Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Agree - I think boss will think, if she is well enough for the Christmas do then she was well enough for the office today

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 10/12/2010 11:29

Not sure if this makes a difference but I don't work in an office. I have a very physically demanding job where I am also talking all day. I hardly have a voice. If I worked in an office I def would have gone in today as I have no problem sitting quietly on a computer all day, but that's not my job.

I treat 'heavy' patients all day, take classes where I have to join in and yell encouragement to patients.

My boss won't be at the do either. Obviously she could find out so I need to think carefully. I might text a couple of my friends who are the same grade her and know her and ask what they think.

Thanks for advice though. I appreicate it, even if it's not what I wanted to hear....LOL!!! (Just being honest!!)

NormaSknockers · 10/12/2010 12:12

Hello all, all ready for the weekend?

bluebump don't worry about a small gain, just keep on track this weel, stay focused and I'm sure by nxt week you'll have lost that and then some Xmas Smile

androbb I'm doing ok thank you for asking Xmas Grin I've been suffering with my IBS for a good few days and it's wiping me out but I'm managing to eat what I fancy and still stick to my points so I'm pleased with that. I haven't used my weekly points yet but I will be tonight and tomorrow as we're having a KFC tonight then I'm taking DD and my sisters to the cinema tomorrow so I have pre bought my popcorn and treats. I've weighed out my popcorn and bagged it up so that I can just relax and munch without worrying how many points it all is Xmas Grin

hmc well done on another brilliant loss! Try not to let yourself run away with the meals, fill yourself up 0 pointed food before hand if need be like a home made soup or some veggie sticks just to take the edge off your hunger. If you aim to maintain your weight over Christmas I think that's a very sensible option Xmas Grin

boodle we all have bad weeks, we all have times where it gets away from us and we just can't seem to get control. Think about your loss so far, think about that great feeling you get when you see the weight has come off, focus on where you want to be in four weeks time. Right off the oast few days, you can't do anything about it now but start making good choices from now on - if you feel yourself reaching for the biscuit tin for example make a choice to only have 2 biscuits but to really enjoy them. Sit down with a cuppa and really think about what you're eating, really take your time and enjoy them. Do that with all your food if you need to then you'll find yourself getting back on track Xmas Smile

wynken I'm a little confused, are you following SW or PP? If you want to follow PP I really would suggest you go to a WW meeting because following PP and going to a SW meeting isn't going to offer you the support you need. You're not eating enough points either, the minimum you should be having is 29 a day, if you don't eat the correct amount of points you're not going to lose the weight.

Lucky is your boss someone you can approach? If she is I would go direct to her and explain and see what she says, she may have no issue with it at all but I agree with the others in that I couldn't go off sick from work then go to the works do - it could be taken the wrong way. I hope you sort something out though, would be a shame to lose that money Xmas Sad

So then ladies, how are we set for the weekend? Any plans to go out? Have you planned your meals or just taking it a day at a time? Xmas Grin

vnmum · 10/12/2010 12:25

i have my function tonight, so i have already tracked what i estimate the meal will be on the online tracker and will add in alcohol when i know what i have drunk as i don't know how much i will be drinking. I still have 40 weekly points left so i should be ok on the alcohol front. I have also decided that i will only have my mince pie and not eat DH's so i feel in control rather than just eating them for the sake of it.

I will have to see how much dancing i do aswell but that will depend on how my feet hold up in my shoes, lol

hmc · 10/12/2010 12:35

Norma - mightily impressed at your pre-weighed and propointed popcorn portion, forward planning at its finest!

Have a good time tonight vnmum

WeWish - I think Norma's suggestion is a good one. Perhaps speak to your boss and guage her reaction. From the description of your work I can see why you couldn't go in today but might feel able to go tonight. Hope you sort it out

Sorry, I don't mean Wynken isn't going to lose weight at all, more that she may not lose it at a steady pace. Under eating points can, in some instances, cause your body to start storing fat if it thinks it's being starved so it can cause weight loss to slow down. If you're eating your weekly points then it's balancing out your daily points if you're not using them all every day.

I do however think that if Wynken wants to follow the PP it would be better to attend WW meetings as opposed to SW meetings as mixing to plans isn't really ideal.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/12/2010 14:45

Huge apologies, I am causing confusion!

I joined SW in July and lost 2 stone following it. I gor really fed up a couple of weeks ago as was starting to feel limited with what I was eating and felt there was a risk I might go into sod it mode and blow it over Christmas. So I joined a WW class on a monthly pass and went twice. Was all set to go on Wednesday when DH found the cat had died so rang and left message that couldn't go. Went yesterday to my SW class which is paid for up to Christmas and had WI there instead. A few of my friends go to the SW class and I've met some lovely people there and feel really supported so don't want to give up that support if that makes sense. Even though they are talking SW plan, I find it helpful, whereas the WW is good as talking propoints, but I don't feel I have the level of support there that I get at the SW group.

So my plan was to cancel the monthly pass and go onto Esource which I find fab on my phone and then go to the SW meetings for my WI. Although they talk syns a lot of what the leader says applies to any healthy eating plan and it is still helpful if that makes sense.

I'm on 34 daily points and eat them all. I've had about 23 of my weekly pot of points both weeks but none of my exercise points and have lost doing this. As I've had 20 weeks of weightloss to look back over, a pattern has emerged where I consistently sts or gain one week out of 4, which will be at my weigh in next week.

Reading what you are all doing it seems it would be an idea to eat all daily and weekly but not exercise points. WW's leader said I could eat the weekly ones if I wanted to which is why I ate about half of them as a compromise but am going to try to eat more of them and see what happens.

Thank you all for your patience and sorry to be confusing!

NormaSknockers · 10/12/2010 16:02

Ah I see sorry Wynken that makes sense now Xmas Grin So when you were talking about eating 23 you meant your weekly points? It certainly sounds like you've taken to the plan well & yes I think the majority, me included, earn exercise points but don't use them. You can use them though if you wish too of course Xmas Smile

I see what you mean about the support you're getting from your SW meetings, you're comfortable there & with friends but what if you find
yourself needing to ask questions or needing some information about
the PP plan? Or is it more the weigh in support you need if that makes sense? The other thing is you do get some handy hand outs each week at the class too, obviously it's absolutely your choice Xmas Grin

Do you suspect you may have gained/stayed the same this week? Is there anything you've done differently to last week? The only things I can suggest to you to try & get that 3.5lb loss before Christmas is to keep on doing what you're doing, maybe increase your exercise a little if that's doable? It sounds like you're following the plan well & if you keep on doing what you're doing there's no reason why you shouldn't lose that weight before Christmas Xmas Grin

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 10/12/2010 19:26

update: I felt better this afternoon so went into work for 2 hours and did some admin. Saw my boss who casually said as she left..'have fun tonight Lucky'..(she's not going).

So I am sat in my jeans waiting for my lift Grin. Happy that I can go without a guilty conscience!!

NormaSknockers · 10/12/2010 19:30

Hoorah Xmas Grin Have a fab time Lucky Xmas Grin

Littlefish · 10/12/2010 19:41

I've now lost 20.5lbs over the last 9 (or possibly 10) weeks. I was really hoping to lose 2stone by Christmas, but that's not going to happen now.

I had a terrible day yesterday. I got home from work and the heating had broken. I was absolutely frozen, and just wanted to eat. I tried really hard to avoid the kitchen, and ended up making a pickled onion sandwich to try and kill my tastebuds! It nearly worked, although I had a couple of mini finger of fudge as well Blush.

I'm being weighed by my GP either next week or the week after, and she is really fierce! I've lost about 5.5lbs since I saw her last month, so as long as I don't put anything on, it should be ok.

Furball - how are you doing?

Oh my God - HELP. Have just eaten a WHOLE chocolate orange!!! Have been so good but had a major pre-menstrual craving and could not stop thinking about the offending choc orange stashed away with the Xmas goodies.

I've only got a few weekly allowance points left. If I exercise a lot over the next few days (WI on Tues) and cut back a bit, will I have a hope of limiting the damage?

Why did I go and do that - I so want to shed 5lbs more by Xmas........

NormaSknockers · 10/12/2010 20:35

muffin don't panic, you slipped up, it happens we all do it. Write it off, don't beat yourself up over is as guilt won't change it. You're only human we all need that stash of chocolate now & again Xmas Grin up your exercise a little but don't go mad & push yourself too much, do you like soups? If so how about some 0 point soups to help fill you up on, roasted veggies too, just stay on track from now on & fill up on 0 & low pointed foods. Stop beating yourself up as of now, let it go & carry on Xmas Grin

Littlefish · 10/12/2010 20:49

I've just eaten another pickled onion sandwich. Damn you Sainsbury's delivery man for being late with my delivery (including my supper). Grrrrrrrr

muffinchops · 10/12/2010 21:01

Thank you so much for your encouraging words Norma. Will do.

androbbob · 10/12/2010 21:11

muffinchops - been there and done that - 24 PP for a sodding Choc orange! That is nearly a whole days worth! Put it behind you and get back on the waggon tomorrow!

Lucky - that was a stroke of luck and hope your doo was good!

I am struggling at the moment - think it is because it is That Time of The Month but I am picking at rubbish! I need to get back on track and point carefully over the next four days to weigh in - my tracker will be in my jeans pocket over the weekend! Not sure why being like this as I would like to lose at least 1lb this week and 2lb next week, so why am I sabotaging myself? Norma any words of wisdom>??

Hope all have a good weekend - off to wrap pressies in peace Xmas Grin

muffinchops · 10/12/2010 22:00

Thanks androbbob.

I heartily sympathise with you. I too am getting major carb cravings etc and after a great loss at the beginning of the week I was full of gritty determination to get 5lbs off by xmas to get me to a stone, so indeed, why the sabotage?

I think to make the difference you have to refocus the next day and move on. Before, my choc orange fest would have led to a full on binge especially being the weekend etc and I would have given up, but now I realise that I am human and just need to compensate and carry on. Still cheesed off though.

Bloody annoying isn't it?

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 11/12/2010 00:09

I always get mega cravings when I am on or due on. I could eat a dead horse between 2 matresses, as my Grandad used to say!!!

Just back from my night out. Was really good. Best ego-boost ever and really motivated me to keep going to get to my goal. Some people said I looked so different they almost didn't recognise me Hmm.....
Had lots of lovely compliments and made me feel that all the hard work was so worth it.

The meal wasn't too bad either, mushroom (but not cream of mushroom) soup.
Roast turkey, I had 1 potato and then lots of veg. Pudding was a torte thingy which was actually not that nice so I left half of it.
(Not worth the points!).

Tomorrow MIL is having my girls over night as DH and I are off to see Faithless Grin. Another meal out, probably pizza express again as they seem to be the healthiest point wise?

Hope you all had a nic evening. Don't fret about chocolate oranges, we all do it from time to time. As Norma said, just get back on your horse!!

Night all XXXX

NormaSknockers · 11/12/2010 07:09

Good morning, just put the kettle on so I'll slightly more awake soon Xmas Grin

muffin how are you feeling this morning? ready to start another day with renewed PMA? The fact that you didn't binge after having the chocolate orange is a massive step already, it can be so hard to stop once you get going so think how far you have come to have not turned into a full blown binge fest! Time was I would have done the same thing!

androbb it's perfectly normal to be like that, I am doing the same thing as I'm due on in about 2 days! What are the kinds of things you find yourself picking at? Are they things you can easily point? Try not to deny yourself anything otherwise you'll want it more, track what you're eating and then work around it whether that's by running up and down the stairs a few times or having some roasted vegetable wraps for dinner to keep the points value low. Four days is plenty of time to keep on track and still get a loss, if there's something you really fancy could you plan it in for tomorrow? Plan what you want, work out the points then work around that with your food for the rest of the day?

So pleased you had a lovely time Lucky and gab about the compliments too Xmas Grin Big well done on being sensible with your meal too, fab step forward!! I think if you're careful most take aways can be ok points wise tbh, it's just a bit of planning to find what will work best and still be enjoyable Xmas Grin

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 11/12/2010 08:07

Thank you Norma. I think the meetings for me are about the actual weigh in and support more than the plan and there's a lot of helpful stuff on the forums which hopefully will help if I get stuck .

I'm sort of hoping that maybe I will actually lose next Thursday doing WW, all my previous times were SW so hopefully my body might react differently on PP. But if it doesn't then so be it and I just need to stay focused and try to up the exercise so I nail the 3.5lbs the week after. That's the 23rd December so a bit of a challenge but I'm up for that and with PP flexibility, think I can do it. I love the concept of the 49 weekly pot, makes a big different to my confidence that I can stick to it. Thank you again for your help.

gingernutlover · 11/12/2010 08:11

morning norma and everyone else Smile hope you're all doing okay, I have been much better this week, back on track, tracking everything and meal plannign again, fingers corssed it shows on the scales next tuesday.

We are having pizza tonight, all pointed from my 49 points and have planned meals for the rest of the weekend.

Am due to go to a posh buffet next friday as it is our works party - dont think I will be able to accurately point it to be honest so will just have light lunch and try to stay away from anything with pastry and bread - would sticking to meats, salad etc be the best thing? Not even sure if it's a hot or cold buffet actually, although its £30 a head so we are all hoping it will be impressive LOL.

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 11/12/2010 08:13

Thank you Norma. It's the WI and support that I find keeps me on track. There's a lot of info on the forums and I have E source so hopefully that will be OK. I'll have to rethink if I struggle though.

I'm kind of hoping that there's a chance I do lose this weight, a half pound would be good. But if I don't I an used to my funny week as I think of it and know that if I keep on plan and try to boost the exercise I am capable of losing that 3.5lbs by 23rd December. Even if I don't I should manage 2lbs which will take me to 33.5lbs, a third of the total I have to lose. I'll be delighted with that. Thank you again for your help, much appreciated.

muffinchops · 11/12/2010 10:41

Morning all and thanks for checking up Norma (what a wonderfully supportive thread this is). I am ready to be back on track today. I pointed the choc orange disaster (previously I would have 'forgotten' it) and unfortunately I now stand at -20 points having used up everything (oops) so will try and do a lot of filling but low pointed stuff this weekend. Will see what WI on Tues brings!

Also fessed up to DH (I had got it in for him) as before would have just replaced it! having done it, I know it's just not worth it and a few segments could have given me the fix without going all out.

Lucky - it's wonderful where you have got to. Very inspirational indeed Must have been great showing off the new you to everyone. Well done. Very envious about Faithless too - have a fab time.

Have a good weekend everyone. Bon courage!
