Sparkling new thread Grin

Firstly, the Golden Rules

  1. Eat what you WANT
  2. Eat when you are HUNGRY
  3. Eat CONCIOUSLY
  4. STOP when you are satisfied

Here is the book on Amazon which is all you need to get started!

This is the tapping technique explained - this can be useful for cravings.

Please feel free to join us :)

I'm being weighed at the nurses clinic tomorrow morning and I don't know if I'm dreading it or not. We shall see!

onesandwichshort · 09/05/2011 18:17

Hello everybody - just dropping in quickly as otherwise I will be lost.

ppfruit - I've gone back to cycling, and do half an hour most days (the world and its weather allowing). Although I'm getting quicker, so I'm going to have to extend the circuit a bit... I am having chronic insomnia this week, but not even cycling is sorting it, so I am a bit grumpy (understatement) and struggling not to snack. I would like to treat myself tonight, but have to tidy up for a viewing tomorrow. Gah.

But enough wittering - Silvery Moon, that is Zen Master like control over food, I am impressed.

Mycat - use the cravings buster for things like choc - I couldn't give up crisps (my personal weakness) but it does mean I don't snack on them now except when I am hungry.

Ali - happy birthday for tomorrow. And hello new people, and everyone else. I'm off back to the cleaning...

CheerfulYank · 09/05/2011 19:35

I'm back I'm back!

Today is my Official Day One because I just got my journal. YAY! :)

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 09/05/2011 20:52

Dotty There are loads on ebay dead cheap.
ebay books and cds

Silvery that will be my ultimate test, sitting in the cinema and not scoffing everything in front of me before the film actually starts! Not a bad day today, have picked a bit but on tiny amounts and healthy food so don't feel too bad about it. Chicken kiev for dinner which I always avoided before because of the creaminess but bring it on Grin

CheerfulYank hope your first journal entry was a positive one!

ladywhiteadder · 09/05/2011 21:00

silverymoon that is indeed amazing malteser control! Envy

obiwan hope the KIT day went ok?

Think I have done ok today. I seem to be getting v good at hunger/fullness but still forget to slow down. It will come I guess if I keep practising. I have had a very bready day though and am really bloated. Does that happen to anyone else?

Back to work tomorrow - fairly sure I'll have forgotten everything I know! Still, I bought some skechers tone ups so maybe my bum will be shrinking as I'm ballsing it all up! Grin

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 09/05/2011 21:04

Yank - yay!

lady - yes, especially if a lot of it has been white/pizza base etc etc.

I have done ok today. Went for a 40 minute walk with DS2 in the sling - I was so worn out! I feel good though, and I left some on my plate at lunch and dinnertime today :)

DottyDot · 09/05/2011 23:10

well I went on Amazon and ordered a copy Blush Have had a really good day today - controlled eating - including only eating 2 after eights my Mum brought round, which I consider to be a minor miracle success and I shredded as well (can barely breathe, let alone type).

Here's to a good day tomorrow for all of us Smile

ObiWanKenobi · 10/05/2011 06:30

Lady will be sending positive thoughts your way! My KIT day was fine. Whenever I go to them I think it won't be so bad when I do go back. But when in here I hate the idea. Cycled there and back along the canal. It's the first time I've been on my bike since DD was born. Felt great - I used to cycle everywhere bit think I may have put my recovering foot back a bit - broke it two months ago. Meant to start a postnatal yoga class next week so hope it will be ok for that.

all what is the shred? Thought it was a really restrictive diet so how does that fit with this?

PositiveAttitude · 10/05/2011 06:49

A much more positive day yesterday for me, too. I ended up eating at weird times just because I wasnt hungry at the meal times. I even managed to do my weekly shopping in the early evening before my meal because I wasnt hungry before I needed to go. This would normally have resulted in me picking up lots of rubbish and scoffing the lot when I got home. BUT yesterday I bought things that I knew I would really like and had a lovely meal when I got home. Smile

I even walked to work yesterday, which was another miracle! Smile
I cant walk today as I am working 12 miles away, but swimming tonight.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 10/05/2011 07:03

Everyone seems to be doing so well :)

SilveryMoon · 10/05/2011 07:04

Morning all
Dotty The 30 day shred is an extreme fitness workout. It works on confusing muscle toning which is supposed to help us lose more quicker.
There are 3 levels. You start with level 1 and do it every day for 10 days and then move onto level 2 and so on.
It's 20 minutes a day.
I did it for a while (well about 5 days), is really hard. I remember the first time I did it, I thought I was going to die, then she said "That's the warm-up complete" Blush

Are you all trying to do the shred? Suppose if I want to get rid of the sagginess of my belly, I do need to do something.

I ended up over-eating a bit at dinner. As I'd told dp I wanted a day off life yesterday, he did the shopping and bought pizza for dinner. As my favourite, I do find it difficult not to eat it all.
Oh well, was 1 meal, no biggie.

1 slice of toast and a cuppa for breakfast.

Off to a friends today so won't be on much. Stay in control people Smile

DottyDot · 10/05/2011 08:06

Morning all!

No probably just me being bonkers shredding, but from doing it before I know I feel a difference very quickly and I'm doing the 10K Race for Life in 5 weeks, so needed to do something! Grin

Feeling good this morning - the only thing I'm not sure about is that I've eaten breakfast but wasn't hugely hungry - but I have to eat early to get to work and if I don't eat breakfast there's no way I'd make it through the morning. So I suppose I have to see that as having to stock up first thing to get me to lunch time, even though I'm rarely feeling hungry at 7.30am?

TheOriginalFAB · 10/05/2011 08:18

Morning everyone Smile.

My tummy looked less fat this morning though it could be as I am coming to the end of my period so maybe I have not lost weight at all!

I have been up an hour and half and only now feeling hungry so I will have a banana before taking the kids to school. Having a quiet day at home once I have been to the shop for fruit and vegetables. having sausage and mash for dinner, yum.

BsshBossh · 10/05/2011 09:24

Morning!

SilveryMoon, I'm not doing the Shred. I'm focussing on controlling my eating habits first and am also power-walking 2 or 3 times a week but that's it. I do have the DVD though and will give it a try in a month or so. I've heard it's incredibly gruelling!

DottyDot, I always eat breakfast early when not particularly hungry as it sees me through to 1 or even 2pm without needing to eat anything (so I can work straight through) but I know ppeatfruit will be on soon to advise, quite rightly, that it's best not to eat but take dried fruit/nuts in bag/pocket that you can dip into when you do get hungry Grin.

I had a rubbish afternoon yesterday: I ate a good breakfast and wasn't hungry until 1.30pm when I ate my lunch (leftovers from the previous night's dinner) and stopped when satisfied. But then I got the late afternoon munchies and over-did it a bit on the Bombay mix Blush and the grapes (again!) even though I wasn't hungry for the snack. Consequently I could only eat a tiny portion of the lovely dinner DH prepared for us both after he got home at 9pm from a hectic day at work!

I need to remind myself that I only need to eat a tiny bit to take the edge off hunger so that I can be hungry enough to eat a proper, delicious dinner!

I resolve to do this today (especially as I am making curry tonight and want to be hungry to eat it!).

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/05/2011 09:25

Morning!

I haven't found time to listen to the CD for a few days now, I don't like to do it when I'm in the house on my own with the boys as it really does conk me out! Going to re-read some parts of the book today though as I've only read through it once.

I'm planning to start shredding in a few weeks. Need to give my section scar a bit more time before I start though, and get a bit fitter because I would die trying to do it now. I did it for 3 weeks before I found out I was expecting DS2, and it was fab - I could feel myself getting stronger every day which was an amazing feeling.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:40

Hello all!!! just back from my weigh in...Grin

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 10/05/2011 10:43

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:44

Thank you MN for getting PMK on to chat with us.

Celestialstarlight · 10/05/2011 10:46

Hello to everyone and a big Hi to all the new Paulers.

Ok people. I need a huge kick up the bum please. I have been awol for too long now and have quickly lost the four basic principles of Pauling. Last night I realised that my dinner was off the plate and into my stomach before I had even tasted it! Not good and I have definately put on more weight . I think I need to start from the beginning again and I need to keep listening to the CD's. I think forgetting or not making the time to listen is being my downfall. So last night I put a few of them on my ipod which means there is now no excuse for not listening.

I have definately been snacking when I haven't been hungry and eating sugar loaded crap to extreme which means that I haven't been hungry for proper meals. Things have been a bit rubbish here at the moment with extra added stress thrown in for good measure but I can't hide behind excuses. I've only been away for about a week...but what a difference a week makes. Not just a cliche. It's true!

Sorry I haven't read the whole thread but hope everyone is doing well Smile

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:46

Oh! yes DingDong, another 2lbs off which I'm annoyed about because had I not got the munchies over two days, it'd have been 5lbs Hmm

Celestialstarlight · 10/05/2011 10:50

Well done Solo on your smiley weight loss Smile

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:52

Celestial, don't worry, just start over. You'll be back on track before you know it!

I felt all Aunt Flowish which is why I went stupid with chocolate and coconut sponge...AF has not arrived, but I did get a huge hot flush this morning, so I do think it's hormonal right now.

Sunday I just could not eat all my dinner though I did push some of the nicer bits down my throat but then I couldn't eat all of it, so I left it!!!
Last night I had a maller portion of spag bol and left a tiny mouthful on the plate which after all the crap I'd eaten really didn't make a difference I'm sure Hmm.
Onwards and upwards!

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:53

Thanks Celestial :) you'll be doing it soon too ya' know!

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 10:54

Oh and that was fruit and nut chocolate. Then, coconut sponge. Not chocolate and coconut sponge
