Weightwatchers ProPoints Plan

1000 replies

squashedfrogs · 08/11/2010 22:14

I've been following WW online for a few years on and off and today my account has changed to the new ProPoints plan. I haven't yet looked into this properly but was wondering if anyone else knew much about it?

I know there is another thread where someone (sorry can't remember who) was testing the new plan, has it been easy to follow & does it work?

OP posts:
NormaSknockers · 22/11/2010 17:09

Glad you liked them gingernut should have said if it's too sticky just add a little more flour Wink

Off to WI a bit later - will report back later Grin

chebbs · 22/11/2010 18:30

Its my first week on the new plan and first weigh in tomorrow :-0 Feel like i have eaten much more on this than on the old plan so feeling a bit hesitant, but we will see hopefully ill be pleasantly surprised???

froot · 22/11/2010 18:42

Well the weigh in I was dreading and OMFG I had stayed exactly the same!!! A brief rundown of my weekend was:

Thursday lunch - tapas til fit to burst with Sangria. Evening - Cocktails followed by 3 course veggy meal including donuts and chocolate sauce for pudding (Terre a Terre in Brighton) with wine

Friday- brunch - Eggs Benedict with a smoothie
Chocolate to keep me going -eveining the Big Nine Course Meal with all the wine to accompany it. Followed by vodka jellies, more cocktails and lots of dancing

Saturday - pancakes with maple syrup, toast, muesli, yoghurt . fudge. Crab Chowder and crusty bread. G and T .Fish starter, steak and dauphinoise potatoes with red wine, vodka cocktail.

Sunday - full English breakfast also yogurt and meusli. Lunch - Krispy Kreme donut.

How on earth did I not put on weight??!! Surely shopping cannot use up that humungous number of points! I expect it will catch up with me next week .

bigTillyMint · 22/11/2010 20:19

Just back from weigh-in and I have lost 2 1/2 pounds!

I did stick within my 29 points all week, apart from yesterday at the curry buffet Smile

This week could be a challenge as I am eating out five times!

androbbob · 22/11/2010 20:33

Well done to bigtillymint! Eating out 5 time should be ok in theory! As long as you chose wisely and point it all regardles of going over - I reckon this is the control side of things!! How much do you want to lose?

amanderrr - you are not allowed to go AWOL again - we will track you down - we are here to support all through thick and thin!! Hope you turn it round and have a good week.

froot - staying the same is ok honest! If yo have a good week and tack everything then you should be ok!

Still got 3PP left for today - so will have a Options Hot Choc later - 1PP and then call it a day!

One more full eating day before WI on Wed lunchtime! Hoping for at least 2lbs!

NormaSknockers · 22/11/2010 21:04

Well done bigTillyMint on your loss, excellent!

Froot well done on staying the same, can you try and work out what to eat ahead of going out to try and stay on track?

Amanderrr good to see you back I know it's hard but try and get back track on tonight, don't put it off, take control and hop back on the wagon Grin Wink

androb sounds like you're doing well, fingers crossed for Weds!

WI was not good :( I gained 0.5lb, absolutely gutted! So gutted in fact I had sausage and chips for dinner Blush I was still just within points though so not all bad....

harverina · 22/11/2010 22:26

normasknockers, didnt manage point my bad day yesterday and unfrotunately I went out for lunch today - had a dry baked potatoe with prawn marei rose and side salad...no cake for me but still not a great day. Had chicken and salad for dinner to try and stay on track. My WI is on Wednesday but I made the mistake of weighing myself on the wii fit and I have GAINED 1 lb Sad. WIll just have to wait and see what Wed brings but I suspect it wont be good.

NormaS, you are so postive and motivating...are you a leader?? Your posts are great, thanks so much. Don't worry too much about the small gain. If we are all to lose weight and keep it off in the long run then small gains are only to be expected along the way. Hope you enjoyed your sausage and chips - everyone deserves a treat.

Going to be shortly...I'm hungry though. Only had protien for dinner so thats probably why. Nothing worth eating that isnt high in points so Id better try and sleep rather than raid the kitchen.

ClaireDeLoon · 22/11/2010 22:58

You are all doing so well, very inspiring.

I went tonight and when the leader was asking people how they were doing quite a lot of them had good losses - 1.5lbs - 4lbs. It helps with the motivation.

I got the pack with the eating out guide/calculator/shopping guide etc. It all seems to make sense, quite a change fruit being free though. Must not overdose on bananas!!

On the minus side I was even heavier than I had realised so I have an awful lot to lose.

Norma like you said to me upthread, you've lost 10 and a half inches in two weeks. You're doing very well and tonight is just a blip.

Amanderrr · 22/11/2010 23:52

BigTillyMint ~ Well done! I'm so jealous. Envy

Froot ~ As you were dreading the WI then you probably expected a gain. Staying the same is a bonus! I've had a bad week too (Official WI day is tomorrow but was the same as last Tues this morning) so I'm just going to start again tomorrow and it'll be just like last week never happened. Smile

Norma ~ I am sorry you didn't see a loss Sad but half a lb isn't a complete disaster. If you've stuck within your PPs then maybe upping activity would help? Could you add 30min brisk walk into your day?

Well, I have a little bit of good news. I allocated 2PPs each for the wafer biscuits and party rings but looked in the shopping guide and they're just 1PP each Grin. My big bit of good news is that DP lost 3lbs tonight so that's 6.5lbs in two weeks. If he can lose 3lbs every week between now and Christmas that'll be a stone and a half gone!

Bed now but I'll be back tomorrow morning with official WI day result. Smile

bigTillyMint · 23/11/2010 07:08

Norma Sad Don't let it put you off - sometimes it's water retention and you will see a loss the following week. Also, is your weigh-in in the evening? If you have had even a drink or something to eat more than you did the week before before weigh-in, then it will show on the scales. I find that really difficult. Also making sure you wear the same / similar clothes for the weigh-in. First thing in the morning would be much easier!

NormaSknockers · 23/11/2010 09:33

Morning all Grin

harverina ok, put yesterday put behind you, well done for trying to eat a sensible dinner and going to bed rather then raiding the fridge. Be positive about today, you know you can do this, it's easy to wander off the right track, we all do it, so don't beat yourself up over it. Make sensible food choices and you'll be back in the swing without even thinking about it :) Aww thank you for saying that, no not a leader, just been doing this a while and have been working on my self esteem issues and learning not to beat myself up all the time Wink

Claire glad you managed to get the pack etc, best value IMO. Best of luck to you for this week, most of us here have been following for a few weeks now so any questions hopefully we'll be able to answer them for you Grin

Amanderrr I do over half an hour of walking each day as it is as I do the school run twice a day which is a half an hour round trip each time and once I've dropped DD off I tend to walk the longer way home to boost it up a bit :) Glad the biscuits weren't as high as you thought, love it when that happens! Well done to your DH too, what a fab loss! Hope your WI this morning goes well Grin

bigTillyMint you're preaching to the choir Wink I always wear the same (or least same jeans different colour top lol) each week and I always make sure I eat dinner at least an hour and a half before weigh in. I've only ever attended evening weigh ins but I do miss being able to weigh in at home, first thing in the morning butt naked for the best results - somehow I don't think that would go down well at the meeting if I started stripping off Grin I was sure I'd gained but it wasn't fun to have it confirmed. There were quite a few of us at the meeting who'd gained 0.5lb though so I wasn't alone at least Grin

chebbs · 23/11/2010 09:40

Lost 2 pounds :-) not as quick a weight loss as the old plan but i ate loads more so pleased with that, lets hope i can manage week 2 lol!

bintofbohemia · 23/11/2010 09:42

Only put one pound on! Am please with that, I was expecting 3!

NormaSknockers · 23/11/2010 09:46

Well done chebbs on your loss, slow and steady is the way, more likely to come off and stay off and also gives your body time to shrink with the losses Grin

bob glad you're pleased with your WI, always a nice surprise when you gain far less then you thought you would!

ClaireDeLoon · 23/11/2010 10:06

Well done chebbs for your loss and bintofbohemia for not putting on too much!

Do you all stay for the meetings? I just ask because last night the weigh in part took an hour (two people doing the weighing) and then the meeting another half an hour. I picked a meeting in London near the mainline station I commute from, so by the time I got home was quite late. I can't go to a local to home one as they are at 6pm (crazy time for a town with quite a lot of London commuters) and the lunchtime one near my office is weigh in only, which I don't find as motivating. Is it normal for the weigh in to take so long?

So for day one brekkie, I'm at home today so I had 2 slices of grilled back bacon, a poached egg, mushrooms, tomatoes and a slice of wholemeal toast. Feeling quite full and I have worked it out at 6 points.

Do I count the points for milk in tea?

hmc · 23/11/2010 10:13

I'm going to join this thread because it seems busy and active! A thread I was on died a death, it must be my deoderant.

Started weightwatchers 2 weeks ago when propoints was launched - lost 3.5 lbs last wednesday and am due a weigh in tonight [gibbers]

NormaSknockers · 23/11/2010 10:18

I always stay for the meetings Claire, our weigh in usually takes about 30-45 minutes and the meeting usually 30 minutes, I'm usually hime by about half 8. I know other meetings have a longer weigh in and 2 people doing the weigh in but the one I attend isn't a particulary big one.

With your milk it all depends how many cups you have a day, if you have one or two no I wouldn't bother. If you have four or six then I would count 1/4 pint at the beginning of the day to cover it :)

NormaSknockers · 23/11/2010 10:19

Hi and welcome hmc best of luck for weigh in tonight :)

hmc · 23/11/2010 10:32

Thanks for the welcome Norma Smile (it's tomorrow though, its obviously so on my mind that I temporarily confused myself and put 'tonight' in my first post Blush)

chebbs · 23/11/2010 10:51

Thanks Norma/Claire :-) Claire i dont stay for the meetings i hear they are very good and helpful but my meeting in total takes about an hour and half and find that too long with having a little one with me.I may start staying down the line if i think my motivation is fading!!

Amanderrr · 23/11/2010 11:54

2nd weigh in stats...

Height ~ 5'4". Still no taller! Angry
Start weight ~ 9st 4lbs.
Current weight ~ 9st 3lbs.
Goal weight ~ 8st 10lbs or thereabouts.

So after two weeks, an awful lot of fruit and not tracking for the last four days or so I've stayed the same as last week. Not losing this week proves that sticking (Well, very nearly sticking) to PPs works and if I can lose 1lb a week between now and Christmas I'll get to under 9st which I'd be happy with. 1lb a week is definitely do-able (If I can leave the Stollen alone) with a bit of self dicipline.

Norma ~ I was going to offer to lend you a dog but with all that walking you really don't need one. Do you use a pedometer?

Androbob ~ Very best of luck for your WI tomorrow. Fingers crossed you get that 2lbs off. [Smile]

Chebbs ~ 2lbs off. Go you! Grin

Hmc ~ Hi and hope WI tomorrow goes well.

Right, haven't eaten yet so I'm off for a boiled egg and toast (4PPs).

bigTillyMint · 23/11/2010 12:18

claire, our weigh-in starts about 45mins before the meeting - 2 people weighing, and our leader leaves her "helper" to weigh if there are still people waiting to start the meeting. I find it is definitely worth staying as it motivates me more and also means less time at home to raid the kitchen Wink

hmc · 23/11/2010 12:23

Same with our weigh in - from 6.30 but meeting starts at 7.00 (so I get there at 6.50 so whole process is not so long and onerous)

SweetnessAndShite · 23/11/2010 12:27

Hello all. I've not been on for a bit and have missed some good losses so well done everyone. To those who've had blips don't beat yourself up. Put it behind you and move onwards (and downwards!)

I weighed in today 2 days early as I can't make my Thurs meeting this week. I lost 0.5 lb. Pleased with that as I had a stupidly enormous loss last week and have weighed in early this week.

So in the 2 weeks since ProPoints was launched I have lost 6lb. Very good. Only 7.5lb to go now.

Just had smoked salmon with homemade sundried tomato loaf for lunch - how decadent does that sound!

Lucky2010 · 23/11/2010 12:49

A warm welcome to all the newbies...it's a very busy and supportive thread! I find it hard to keep up cos I can't check everyday, so I will just say a massive well done to all of you who lost, and also those who stayed the same and a 'please don't worry' for those who gained 1/2 lb....that's nothing!! You can do a poo and lose more than that (yes, I am still obssessed with poo...)

I am on a complete high cos I went to WI this morning and thinking I would either stay the same or lose 1 lb (which would be fine) I was shocked to lose 2.5 lbs!!!! So with last weeks 4.5lbs that means I've lost half a stone in 2 weeks......Yippee!!

I have been doing lots of exercise but not using my activity pts. When I first stared losing weight my initial goal was to be 10st 10lbs, I really struggled to get below 11 st for ages, but now I'm at 10st 6lbs....the weight I was on my wedding day....I keep moving the goal posts, and now I want to be 10 stone!! (I'm 5ft 5").

Thanks for all your support ladies...keep up the good work!
