The advice I was given in both pregnancies is that its fine to continue doing exercise you're used to - try not to overexert yourself, dont let your temperature rise too high and if possible use a heart rate monitor to ensure that you keep your heart rate elevated but not too elevated. If you're used to running and dont get too hot (I'm a sweaty wreck by the end of it) then I think you'll be ok - but if you cant keep up the running and 10 miles is going to be a stretch for you I'd gracefully bow out to be honest.

dinkystinky · 05/10/2011 12:07

BTW I was pregnant with DS1 and DS2 without realising both times - about 3 weeks gone with DS1 and no damage done and similar with DS2 - the running was really hard work though which made me wonder if I was pregnant the second time and lo and behold a 2 year old stomping around the house nowadays bossing me about Grin

thedogwalker · 05/10/2011 12:27

Yeah I think if I was used to running 10 miles etc then I wouldn't mind but with only just getting back to it after suffering knee and then back injuries, I'm not sure it's wise. I've done a 5 milers for a few weeks now and felt fine but then last friday, I was really tired doing it and felt more out of breath than usual, now I know why, but my body most certainly didn't like it. I've got loads of sponsors, what do I do??

dinkystinky · 05/10/2011 13:04

Can you transfer your place to someone else and explain to your sponsors that you're having to pull out due to health issues (be non-specific but blame your knee if need be) but they can sponsor your replacement if they wish?

LadyBuzz · 05/10/2011 15:54

Congratulations TDW that is fantastic news i'm so pleased for you!
I only put 1 1/2 stone on with DD (4 with both DSs Blush) and 8 1/2 months on I am a stone lighter then when i got pg. I can't give you any advice though as i have no idea why it was so different i'm sure I ate just as much as i did with the boys!

dinky I wish i had known about frozen grapes in my labour with DS1 (june 2006) in horrid heat!

PMT nibbling here too, hoping not to have put on DHs birthday was Sunday so had a couple of biffing days over the weekend and a night on the drink on Saturday, We sat and watched the gay pride event over the road and it was definately eye opening Shock

No celeb shoulder rubbing here either - I did see Roxanne Pallett and Richard Fleeshman in music zone once Grin

justaminute · 05/10/2011 18:10

Congratulations TDW. I'm really pleased for you, it's just what you wanted. I don't envy you the tiredness I remember that was a killer and so much harder to deal with second time around as you have dc1 to add to your woes. Please do stick around. I'll kick your butt if you kick mine.

BelleEnd · 05/10/2011 19:54

Oh yes, the tiredness is a bugger in pregnancy isn't it. My sister is 15 weeks and she sleeps from the moment she comes in from work until the moment she has to leave for work again. She also got hilariously hormonal when she was about 8 weeks, until I fed her hobnobs- Her blood sugar was low and she hadn't realized that she needed to eat regularly. Biscuits to the rescue! :o
I actually lost weight with my first pg because I had horrific hyperemesis for most of it. I didn't weigh myself, but I went weeks without eating (was on a drip). I had no sickness the second time, so I ate for both pregnancies in one go :o - mainlining Star Bars! I didn't think at all about nutrition and vitamins, which I do feel guilty about now- If I'm lucky enough to get pg again, I'll do things differently.

Well, we had a day at a local market town today, which was great. Decided not to watch what I was eating, but after a tuna mayo baguette with crisps (and chips nicked from the kids' plates) I was too full for anything substantial tonight so just had a small salad. Had a wonder round the charity shops, tried a few size 12 tops on that actually fit! Though I didn't buy them, they were Joules and they made me look like Princess Anne. :o

thedogwalker · 05/10/2011 20:00

Thanks everyone for your kind words, and yes the tiredness is already kicking in, not going to tell work until 12 week point, so hope I can make til then without falling asleep. There is absolutley no way I'll be losing weight, already eaten chocolate today and could easily eat more. Hope everyone else is doing better than me.

Shaxx · 06/10/2011 10:22

TDW!!! Congratulations! Brilliant happy news. Yes, you def have to stay on the thread. No need to lose weight but don't do what I did and think wahay I'm eating for two and really I was probably eating for 6!

I was getting a bit broody with my friend yesterday. It was so windy and I had a flashback to when my two were little babies and how they'd catch their breath, keep blinking and look worried whenever it was windy.

I've not been feeling too great over the last days so no exercise and a bit of comfort food. I'm better now so will try to get to the gym today.

thedogwalker · 06/10/2011 10:55

Shaxx I hope the gym makes you feel loads better and that you are over the not feeling too good. I think it is the drastic change in weather which hits our systems and knocks us for six. Belle good news on the size 12 tops, whooo hooo. Good for you girl.
I've bought lots of healthy snacks, organic rice cakes, organic oat cakes, organic fruit and organic nuts (all my food is organic except meat, which I can't afford as it is soooo expensive), to munch on at work so that I don't attack the chocolate and biscuits, like I have done the lst few days. I am determined not to put on as much weight as last time.
Hope everyone is having a fab day Smile

dinkystinky · 06/10/2011 11:05

Hope you feel better soon Shaxx - lots of bugs doing the rounds at th emoment.

TDW - make sure you keep up your fluid levels too. Your organic overload made me laugh. Keep up the exercise for as long as you feel up to it too - you'll feel better for it I promise. Just remember my tips up above.

knottyhair · 06/10/2011 12:09

TDW, listen to your body and do what it tells you, as much as you can. I used to get home from work and go to bed for a couple of hours, but then I didn't have other children to deal with! And have a shop around for organic meat. We managed to find a farm that delivers and the price is very competitive. I also get organic meat from Waitrose as and when it's reduced and stick it in the freezer. Just a thought Smile. Belle, great news about the size 12s! Well done! Shaxx, hope you feel better, don't overdo it at the gym if you're not 100%.

Had a day off Jillian today (decided now I'm maintaining to have 2 days off a week). Veg soup for lunch and going to make a bean chilli with rice & veg for dinner. Could be windy inside & out today Grin. Hope you all have a good one x

thedogwalker · 06/10/2011 12:37

lol Knotty, poooweee as I would say to my DS, when he does a trump Grin

BelleEnd · 06/10/2011 12:38

EVERY TIME I have breakfast, it leaves me staaaaaaaaaarving all day! Argh! I had a little porridge this morning because I thought I should before taking DS2 swimming, and now I can't stop eating!
Making veg soup now, so I can scoff that as I please without worrying too much about the fat content. Thank the lord for Morrissons Stew Packs... They are my saviour!
Hope you're all having a good day.

thedogwalker · 06/10/2011 13:00

Belle Hope you get rid of the dreaded munchies. Maybe you need to factor in a couple of snacks for throughout the morning, good substantial ones, I find 15g of nuts really fills me up, not immediatley but it does the trick and a few nuts contain healthy oils. Or the usual suspects, bananas, raisins, prepared pasta etc. Sorry not much help. Mmm stew, gives me hankerings for a nice meaty stew this weekend, yum yum.

BelleEnd · 06/10/2011 19:46

How did you all do today? Hope you're all well, and that TDW is feeling a little less tired. You've made me very broody... :o

I ate more than I needed today, but not too much. Just went a bit nuts with the Quorn sausages at lunchtime! I had them with dark rye ryvita and salad. Had mixed veg soup for dinner, which was absolutely disgusting- I felt a bit guilty serving it up but no-one dared complain! I think it was horrible because I put too much cabbage in- You know that horrible farty taste... :o
Ryvitas as snacks and I allowed myself a diet coke tonight because the fizz fills me up.

Good luck with tomorrow morning's weigh-in!

LadyBuzz · 06/10/2011 21:13

shaxx DD was doing the shocked wind face today very very cute! Hope you feel better soon.

belle well done on the size 12 tops! I'm still having to buy 16 tops to accomodate my stupid boobs Angry

I think my weight loss even on bad weeks is mainly due to DD never ever being still, I need eyes in my bum to keep up with her at the moment, bless her she is almost walking now so it is bound to get worse Grin

Good luck for tomorrow everyone (except knotty & tdw of course).

Shaxx · 06/10/2011 21:23

ladybuzz aaah to your cute dd shocked wind face!

Belle well done on your size 12's (sorry I missed that earlier). I can get into loose 12's but am really a 14 on top Sad. Bleurgh to cabbage soup. It makes me sick after I did a weeks of cabbage soup diet once.

TDW well done on the healthy snacks. Much to my shame, I used to snack on boxes of chocolates when I was pregnant with ds1 thanks to dh buying me one nearly every friday!

I had a good day today. Hooray. I've gone back to old faithful myfitnesspal. It really does help.

dinkystinky · 06/10/2011 21:50

Yes I missed the 12s too Belle - well done!

Love the baby in wind faces. DS1 was like that when I used to make a bbrrr noise with my lips. Loved it.

How is the new job going Ladybuzz?

Am sat here waiting for an Asda delivery that is over an hour past its delivery slot and the muppets at Asda cant tell me when its going to arrive Angry Am definitely going back to Ocado!

LadyBuzz · 06/10/2011 21:57

dinky it was a tad dissapointing on Monday, My manager was away at a funeral and the other girl on annual leave, so i read 600 emails did 15 mins training and drank tea Grin
Should get into it properly on Monday!

Grr at Asda, do you not qualify for some sort of discount for that?

dinkystinky · 06/10/2011 21:59

They didnt offer me one when I called up to complain an hour ago! Useless buggers

Sorry Monday was a bit of awash out but am sure all will be great on Monday now you've had a gentle intro to it.

LadyBuzz · 06/10/2011 22:02

It did help I must say, I was home by quarter past 3 Grin but my manager did say they are snowed under so it looks like it will be busy. Felt like I had never been away TBH!

dinkystinky · 06/10/2011 22:13

Called to complain again and am told the Asda delivery is running an hour late Hmm So why isnt it here over an hour past its slot then? Its not even like its snowing or anything out there. Stupid stupid stupid Asda.

LadyBuzz · 06/10/2011 22:32

Its a bit off esp at this time of the evening!! I would send them a strongly worded letter and maybe you will get some compensation!
Stupid Asda indeed!

Shaxx · 06/10/2011 23:07

Dinky what a pain. I would be so annoyed. Send them an email.
