Whoops. Managed to fill it up again! Hope it's OK to start a new one. Let's keep going everyone - big zonetastic push up to the festive season!!

Morning! LadyBuzz, glad Slimming World is going well for you, good luck for Monday! Hope your DD has a lovely party on Sunday Smile.
JAM, getting back on MFP will help you see exactly what you're eating and will help you feel more in control (it does for me anyway!). Amazing effort on the exercise front though!
Going to do 4 circuits of NMTZ after the school run. Spicy chicken soup for lunch (and ryvitas if I'm still hungry), then burger, sweet potato chips & salad for tea. Good luck to anyone else WI today! x

JAM - I think you need a new approach my friend. How about concentrating on measurements rather than weight for a few weeks (no getting on the scales) and focusing on portion size and water intake - I bet you'll find with all that exercise your measurements will go down in that time and it will give you a boost too. I've found the only way not to dive in the biscuit tin is not to have any biscuits or cake in the house (or at least any biscuits or cake I like - the kids are welcome to their rich tea fingers and DH is more than welcome to the left over mince pies, christmas pudding and fruit cake... bleurgh) - perhaps take that approach? And part of that 4lb gain may well be water retention so keep the faith and you will get there (and dont hide from us - we're here to encourage each other on!). I'm using MFP at the moment to keep track of calorie intake as not exercising - it is a good kick up the bum when it tells you what your weight will be in 5 weeks time if you have a blow out day which helps scale back for the next day I find.

Knotty - how did the cake go? Manage to resist licking out the bowl ok?

Lady - hope your DD has a lovely party. Ig you're doing the buffet hopefully you can make it SW friendly so you can partake too abit?

ThePaxton · 13/01/2012 18:59

JAM The same thing happened to me before Chirstmas, I was exercising and eating okay and not losing anything. I got really strict with MFP (thanks to Knotty's advice) and logged everything I was eating and have lost 3lbs since Christmas. Keep at it.
Lady hope DD has a lovely party. Its DP's bday today so have made him a carrot cake and will only have a small slice Grin
STS today, but not too worried. Tomorrow is another day!
Hope everyone had a good Friday.

justaminute · 14/01/2012 20:14

Dinky you talk a lot of sense (as always), it's stuff I know and spout to others but find it so hard to put into practice for myself. Sadly a biscuit has not yet been invented that I do not like and I've tested them all! I've been on MFP the last 2 days and it is the odd biscuit here and there that is doing the damage. MIL kindly gave us a tin of Xmas biscuits last week because she didn't want to put on weight - ha ha! i've the dcs have nearly finished them now so I'll replace them with rich tea fingers which I find to be the least damaging. I envisage mayhem if there were no biscuits in the house.

I took measurements at the start of the month and I'll measure again once I've done 30 days of the shred so I'll report back. The muscle ache of the early days has died down but my god level 2 is a killer! Oh so easily how one forgets! Planning a long run tomorrow morning if I can bear the frost.

Dinky - do you want any MFP friends? and have you put up a photo? You'll be able to see the lovely looking ladybuzz and Knotty and me too.

knottyhair · 15/01/2012 07:16

Morning! Dinky, the cake was lovely thanks! I did manage to resist licking out the bowl but did have a piece, just to be sociable you understand! JAM, it is hard with all the Christmas bits hanging around. Ours have nearly all gone thank goodness. Good idea to take measurements as well. I also dislike L2. I recommend Ripped in 30 when you fancy something else, similar setup to the Shred. Did L2 yesterday morning and I really enjoyed it. Walked into town with DS to get the train to a kid's party which was good fun. Had lunch in town on the way home (DS wanted Thai), so I had a small Pad Thai. Soup last night, but ended up having a very picky evening! Will try to do better today food wise but I'm not exercising as DS has his best mate here after a sleepover and the lounge has become overtaken by Lego! Soup for lunch and chicken with roasted root veg for tea. Hope everyone's having a good weekend x

Morning all. Very restrained with the cake Knotty - am v impressed! DS2's birthday is in Feb and he's requested a "tinga tinga tales" cake so I fear DH and I will be in the kitchen attempting (and failing) to make many a lion birthday cake in the next couple of weeks. Do you take mail orders? Grin

JAM - dont have a picture on MFP (prefer to remain anonymous!) but happy to make friends. PM me your details on MFP and will add you as a friend.

knottyhair · 16/01/2012 14:57

Afternoon! Ooh, Dinky, good luck with that cake! I can only do bog standard ones, nothing fancy I'm afraid! If all else fails, perhaps you could blind him with Tinga Tinga accessories like these !
Did L2 Ripped in 30 again today. Soup & half a sandwich for lunch whilst watching the end of last night's Sherlock and welling up. Roast chicken thigh with root mash, cabbage & gravy tonight. Was meant to have it last night but DP & DS suggested talked me into having a takeaway instead Blush.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 16/01/2012 15:48

Ha Knotty - those accessories are already purchased. But he's insistent he wants a Tinga Tinga Lion Cake - pesky child. Still cant quite believe my baby is going to be 3 - time has passed ridiculously fast.

LadyBuzz · 16/01/2012 19:50

Evening ladies. This week on Slimming world I have lost ........drumroll..... 4 whole pounds Grin despite a birthday party!
I'm really pleased its working, I wasn't convinced as you can eat soooo much.

I was really good yesterday DD had a fab time and I had fruit and veg in with the buffet so I could pick away but at the 'free' stuff.

I did sneak a couple of treats in but I counted them.

Good luck with the cake dinky DD had a pumpkin carriage but I didn't make it.

jam could you try something different for a while, i've found this week that because i'm having to concentrate on what i'm doing.

Just DDs actual birthday and mine next week to get through now!

dinkystinky · 17/01/2012 09:30

Wow a pumpkin carriage sounds v impressive Ladybuzz. Glad DD had a good birthday - and glad SW is working well for you.

Weighed in today and am down to 10.10.8 so another 2 and a half or so pounds off this past week. Rather pissed off - have to do a tax return and doing it has worked out work have cocked up my PAYE (only thing I earn through) and I now owe the tax man £££ (could be worse, it could be £££££ I guess Hmm) by the end of January. Suspect will be on the water, dry bread and gruel diet for the rest of January and February!

knottyhair · 17/01/2012 10:13

Wow, LadyBuzz, fantastic loss! Glad it's working so well for you Smile. Dinky, that's really good going to lose 2.5 lbs, especially without much exercise. How's your leg doing BTW? But what a shame about your work making that cock-up - I'd be really Angry.

Did L1 Killer Buns this morning - v.good! Tomato & lentil soup and half a sandwich for lunch and prawn & chorizo rice for tea. Have a good day everyone! x

OP posts:
knottyhair · 17/01/2012 10:14

Oh and Dinky, I'm Lucasmum on MFP if you want to be "friends" Smile.

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 17/01/2012 10:33

Cheers Knotty - will "friend" you. Leg getting better v slowly - am off the crutches totally now but still not really exercising as everything - even lifting weights - involves legs it seems. Seeing physio tomorrow so should have better idea of when I can start low impact exercise again then.

ThePaxton · 17/01/2012 12:38

Great weight loss Ladybuzz and Dinky and how annoying about work.
I did Ripped in 30 level 2 this morning, was okay. DS2 is off school ill, has a cold, tummy upset and looks very washy! Hope he'll be back tomorrow, he keeps waking up during the night and coming into our bed and he snores! I'm knackeredSmile Hope everyone has a good day.

thedogwalker · 17/01/2012 14:21

Hi all, just thoughy I'd report in, let you know I'm still knocking about. I do read the thread, but because I'm not really trying to lose weight, I don't want to post as I don't want to affect morale.
Lady and Dinky well done on those fab losses, so pleased for you. JAM, keep the faith girl, it will come off, and you know the advice given by the others is always spot on.
Dinky ouch to the tax bill, I'd be fuming, I never check my tax, so would be so mad to owe them money. Hope you can sort it soon and it doesn't cost you too much.
Knotty I see you are still the exercise guru, I'm not doing any shred at the moment, but I am interested in the ripped in 30. I will defo be looking at that after the LO is born.
I have gained a few pounds and but still fit in my size 12 suits, but I feel the maternity wear will have to come out of the wardrobe soon. I have my 20 week scan next Monday and I am hoping to find out the flavour, if the LO is in the correct position. I have a feeling I'm having another DS, but we'll see.
Hope you are all well and I will keep popping on from time to time, take care Smile xx

knottyhair · 17/01/2012 14:37

Hi TDW, great to hear how you're getting on. Glad it's all going OK, and good luck for the scan - hope the baby is "showing off" enough that you can find out the flavour! My niece had hers yesterday and I found out that I'll be great auntie to a little girl at the end of May. Let us know what you find out if you have time xxx

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 18/01/2012 12:16

TDW - lovely to see you on and glad all going well. Good luck for the scan. Impressed you've got to 20 weeks without breaking out the maternity wear - I think I was in it at 16 weeks with DS2! Be careful with jumping exercise v soon post birth - strengthen up that pelvic floor first before getting into it and the running.

Paxton - hope DS2 is better now. Congrats on impending great-auntiedom Knotty Grin

knottyhair · 18/01/2012 12:56

Afternoon! Thanks for the congrats Dinky! I still think of my niece as a little girl and have to remind myself that she is a 22 year old paediatric staff nurse!
Shredded this morning. Soup & ryvitas for lunch and am about to make a bolognese sauce for spag bol later. Made a rice pud yesterday and had a small portion for pudding last night - yum! Hope everyone's having a good day x

knottyhair · 18/01/2012 12:57

Hello all, hope everyone is well.
Knotty I need your help, well any of you can help me, I just automatically thought of Knotty as she is always posting really great recipes. I got Kale in my veg box this week and I've never cooked with it, don't really know what it is Blush. Do you have any recipes for Kale or can you recommend any from the good food site?

TalkinPeace2 · 18/01/2012 21:04

just butting in - good evening
Kale is WONDERUL
slice out the middle stem, cut it crosswise into strips about 1/2 inch then steam over something else - stir in a couple of raisins, or use to soak up a tomatoey sauce
its nice with a dash of creme fraiche and some butter
think half way between cabbage and spinach
I grow it because its such a useful cut and come again right through the winter

LadyBuzz · 18/01/2012 21:07

tdw glad everything is well, hope your LO 'performs' for you.

DD is 1 today, I can't believe how fast the last year has gone Shock

knotty congratulations on getting a great niece - lovely.

paxton hope DS2 is better and you have caught up on some sleep.

dinkystinky · 18/01/2012 22:11

We had a yummy kale and chilli recipe the other week - super healthy and totally yum TDW. Sophie Grigson recipe I think.

knottyhair · 19/01/2012 09:26

Morning! TDW, I'd certainly echo all suggestions so far for kale - strip the leaves from the stem (not sure if you've got curly or Russian but the same applies). I stir-fry it with garlic, ginger, chilli & soy sauce, or it's good with bacon or chorizo. One of DS's favourites is pasta with kale, crispy bits of chorizo and a bit of creme fraiche. It's also nice with an "agro dolce" type dressing, sort of sweet & sour, vinegar & sugar boiled together, or as Talkinpeace said, raisins or sultanas added. Hope you like it!
Rest day for me today. Soup & ryvitas for lunch, haven't decided on tea yet as I need to rummage in my box first so to speak. LadyBuzz, happy birthday to your DD for yesterday Smile!

thedogwalker · 19/01/2012 09:33

Thanks for the recipe ideas. Happy birthday to DD of Lady, hope you all have a fantastic day. Take lots of photos.
Hope everyone is well xx
