New Thread for Lo Carbers/non-carbers, etc

WhereamI · 07/02/2011 16:31

Old lo-carb thread was 'too big' and wouldn't let me post this. It's for a almond meal pancake - I find one is really filling (I have it with total yoghurt and blueberries) and leave the mix in the fridge to have another next day.

Ingredients:
?1 cup almond flour
?2 eggs
?1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
?2 T oil
?1/4 teaspoon salt
?1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.

Very quiet here too, can't believe I'm still in my dessing gown.

Had a lovely night out, lots of wine, but managed to avoid too many carbs by sticking to the cheeseboard (although I have vague memories of a chocolate brownie at some point in the evening).

Need to muster the energy to do lunch for the dcs.....wish me luck.

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2011 12:49

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2011 12:51

Do it, Custy, do it.

Couch 2 5k is brilliant if you're new to it.

Timbachick · 13/03/2011 12:55

Might try the Couch25K myself ... might, mind you Smile.

Doing slow cooked shoulder of lamb today ... mmmmmm. Tons of leftovers as well ... even more mmmmmmmm Smile.

Had some sugar myself last night and feel yuk this morning.

I am hovering around 10 4.5 today which is a great number. Was v good yesterday - bacon and eggs for breakfast, asian smoked salmon salad for lunch, a few pieces of cheese as a snack, then halloumi for starter and mussels for a main when out for dinner. Had a few chips too - but only about 6 or 7. Quite a lot of wine though. When will I learn?

I am currently avoiding doing some work which I brought home. I can't quite face it. Bah.

I hurt from crazy pilates lady pulling me about on Friday night. Ouch!

succumbed to a pitta bread this morning but pulled it back with bacon and eggs. Now thinking what to have for lunch. I have some mousaka flavoured mince in fridge so might have that with some grated cheese on top.

Dinner is beef casserole and broccoli. And an early night.

Tortington · 13/03/2011 13:11

i have to source some trainers - i know i have some.

and i have no jogging bottoms - well i do but they are a size eighteen, so might just cut the waistband and tighten the elastic. don't want to spend a lot of money on anything in case i can't be arsed in a week

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2011 14:44

Custy - I started running wearing an old pair of tennis shoes and some Primark joggers, only upgraded when it got a bit more serious. Get a decent bra to strap 'em down, though.

Tortington · 13/03/2011 16:02

y'know its the dumbest thing, i wondr if anyone else feels this way, but when i am planning a jog or when i used to cycle a lot - i needed a destination. i meed to get somewhere.

i know i have to get over it!

i have jjust googled a cafe i was thinking of and by week 5 i should be jogging there no problem apparently!

also could you explain the app for me.

i have a htc, and im not a technophobe so much as i am just a bit left behind technolocally with phones.

ive had it since xmas, and haven't d/l any apps yet - so is this on app market and is it free?

i ordered an armband holder thingy off ebay was only 2.50 free postage

CointreauVersial · 13/03/2011 22:13

I don't use an iphone app, just load the free podcasts onto DS1's MP3 player and use that.

My running trousers have a weeny pocket in the waistband which just fits the MP3 player and a doorkey.

Ormirian · 14/03/2011 08:03

DOwn by about half a pound this morning Confused

I am getting more motivated to run by you lot but also more miserable - I have no stamina and I keep seeing all the little lanes and footpaths I was running last year and realising I can't get there now. I am well and truly back to square one Sad

FreeButtonBee · 14/03/2011 11:36

Hello all

You are all being very active. I spent the weekend at home - literally all weekend! Furthest I got was 100m away to go for dinner in the local on Sat night; otherwise pottered around the house.

Lowest Monday weigh in! 10 5. Get in. Too much choc yesterday but I don't seem to have done too much damage.

Aim is to see a 3 this week. Am out for dinner on Tuesday night (but I am aiming to be well behaved). Then off on thursday to have a day of pottering about and being nice to myself.

The big danger is going home to Ireland for a long weekend on Friday. The land of spuds and bread... That will be easy (not). I will try to limit carbs to breakfast if possible. My mum makes fabulous wheaten which has loads of oats and flaxseed and nice stuff. If I am going to cheat, it's going to be with that.

CointreauVersial · 14/03/2011 13:17

Wow FBB, doing well!!

I agree with you, Ireland is not the place for low-carbing. PILs live there, and I always come back half a stone heavier with all the stodge. Just get some salads in and try to lay off the Kimberleys and Iced Caramels. Grin

Orm - baby steps! You can get back there. I had some time off from the running just before Christmas - a bad knee, followed by a bout of illness, followed by snow....I just went back to Week 4 or 5 of the Couch to 5K (whatever felt do-able) and took it from there. I didn't have to completely start again, and it didn't take too long to get back to where I was before.

Tortington · 14/03/2011 14:43

well i walked more than ran. i made do with my old huge gym pants and cut two hole and tied with string ribbon Grin

i thought i was going to die.

going to try and do again tomorrow

Tortington · 14/03/2011 14:45

forg ot to add, i am trying out a new recipe.

like a chicken shep pie Hmm

chicken pieces, leek, onion, pepper

chicken stock - only half of though

cook in oven til reduced - mines still cooking!

have made celeriac mash for the first time just celeriac and cheese as somoeone suggested earlier as it is very watery.

and will report back if i puke!
