New Thread for Lo Carbers/non-carbers, etc

WhereamI · 07/02/2011 16:31

Old lo-carb thread was 'too big' and wouldn't let me post this. It's for a almond meal pancake - I find one is really filling (I have it with total yoghurt and blueberries) and leave the mix in the fridge to have another next day.

Ingredients:
?1 cup almond flour
?2 eggs
?1/4 cup water (for puffier pancakes, you can use sparkling water)
?2 T oil
?1/4 teaspoon salt
?1 T sweetener
Preparation:
Mix ingredients together and cook as you would other pancakes. I like to use a nonstick pan with a little oil. The only real difference is that they won't "bubble" on top the same way as regular pancakes. Flip them when the underside is brown.

Yield: Six 4-inch pancakes

Nutritional Information: Each pancake has 1 gram effective carbohydrate, plus 2 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 155 calories.

not so much with the dying today and definatley ran more than walkedd - was about 50/50 ysterday

2lb down this am, i'll give the running a couple of weeks to see if any effect on weightloss.

running gave me a headache - is that usual?

FreeButtonBee · 15/03/2011 13:28

Might be dehydration, custy. Drink a pint of water as soon as you get in.

1/2 lb down today. Work is pissing me off but I am resisting the lure of maltesers.

Ormirian · 15/03/2011 15:46

Found a very nice lowish carb snack today. Sainsbos sell 60g packs of salted roasted almonds. 4.1g per 100g so approx 3g per pack.

Ormirian · 15/03/2011 15:48

Re headache - do you any back, neck or shoulder problems custy? Even just stiffness from sitting at a desk in front of a screen? I do and I find that sometimes running tends to make you tense your shoulders and exacerbates existing problems leading to headaches. Try relazing your shoulders when you run - even stopping from time to time and doing neck and shoulder stretches.

Anyone have any breakfast recommendations for someone who doesn't like nuts and isn't big on dairy (inc eggs?) I'll have a bit of semi skimmed milk, so porridge is ok, but otherwise no. The only things I can think of are bacon and tomatoes, but that's not especially healthy, or porridge. Anything else I've missed? Grateful for any help. Breakfast seems much harder to do low carb for than the other meals of the day, and I like something substantial.

I am back on the low carb wagon. Saw myself in the bathroom and got a shock who is that in the mirror! Today am having fried eggs with a bit of chilli powder for breakfast

FreeButtonBee · 16/03/2011 09:19

Flangalina - What about avocado and a little tomato and red onion? Good fats and pretty filling.

FreeButtonBee · 16/03/2011 09:20

Also I sometimes have a few pieces of smoked salmon with lemon juice and black pepper. Expensive though but nice for a treat and to mix it up a bit.

BecauseImWorthIt · 16/03/2011 09:27

Morning all!

I'm back, having got various baking binges, birthdays and dinner parties out of the way.

Orm - I think we're about the same age - I've been suffering from hot flushes on and off for some time now, and although low carbing does reduce their frequency, even whilst low carbing I was getting them at night so that they were waking me up. Lack of sleep was really getting me down. I am not going down the HRT route, as my mum was on MRT and died from breast cancer, so the link is just too much for me.

I went to Boots and bought some Menolieve tablets. It is like a miracle. I haven't had a hot flush since, and I've been taking them for a month now. It's a one a day tablet, that you have to take at the same time of day each day (a bit like the pill). They're not cheap - £9+ for a packet of 30, or £20+ for a packet of 90, but it's worth every penny as far as I'm concerned.

Well done on the exercise, everyone. I'm contemplating it as well - but haven't got round to anything yet.

FreeButtonBee · 16/03/2011 09:53

Despite curry and beer night last night, I am still 10 4.5.

I was extremely good, people.

I had about 1/2 a poppadom, butter chicken (mainly ate the chicken and left the sauce), some saag, some chana masalla (chickpeas), about 1/4 of a garlic naan and no rice at all.

Had a fair bit of beer but not so much that I am hungover today.

haven't quite got around to breakfast but will get with the programme shortly.
