Ok am taken the plunge and just ordered this on Amazon. Really needing a kick start so hope its as good as it sounds!

shrinkingnora · 13/05/2011 16:03

Silverymoon- 3lb in six days is half a pound a day! This is quite a lot, you know! The equivalent of nearly a packet of butter. And this is why I have stopped weighing myself because you are losing loads but you still feel it is not good enough. That's the mindset that needs to change. Weightloss is actually a side effect of eating the right amount of food for your body's needs if you see what I mean. Out of interest, how much weightloss in a week would be enough? Because when I sit down and think about it, it's never enough..... I would only really be happy with my target. Madness!

Hi new people - this thread is hugely supportive and pretty busy, so ask any questions you have and you should get answers pretty quickly.

And Ali - when breastfeeding, 1/2lb a week sounds about perfect to me. If I lose much more it really effects my milk supply and energy levels. Just go slowly and surely.

And hello everyone else. I wore a dress to work today. This is virtually unheard of. And someone said to me "Have you been on a crash diet?" Hmm

DottyDot · 13/05/2011 16:24

Hello! Yes the shortbread was amazing - turned out even better than the sesame seed biscuits - I brought them into work (only had 2 myself Grin) and they got a very positive reception. Mind you, any free food brought into work is pounced upon...!

Bad day emotionally today - horrible work day and I'm feeling very stressed, so I'm trying not to convert that into eating - which I'd normally do. So far so good, although I did only want to have one biscuit and it ended up being two Blush.

Fortunately I have a massage booked for tonight so my worries can be rubbed away Grin

SilveryMoon · 13/05/2011 16:59

alright nora You have a good point. Smile
hiya florence welcome. Good luck (not that you'll need it!) I'm an actually real, proper chocoholic, I mean I am addicted. I could quite easily and on most days actually do have 3/4 kingsize twix's plus a big bar of chocolate in the evening. Not forgetting hot chocolate drinks, and chocolate mousse, ice cream etc, and I have had (in comparison) hardly any chocolate in the 1 week I've done this.
Ok, so I've slipped up a few times, but I figure I've had 1 big bar of chocolate (or was it 2??) this week, but instead of thinking what I have eaten, look at what I haven't eaten!
It's great.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 13/05/2011 17:34

welcome joltek and florence :)

PA you have made me laugh with your nudey antics! Grin

I always have a wee peep at the other threads, and everyone is so glum, worrying about social occasions, wanting a bit of choclate/glass of wine and generally just being miserable. Its such a contrast to our positive, happy thread! I love our thread!

I am starting the couch to 5km tomorrow eeek!

Hello everyone and welcome to the new people.

I'm still not doing very well - partly tiredness, I think as I haven't been sleeping well, but it's starting to get me down. I've lost a little bit, but I'm still in the same size trousers. So I am very impressed with all of your losses and would love to know what you're doing that I am not. I feel stuck and it's annoying me. Grump.

Have a good weekend everyone - I will be off cycling if it's not pouring with rain.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 13/05/2011 18:05

Hello flo!!! glad you have decided not to diet with us! you'll be glad you're here I'm sure.

onesandwichshort · 13/05/2011 18:06

Sorry, that was very self-centred. Well done everyone who is doing so well, and I'm really sorry that I can't say more, but this thread moves so fast and I can't keep up!

SoloIsAHotCougar · 13/05/2011 18:09

I am the same onesandwich, can't reead fast enough and miss out loads.

SoloIsAHotCougar · 13/05/2011 18:10

Oh and I stuck for a while too and then bingo, it's falling off again, so don't despair :)

shrinkingnora · 13/05/2011 18:16

Onesandwich - Think of the 'stuck time' as 'consolidation time'. You are teaching yourself how to eat again from scratch. I think it is natural when learning something new to need a little bit of time where things are just sinking in and becoming natural to you.

shrinkingnora · 13/05/2011 19:17

I have noticed another difference in my thinking - I went to the shop for cake to take round to my pregnant friend's house and I couldn't choose. I just didn't really want cakey stuff any more. I ended up getting a really worthy carrot cake. It was delicious and I really enjoyed it but it reminded me how much I need food with oomph.

On that note, here is my pre Paul and post Paul diet. I know some others posted theirs and it was really interesting to see. Mine is boring though Wink

Breakfast - 2 bowls cereal or 2-4 pieces of toast and jam. Still hungry after.
Midmorning - leftovers from last nights supper, actually meant to be lunch but...
Lunchtime - whatever the dinner lady couldn't get rid of eg 3 cold fishfingers or crumble and custard
Midafternoon - chocolate or cake or biscuits or a secret sweet binge
Supper - really lovely family meal that I would often eat when I was already stuffed to disguise my secret after work binge Blush
Extra food throughout evening eg four chocolate bars or half a packet of biscuits (not every evening but several times a week)

But now....
Breakfast - very small bowl of Dorset cereals fruit, nuts and seeds muesli or one slice of seeded wholemeal toast with peanut butter and jam.
Lunch - innocent veg pot. Sometimes an apple.
In the dining hall - a piece of cake or some crumble or even some cold fishfingers. But ONLY if I am hungry.
After work - malt loaf or flapjack or fruit or another small bowl of muesli.
Supper - about 1/3 of what I used to eat of the family meal (mostly the veg).
Extra food in the evening - not much really. Sometimes I fancy a bit more malt loaf, sometimes I just have a hot choc.
NB - if I don't cycle to work then I don't want nearly as much as this.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 13/05/2011 20:49

I am not even going to write down what I used to eat, it is far too disgusting to share Blush Lets put it this way, I rarely went an hour without eating til I was full! It was shocking.

Now -

Breakfast - egg in a hole (slice of whoelwheat bread, hole cut the middle & given to DS to nibble, dropped in a frying pan, egg cracked in the middle. cook then flip, then serve after a few minutes - fabby!)

mid-morning - 2 crackers & cheese

lunch - half a wrap/small bowl of soup/small pack sushi/dinner leftovers (oly one of these obvioulsy)

midafternoon - 1 digestive, or half a bag of crisps or handfull nuts

dinner - 1/3 of the size of meal I used to eat, with lots more veg and hardly any rice/pasta/potatoes (not enough taste in those to bother chewing 20 times lol)

OP posts:
DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 13/05/2011 21:27

My pre-Paul diet was pretty much:
Breakfast: Nothing
The entire rest of the day: Anything I could get my hands on!
As the day went on, I ate more and was often eating til gone midnight. Yuk.

OK, I have read from where I left off and...

Silvery 3lbs is quite a lot, I know how you feel as it doesn't seem like much compared to how much we have to lose but would you have rather not lost those 3lbs? WELL DONE!

BsshBossh If you are more hungry next week, surely it will be because you have lost too much too quickly and therefore your body will adjust to what you can sustainably lose? I hope you feel better soon, I really feel like I know you lot now and want you all happy and healthy!

Ali an inch off your waist is AMAZING! And if like me you have been continuously gaining for ages, 1lb off is worth much more than that as it is 1lb off AS WELL AS 0lb gained. Great work!

FAB do see the GP, they can test for things we wouldn't even think off and it would be crap to be feeling like this when something simple could sort it. Is it too personal to ask why you wont be pregnant again and why this makes you sad? Sorry if it is, it is entirely your business, not (just) being nosey, but we will all be listening ears if you need them x

Joltek and Florence Welcome! It is amazing to have the freedom to eat what you want and it completely changes your attitude to food. I still LOVE food but know it is essentially fuel so just eat when I am hungry but anything I want, brilliant!

ShrinkingNora Going blonde and a new dress? You will soon be unrecognisable! Grin

Dotty It is lovely to treat yourself to something other than food isn't it? Hope you enjoyed your massage.

Glaikit Well done for giving yourself the extra incentive of couch to 5k. You are going to be so toned as well as slim and gorgeous (I am aware I am verging on flirting Blush just so proud of everyone!)

Onesandwich you are probably doing nothing different, lack of sleep makes your body's signals harder to read. Take care of yourself and try everything. It is hard to wind down completely what with work/family/friends to see to, let us know what you have tried and we might be able to offer suggestions

Solo dear, do try to keep up Wink

Phew! Anyone I have missed, I am very proud of you too

Have a great weekend x

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 13/05/2011 21:29

Sorry to have destroyed everyone's page view with my rambling Blush

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 13/05/2011 21:40

Confessional - I have eaten a vast amount of Dairy Milk Fruit and Nut.

I will not loathe myself. I am going to go and listen to the CD and go to bed. :)

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 13/05/2011 22:06

Good choice Ali tomorrow is another day. Happy listening!

DottyDot · 13/05/2011 22:46

oooh - my new Paul book came today so I can download the CD onto my phone tomorrow and listen to it on the way to/from work and at bed time Grin

Had a wonderful massage - my first in 7 years, as the last time I got round to having one was when I was pregnant... So, am very chilled out but still managed to shred - so I've done my target 4 for the week - surely that means a bottle or two of wine can be opened tomorrow night?!

Goodnight all Smile

SoloIsAHotCougar · 14/05/2011 00:01

Yes Mum, I'll try! Grin

SilveryMoon · 14/05/2011 07:06

Right, coz I'm going to weigh myself every saturday. I've just done it. 15st 12lbs. So that's 5lbs in a week. 2lbs since yesterday Hmm

BsshBossh · 14/05/2011 08:20

SilveryMoon - great losses. But what's with the Hmm? Don't question or overthink it too much or you'll become too fixated on numbers and it'll feel like a diet.

SilveryMoon · 14/05/2011 09:05

2lbs just seems like alot since yesterday, but I suppose weight does go up and down slightly by day doesn't it.
Anyhow, I am 5lbs lighter than I was this time last week. I can't 'see' a difference yet, but if I'm losing weight that will come.
You won't offend me Bssh

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 14/05/2011 09:53

Silvery that is fab!

I've also decided that Saturday should be weights and measures day. No change on the scales, but another half an inch off my hips. Things are obviously still tightening up post-baby.

Dotty - it would be rude not to open some wine on a Saturday, surely?

I have not eaten my breakfast very mindfully, but I am really coming to hate the feeling of being too full. I have only had one slice of toast this morning, normally that would be a starter at the weekend when there is more time to enjoy a leisurely breakfast!

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2011 10:24

onesandwich a great way to help yr sleep is take 2 kelp supplements before bed and also (this is my new discovery!) buy some castor oil and put on yr eyelids at bedtime. It is fab for ALL skin probs as well.

ppeatfruit · 14/05/2011 10:30

SILVERY I was thinking about yr neighbour IMO she needs parenting classes and Surestart ;would she listen to yr. advice do you think? it must be awful for you.
