Celestial I have only just started this but found that, if it is really hard to concentrate on what you are eating (dinner time with all the DCs anyone?) serve yourself a tiny portion. That way, when you finish you can sit for a while and decide whether you are still hungry, giving your body time to process what it has eaten. I have at least one meal a day eaten with distractions, sometimes all of them, so I eat a small amount knowing I can go back for more, which I rarely do.

The only thing that stopped me snacking was no junk in the house. I feel now like I could hve it around and not let it control me, but definitely needed a kick start. Loads of us have in the past dealt with stress by eating, come on here and moan instead, it might distract you enough!

Do listen to the cds if you find them helpful, I do and then fond I am not hungry for a while afterwards. Good luck!

Celestialstarlight · 10/05/2011 11:09

Thank you Solo and Dingdong It's amazing how qickly bad habits resurface when we are not mindful. You are absolutely right dingdong re the distraction thing. For this to work we need to be fully concious of every chew, every flavour and texture so when we are distracted that pretty much goes out the window doesn't it?

I am doing the smaller portions and I do think that I am eating less at mealtimes that I previously did so I'm feeling fuller much more quickly but this isn't stopping me and I end up mindfully overeating.

So the plan today is to serve myself even smaller portions and be mindful of every mouthful. Upwards and onwards Smile

PositiveAttitude · 10/05/2011 11:20

Well done Solo Grin

Yesterday I had listened to the CD first thing in the morning and it really seemed to make a difference. Today, I didnt have time and am finding it harder. Must learn from that and get up early enough to listen again!

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 11:41

I'm just talking to my Mum on the phone and she's making all the excuses under the sun.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 11:41

Thanks PA :)

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 11:41

Hello all - just checking in.

Hooray for Solo. Can we have another name change to *SoloIsAHotCougar".

Doing OK here. Don't know if I've lost anything, as I've been trying really hard to stay away from the scales, which I generally find hard, but my thighs and my face feel a bit thinner, even if the belly is still very wobbly. Grin

Not much to add really, just saying hello.

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 11:42

Ate loads of Juicy Olives yesterday oddly.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 10/05/2011 11:42

Blush Olive!!!

Good for you too! :)

SoloIsAHotCougar · 10/05/2011 11:45

SoloIsAHotCougar · 10/05/2011 11:45

Got to go pick up Dd from nursery now. Catch you all later :)

Celestialstarlight · 10/05/2011 11:46

Solo I love it! Suits ya Grin

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 11:48

Sorry that came over a bit weird didn't it! I just ate a load of olives (slowly and consciously of course) and they were tasty and juicy and it reminded me of my PM thread name!

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 12:25

Actually that last post made me think about all the lovely foods I'm enjoying that I wouldn't normally eat on a "diet" because they are labelled as high calorie.

I love being able to eat:

Olives
Avocados
Mozzarrella (full fat not the diet shite)
Hummous
Butter
Lindt 70% dark choc (only need 1 or 2 squares)
Pate (Sorry don't know how to do accents on this keyboard)
Indian takeaways
Steak and chips of a Saturday night
Roast potatoes
Carrot cake

All in moderation of course, PLUS naturally eating lots of "healthy" stuff like fruit and veg.

Try listing that lot on a WW or SW thread and wait for the flaming.

Anybody else really enjoying certain previously forbidden foods?

GreenToes · 10/05/2011 12:47

I'm enjoying some of those things from your list JuicyOlive. Also:

baguette, bagels, white bread, pastry
semi-skimmed milk instead of skimmed
properly cooked pasta (the GL diet I was on advised eating it slightly undercooked...can't believe I actually did that SadBlush)
olive oil for cooking or even Shock butter, instead of fry light

I tried the exercises from this Flat Tummy plan yesterday and felt like it was working so I'm going to try and do that every day (I know it's Daily Mail but it's an extract from a book).

BsshBossh · 10/05/2011 13:12

JuicyOlive, everything on your list plus:

  • Homemade or artisan cakes (full of butter, eaten slowly - divine!)
  • Italian olive oil breads
  • Crusty bread dipped in olive oil or smeared with good quality butter
  • Creamy, full fat ice cream
  • Creamy, full fat yoghurt
  • Bacon (alone or as part of a full English)
Oh, look at the time.

MissVerinder · 10/05/2011 13:14

Soooooo behind all the posts, but back on PMing it :) listened to all the CD's, downloaded them in a playlist on my phone to listen to when I'm nodding off. Feeling amazing again, really happy and in control.

Hi to all the new people and old friends x

JuicyOlive · 10/05/2011 13:20

yy to olive oil and posh breads.

I am sooo queen of the deli now!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 10/05/2011 14:39

Mmmm lovely food lists there!

My own personal list is:
Full fat greek yoghurt (with honey)
A slice of cake with my afternoon cup of tea if I'm hungry
Yorkshire pudding
Cream
Takeaway pizza
Tsatziki
Hummus
Bread of all varieties
Roast lamb with dauphanoise

DottyDot · 10/05/2011 14:42

well I'm just about to make some sesame biscuits - gluten free and haven't done them before so keeping fingers crossed! Grin

TheOriginalFAB · 10/05/2011 15:55

Help!!!!!!!

I am hungry and dinner is 3 hours at least away.

I have had a pear, a satsuma and water for breakfast. Lunch was cod row on 2 pieces of toast. Just had 1 mini animal/choc biscuit and a banana. About to drink water but what is okay to eat if I can't last until 7 as I do need to lose 3 stone.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/05/2011 15:59

If you are hungry EAT Fab. This is how it's SUPPOSED to work. Why are you panicking? :)

GreenToes · 10/05/2011 15:59

TheOriginalFAB if you're definitely hungry and not having a craving then you should eat whatever you want, not what you think is okay, as long as you eat it conciously and stop when you're full.

Niecie · 10/05/2011 16:03

TheoriginalFAB - If you eat a little something now, surely you will still be hungry again in 3 hours anyway and then can have your dinner, albeit a smaller portion.

I agree you have to eat now - better that than staying hungry for another hour and eating something fast and unthinking and probably laden with calories - this is my personal failing. Blush

Niecie · 10/05/2011 16:09

Hotcougar lady - well done on your 2lb. You really have found your weight loss mojo here, haven't you? And you seem a lot happier than you did a few months ago too. Well done, you deserve a decent break. Smile
