anyone know why it doesn't expect me to lose 2lb per week like I requested?

Also, is anyone else breastfeeding, and if so are you still losing weight with the 500 extra calories? My milk supply is a priority but 500 calories seems like a lot extra. Time will tell, I guess.

MonsterBookOfTysons · 12/04/2012 13:30

I am on 1320 cals. I have had periods of 1200 but after having a fiddle with the goals it only made 0.2lbs difference so thought I would rather lose a little slower and have alot more cals a day :o

ClassFree · 12/04/2012 14:17

Hello! I just signed up today, uname: 19leon77, feel free to add me
I have a long way to go to get to my goal Blush but I have to start somewhere, right? I thought I was doing fine, just keeping an eye on what I was eating, and grabbing a bit of activity time here and there.
Then I stepped on the scale for the first time in 2 months; it was a wake up call.
I am hoping that if I am actually tracking what I eat, and pay attention to the calories I am burning (or not) I should do better.
I keep under-estimating the amount that I eat, and over-estimate how many calories I have burned exercising.... bad combination!Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 12/04/2012 14:39

I'm on 1440 cals for a weightloss of 1lb a week and I try not to use my exercise cals so with those I am often at a calorie level to lose 2lb a week but I don't want that restriction and I am happy plodding along. I am bf OneTwoOrThree but my baby is 18 months and he is having two feeds a day only so I don't include it. My understanding is if you are ebf then they are taking about 500 calories of milk a day, obviously it will vary slightly from baby to baby.

I think that's most people's problem ClassFree! I'm hoping that by being on mfp I will be more aware generally and be able to keep to a lower calorie diet for life.

HipHopOpotomus · 12/04/2012 14:53

Hi - I've not been posting much on this thread but I'm here in spirit, logging on MFP and survived Easter with a gain of only 100gms. Just thought it might be worth if we listed our MFP names so we can link up on there - I like the updates etc they provide.
I'll start - I am on MFP & I am called

HipHopOpotomus2

please add me as your friend.

HipHopOpotomus · 12/04/2012 14:58

If I'm organised, prepared and cook proper meals I can eat so so well and be on or under calories. If not organised, prepared and cooking, it's a disaster and I go over calories all too easily.

piratecat · 12/04/2012 15:02

i am on 1200, but its so so slow going. 2lbs in a month. Sad

BehindLockNumberNine · 12/04/2012 16:05

I am on 1800kcal a day. Sounds loads but I am so used to eating around 2500 per day that for me it was quite a bit drop. But have been exercising a bit more and that does seem to help.

Mind you, I have over 5 st to lose so that would be why the calorie allowance is so high...

Those of you that have done MFP for a while - do you struggle when your calorie allowance is decreased as you lose weight?
