Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

OP posts:
Lucky2010 · 23/11/2010 12:54

Tip for pizza express lovers...I went to Pizza express last night, I had an omlette for breakfast packed with spinach, tomatoes and mushrooms, (4pps) then a small portion of WW butternutsquash risotto recipe (4 pps) and then lots of fruit. So I still had 21 pps to use at P.Exp. So I had....

Garlic bread with mozzarella 8 pts

Leggera Pizza (with salad in middle) 13 pps.

No dessert (weigh in next day!)

So I managed food out and within my normal points....well chuffed!

bluebump · 23/11/2010 13:18

I have decided to give the new plan a whirl while I have a week left of my free trial - and I stayed the same weight this week on the old plan so need a kickstart!

NormaSknockers · 23/11/2010 13:20

Amanderrr well done on staying the same, fingers crossed for a good WI next week Grin I've got a dog so no need for the loan Wink I don't walk him every day as DH takes him some of the days but on the day I walk him it's even more walking. I don't have my pedometer anymore as I broke it Blush but I was well over 'healthy' on daily steps.

Agree with bigTillyMint it's definately worth staying for the meetings if you can. I find them really motivation and also it's nice to have a moan/congratulations with the other members too and swap recipes etc!

Well done on your loss Sweetness that's brilliant, keep up the good work and your lunch sounds lovely Envy

Lucky well done on the WI, fab weight loss well done you! And well done on the enjoying your meal out within your daily points too, fab!

Welcome bluebump good luck for the coming week Grin

Amanderrr · 23/11/2010 15:07

Lucky ~ That is brilliant! You must be so pleased. Grin Haha at you and your 'poo'. Your comment reminded me of Harvey (Sgt Major type guy) on Celebrity Fit Club a few years ago. Someone had lost just 2 or 3lbs iirc compared to huge loses by the others and Harvey said "I could've shit more than that". I really need a Harvey in my fridge.

Sweetness ~ Welcome back! Your 6lbs off in two weeks is fab.

Reading about all your loses is really motivating and I really want to add to next weeks combined weight loss total.

Just had a go on Just Dance for the wii with DS3. We were both rubbish but it was really good fun and it didn't feel at all like exercise. All puffed out now though and I've had to turn the heating off. I should have earnt a few activity PPs today as I spent about 40mins scrubbing the patio and then about 30mins on Just Dance.

Lucky2010 · 23/11/2010 19:46

bluebump I had been doing the old system on and off for years and had just resigned myself to the fact that I could only lose 0.5-1 lb a week, but that as long as I was losing that was fine. The new pro-points has undoubtedly given my body a huge shock and kickstart!!! Good luck and welcome!

Amanderr I rememeber that Harvey comment!! I loved that series (with Jodie Prenger on it) but I don't like the US/Aussie ones so much. We have a Harvey exercise DVD, so you too could have Harvey in your house if you want!!! It's like circuit training. Very good although music to it is very dull.

androbbob · 23/11/2010 20:27

Evening all! Not a happy camper here - all geared up for a lunchtime weigh in tomorrow and now I have to go out on site all day and there is no way I can get to my meeting! If I was going on my own I would have driven back at luch for the WI and then gone back out but I am taking one of the lads with me and dont want to advertise the fact that I am on a diet!

To add insult to injury - the only class I can get to this week (dont want to go to an evening meeting as will not be the same and will have the kids with me - far too much like hard work) is a Friday meeting as I am off then to do shopping. But it is 8 miles away! Oh well - I would rather do it then than miss a week. So will report back on Friday.

Had a good eating day today - low lunch and lowish tea - DD kindly worked out the PP for the two pieces of garlic bread I was having - bless (she is 8 and as skinny as a rake!)

Here to some other good weigh-ins this week - dont think we will beat our losses last week as it was the first week for many of us, but even so - it will all add up! Every little helps Grin

hmc · 23/11/2010 20:45

Good results sweetness and lucky!

Currently fighting hunger pangs - off to raid the fridge for free point grapes and kiwi (tries to believe that will be satisfying)

nanny1974 · 23/11/2010 20:50

Im going to buy the new books next week, But what is my pp daily allowance
Im 36
5.5
St 10.4 p
any one

hmc · 23/11/2010 20:57

Our leader said very mysteriously that you can't work it out yourself any longer!

androbbob · 23/11/2010 20:58

Nanny - I am on 29 which is the lowest and I am heavier than you, so i guess you would be 29 a day with a weekly allowance of 49.

mummytowillow · 23/11/2010 21:16

Why can't I get my head around the ProPoints?

I've been a WW for years and years, I'm 41 and went to my first class when I was 20, and here I am still overweight! Wink

I lost 21lb, and have put 11lb back on in less than 3 months! So I decided to join again two weeks ago, the first week I didn't even try, how bad is that! Blush

This week I've been better, but whats going on, is anyone else struggling with it? I think because I've got to work everything out I can't be bothered??

That wheel thing they give you is crapola! So I even bought the calculator and still can't be bothered?

Help? Grin

Please post your weight loss in the first week of ProPoints to inspire me!! Wink

harverina · 23/11/2010 22:32

Hi all,

Had a good day today food wise and also walked so I am pretty pleased. Still need to work on my food choices though...still eating too much "rubbish"...for example, today I had 2 packets of quavers. While I stayed within my points, I just feel that I need to change the way I eat and not feel as though I am only eating well if I am allowed to eat junk!

Yes, ClaireDeLoon, I always stay for the meeting. I go at the end of the weigh in session though so that I am not hanging around for ages. My weigh in is from 6.30pm-7pm so I go at 6.50pm then the meeting is another half an hour. I find the meetings really motivating. My leader is so "normal", not a skinny minnie and she seem to understand the psychological issues that people have with food. TBH I would feel like it was a waste of money just to go and get weighed then leave - it would be cheaper just to do the online plan and weigh yourself every week? Personally I need to go get weighed and stay for the meeting. I just can't lose weight on my own...which my DH finds very annoying. He can't understand why I "waste" money on getting weighed Angry

Struggling with temptation in the evenings...I love cocopops and often have them with alpro light in the morning. HOWEVER, I think about them all evening! Despite my love for them I think that I am going to have to stop buying them if I want to succeed at this. I could eat half the packet in one sitting, easily. I am so so greedy.

mummytowillow, I completely understand how you are feeling. I joined 4 weeks ago and didn't even start the diet - I have done ww and other slimming clubs so many times before and I think that I had sickened myself with it all and that I knew every points value so became complacent. The propoints has been wonderful for me. I have treated it like a brand new diet and look up everything and track everything that I eat. I lost 4lbs in the first week of pp...ate EVERY point available to me, including the 49 weekly points. It does work. My leader felt the same - she feels that propoints has kick started her again.

Just to add...my leader has done fab on the new plan but only seems to lose weight every second week. The other weeks she remains the same. Not sure what thats about but over the month she has still been losing 6-8lbs. Just thought I'd let you all know just in case this is what happens to us!

Welcome to the newcomers and good luck to everyone for the weigh ins. Mine is tomorrow night. Expecting a gain since my own scales are telling me I have gained, but will keep at it.

harverina · 23/11/2010 22:32

P.s sorry for typos in my posts, typing sooooo fast!

Lucky2010 · 23/11/2010 23:36

mummytowillow I have lost half a stone in 2 weeks on the new plan......it works for me!!!
I strongly reccommend but (and I know this sounds obvious) you have to stick to it!! The friends I go with don't even write down what they eat, they tend to lose much less, if at all.
I would agree with all that Harverina says too. It has def kickstarted me!!

Having said that, I have just eaten half a bag of penn state pretzels which was 10 pps!!!!! EEK! Will have to take it out of my 49 extra points.

If you have the calculator you can work out your points allowance using that. I dunno why the leaders are being so 'cloak and dagger' about it!!

NormaSknockers · 24/11/2010 08:19

Morning all,

nanny I would put you on 29 as I am far heavier then you and on 30, 29 is the lowest you can have plus your 49 weekly.

mummytowillow It does take a week or two to get into the swing of it buy you need to try otherwise it's a waste of time (and money!) you need to get motivated to do it and starting working everything out. I lost 6lbs in my first week, the total thread loss for the first week was 55.5lbs, the results are excellent and you can eat so much more then before so it's worth knuckling down and giving it a go :)

harverina how did you do last night with the coco pops? Did you manage to resist? Best of luck for weigh in tonight, you might be surprised! That's really interesting about your leader too, very good to know, and like you say 6-8lbs loss a month is really very good, average 2lb a week so I'd be chuffed with that Grin Don't fret too much about what you eat, if you broke it down over the course of a month you would find you are eating a balanced diet so don't worry honestly.

Good day food wise yesterday;

WW bar (2 PPs)

2 potato waffles topped with bacon & low fat cheese (11 PPs)

Chicken chassuar (sp) with small amount of roast pots and lots of veg (9 PPs)

Jam tart (home made) & a Crunchie (8 PPs)

I'm going to make the tangy tomato and butterut squash soup from the WW book today. My leader told us a fab tip, she said if you're a hungry eater in the evening make some 0 PP soup and have that as a starter before your evening meal, can't believe I never thought of that before!!

boodleboot · 24/11/2010 08:46

hi all (hey lee!!!!)

wow its so good to read that people are losing sensibly already...weight that is not the battle!! i am starting to get back in the swing this wk and have remained within 35 points all week....i have 49pnts cos of breastfeeding but that really feels excessive.

i ate out yesterday at toby carvery and had gammon and beef roast with swede. cauliflower, peas, carrots, no potatoes and a yorkie and one stuffing ball and gravy....was delicious and i was stuuuuuufffffed. it all pointed as 12pts so not bad at all!!

i pointed a bag of quavers at 2pts using the calculater but online it said cheese quavers five....i cant believe that as therre was only about ten crisps in packet....anyone know?

im off to buggyfit now....it damn near killed me last wk but i shall not give in!!!! my fitness is appalling it would seem.....bugger!

good luck to all wiv weigh ins looming

justabout do not give up, stay focused. Ok you've had a blip, something that has been unavoidable but that doesn't mean you have to throw in the towel and get disheartened. Do you have a microwave that you could cook in? When is your WI usually? Stop weighing yourself until WI, your weight can fluctuate every day so give your body time to adjust.

boodle I would go with the calculations off the packet (just double check them) as there are a few errors on the online tracker :)

harverina · 24/11/2010 10:15

No, Norma, Im afraid I had a HUGE bowl at midnight. Packet nearly finished so thats it, no more cocopops. I don't have enough willpower to resist them at night. Nightime is bad for me anyway. I can e excellent all day and blow it after 8pm. So stupid, I know.

Well done boodleboot for going mto buggy fit. I dont think that there is one net I really fancy it. I am on 43 points as I too am breastfeeding - I ate them all last week and lost 4lbs, but will see how WI goes tonight Smile

thighsmadeofcheddar · 24/11/2010 10:24

Hello all,

hope everyone is going well.
I've just got home from my meeting and am very pleased to have lost 1/2 pound considering what I've eaten in the last week. It's not massive in the scheme of things, but I really felt I could have gained.

Out again tonight so will be extra good today:

B: Fruit & Fibre
L: Pitta, ham, salad
D: ??
S: Fruit (and a few drinks!)

Am off to sports shop later to buy weights to start doing SHRED. Eek!

Good luck

harverina · 24/11/2010 10:28

Well done thighs, love your name BTW Smile Like you I feel that I may have gained this week as I have been awful 4 days and good 3. I would be delighted with a 0.5lb loss...every loss counts!

What is shred?

ClaireDeLoon · 24/11/2010 10:35

Well done thighs!

justabout don't give up, please, one bad week doesn't mean it's all worthless, it just means you had ONE bad week

harverina shred is a fitness dvd - '30 day shred' by Jillian Michaels. Basicially an intense 20 minute workout rotating stength, cardio and abs in 3, 2 and 1 minute bursts. It's bloody hard work because it's just constant with no rests for 20 minutes. I started doing it in the summer but personal circs meant I had to stop and I need to get back into it.

boringnamechange · 24/11/2010 10:48

Ah this is exactly what I need! Other people in the same boat :)

Iv been at WW for 3 years now got to goal after 6 months and maintained till I got pg with DD2 and its been a struggle ever since :( managed to get back to goal in May but Im so up and down now its driving me mad.

I started the new plan two weeks ago but havent been able to get back to a class due to a birthday and tonight I am working :( I am still within my 5lb over my goal so dont have to pay for missed classes but I need the motivation to go and sit in class :(

Im finding PP not too bad although its taking a bit of getting used to. Will try and make a class tomorrow night to see how I have done but not too hopefull :(

One thing though that does annoy me is that all the WW food still has the old points - I had a WW chicken curry last night for 4.5 old points and it was now 8PPs! And I was starving after :(

Well done to everyone how has lost - made me determined to stick at it!

Lx

NormaSknockers · 24/11/2010 11:32

Well done thighs great stuff Grin Good luck with the Shred, I don't envy you!

NormaSknockers · 24/11/2010 11:35

Hello and welcome boring, don't feel too disheartened, it does take a good few weeks to get into the swing of it, even my leader said it took her a good 3 weeks before she felt like she'd gotten the hang of it. The WW food should hopefully be switching over to the new PPs once they've lauched PP after Christmas, there are some products for sale at the meetings that have the new PP on them though and if you buy the WW magazine in the meetings it has a PP leaflet in it too with all the PP values :)
