July 2026 Mounjaro starters

BritbirdUK · 28/06/2026 11:49

I started my mounjaro journey this weekend (Friday) but thought I would start a July thread as it is so close to the start of the new month.

My background - I love good food. My issue isn't necessary that I eat the wrong stuff it is just that I eat too much. I enjoy nice restaurants, Michelin stars and cooking from scratch. But my portion control is terrible. I overeat, regret it and can't leave food on my plate. I also run a food and drink related business. And I make excuses.

In the past I have lost large amounts of weight but this time I have struggled. Peri menopause, going through an adult ADHD diagnosis, a herniated disc (twice) and running your own small business isn't always conducive to WL. I was approved last year for Mounjaro via my GP and then, after my appointment, there were changes and it was pulled. It set me back massively and then, after some big bills at work, I just didn't feel like I could justify the costs and tried, but failed, to lose weight just by dieting.

Recently I went back to my GP and they did some tests and after a few different appointments I was fortunate enough to be approved again and given a prescription last week. I had my first jab on Friday and am determined to make a difference, change my mindset and get back to enjoying life again. There is a long way to go but I am taking one day at a time.

Hopefully there will be some other July starters here and we can support each other, share tips etc.

@DaringlyDizzy that’s strange. I know the drug doesn’t work for everyone and possibly you need a higher dose. Have you had any side effects or evidence of suppression? Regardless of the drug, 1000 calories a day is a low intake so you’d expect to see something. What is your height and weight? Are you weighing everything and using a calorie tracker?

LivelyCyanPombear · 03/09/2026 10:36

I have reordered at 2.5mg as my appetite suppression is still high and some days I am struggling to eat a lot. I successfully made it to 4 strength training classes and really enjoying it! Lost no weight last week due to muscle water retention but just lost 2.5lb so very happy.

SW 15st 7lb
CW 13st 8lb
GW 10st ish

@DaringlyDizzy this seems counterproductive but sometimes when I have had a stall I have eaten a bit more (for a day or two) and that has actually helped break the stall. 1000cal is very low so this might help?

AelinAG · 03/09/2026 11:32

This is week 9 for me.
SW 150.6lb
CW 141.3lb
GW 125lb

Long way to go! I’m hoping to see under 139 at my next weigh in on Sunday, I think that will really motivate me.

My (IVF experienced) sister recommended pinching the skin as I injected. Since I started doing that I’ve not had any bruises.

Interesting, I’ve been doing the opposite. Will try that next week.

Thanks.

Another IVF allum, I do this and no bruising!

Same. Apparently you’re not meant to pinch the skin with Mounjaro but old habits die hard! Zero bruising.

I grab a handful of tummy fat - there’s maybe 2” between thumb and forefinger.

MammaGnomes · 03/09/2026 17:22

Has anyone switched providers and been accepted now bmi is lower? I haven’t tried yet but looking on monj.uk there are quite a few cheaper options than what I’m currently paying to bolt

DaringlyDizzy · 03/09/2026 18:32

Thanks for the replies!
I am a slightly odd scenerio - I randomly started putting weight on after my son. I had every investigation going including monitoring in my sleep incase I was sleep snacking! No cause found but I piled 7 stones on. I started restricting to 1300kcal max and it stabilised.

I was reccommended the jab as to overcome insulin resistance which one of my autoimmune illnesses can cause.

It worked for a while and I lost 2st. Now 3 weeks and not an ounce different.

Apetite is HUGELY supressed - I struggle to get the 1000cal in which is why I have stayed at 2.5mg

I am jogging 15 min, 3 times a week and weight training too. 3 weeks without a single ounce down is really really hard to look past

ChocolateIsBad · 04/09/2026 08:42

There can be lots of reasons why the scales aren’t moving. You can still be losing fat but water retention can be masking it.

Given you’ve lost 2 stone already with Mounjaro means it has worked for you. I wouldn’t cut your calories any more and I’d recommend taking to your prescriber.

Given your history, reasons could be complex as to why scales not moving.

ChocolateIsBad · 04/09/2026 08:54

Took dose 9 of 2.5mg yesterday. Started 3 July.

Starting weight was 166.8 pounds
Current weight is 152.3

VimtoPrincess · 04/09/2026 16:57

I have just done jab number 9 on 2.5ml and I am a bit nervous about moving up to 5ml. I was the same before I started 2.5ml but I haven't had any side effects apart from a bit of constipation. Has anyone moved straight up to 5ml with no problems?? I feel its a bit like childbirth where you only hear the horror story's.
I don't know if I could work out the click counting method of using a dose between 2.5 and 5ml but I'm worried about going straight to 5ml. I need to move up though because the food noise is creeping back.

BritbirdUK · 04/09/2026 17:10

Been a while since I posted - life got busy. Still having steady W/L - am now 3 stone 8.8lbs down since the 26th June when I started. The past 2 weeks have been hard though. I have been a lot more hungry and thinking about food too much. Snacking has crept in and, when I have gone out, I have eaten a bit too much which has resulted in me feeling over full. I spoke to my Doctor today and my next pen will be 7.5 so hopefully that will curb the cravings.

Also, in case anyone is craving something sweet that actually tastes nice and is heavy on the protein I highly recommend trying the Muller x My Protein mousse. They are currently on 5 for £5 in Tesco and are only 170 calories and 20g protein for the pot. Someone else mentioned them to me and they are great for a mid-afternoon treat. I am a salted caramel girlie but the chocolate one was good as well.

I went straight to 5mg and was very sick on the first day and very nauseated for another 2 days. So the next week I counted 40 clicks instead and that was fine 🙂

I moved up to 5 last Sunday and have had no side effects so far, just a very suppressed appetite. I literally am having to force myself to eat even small amounts but am still managing to drink 2-3litres of water a day.
I started at 18st1lb at the beginning of July and weighed 15st 6lb this morning.

Wow, almost 3 stone off in 2 months is massive. I'm jealous

I have completely changed my whole lifestyle. I’ve started spending an hour on a walking pad each evening when the kids are all in bed to help keep things moving.
I also have an awful lot to lose, I want to get down to 9st ideally. So a long way to go yet but I’m happy how things are going.

Well done, that is fabulous, I'm sure you're buzzing!

RedFatball · 04/09/2026 21:00

I'm still plodding away on 3.3mg, 40 clicks from a 5mg pen. Weight loss steady at around 2lbs a week which is incredible. Hoping to get to 11st by Christmas which would be incredible. I'm 5'9" so that is well within the healthy range for me

Well done you.

I really need to up my exercise.

I’ve hit 10kg loss yesterday. Such a buzz to see it on the scales.

SW - 90kg
CW - 80kg
GW - 65kg

missedtherainbow · 06/09/2026 08:35

Official weigh in day for me (I had a sneaky early weigh in during the week)
9th jab due this evening
SW 18st 1lb
CW 15st 5lb
thats 5lb down this week!
GW - anything under 10st at the moment and then I will reassess
Its really give me a boost this morning, just 4lb off the 3stone mark.
I know it’s not the main point but I’m secretly hoping someone will notice soon and make a comment. I’ve not told anyone not even my husband or older kids. I can see myself that my clothes are definitely baggier and I have a lot more energy.
I’m off for a long walk pushing youngest uphill in his wheelchair so a bit of resistance and cardio this morning 🤞
Hope everyone is feeling good!

JuicyPie · 06/09/2026 13:45

My weigh day too and 2lbs off this week (although I didnt jab till Wednesday due to working nights)
SW 13st 12lbs
CW 12st 4lbs
GW 10st

Have had a couple of people ask me if I have lost weight and it definitely makes you think this is worth it!!

purplepie1 · 07/09/2026 07:39

Weigh in day today - only 0.8lbs loss this week.
11lbs off since starting MJ.
SW 14st
CW 13st 3 lbs
GW 12 st
As I mentioned before I started dieting before Mounjaro and have now lost a total of 1 st 7lbs.

MammaGnomes · 07/09/2026 07:43

I’ve lost another 1lb this week. Total loss is 20lb so 1lb shy of 1 and a half stone. I’m really happy with the progress. It’s been a steady 1-2lb loss weekly and I’m still on 2.5

ive had 3 different people tell me I look great this weekend which is a real boost. Saw my best friend and let her in on the secret. Was a bit nervous on how she would react as she talked me out of it last summer but she was great and really supportive.

my next goal is to drop another 8lb before the end of October which I’m hoping I can achieve with my 1lb a week losses. And then I’ll want another stone off before Christmas

SW 13st 7
CW 12st 1
GW 10st 7 - almost half way there

Forgot to add that I have now lost 10% of my starting weight.

tried slimming world a few years ago and didn’t get anywhere close to this.

Some great losses ladies! Well done!!

Been a bit up and down last few weeks. Still at 15lb loss which I think is incredible.

I’ve got my last 2.5 jab tonight and then into 5. I would love to get down to under 13 before my holiday in October.

I am tempted to try and got up to 3.75 this eve to make the transition to 5 a bit easier, I’ve got spare needles as boots always gives 5. Would I just do 1 injection and then count clicks and do another one half the clicks?

I don’t feel like I look any smaller but my jeans are less tight and defo gone down a belt loop which is great!

SW: 14st 5.5lb
CW: 13st 4.5lb
