Today is a new day. I WILL do better!

Stick could your headaches be dehydration?

PositiveAttitude · 13/05/2011 07:18

Good morning to everyone.

Can I just say thank you to everyone on here!! I know its not very Mumsnetty, but this thread has been so supportive and encouraging and its great to read others are getting results. Its also positive to read that I am not the only person who has the odd wobble, so thank you for all being so honest! Smile

Stickwithit - could the headaches have anything to do with not drinking enough water? I used to have headaches around 4pm, would always disappear with chocolate, but since drinking more water during the morning I ahve not had one! I used to hardly ever drink anything, if I did it was usually carbonated. I am sure the water drinking is a huge part of why I am feeling so much better now. Although I find I am running from my office for a wee every 5 minutes! Grin

Ladywhiteadder, I am a swimmer and I much prefer breast stroke, but I started to do every 10th length crawl, and sometimes every 5th length. I find the breast stroke relaxing, but feel that I really am exercising when I do crawl, IYSWIM.

Silverymoon- Have you thought of trying to listen to the CD before the evening? I have found that if I have not had time to listen first thing in the morning I need to listen straight after work, before I get the munchies. As soon as I listen I instantly seem to be able to think more clearly about food, whether I am actually hungry and what food to eat for the rest of the day. But I am not as proficient at this as lots on here, so I may be corrected, its just a personal observation. Smile

I have had a bit of a mad start to the morning. When I arrived downstairs, butt naked and ready for a shower, a stupid cat (not one of ours) had got into the rabbit run! I ended up running out into the garden n my birthday suit He panicked when I tried to get him out and ran through the wire meshing, causing a hole. I thought I had mended the hole, but within 10 minutes the rabbits had got out and were frantically trying to get back in, but couldnt!! Oh the joy of animals. WHile I have been typing this they have escaped again and I have now done some neat rewiring with some cable to repair the run, - again!!!

Hairdressers after work this morning, a treat to myself. Grin

have a good day everyone.

PositiveAttitude · 13/05/2011 07:20

Sorry, Obi, it took me so long to type all that out while chasing rabbits that I x-posted. Blush

SilveryMoon · 13/05/2011 07:49

Oh PA Well, hope today calms down then Smile
I can't really listen to it any earlier, the ds's are up at 6am so I'd have to get up earlier which is not happening.
Ds2 is still at home all day so the only time I am able to is after they go to bed.

TheOriginalFAB · 13/05/2011 08:04

I have a question. Sometimes I feel a bit out of it. I won't faint but I feel whoozy/light headed. When I stand up I often get dizzy and have done that for a long time.

shrinkingnora · 13/05/2011 08:10

Morning ladies. I am struggling to post at the moment for some reason, but finding a lot of support from lurking and reading your posts. Pauling going pretty ok at the moment, some aspects are really becoming second nature.

I am finally going blonde(ish) again having said two threads ago that I was going to. And I am finally started a martial art, having said two threads ago that I was going to. It's all coming together!

shrinkingnora · 13/05/2011 08:11

When does this happen, Fab? Do you mean you are just sitting there and suddenly feel a bit out of it?

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 13/05/2011 08:46

stickwithit Your headaches could be down to not drinking enough water, it is amazing how much we actually should be drinking! Also, if you have been eating lots of sugary stuff recently you might be having a minor withdrawel, it should pass. Yes, you really can eat what you like but ONLY when hungry, this is how we ensure that we are not overeating. If you are not hungry in the morning, don't eat. You will probably find that as you get used to this way of eating that you eat less in the evening or maybe earlier and then you will naturally feel hungry earlier the next day.

Fab I am no doctor but when people feel faint, it is usually because there is something the body is not getting. The only downside I can see with this system is that by only eating what you want, it is possible (not likely, depends on what your diet was like before) that you are missing some important nutrients. Go see your doctor, they can do an iron test and other things to find out what you are lacking and you can incorporate it into your diet. But please get some advice from a professional, we are all here for support but you should not be feeling like this and it is probably really easy to sort out when you see the right person.

shrinkingnora loving the positivity. What martial art are you doing? They are great for toning and weight loss aren't they?

PA Grin Nothing more to say about that!

Right, late for work, have a good day all!

SilveryMoon · 13/05/2011 08:51

FAB I'd guess that you are not eating and drinking enough. But as dingdong says, it might be best to visit your gp.

Ok, today is already going bad. I have just eaten half a pack of chocolate chip cookies, not because I was hungry, but because I had to eat them. Not from a plate either, from the packet, held at my chin Blush
FFS.

SilveryMoon · 13/05/2011 09:02

Ok ok ok ok. I know we're not supposed to weigh ourselves, but being on the brink of deciding that I actually like over eating, decided to have a look.
Lat saturday i weighed 16st 3lbs. Today I weigh 16st.
Now I know that 3lbs isn't alot and you could probably pass some of that in a bowel movement, but am gonna stick with it, see what happens by next weekend

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2011 09:14

Stickwithit imo your headaches are caffeine and sugar related; as you get to prefer foods with more nutritional value; P.M. reckons that happens when we are given real choice they may get worse before getting better!

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2011 09:22

What you can do is the 'tapping technique' it works for cravings and to get to sleep I have found! will probably help headaches as well!!

BsshBossh · 13/05/2011 09:58

DingDong and Silvery (and anyone I've missed) - well done on the losses Smile.

The support on this thread is amazing - so much positivity. I am reading each and every message though not contributing much as I am still feeling ill.

niecie, without even weighing myself (weigh day not for another week) I know I've lost weight this week from being ill as my jeans are now sagging at the bum and my belt has gone in another notch.

There is always the risk I will be ravenous next week once I've recovered and therefore put some of the pounds back on but the wonderful thing about Pauling is that you need to listen to your body's true physical signals so if my body needs re-fuelling more than usual to get better then I must abide by that but at the same time always ensure it's physical hunger and not emotional or mouth hunger.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 13/05/2011 10:04

Quick post, I will catch up later.

I have lost 1lb in a fortnight - ho hum. But it is down and not up, and I do feel much better in my mind. I have been measuring myself too, and I've lost an inch off my waist and half an inch off my hips and bust - so definitely progress.

Niecie · 13/05/2011 12:03

Well done Alibaba - 1lb is good especially as you have a new baby and are bf (apologies if I have made a massive faux pas and got any of that wrong). You can't go losing 5lbs in a week and you have to keep eating. The important thing is that you are losing inches.

Silveryfrog and Dingdong. Well done to you both.

BsshBosch - Well done on your bagginess! There is always the danger, that you get better and get hungry and put some back on but from my own experience, if you have continued to eat a bit then that might not happen. It does tend to happen if you stop eating completely like if you have a gastric thing but not so much if you just lose some appetite. Like you say, you just have to stick to the rules and go with it. Hope you are improving and back to normal soon.

I had a really bad nights sleep last night. For some reason I was thinking about SATS, FGS! I blame the school governors meeting, DS1 sitting the blessed things and a MN discussion for that but what a thing to be thinking about as it starts getting light at 4am in the morning! I wasn't even worrying, I was just mulling things over! I am doing OK at the moment but I dread to think what this evening will be like. I predict a major energy slump and a massive craving for chocolate! I shall have to gird my loins against it and be strong!Smile

TheOriginalFAB · 13/05/2011 12:16

nora it happens when I am on my feet but I get dizzy and heavy head when I stand up. Two different things.

silverymoon well done!

Niecie · 13/05/2011 12:49

TheOriginalFAB - how is your blood pressure? The light headed and dizziness on standing is often associated with low blood pressure which is generally a good thing unless it is so low that you are fainting a lot. I have had it in the past. Sadly, since putting on weight it hasn't been an issue as I suspect my blood pressure is higher than it used to be

However, I do think (not sure though) it might also be a indicator of high blood pressure so it might be worth a visit to the docs to get it checked out.

TheOriginalFAB · 13/05/2011 12:51

BP has always been fine when taken. It is low when pregnant but goes up to a more normal level so they say it is fine. I won't be pregnant again Sad.

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 13/05/2011 13:06

niecie - you are right, and I mustn't be hard on myself. I have an amazing non- sleeping, yelling baby this morning though and poor DS1 isn't getting a look in. I am not Pauling, food is being shovelled in at random when I get a chance. I know it isn't proper hunger, but I am so tired today that I can't make myself care.
Tomorrow will be another day :)

Joltek · 13/05/2011 13:33

Hi,

I was wondering if it's ok if I join in on this thread? I have done Paul Mckenna before and it really worked for me, I'm not really why I stopped but have been doing it again for nearly a week and remembered how great it was and how much more sense it makes than other diets.
Hope to get to know you all!

Bry x

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2011 13:41

just reread this page and LOl at positive running about nuddy in the garden after the rabbits!! I'm not keen on them they always look like the light's on but no one's in to me!

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2011 13:47

Ali shove the baby in the buggy take DS1 and go out for a good walk! Tiredness is hard;it apparently it changes our enyzmes making it harder to control our appetites.

SilveryMoon · 13/05/2011 14:39

Niecie Sorry you had a rubbish night's sleep. Hope you're not feeling too bad.
Ali Go easy on yourself. It's not easy with lo's around, especially teeny babies.
Joltek Welcome to the thread Smile

Not doing too bad today. Just had half a plate of chips for lunch in tesco cafe.
Sitting down now for 10 mins before I have to collect ds1 from school. Ds2 is playing peek-a-boo from behind the laptop screen Grin

BsshBossh · 13/05/2011 14:49

My lunch was a handful of crisps and a small pack of white chocolate buttons. Amazing how good crap tastes when most of your senses are numbed with flu!!!

ppeatfruit · 13/05/2011 14:58

Dotty I forgot to ask you if the lemon shortbread was good another request for the recipe please. Are they from Phil Vickery's book ?D'you reckon it's worth buying?
