Right I need some moral support as I fancy giving this a go to lose weight. Anyone else fancy joining in?

angrypixie, i am also doing slimming world. i find it quite good when you crave carbs after a run coz you can just make yourself some chips or pasta. having said that i do need to really get back on track with my eating, i have been having too many syns. i weighed in on thursday and had stayed the same but i think if i hadnt have been running i would have gained.

i'm due to run today but woke up feeling drained so am looking for energy and motivation to fit it in today

likelylady · 11/09/2010 13:22

Did week 6 day 3 today - a non stop 25 minute run! I was actually able to do it comfortably. In fact when he said just 4 mins to go I had thought it was a further ten mins so it didn't take as long. However I looked at my pedometer and it said I ran 2.5 milesSad! So it shows how slow I am but that doesn't bother me. I'll concentrate on getting faster when I'm fitter.

Loujalou · 12/09/2010 17:12

Week 5 day 2 done - take 2. Am now back to this running malarkey. But as am going on holibobs at the end of the week I might stick with day 2 a bit longer.

DH hasn't run in years and years and he came with me today. Was nice to have a partner in crime.

I have never really done a proper diet before just reduced carbs to fit into my wedding dress - it was a tad tight at one point.

Am liking the 8 min runs as its less stopping and starting. Actually that's all lies I hate it at the time.

Pixie my dear how's the mojo?

Hello to the rest of you all too.

Mojo va-va-vooming, I went swimming today (proper swimming not bobbing up & down with youngest dc) and have running opportunities tomorrow & wednesday this week.

I am basically low carbing too (SW red plan) I just want to glam up a bit in time for christmas!

shortandsweet2 · 14/09/2010 08:12

Hey everyone

I have completed week one and will be moving on to week 2 day 1 this evening :)

Pixie glad you are getting the time to run this week.

Lady well done on the constant 25m run - I hope I can do that when I get to that point.

I am doing SW too but have been a bit lax of late.

vnmum · 15/09/2010 10:53

shortandsweet, i have been very lax this week so not going to weigh in. I'm feeling a bit tired and legs are heavy and stiff. i really should run today but dont know wether to try it and see how i get on or if that will risk injury if i'm tired

AngryPixie · 15/09/2010 16:27

Finally finished week 3 Grin I have however been to the gym 4 times in the last week, but I have discovered the joys of the cross trainer, works me hard without the 'joggers bounce' of my mahoosive boobs!!!

Actually looking forward to SW weigh in tomorrow!

shortandsweet2 · 16/09/2010 06:46

Well done pixie!!!

Day one of week 2 has really killed me so won't be going out again until tomorrow or sat.

mum - Hope you feel better soon, probably best just to chill until you back to yourself

Loujalou · 16/09/2010 09:07

Am on holiday from tomorrow but did get running (week 5 day 3 again) and it was cool. Loved it. I actually felt like it was not killing me. But as I was sick for a week my DH thought it best to repeat the day rather than do the 20 min run. Who would have thought I would say 8 minutes was a good time to run - but it was.

Pixie you have your mojo well and truly rocking. Well done you.

Short well done - I always take a day off in between though am tempted to go out tonight - I will rest as have an early flight.

My DH after not running for years and coming out and doing 2 8 min runs with me - as he didn't want to start at the beginning of the programme is still in pain.... Men!

OP posts:
vnmum · 16/09/2010 11:21

just done week 5 day 1 and found it easier than week 4. i think its because i can get into a rhythem. i might repeat day 1 tomorrow then do day 2 over the weekend as i'm still nervous of doing a whole 8 mins running.

Loujalou i know what you mean about men, my DH is trying to run again but he just beasts himself then complains that he's so unfit and knackered the next day. i have tried to get him to start slowly and do this plan but he won't listen. the thing is, he has seen how much of an improvement i have made through doing it but still won't try it.

AngryPixie · 16/09/2010 19:09

Lost 5.5lbs this week (slimming world & gym)

Haven't run so much but done lots of cross training & rowing.

Just though I'd mention it Blush

Loujalou · 16/09/2010 19:44

Well done pixie. That's a lot of weight. Maybe I will join sw when I get back. We will see. Have slimmed down though just not brave enough to weigh myself. I might cry if I knew how fat I was.

OP posts:
vnmum · 16/09/2010 20:23

well done pixie.

shortandsweet2 · 17/09/2010 09:42

OMG pixie that is fantastic well done!!

I am going to do day 2 week 2 tomorrow morning. I prefer the mornings as not as many people around to see my fat arse wobble :o

vnmum · 20/09/2010 11:49

week 5 run 2 done this morn. It wasn't as horrific as i thought it would be but i struggled abit during the last half of the 2nd 8 minute run. I had 2 days off over the weekend eating rubbish which probably didn't help. I am wondering how i will make the jump from 8 mins solid running to 20 mins for run 3 but will see how it goes in a few days time.

I hope everyone else had a good weekend

greenlotus · 20/09/2010 12:38

I did week 5 run 3 yesterday (the 20 minute one). I had to stop for literally a few seconds a couple of times to catch breath but it was possible and I was over the moon that I'd done it. I'm glad to see that week 6 starts off with intervals again though.

lindaloopyloo · 21/09/2010 21:46

vnmum, just remember on week 5 to get to 20 mins all you'll being doing is not taking the 4 min break btn your 2 eight min runs so all you're doing is an extra 4 mins. Like Robert says, you can do it, good job!

vnmum · 22/09/2010 09:40

well i haven't managed to run for a few days as now thanks to DS bringing germs home from school i know have a cold and it is starting to go on my chest again. I am hoping it doesn't turn into a chest infection. So i may end up having to repeat week 4 or first run of week 5 depending in how long i'm laid up with this cold.

Loujalou · 25/09/2010 08:04

Right am back. Will go running tomorrow with DH. I will I will I will!

Vn I hope you are better soon.

vnmum · 25/09/2010 15:33

thanks Lou,

I am thinking i might try the first run of week 5 sometime next week and see how i get on. Just bought my copy of womens running magazine so that always motivates me

Loujalou · 29/09/2010 14:30

Running magazine you say.... Mmmm.... Maybe I should get one of those or a book about running to help me along. Obsessed. Moi??

OP posts:
vnmum · 29/09/2010 14:49

Its quite good, with training plans and kits etc but no too keen IYKWIM. Not that i'm trying to encourage your obsession at all Grin

vnmum · 04/10/2010 12:03

i've just done week 5 run 1 today after 2 weeks off and i managed it ok, will do it again tomorrow then do run 2 on wednesday. i'm on a mission to get to my goal weight and be able to tun 5k comfortably by xmas.

as sad as it might sound, this year, i actually want to be one of those people you see out running on christmas morning or boxing day, enjoying the peace and quiet

Loujalou · 05/10/2010 12:56

Am going to do week 5 day 2 again today.

Pixie are you still around.
