Right I need some moral support as I fancy giving this a go to lose weight. Anyone else fancy joining in?

I am going to keep going. I never thought I could do five mins and I did. If I struggle I might go back to week 4 but nearly stayed on week 3 last week. But apart from yesterday's brief stop I did it.

I'm struggling to get out, my husband has been away this week and I've had no childcare. Am seriously tempted to try it by doing circuits of our garden tonight - but we have a fairly small garden Sad

Loujalou · 02/09/2010 18:22

Pixie that is rubbish - how dare he be out when you need to run Grin

I know, just as I'd promised myself to make a go of it this week, did wonder if I could leave the dc in front of TV if I only ran up & down our street but youngest is just 2.5 so decided against it Sad

Loujalou · 02/09/2010 18:51

I am quite lucky. I work from home and ds is at nursery all day Thursday so go then and Tuesday when my mum does childcare. Then that leaves the weekend.

Don't fret you can carry on. Is there no friend you could get to come over and then return the favour. If you don't go to the gym then you only need half an hour of help.

Yay, just got back from day 1 week 4. I really thought about repeating week 3, but my sister came along and said just give it a go. I did and ran all the runs and an extra sprint at the end. I'm so pleased, though I have to say having someone to run with makes all the difference for me.

Angrypixie- sorry you can't do much this week. Trying to think of an alternative, but have drawn a blank I'm afraid.

Loujalou · 03/09/2010 08:30

Pixie I am doing Jillian Michael's 30 day shred but not every day and that is quite good. You can do some exercise when the kids are sleeping or whenever you can fit it in. Then at least I am going to do some exercise when manshape is away. Its only for 20 minutes and is hard work. You can get it on amazon.

Hooray, completed day 3 of week 5. It was a 20min run!! Did it and amazingly it was easier than any run Ive done before on this program. I was really surprised when he said we were half way through. Honestly, it is easier now. Weigh in tomorrow. Not too hopeful as pigged out on roast dinners, and my husband's latest: chocolate sauce made from peanut butter, cream, golden syrup and melted choc (blame Nigella)and it's delicious.

pantaloons · 03/09/2010 22:26

well done likelylady, I'm a week behind, but am surprised at what I can do!

On the weight front I have lost just over 4lb and an inch off each thigh! Yay.

Loujalou · 05/09/2010 10:15

I just did week 5 day 2 and it wasn't so horrific. Not sure how you get from there to day 3 likelylady. Please yell me its possible. Am all puffed out.

How the rest if you doing? Pixie you manage to get tour dh to babysit?

hi can i join. i'm doing the podcast too. i did actually started in january after buying a treadmill in the sales but got to the end of week 4 (which took till july due to repeating weeks, weeks off with illness etc, sounds crap doesnt it, lol)then in july was hospitalised with pneumonia (i have asthma too which didnt help). anyway i felt up to starting again a few weeks ago and started at week 2. i was doing the runs on 3 consecutive days with a day off to try and progress quicker so i completed 2 weeks worth of runs in one week.

I had completed week 3 and was due to do week 4 starting on friday but i was away from home and had to run outside for the first time so stuck to week 3 for a few extra days. i actually found the time went quicker running outside than on the treadmill but with the treadmill i can fit it in around the kids easier coz they can be watching tv for 30 mins while i run in next room.

i'm due to start week 4 today but didnt have time this morning (DS's first day at school) but my knees are aching abit after running outside (i think it was my bad technique and the uneven track i was running on)so i am trying to motivate myself to get it done.

I am also trying to lose weight and am doing SW at the same time.

sorry for the waffle and i'm hoping you lot can keep me motivated to complete it this time

Loujalou · 07/09/2010 10:37

Welcome Vnmum welcome to our den.

Am supposed to be doing week 5 day 3 today but am completely sleep deprived so might do it on Thursday instead. Argh!! Not the sort of running you want to do when you just wanna sleep.

Hiya
Can I join Have done my 1st run for week 1 on Sunday and hoping to get out tomorrow morning for run 2.

You are all doing so well. Have you noticed much weight going?

Loujalou · 07/09/2010 12:23

Welcome Shortandsweet I think I am slimming down - my bras are definitely roomier (they are still huge though) and my tummy is not as flabby. I don't weigh myself per se but people have been commenting on how good I have been looking.

OP posts:
vnmum · 07/09/2010 17:38

I didnt manage a run yesterday but have done first run of week 4 this afternoon. It wasnt as hard as i thought it would be but I did struggle with the last minute of the 2nd 5 min run but I battled through. My knees are abit achey now though. I do feel good coz I managed it though so will see how I do on the second run.

likelylady · 07/09/2010 21:04

Loujalou, you'll surprise yourself. Really all your doing is not taking that 4 minute break after the first 8 min run. So really you're doing the 16 mins plus 4 mins which is your twenty mins. It's just 4 mins extra running. I did week 6 day 1 and found it harder because of having to stop and start. good luck!

shortandsweet2 · 08/09/2010 16:55

I did day 2 of week 1 this morning. I have gotten so unfit :(

You are all heaps a head of me and doing so well.

Loujalou · 09/09/2010 08:31

Argh am gutted am so not feeling very well and have to take some time out to recover. Hopefully by Sat I will be feeling better and able to run again. Its just a really sore throat and bad cough but its crippled me.

Loujalou · 09/09/2010 08:33

Keep going Shortandsweet I too felt like it was hard work at the beginning. In fact I still find it hard work. Think I will be going back to week 5 day 2 when I get better as week 5 day 3 is a killer.

OP posts:
shortandsweet2 · 09/09/2010 10:30

Lou my DD has just had that. Started at the weekend and the cough is still hanging around. Hope you fell better soon

vnmum · 09/09/2010 14:01

Just completed week 4 run 2, with a smile on my face coz I didnt struggle as much at the end. I felt such a sense of achievement. It felt hard for about the first 3 and a half minutes then I seemed to get in a rythem and it felt easier, then it was time to stop. It felt the same on both 5 min runs.
The funny thing is I hated running at school and always thought I was rubbish at it but I think that was because you were just thrown in and told to run cross country or 800m without any gradual build up. If the games teachers had done this programme with the class I probably would have enjoyed running from amuch earlier age and maybe if it was done in schools now more kids would enjoy it and keep fit and healthy

AngryPixie · 10/09/2010 06:28

Finally I managed a run and am trying to get my mojo back. Am going to sit down with DH at the weekend and plan in my runs a week ahead, he's always v willing to look after the dc but his work has been a bit chaotic for the last few weeks.

Anyway week 3 run 2 completed, felt like a bit of a struggle but I know that it's because I'm not getting the cumulative benefit because the gaps between runs has been too long Sad

I also went to slimming world yesterday because I'm aware that I've put on weight during the summer and there is only 16 weeks 'til Christmas Grin

Welcome to everyone I haven't spoken to, I'm not so far ahead of you shortandsweet, keep going one an all, get better soon loujalou

Loujalou · 10/09/2010 08:54

Am feeling better today so might go for a run later or tomorrow morning. Though am going to day 2 of week 5 again as I haven't run for a week.

Angry its lovely to have you back.
