Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

Welcome ArentFanny

Can I be cheeky and ask for the lamb and pearl barley recipe - sounds delish!

NormaSknockers · 27/11/2010 08:07

Hiya Fanny, fancy seeing you here Grin

Well done on your loss, fab stuff!

ArentFanny · 27/11/2010 08:10

350g of lean lamb, I used leg steaks
2 carrots,
200g swede
1 leek
1 onion
2 celery sticks
1 parsnip
850g chicken/lamb stock
75g pearl barley
sprig fresh rosemary.

Fry of the lamb in low fat cooking spray until brown, bung in all the chopped veggies, the stock, barley and rosemary. Bring to a boil and simmer for about an hour until the veg is tender.

Was very tasty.

Furball · 27/11/2010 09:17

Fab - Thank you.

Furball · 27/11/2010 09:21

I'm back on me minestrone soup diet!

Made another HUGE pan last night - tis really scrummy.

We need these warming soups/stews in this weather!

RiojaLover75 · 27/11/2010 09:47

Fanny that lamb soup sounds lovely, have you pointed it? How many servings would that recipe make?

Furball could you post your minestrone recipe please?

I'm having a wobbly week this week, was ill and didn't get to weigh in on Wednesday.

harverina · 27/11/2010 11:19

Well done Androbbob! Thats fantstic! I was very good last night - had 7 points left so weighed out the walkers sensations - 60g, a huge bowl which I munched on watching a DVD. My DH ate the rest - it made me feel that I wasnt being deprived and just goes to show that you can have nice things so long as you weigh and point things carefully. I was delighted!

Norma, hope you are ok. It is difficult to stay motivated when ylu are following the plan, being active and not seeing the results that you would like. BUT, I think that everyone is different and that your weight loss may just be slower than some other peoples? Not sure if you saw earlier up the thread but my leader only loses every second week on the pro points plan but she has a good result over the month so she just accepts it. Try not to worry too much. You sound like you are doing fantastic. Just keep tracking and I'm sure you will see a loss at the scales this week Smile

I made carrot and coriander soup yesterday. Had to count the stock cubes, but otherwise it is free. Had it for lunch and also as a starter for my dinner. Going to have it for lunch today as I am going out tonight so want to keep as many points as possible. Going to a friend's for dinner - she is making fish pie which will probably be very creamy Blush so I will need to use all of my 49 points for tonight (not all on the fish pie, I plan on having a few proseccos!)

Lucky2010 · 27/11/2010 12:16

Last week was my 2nd week but I had lost 7lbs overall, I didn't get a shiny seven Sad.

Lucky2010 · 27/11/2010 12:16

Furball Yes, sorry, couldn't reply while at work yesterday. Will do it now.

Furball · 27/11/2010 13:17

RiojaLover75 - Lamb Stew = 7 points per serving

My minestrone recipe = here I miss out the potato (and the oil obviously) to keep the points down. and works out at 4 points per pint!

Furball · 27/11/2010 13:18

lucky - will post on Monday

Furball · 27/11/2010 14:32

:(

WynkenBlynkenandNod · 27/11/2010 15:17

Boodleboot, I've come across this article that was linked from another forum, it is quite interesting and I hope it might make you feel a little better about it, though I know how horrible it is when you don't get the loss you're expecting on the scales.

vicbar · 27/11/2010 15:50

Right been to my 1st meeting since DD was born and I get 29 points plus 14 for bf and another 49 a week. That means by spreading the bonus points over a week ...50 points a day!!

Will I seriously lose weight on this ?

Im joining 11st 5lb (the shame)
gold weight 10st 10lb
Actual aim 9st 5lb.

My meetings on monday so Ill put up the loss (or more likely gain as Im struggling without the calculator etc)

Ive got a million of old ww books did someone say you can get the new points value for the old receipes online ?

Lucky2010 · 27/11/2010 16:30

Just cooking a roast Shock!

Furball · 27/11/2010 18:26

well - me philly/broccoli/cauliflower thingy was really good - even threw in some spinach - will deffo make again.

I had done it with boursin in the past but the Philly with garlic and herbs was more flavoursome.

empty plates all around

Lucky2010 · 27/11/2010 18:53

Furball I'll def give that one a go! Sounds yummy.

My roast was delicious and really filling. I must admit I have never actually had to weigh out my roast chicken and roast potatoes, but I did today so as to stick to points. My whole roast was only 10 pps, and it was a MASSIVE plateful:

90g of chicken, no skin, 1pp per 30g - 3
100g or roast potatoes roastes in oil - 4
Gravy -1
Oil that roasties and butternutsquash cooked in - 2
Lots of 'zero point' veg, incl butternutsquash which would actually make a great substitute for potatoes anyway..

Yummy!

Just watching 'Elf' with the kids Grin.

Happy Sunday all, how have your weekends been so far?

I've given myself a kick up the bum and reminded myself that even if I stay the same this week or only shift the 0.5lb I gained last week 6lbs and 10.5 inches over 3 weeks is not something to feel down about so I'm marching forward Grin

boodle I'm sorry you were disappointed at weigh in, I know it can be incredibly disheartening when the scales don't show what you'd hoped for but remember that however little it is, it's still a loss and that is brilliant. It's headed in the right direction. The other thing is if you're not using all your points (ie the ones allocated to you for BF) then it can screw up your bodies metabolism causing the weight loss to show, try eating all of your allocated points this week and see what the results are. Did you discuss it with your leader? If she knew you were eating under she would probably say much the same as I have and encourage you to not eat under :)

Welcome to the thread vicbar best of luck for weigh in, let us know how you get on!

Furball dinner sounds lovely, I swear by Philadelphia, love the stuff Grin

Well done on sticking to your points justabout flipping good guess work Grin Good luck for weigh in tomorrow.

I'm not sure if I'm going to make my WI or not tomorrow as DH is at work, my Nana has offered to babysit but I don't like the thought of her driving in the dark and in all this cold and frost - might see if my brother will drive her!

Lucky2010 · 28/11/2010 09:33

Morning Norma!

I managed to have 19 bonus pps left last night so had some maltesers Grin.

I really love this new WW, I def can eat more than before and stay within pps.

Furball · 28/11/2010 10:20

I'm still on the minestrone soup diet!

Am making another huge pan today, dh has been ill and doesn't fancy eating anything else - which is fine by me!

This is going to be the last lot for a week or so though as I know I'll never want to see another ministrone again if I keep making it.

thighsmadeofcheddar · 28/11/2010 14:15

Hello all,

Norma - keep on going, your massive loss in week 1 has probably frightened your body a bit. Eek, hang on the pounds are probably saying.

Furball - DH and dd1 are about to get the ministrone on the go. It's brill for the low points snack.

I need some low point days actually. Yesterday I had lunch at the Gaucho Grill in Picadilly with my girlfriends and I would like to point out, I didn't eat the delicious warm bread at the start or finish my dessert. (Hoovered my main steak and chips yum). But I did enjoy 2 x glasses of champers and 2 x glasses of Merlot plus a raspberry vokda martini. Sigh, it was all delicious. Anyway, I'm proud of myself as normally I would of been a glutton and yesterday I ate till I was comfortably full. (Only taken 36 years to reach this state of zen!)

Roll on Wednesday I say (weigh in). I've shredded today and walked the hound for a good hour.

Enjoy your day all
