Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Aww thank you Xmas Grin Don't worry about your points right now, just concentrate on getting well, just make sure you keep yourself hydrated!

thighsmadeofcheddar · 08/12/2010 16:10

Hello all,

sorry have been absent for a while. Been busy in the run up to xmas. Weighed in today and put on 1/2 pound. Not too bad considering the massive binge on Sunday. I've been shredding every day and actually feel my clothes are looser even if the scales don't show it. My DH says so too, so it's strange. I'm really not going to do well in the next month, sigh. Massive all day party on Saturday which will be a wine-athon.

I have to go out tonight, just to pizza express with a couple of girlfriends. Just looked online for them and they don't give calorie breakdown. Is there a cheat sheet somewhere?

I've had about 12 points today - what do you think?

NormaSknockers · 08/12/2010 17:31

Hello thighs good to see you! Don't worry about the gain it happens to all of us, you probably have lost inches despite gaining a little as exercise means you're toning and slimming down in a different way so well done you Xmas Smile

One of the best options for P.E is a margherita with veggies, it's 14 points for half a large or 15 for an entire small.

Does the all day party on Saturday mean you have to drink all day? Could you have a glass of wine then have a few soft drinks, then a glass of wine and so on? So don't deny yourself a drink but don't spend all day drinking and eating? Think of how hard you've worked over the past few weeks, think how seeing the weight come off has made you feel and focus on that feeling of 'yes, I did it' each time you weigh and see a loss and use that as motivation to stay on track on Sturday Xmas Smile

thighsmadeofcheddar · 08/12/2010 18:52

Oh Norma, you lovely thing. Thank you.
Yes I can restrain myself on Saturday, I deserve too. I will take a bottle of diet coke and alternate. I just really love the social side of December and seeing long time friends and their families. But I feel good about my weight/health and will not waste this feeling binge eating or drinking.

Thanks for the PE tip, I'll have a margarita with extra veg.

androbbob · 08/12/2010 21:05

Welcome back lucky - glad you survived the trip! If you are not feeling well I would go easy on the exercise - it can bring on symptoms quicker than not doing anything. Hope the throat is ok.

Inlove - happy birthday for yesterday - hope you enjoyed your day. Great loss and yes we are still tracking - we have lost nearly 7 stones in the previous three weeks Xmas Grin

yay to gingernut -5% club member! Norma is in charge of awards!

welcome to berk and muffin - we'll make room on the sofa for you!

thighs its probably a water retneion thing - half a pound is nothing! That will be off by next week for sure!

As for me - well another 2lbs off this week - 9 in total and need 1 more for my 5% Xmas Grin. I wouldnt say this is easy but is working better than I would ever have hoped! I have just made Furball's minestrone soup for tomorrow - hope its good!

norma - I agree with lucky - you are an inspirational / motivation to us all! Keep at it and we will get there!

Thanks for the welcome, signing up tonight to get a head around it before starting properly! Scales are saying a shocking thing Grin as I thought, a bit more flexible than sw- not all baked potatoes for lunch!!

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 09/12/2010 09:02

Morning. I feel much better today, not hurting and wincing when I swallow! I made the mistake of going out last night for the meal. I know I know!!! I had organised the while thing, it was a Christmas meal for all the school mums and also the 40th of one of my closest friends. I had made her a cake, got balloons etc for the table, so I really didn't want to miss it. I dosed myself up with strong painkillers and actually didn't feel too bad while I was out.
However, when I got home I felt so rough, kept going dizzy and felt really sick. I def overdid it and shouldn't have gone Blush. I ended up throwing up all 3 courses (sorry, hope you are not reading while eating Blush).
It certainly taught me a lesson!! I can't deny that despite feeling ropey, I did feel amazing in my size 10 jeans though Grin.

Off work today.

I think we are all doing very well at this challenging time of year, still good weight losses being reported. Well done all!!

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 09/12/2010 11:01

Well done everyone on your loses.

Im expecting a loss on monday I think lol I ended up in A&E at 4:30am wednesday morning (yeah! Great end to my birthday lol) and I havent been able to keep anything down since apart from 2 strawberry split ice lollies! Feeling VERY rough! But I think thats the meds ive been put on. Happy days!

androbbob 7 stone? Wow we are awesome! And to think 8lb of that is gone from me Grin

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 09/12/2010 11:10

inlove You poor thing! I thought I was rough but I seem positively healthy compared to you! Just think of the weight loss....ha ha!!
Hope you feel better soon.

vnmum · 09/12/2010 13:48

hi everyone,

Been to WI this morning and i lost .... 4lb!! i am well pleased. only 2.5lb to go to my next siler 7 and only 4lb to go till my 10%. I aim to do this before xmas.

However, i am slightly disappointed as my leader is closing the class till 6th Jan, so thats 4 weeks without a class. she says it is because not enough people are coming on the run up to xmas and she is not making money so i am know going to have to see if there is another class at a convenient time within travelling distance or not officially WI for 4 weeks. I am monthly pass member aswell so pay for my classes in advance. There were quite a few disgruntled members this morning. I understand closing for xmas week but 4 weeks is quite alot IMO.

NormaSknockers · 09/12/2010 14:18

Afternoon all,

androbb well done on yet another fab loss that's brilliant!

That's always a lovely boost justabout keep on going, you're doing so well!

Berk good luck for your sign up tonight, it might seem a little daunting at first but after the first week you soon get into the swing, we're all here if you need any help or advice and feel free to ask us anything you're unsure of!

Glad you're feeling better today Lucky but tut tut at pushing yourself to go out when you weren't well....glad you felt amazing in your jeans though Xmas Wink Xmas Grin

Oh poor you InLove you do sound ill, what a way to start your birthday! Hope you start to feel better soon, keep drinking if you can and just take it easy!

vnmum that is a brilliant weight loss, well done you!! That's a real shame about your class though, to close for 4 weeks is quite a lot, surely by closing and not making any money at all is worse then taking a bit how odd! If you're worried about it I would find another meeting to attend if you can, even if you all you do is nip along and get weighed to keep you on track? Or start taking your measurements as of now and see how many inches you lose each week to keep you motivated?

froot · 09/12/2010 15:03

Well I lost half a lb at wi which I was well chuffed with given my deviations. But (in response to normas question) I am going off plan over Christmas - I was out the last 2 nights and tonight in fact I only hAve 1 night in between now and next thurs when I am off skiing for a long weekend . I know I wont stick to 'budget' so I will just lurk this thread til the new year. I don't plan on binging and will keep exercising.

Norma you are fab!

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 09/12/2010 19:55

vnmum well done, 4lbs is brilliant! I'm about 6 lbs away from my goal and would like to achieve it before Christmas if I can.
I agree that 4 weeks off is too long. (i.e.no classes).

Well, I def feel better than yesterday but having just sat at home doing nothing all day, I then went to collect my DD1 from school and it wiped me out. I fell asleep for 40 mins when I got home! (fear not, DH was at home). I think maybe I'm pushing myself to get back to work tomorrow cos I want to go on my work's Christmas do tomorrow night, but if I'm honest, I don't even feel well enough. It's just a shame cos in March my dept split into several sites and I would be seeing a lot of old colleagues/friends who I haven't seen for months. However, (thinking like Norma now) I probably should be sensible and not go. I also have tickets to see Faithless on Saturday night at the O2, and I think I should probably rest up tomorrow to then feel OK for that.

Feel gutted cos wanted to 'wow' said colleagues/friends in new size 10 skinny jeans Sad. Last time they saw me I was a size 14 (not that there is anything wrong with that, I hasten to add, before I get flamed, just highlighting the difference).

bluebump · 09/12/2010 20:01

Hello all

Well done on all the latest losses, I put on 1/2lb this week but given that i'd snacked and had a few social events this week that's not bad considering!

I've been doing WW since early August this year and i've got 2lb to go until i've lost 2 stone so although it seems to be going really slowly seeing another milestone like this is encouraging.

I don't know if it's the weather but i've been so hungry this week!

Furball · 09/12/2010 20:37

androbbob - how was the soup?

I made another huge batch today, but threw in a leftover leg of lamb! twas really scrummy

androbbob · 09/12/2010 21:03

Furball it was lovely soup if a little thin. How many stock cubes do you usually use? I had some left over chicken and threw that in aswell so was like a meal!

InLove - hope you are feeling better by the weekend - it would be a shame to miss your work do - could you not jsut call in for an hour and then go home to rest?

Vnmum - I was chatting to my leader last week at the meeting and we were discussing the other meeting I'd been to when I couldnt make my own. It was small and no one stayed for the talk! Apparently they have to get 10 people through the door before they get paid for the class so I can kind of understand why your leader wouldnt want to run classes when they know the numbers iwll be low. But I think it is wrong that you have paid up front and not getting your meeting to go to - try emailing WW HQ and see what they say - as not everyone can get to another meeting. My last one is next wed lunchtime but she does another one at 10am and I am off so can get to that.

Norma - how are you doing this week? You are quick to mention us all but forgot to say how you were!

Possibly heading for a hot choc now!!

Furball · 09/12/2010 21:10

androbbob - I use one stock cube for whole huge pan

vnmum · 09/12/2010 21:40

androbbob I can see the leaders point in a way but she had at least 14 people there today. it was the way she said it aswell though, very matter of fact and just "well you'll have to find another meeting to go to if you want to get weighed".

I have found other meetings in and around the area but alot are at night and i can't do nights but have found one on a wed morn so will try that. you never know i might like the leader better and stay with that meeting instead

hmc · 09/12/2010 21:59

Well done on the losses ginger, androbbob, vnmum etc.

...and get well soon to those of you who are unwell. There are some vile viruses doing the rounds atm!

Brilliant size 10 achievement WeWishYou - must feel sweet!

Lost another 2 lb at my weigh in last night - that's 12 lbs in 5 weeks so good steady progress. Like a few of you - quite a few diet busting social events on the horizon. Will try and point the food etc but you can never be fully confident that you are 'pointing' properly when you are being catered to!

Think I will be fortunate to maintain between now and Christmas!

boodleboot · 09/12/2010 23:27

hey all....well done for some fab losses!!! i am having bit of a shit wk and have worked out its cos i would be due on were i not bf. i have not been tracking this week either which has left me feeling a bit meh....think i have remained within points each day but have made some unsmart choices and felt a bit out of control i guess....not sure i have gained any weight but certainly dont feel like i have had a good loss wk....also only exercised once which def makes my mood dip...will try andfit a buggyfit style workout tomorr....

norma....i need u to kick me really hard pls....:)

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 10/12/2010 08:03

Hello, can I stick my head in again please? I am lurking on this thread having joined WW a couple of weeks ago to get all the PP stuff and have been doing it for a couple of weeks instead of SW (though am sticking with my SW class)

What are you all doing about your weekly points ? I've been having 23ish the last couple of weeks. This is the week when I sts or gain on SW so am having a think about how to handle it as want to lose 3.5lbs over the next two weeks to get to 2.5stone for Christmas. Any advice much appreciated, thank you.

WeWishYouALUCKYChristmas · 10/12/2010 09:02

wynken If you are doing WW PPs, I would use your whole points allowance tbh. AFAIK the lowest pps daily allowance is 29, so you should be eating at least 29 pps a day? Plus your 49 bouns/treats pps a week. I know it's tempting to eat less thinking that you will lose more, but my leader constantly says how eating your full pps quota will result in better losses. Make sure you point everything and weigh things out. Last night I had 6 pps left to use out of my 29, as I hadn't eaten much in the day due to feeling unwell. I worked out that I could have 42g of maltesers Grin. So I weighed out exactly 42g!!! Bit sad I know, but needs must!
The best advice I can give for good weight loss is obvious really, but stick to it rigidly!!! And try and do some exercise if you can but don't 'use' your activity points. I usually do 3-4 times a week exercise but don't ever use those points. That way I lose weight quicker.

androbobb I think you might have meant me not inlove about the work do??? Smile.
I spoke to my friend from work last night, and she said I should just go for the meal then come home. I've paid for it already and it was nearly £40, which I don't want to lose really!
Can you ask your honest opinions please? If I am off sick today from work, can I really go on the Christmas do later for an hour or so and then come home???

hmc · 10/12/2010 09:13

Like WeWish - I don't 'eat' the exercise points I earn (I exercise at moderate to high intensity for 30-45 minutes 6 days out of 7).

I do however eat every single one of my daily and weekly propoints allowance.
