Oh Belle, belated hugs. Such a sad ending but you were there for her to provide her comfort and reassurance at the time of the accident and so hopefully made a scary time a whole lot less scary for her.

Feeling bleugh again and super busy at work so skinny latte for breakfast, no exercise, tuna wrap and butternut squash and sweetcorn salad for lunch and probably veg soup for dinner tonight. Oh and a biscuit and teacake just now to celebrate getting some work off my desk. Not a good day. Think TDW will be surging into the lead on the birthday challenge...

knottyhair · 21/09/2011 09:48

Morning! TDW, hope your curry was nice. Haven't done it for a while, think I might have to soon! Talking of protein, I try to keep things like turkey and prawns in the fridge, and pick on those if I want something savoury and I've got ryvita fatigue Grin. Belle, try not to feel guilty about the bread, if it filled you up then it did a good job. Sausage casserole sounded lovely. Dinky, your day's food yesterday didn't sound too bad to me. Take it easy while you're not feeling 100%.
Did 4 circuits of BFBM before the school run this morning - twas nice to get it done! Horrible weather here and we were given a huge bag of pears from a neighbour so I'm going to make a big pear & chocolate crumble in a bit. Planning to give some of it to 2 of my friends who are coming round after school but hopefully I'll have enough calories left to have a little bit later! Minestrone for lunch, and moroccan prawns & couscous for dinner later, hopefully followed by a bit of crumble! The syrup crunchies are going down well, ended up making 25, so gave some of those away as well. I worked out that half a one is about 110 cals so not toooooo bad Blush. But they are very satisfying as they're quite chewy. Hope you all have a good day and manage to stay dry and in the zone x

HELLOOOOO everyone! i lost a stone and a half by hanging round here a couple of summers back, but now (by having pigged away and given up running) find i have gained back a stone of it and am feeling bleh. well, not bleh. i've done bleh for the last couple of months and now am feeling rather positive and peppy and up for getting rid of it again, because i remember clearly how great it felt.

so hello! i'm more a low carber than a cal counter, i reckon. having jacked in the carbs for about three days i am down a good few pounds thanks to saying goodbye to bread bloat, so that is a positive. and when it stops raining i am going oooooot for a run. but that will be tomorrow, i think.

thedogwalker · 21/09/2011 10:32

Hello TwoOH, welcome back. We are all still at various stages of out weightloss and we hope we can inspire you to lose once more. I know what you mean about the bread bloat, I've cut out all wheat, no brekkie cereals, I use arrowroot instead of cornflour, however, when I'm feeling naughty I do allow myself some crusty white uncut bread, stop, stop, I'm drooling again.

well I've been out running today and ran 4.5 miles and my back feels ok at the moment. Don't know if you'll recall, but some time ago I signed up to the Bupa great south run, which is 10 miles. Anyway I forgot all about it as the girl who was organising it never mentioned it. Anyways, got a sharp reminder yesterday that yes I was on the list, so bugger, had better get training, 39 days to get my act into gear and run 10 miles Hmm.

hope everyone is having a good day xx

dinkystinky · 21/09/2011 11:45

TDW - well done on your run and glad your back is better. And Aitch - welcome back! We occasionally have some of the old members like Cyb swing by so lovely to see you on. I got down to 0.02 off goal then put on half a stone without really noticing I was doing it so am still heading onwards and zonewards. Ho hum. Knotty is our postergirl - she posts about her yummy dinners and STILL manages to lose weight. V impressive.

BelleEnd · 21/09/2011 12:52

Feeling any better dinky? Butternut squash and sweetcorn salad sounds gorgeous! Do you roast the squash? And do you put a dressing on it?
TDW Ten miles! TEN MILES! Respect! I went for one run, at Easter time, and my trousers fell down so many times I gave up :o I live in the middle of nowhere, so if anyone saw my manky pants, it was a farmer and maybe a few sheep! I get that bread bloat too, but I don't need a lot to keep me going for a long time, so I'm not giving myself too hard a time about it.
Welcome bach Aitch- I wasn't here when you were here last. Got half a stone 'til I hit my target, and am finding the thread and MFP a real backbone :)

That bread yesterday lunchtime really did fill me up- I didn't need anything at 4 except tea. So I think I may allow myself to have some at lunchtimes, provided I bake it myself- The sliced stuff my kids insist on for their lunches are like eating air. Tasty air, granted, but not filling. :o

Had some steamed veg and crackerbread for lunch and will have the remains of last night's casserole for dinner, but without the sausage. Got a Quaker meet tonight and they have good biscuits, but I won't :)

AitchTwoOh · 21/09/2011 14:00

ack gad already off the wagon. car is in for MOT today and came back with suspension probs (had gathered that, bloody potholes) so am stuck in M&S CAFE (ooooh, the humanity) for three hours while it's fixed.

basil and tomato soup, two weeny rolls and a cup of coffee. not v low carb. Hmm

thedogwalker · 21/09/2011 14:04

Don't be too hard on yourself Aitch, just take small steps at first, but every one of them will get you to where you want to be, you've made the biggest step by coming back Smile.

AitchTwoOh · 21/09/2011 14:06

oh the problem with me, dw, is that i am not hard on myself AT ALL. Grin i am super-easy...

dinkystinky · 21/09/2011 16:01

You make me laugh Aitch! Can you not go browse through the Per Una section in M&S for a bit... might put you off eating for a bit Wink

dinkystinky · 22/09/2011 08:57

Urgh. Still feel rubbish today (and woken at stupid o'clock by DS1 who wanted to know if it was morning yet Hmm) so binned early morning pilates class - did body pump yesterday and felt really weak and feeble and struggled alot. Am booked in for body combat at lunchtime but suspect will bin that to. Hate feeling all weak and wibbly. Hope everyone else doing well and you got your car back ok Aitch.

BelleEnd · 22/09/2011 09:16

Oh poor dinky. That weak feeling is horrible isn't it? Take it easy for a few days, and hugs from me.
Aitch It is not your fault, it is the fault of M&S. Sue them! Wink

Felt exhausted and a bit of a scratchy throat last night, so went to bed at 7 (Thank you wonderful DH!) Feel a lot better today, but I do feel I need to loosen my grip on my diet a bit- Every day this week has clocked under 1000 cals and it's too much. So I'm going to relax at the weekend, and try to just enjoy food.

Today will be
ham salad with homemade bread (made a loaf before 8 this morning. None of your breadmaker crap. How many calories does kneading use up?) :o
Jacket potato with tuna salad

justaminute · 22/09/2011 09:21

Belle sorry to hear about the lady, I remember you telling us about it. Dinky hope you have a biff free day, tiredness is a major weakner of resolve for me so I hope you stay strong. hellloo to aitch and well done to everyone else you seem to be zoning which is more than can be said for me Sad.

I've been wallowing in self pity. It started with a haircut from hell on Saturday so confidence is at a low. Each morning I start with good intentions, I shred but then collapse on the sofa in exhaustion and eat and eat until I have to collect ds. Once I start I stupidly think sod it and the day descends into a biff explosion.

I played netball last night and feel a bit better today, just off to running club now so I'm hoping you lot will have kicked my butt by the time I'm back so I don't undo the good work. Meant to be doing 4 miles today - eeek!

dinkystinky · 22/09/2011 10:07

Belle - sorry you're feeling rough. Respect at the proper breadmaking this morning though! The only time I've ever made bread the old fashioned way was when I was doing conservation work in Tanzania and living in the middle of a jungle - we had to make bread under a mozzie net or the local insects would go crazy for the yeast - and then cook it on embers from the fire. It was a total and utter faff (but it was either eat that or semolina with maggots in it - ugh) - I'm hoping your breadmaking experience was a lot nicer Grin

JAM - sorry to hear about haircut from hell and feelign blue. Can your haircut be fixed in any way? It may not be as bad as you think - just a case of having to get used to it maybe? I find I tend to eat when I dont have anything planned so get on and plan things - the running club today is a great thing to do (and good luck and respect at 4 miles!) and while you're job hunting could you do some courses (maybe language course to add to your cv, or a course on anything you'd love to do - like jewellery making? - while DS is at school) to fill your days. May make you feel a little happier and busier?

AitchTwoOh · 22/09/2011 10:10

i too have the scratchy throat and bunged up head... i'm afraid i self-medicated last night with chocolate biscuits.

onwards and upwards today, though.

knottyhair · 22/09/2011 10:24

Morning all! Goodness, there's so much fecking illness hanging around. Hope those of you feeling rough can take it easy a bit, lay off the exercise until you're better and drink lots of fluids . Hi Aitch! Good luck and hope you get the support you want here. TDW, wow, good luck with your training. Dinky, jesus, don't know about poster girl, you flatter me far too much. I just like banging on about food too much! Belle, great advice from yourself there about easing off a bit, and I must say I'm pretty sure kneading dough is plenty of exercise. JAM, sorry about your haircut, bound to make you feel crap Sad. Really good advice from Dinky about keeping busy. You've identified the thought that does the damage ("sod it etc."), so you know you've got to come back with a bit of positive self-talk to combat it .
Having my rest day from Jillian today. Minestrone soup for lunch and not sure about tea yet - yup, it's box inspection day! Something involving cauliflower so I'm thinking along Indian lines.... Hope you all have a good day, and a gentle one to those of you suffering x

thedogwalker · 22/09/2011 11:57

Morning all Smile, sending get well vibes to all those feeling under the weather, hope you feel better soon. DInky take it easy, if you're feeling wibbly, you are normally an active person, so you will be able to get back to it all with ease when you feel better. Be kind to your body. Belle glad you're going to eat more than 1000 calories, I really worry for you eating so little, I always think it's just the start of worse bahaviour to come and we all know starvation is not the way forward. Sorry don't mean to lecture, just concerned that's all. JAM sorry about the haircut but I bet you look fab anyway. Look at it as the new you, now stop wallowing, kick up the bum given but I'll be back to give another if needs be Grin
Well I thought I would ache today after the 4.5 mile yesterday but amazingly feel ok, it will probably be tomorrow when the pain strikes, so I've already got a plan to combat that and arranged to go ut for another 4.5 mile run. Want to up that to 5.5 by the end of next week. Need to cram in as much training as possible. Hope everyone is haiving a good day, take care xx

justaminute · 22/09/2011 15:03

Thanks for the kick up the bum and therapy talk. All duly noted. keeping busy is definitely the key I just need some oomph to do the things I set out to do so that I don't get to the "sod it" situation.

TDW I'm amazed you don't ache. I did 4 miles + warm up this morning and my legs are aching big time I could easily go to sleep this afternoon. Do you think I could leave the dcs watching TV?...hmmmm...

Some good news to end on I have an interview + test tomorrow

knottyhair · 22/09/2011 16:28

Ooh JAM, good luck! TDW, you're doing very well (didn't mean that to sound like Young Mr Grace from Are You Being Served showing my age )

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 22/09/2011 17:39

Good luck for tomorrow JAM hope it all goes really well.
Knotty I'll tell you tomorrow how well I am after I've done round 2, phew.
Good luck to everyone for WI tomorrow.

dinkystinky · 22/09/2011 21:25

Good luck for tomorrow JAM - still feeling bleurgh so no exercise for me today and minor biffing. Ho hum.

LadyBuzz · 22/09/2011 21:42

JAM good luck for tomorrow.

Hope those of you feeling poorly are OK.

I've had an OK few days so fingers crossed for the morning!

BelleEnd · 23/09/2011 07:38

JAM Good luck good luck good luck!

1lb off here, so down to 10st 13.5. It's nice to break that 11st barrier!

Good luck all!

dinkystinky · 23/09/2011 08:47

Morning all. Good luck again JAM for today - am sure you'll ace it!

Well there's a plus side to feeling too bleurgh to eat and exercise - I appear to have lost 4lbs! Am sure most of it is water and will go straight back on when I feel better but appear to be 10 stone 3.5lbs today. Go figure.

thedogwalker · 23/09/2011 09:40

Well done Dinky on that huge loss, water or not its a good result and well done Belle back in the 10s, bet you feel wonderful, congratulations on achieving that milestone Smile.

1lb off here, so a step in the right direction for me, the first for many weeks, phew. Out for another run this morning, managed 5 miles today, so just need to double that in time for the great south run, which is only 37 days away...yikes.
Hope everyone has a good weigh in, take care xx
