Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

When I was ill last night, I suddenly realised that I haven't had a bad IBS flare-up since I started on WW. It must, therefore, be related to high fat foods as those are the ones that I've cut out of my every-day eating.

At least I know how to avoid flare-ups in the future!

Androbob - veg soup sounds like a great idea!

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 27/12/2010 09:26

Popping in to wish you all a belated Happy Christmas and so I can rave about how much I love PPs!

I absolutely over indulged on Christmas day and managed to eat 103pp. Cam completely identify with the not feeling well after eating rich food thing, my gallbladder played up all day yesterday in an understandable protest.

Yesterday I had 12 of my 34 points left as was totally stuffed after Christmas Day, but seeing as I was 33 over my weekly points, I figured that didn't matter. Have been using Kinect to burn off a few calories as well. Decided to face the scales this morning and have lost a pound, how delighted am I and I know if I hadn't have done PP, I would have put on. Thank you WW for coming up with a plan that let's me eat 4 mince pies and half a Christmas pudding and still lose weight!

boodleboot · 27/12/2010 17:35

oooohhhh i feel awful....have eaten off piste since last wed only just getting back on track today.....i feel absolutely terrible. Scales show that i have put on two i think (mechanical scales hard to be precise).....my WI is not til a week sat so plenty of time to get back in to the swing, lose these two i've gained and hopefully lose a bit before then.

Also the Shred dvd turned up in my christmas stocking so looking forward to starting that!!! My friend got it too so we going to start Jan 1st together.

i really echo what u lot have said about not enjoying all the rich food tho as much as i was expecting....definitely feel like lifestyle changes are being made here and am itching to get to buggyfit tomorr....also got new gym gear for xmas which is not something that would have been top of my list last christmas....roll on a happy PP year!!

NormaSknockers · 27/12/2010 19:20

Hello everybody,

Have you all had a wonderful Christmas? Xmas Grin

Lucky2010 · 27/12/2010 19:52

Boodleboot You are not alone. I fell off the wagon since last Tuesday too. I'm not stressing about it as it was Christmas afterall. According to my digital scales I have gained 5lbs. I'm really not worried, as I always gain a few lbs over Christmas and usually lose it within 1-2 weeks. I find that a lot of it is fluid from all the carby food. I think you've done well to only gain 2lbs, you'll probably lose it easily within a week.

I'm tracking again today. I have had a few naughties but have pointed everything and used some weekly bonus pps.

Got my sis and BIL here today. They'll be having cheese and biscuits, I won't!!!

androbbob · 27/12/2010 20:50

wynken - I am impressed with your pointing for Christmas Day! It sounds alot but isn't when you add in your weekly 49 points to your daily allowance! Keep up the good work!

I have a class to go to tomorrow if I feel like it - the other option is to leave it for a week and then have my normal WI. I am in two minds what to do - will see what the weather is like tomorrow! The snow seems to be thawing now as it is raining.

Hello to everyone else who has popped in!

NormaSknockers · 28/12/2010 08:38

Good Morning all Xmas Grin

How is everyone doing today? Are you all back on/staying on track or will you be indulging for NYD?

Boodle you are not alone, all my plans of being good went out the window and have been off track since Christmas Eve Xmas Blush I got back on track yesterday though so hoping I can at least undo the damage and STS at weigh in next year Xmas Wink

My leader said in the last 7 years she has only ever lost once. It just goes to show that we're all human, we all fall off the wagon and over indulge from time to time and we all have a gain from time to time too - it's ok to have a gain now and again it's just part of the journey Xmas Smile

Has anyone tried out any new recipes? My leader didn't have the Your Week at the last meeting so not sure if there was anything good in that one to try?

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 28/12/2010 09:33

I think going off plan then getting back on again is really good practice for when we are at target. My DH is naturally thin (until this year when he had to lose 10lbs for the first time ever now he hit 40).Watching him over the years he eats a lot over Christmas then naturally pulls himself back, so I think coming off and getting back on is just the behaviour of a naturally slim person. It's just there is a temptation to think you've been bad when as Norma said, you're just being human.

Thank you Androbbob, don't be impressed , I just wanted to see glutinious I had actually been on Christmas day !

MadameG · 28/12/2010 10:03

Hey all, I'm going to join in. I started the PPs system 7 weeks ago and have lost 15lb so far!!! I'm really chuffed.

I had my first baby in September and wanted to drop a couple of stone afterwards but am way too knackered by looking after ds for exercise, so this WW plan is v good for me. I still get to eat my favourite things (although things like fajitas are once a week, and sweet things can be most days, as a meringue nest is only 1 propoint!). It's teaching me to eat smaller portions (and I'm still just as full) and I feel much better after eating lots of veg etc than eating crap.

I went 4 points over my weekly PP allowance during Xmas week but it could have been a lot worse. And I still lost 1lb! Could do without so much chocolate still being in the house tho Hmm.

My stats:

Height- 5'4
Starting weight- 11st 7lb
Weight now- 10st 6lb
Goal weight- 9 st
PP allowed a day- 29 plus 49 weekly points

There are some fab recipes on the WW website at the mo- I've been making their butternut squash risotto loads, and its only 8 propoints a portion- however I sometimes stick in another 2 tablespoons of parmesan or a wee bit more rice, but that only makes it 10 or 11 propoints which is still great. Or you can chuck in tons more veg to bulk it out, and vegetables are generally only 0 or 1 PP each.

Lucky2010 · 28/12/2010 10:20

Welcome MadameG. You're doing very well if your first baby is only a few months old. My DD1 is 4.5 yrs and I am have only just lost my baby weight....LOL!!

I've lost 2lbs already since Sunday Grin.
Quietly confident I can get back to where I was by the end of the week if I keep tracking. Going swimming today.

Keep going gals!!!

Lucky2010 · 28/12/2010 10:21

madameG can you link us into the BSquash risotto recipe? I do a WW BSq risotto (lovely) and just wondering if it's the same one. Mine is from a WW cookbook from 10 yrs+ ago.

androbbob · 28/12/2010 12:43

Wll I braved the slush out there and took the kids to the WI! Not my usual class but the same leader and I am pleased to report a 1lb loss! I am happy with that - it brings my total to 10lbs now and my 5% (will have to remind her about that next week!). Getting back on track now - not too worried about NYE as we are not big drinkers and DH is working on 1st Jan so I usually take kids out for a walk in the local pinewoods by the beach before crashing at my Mums for a couple of hours!

Not much else to report - hope all are getting back on track - STS is ok for Christmas and just think we are a whole lot better (smaller and lighter) than last christmas, and the one before probably! Just think - next Christmas we will be all at Goal!!

Littlefish · 28/12/2010 13:33

Fantastic news about your 1lb loss androbbob. Well done. Smile

I'm contemplating trying to find a class tomorrow, although it will be different scales.

NormaSknockers · 28/12/2010 13:40

Afternoon all,

Wynken it's hard when you other half is naturally thin isn't it? My DH is very thin (think David Tennant) and it doesn't matter what he eats he stays the same Xmas Envy He's very supportive though which is a help!

Welcome MadameG and well done on your execellent loss so far! This thread is fantastic for support so you're in good company Xmas Grin

androbb that's fantastic well done you! Well done on getting to your WI too, good motivation to stay on track knowing you've lost isn't it?

I've decided to start running again, I did the couch-to-5K plan at the beginning of this year and ran the race for life in May but stopped after that. Decided it's time to get my running shoes back out again, even bought a nifty a little arm band to hold my iPhone Xmas Grin Oh the things I get excited over these days....

Soooooo as we're heading into a new year I thought I would offer a little something to keep us all motivated? I'm not sure who has what weight to go 'til their goal but I think the majority of us have have a little way to go? So the first person on the thread to lose 1 stone from today will recieve a little something from me in the post as a well done and extra motivation (so long as you're happy to let me know your address?) What do you think? Xmas Grin androbb I'll need your spreadsheet skills to help me keep track of who's lost what if you're ok to help with that?

MadameG · 28/12/2010 14:18

Butternut Squash Risotto link:

www.weightwatchers.co.uk/util/prt/recipe.aspx?Type=1&RecipeID=7011062

It tastes creamier with 2 extra tablespoons of parmesan thrown in, which makes it 9 pro points a portion.

Well done on the weight loss, Lucky and Androbbob!

androbbob · 28/12/2010 14:21

norma - indeed I will keep the spreadsheet up - I was planning to renew it anyway so I will tot up the weight lost to date and then reset the counters so to speak!

Watching Toy Story with DS at the moment!

Littlefish · 28/12/2010 14:28

Ooooh Norma! A little incentive. Just what I like. (Not that I'm competitive or anything, you understand Wink).

NormaSknockers · 28/12/2010 14:32

Thank you muchly androbb knew I could count on you Xmas Grin

Thought it might help to keep us all on track littlefish to have an added incentive Xmas Wink

I have just built a tent for the DC using the dining table and every spare sheet we have...they then sodded off upstairs Xmas Hmm

vnmum · 28/12/2010 15:37

Hi everyone,

well done on the loss androbbob and also lucky for the loss so far.

I did a sneak peak the other day and had stayed the same. I didn't get completely back on track yesterday as still had choccie in the house that i had to eat first but today i have tracked fully. i know i have gone quite a few over my weekly but i will just see what thursday brings for my WI at home.

Norma that incentive idea is great.

We bought a kinect yesterday and have bought the sports game and dance central today so i am hoping i will be able to squeeze in some exercise without even realising it. My arms are already achey and stiff from doing the boxing with DS Xmas Grin. I am planning on getting the biggest loser game for it too as it is only £12.99 on play.com at the moment.

Welcome madameG and well done on your loss so far on pro points.

New year is not anything special for us. I don't really drink and we just stay in as if it was a normal night as DC's are too young to take anywhere and don't know anyone to babysit so we will probably have a kinect games night

androbbob we went to the pinewoods last year, it was very fresh shall we say but good to get out and blow the cobwebs away

Lucky2010 · 28/12/2010 19:08

Norma that is a great incentive. I don't plan on competing as it would mean I would have to get to 9 stone and I love my curves, so once I hit goal at 9st 12lbs I'm stopping and maintaining!! Good luck to the rest of you though!!!

Thanks MadameG, it is different to mine so I will def try it. Is it 8 pro-points? That's very good!!

Did 50 lengths earlier Grin. I've stayed on track all day, even took a can of soup to lunch at a friends (kids play date thing). She had thick sliced fresh bread with cheese and McCoys crisps, so as lovely as it looked, I was glad I had taken my 6pp soup!!

Loving being back on track already!!

Lucky2010 · 28/12/2010 19:08

P.S. New year not a big thing for us. DH working til 7pm NYE. We'll have a nice (healthy) meal and some wine but won't be a big deal pps wise. Just nice to spend some time together on our own!

NormaSknockers · 28/12/2010 19:33

Love the look of the kinect vnmum certaily more user friendly then the Wii I think - sounds like you have some fab games for exercise too Xmas Grin

Maybe we should have 2 goals then? The first person to lose 7lbs from today & the first to lose 1 stone from today? That way everyone gets to take part Xmas Grin

I'm the same Lucky NYE has never really excited me, I'm in bed by 10 usually Xmas Grin Just not my cup of tea & DH is on an early shift NYD anywho. I'll have a hot chocolate and a few biccies Xmas Wink

QueenandKingMum · 28/12/2010 21:19

Can I join in? Been doing the new plan, but shocking amount gained over Christmas!

Day 1 back to it, but still starving :(

Littlefish · 28/12/2010 21:29

Ooooooops. Just eated a Chinese takeaway.

Littlefish · 28/12/2010 21:29
