Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Xmas Grin
froot · 02/12/2010 19:40

I'm back...... An update : after my magnificent 'no weight gain after a weekend of overindulging' something inside me obviously thought I was the Incredible Metabolic Woman who therefore did not need to diet an WHOOSH all thoughts off ww, pp and tracking erased themselves from my mind for ten days.

(And foolishly I didn't look at this thread which I know would have kept me on the staright and narrow......)

Then this morning, the snow came, I got my ski pants out (which haven't seen the light of day since April when I was a good 1/2 stone lighter) and guess what they were too tight.......so I must begin again with good resolve.

But the good news is I don't think I have put on much in my two weeks of going off the rails as I have still been on the treadmill every other day at least. But I will find out at WI on Monday.

By the way almost wet myself laughing at those old recipe cards!!

vnmum · 02/12/2010 19:46

Thanks Norma for the chiquitos menu ideas. I think i will probably go with veg fajitas or if i can use a few more points the chicken and chorizo quesadilla. I will have 0 point soup for lunch and maybe fruit and yog for breakfast so i still have loads of daily points left to use in case when i see the menu all resolve goes out of the window.

Furball · 02/12/2010 19:54

froot stick with those recipe card menus and you'll be back in them ski pants before you know it Grin

androbbob · 02/12/2010 22:04

bootlebot - glad you found us again an well done on the positive attitude - it is the way forward!

Tracking is a key part - I failed to do three days last week and only stayed the same. That is ok with me and I am positive for this week. Aiming for another half stone be Christmas. Not got anything planned between now and Wed so no reason for not losing any weight!

norma - you are such a positive person - it is rubbing off on me! We will get to that goal eventually! I have followed your lead and had stir fry tonight and will have the same tomorrow.

Rioja - fab weight loss - well done! Hope you survive with no internet!

hmc - a good loss there well done!

froot - another one back in the fold - just dont run away again else we will find you and bring you back! Xmas Grin

Oh well bring on tomorrow - it is supposed to snow here tomorrow and I am off in the afternoon - a bit of shopping and then a trip to the gym for a re-programme with an Instructor - not my usual one so hope he is good! I am on an exercise mission leading upto christmas in an attempt to slim the body down!!

NormaSknockers · 03/12/2010 07:40

Morning everyone, sick to death of the bastard snow yet Xmas Grin

froot you came back and have new resolve that's sometimes the hardest part so don't worry, forget the last few weeks and just get back on track as of now and you never know what WI might bring Xmas Grin

No problem vnmum sounds like a good plan to have low/0 pointed food for the most part then enjoy your meal. If your meeting has any of the eat out books it's well worth getting, I use mine much more then I thought I would, even stood in the queue at McDonalds last week reading it to see what to get. Did get some Xmas Hmm looks but hey Xmas Grin

Aw thank you androbb I've just been arsing about for too long and am just determined to finally get to goal! Well done on the stir fry, comes out ok PP wise doesn't it? Have a good session at the gym, you're braver then me Xmas Grin

hmc · 03/12/2010 09:00

Yes, properly disenchanted with the snow Norma !

Justabout - I made the same mistake with sardines at a restaurant where I ordered them off the menu thinking they would be the sensible choice, only to propoint them later at homeShock. I also can't get over how heavy wholegrain rice is on points!

Am loving the 'incredible metabolic woman' metaphor, froot Grin

Went through my first little dip in dieting resolve last night (being doing this for 4 weeks properly). I am craving that full, satiated sensation. It is not that I am constantly hungry, more a case of never feeling replete. Managed not to go crazy but first time I have dipped into my weekly propoint allowance before the weekend.

Frustrating day today - kids at school for short weather related day (10-2) and my piano teacher arriving in between, so starting to panic about when I am going to shoehorn a good long exercise session in (think I am swapping food addiction for exercise addiction!)

dottyaboutstripes · 03/12/2010 09:38

Hi ladies, I've been lurking a bit but haven't read whole thread, sorry.

I lost another 1.5lbs this week to make it 5.5lbs in the 3 weeks since I went back (am a gold member but my goal weight was highest possible allowed so want to shift a bit more) so I'm really pleased, though I'll admit I've been eating quite a lot of crappy food as it's "allowed" (eg Mars bars, mince pies etc!)

Anyway - I can't stay for meetings and should have asked my leader but always forget when I am there on the scales, but how much fruit is too much fruit? I've been snacking like crazy on all kinds of fruit as I'm just amazed and so pleased it's now zero, but I wonder if I'm eating too much of it???

hmc · 03/12/2010 10:54

Hi Dotty,

Our leader told us to stick to reasonable portions - so a segment of melon, a banana (or two if you must), a large handful of grapes, an apple.... (you can have all of these of course, just none of them to excess)

We did have one person who was eating a plastic container of grapes (you know - how they are pre-packaged) per day and the leader suggested that was excessive

NormaSknockers · 03/12/2010 12:47

hmc don't worry too much if you don't get any exercise in today, they (whoever they are) suggest exercise 5 days a week is healthy (personally I opt for 3 because I'm lazy!) so one day won't hurt Xmas Smile

Hi there dotty my leader said last week that she suggests after 5 portions a day it would be wise to start pointing it. Other leaders will have other views though Xmas Grin

I am currently dancing around the room as I had a size pair of 14 jeans arrive today to hang in my wardrobe as incentive but I have no need to hang them up as they blooming well fit!! First time 5 years I'm waering size 14 jeans Xmas Grin Yippee!

vnmum · 03/12/2010 15:27

Norma Thats great about the jeans, it's excellent motivation when that happens. I planned on buyibg the eat out guide this week at meeting but couldn't make it so will have to get it next week.

I weighed in at home and gained 1.5lb but i expected it coz i've eaten crap coz i've been feeling poorly and not been able to exercise coz of my asthma.

I have been tracking properly since yesterday, I even got a choccie bar out of fridge last night coz i fancied it, then put it on table next to me and left it there. it was right next to me and i just didn't feel the need to eat it so back in the fridge it went Smile

My chest seems to be improving today so i'm hoping to start exercising again over the weekend, either zumba or shred, then i can get this weight loss back on track.

I have resorted to some helping underwear though for my function next week, but it is fab, i have a waist and everything Grin

NormaSknockers · 03/12/2010 20:50

It has certainly put a smile on my face and given me a kick up the bum to stay on track Xmas Grin

We had a very yummy KFC for dinner so I've dipped into my weekly allowance but only by 13, I figure even if I use half that's still less then last week so we'll see if it makes any difference or not!

Sorry about the gain vnmum but well done for getting back on track and even bigger well done for putting the choccie back - that's really good resolve [frgin]

It will happen justabout it's taken me 18 months to get where I am at the moment due to arsing about but I can and will get to goal and so will you!

androbbob · 03/12/2010 22:11

norma that is fab - you must feel really happy! Xmas Grin I bought some new jeans about 4 weeks ago as my two pairs are on their last legs - threadbare at the inner thigh and they were tight. I decided to keep one black pair for Christmas day - will try them on nearer the 25th and hopefully they will be a perfect fit! They are a 16 though - it is my aim by Feb next year to get back into all the size 14 clothes that are in this house!

I am the same as you - piddling about losing a bit here, putting it back on, losing it again, but this is it - I started back at the same weight I was nearly four years ago when DS was born. I then lsot 19lbs of it before going back to work, and it has slowly gone back on again. The rot has to stop now as I get older it gets harder to lose it!

Come on everyone - lets keep this going - no excuses with the cold / snow - low / 0 point soups, ratatouille and stews are the way to go!

hmc · 03/12/2010 23:12

Brilliant norma - way to go!!! (whoops loudly)

BigTillyMincepie · 04/12/2010 11:15

Grin Norma!

My skinny jeans are feeling less tight, but the scales at home don't seem to be saying any lost - I missed my WI on Mon, so I must go this week.

I'm trying to keep within my daily points this week and not use any of the 49 as I had such a big eating out week last week - fingers crossed!

NormaSknockers · 04/12/2010 13:35

Thanks girls, I am sashaying around in them looking like this ----> Xmas Grin Though minus the santa hat Xmas Wink

Don't read too much into that Tilly my scales are at least 1lb out compared to the WW scales at the meeting so you might get a pleaset suprise when you next go to your weigh in Xmas Smile

Absolutely androbb no excuses on this new plan, I love the fact that I can have a takeaway and not go off track, or have a chocolate bar and not feel guilty and worry - it's fab!

hmc · 04/12/2010 15:09

I would by sashaying too!

Doesn't bode well - have been starving last 2 days and gave in last evening and went a bit potty. I now have only 7 of my weekly 49 propoints left and 5 days to go until my next lot Shock

androbbob · 04/12/2010 15:22

Oh dear - the carrot cake attacked me! Was walking past the bakers shop yesterday having been to the gym and next thing this carrot cake was in my hand so it would be rude not to eat it! Xmas Grin Well just tracked yesterday and today so far and that blooming carrot cake has cost me 15 PP That is obscene!

At least I have tracked it though and eaten into my weekly allowance by 9PP. Had McDonalds for lunch and had a happy meal - shared chicken nuggets with DD so the meal cost me 13PP for lunch as DS didnt want the burger just the bun! Had a light breakfast to compensate (so planned it!) and have a veg curry for tea which is around 5PP. Will stir-fry the rest of the veg and have that instead of rice - will work out to be a good day for PP!

I want to lose 2lb minimum this week so was annoyed with myself about the cake, but reasoned later that it could have been worse! I need to work out which of the cake shop cakes are the best to have (lower in PP) for the odd times we treat ourselves! Preparation is definately the key!

I then picked up the weeklymag from the meeting and it was going on about tracking and planning - twas a bit spooky!

Off to sort out DS's toys and get rid of some (when he is in bed later) to make room! Some will be Ebayed and some just charity shopped.

Hope all are having a good weekend! I bet Norma is still sasheying in her new jeans!
