Got mine on preorder…. I’m excited and a little apprehensive… have two stone to lose.

Day 5 here and not really any nausea or tummy issues. I did jave a headache one day but that may have been the heat.
I am not sure if it is changing my hunger, I still feel hungry and eat a full plate. I have seen a decrease in snacking.
I did read that it can kill the craving for other things like alcohol and there is hope it will be used for addiction as well.
Will weigh at the weekend and report back.

Florabella · 15/07/2026 12:53

Day 5 here too. Still hungry. No side effects, but pretty sure I won’t have lost anything this week

dolphin17 · 15/07/2026 13:00

I’m thinking its early days, my understanding is the 1.5 dose is meant to be getting us used to the medication. Anyone on here used the higher dose 4mg or know someone who has? Did it kick in to stop the hunger/ want to eat/ feeling full? Basically the same as the jabs.

Chickadeeinme · 15/07/2026 13:26

I've been on the 4mg dose since early May (started the 1.5mg dose in early March) and it definitely has more of an effect, and it's a bit cumulative I think - I notice it more now than I did at first.

MrsBoomers · 15/07/2026 14:20

I’m on day 6 and appetite feels normal today after a day of nausea and low appetite yesterday. Frustrating but as above trying to see this as early days and too early to judge!
Reassuring to hear 4mg had more affect.

thanks for the info, glad to hear it’s more effective,

So did you stay on 1.5 for March and April? I'm trying to decide if it will be ok to do two months on 1.5 (or completely pointless). I'm on holiday mid Aug and my switch to 4 would be 3 days before a travel - I don't want to risk feeling sick/not wanting to eat anything but I also don't want to pay ££s for something that may do nothing by then

Florabella · 15/07/2026 18:12

Fingers crossed the 4mg will work better

Chickadeeinme · 15/07/2026 18:52

@Roundisashape I was on the 1.5mg dose for 2 months, then went onto the 4mg dose. I have really had no side effects though so nausea and headache hasn't been an issue. I haven't been not-hungry enough to not-eat, but I have been not-hungry enough not to eat more than works for trying to lose weight. I've been losing 4-5lb a month, even when I was only on the 1.5mg dose. I'm currently 23lb down since the beginning of March, and down from XL to L, which is very cheering

Roundisashape · 15/07/2026 19:29

Thanks @Chickadeeinme. Sounds really positive and makes me feel better about taking it slow and easy. I only feel sick when I take the actual tablet (there's something about the taste of it). So hopefully I'll follow in your footsteps.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 15/07/2026 19:41

Day 6, I’ve put on 1lb! Craving carbs and sugar and not wanting anything ‘good’.
don’t know whether to quit

SilenceInside · 15/07/2026 19:45

@Twoshoesnewshoes why would you quit after only 6 days? The medication builds in your system each time you take it and the starting dose isn’t intended to produce weight loss for most people. A 1 lb “gain” isn’t necessarily going to be an actual gain, it could be a normal fluctuation, scale inaccuracies and so on. I’d want to give it at least a month before thinking about whether it was working as intended. Longer actually, given that’s when you’d move onto the 4mg dose.

AprilFlowersMay · 15/07/2026 19:59

@Twoshoesnewshoes the starting dose is not meant to be the "therapeutic dose" it's to get your body used to it to lessen side effects. It is true that the lower doses work for some people, but don't write it off in the phase of getting you up to what is considered a therapeutic dose! Hang in there. Have you had any side-effects?

It shows how different people are. I have been on the injections for a couple of years, over a year in maintenance, I’m really proud of it. I tell everyone who asks.

I took control of my health, you still need to diet and exercise on them to do it properly, I earn enough I can afford them, and I researched and discussed with my family and gp before taking the first step.

so I’m proud of it. I’m proud my blood test results are all healthy, all health issues resolved, from sleep apnea to high blood pressure. I’m proud of my size 8, bmi 20 frame which looks athletic and with visible muscle definition. I’m proud that my skin looks great, my jaw line firm, exercise, protein, moisturising, hydration, all making that feasible.

I didn’t feel proud of my size 18 body. My big tummy, my wobbly arse, my fat limbs, my double chins, the way I dressed to disguise, I didn’t feel proud of my health issues and the fact I was failing to resolve them.

i see no shame in it, just pride. I made an educated decision, an investment in my health, I resolved all my health issues. And I did it right, a clean healthy diet, working out most days, consuming the right macros ie always the right amount of protein, I protected my muscle and lost fat.

I did that. The drugs don’t do it for you. So I’m proud of it. Not ashamed.

Can I ask how I would know the right macros, protein etc?

LuckyCharmz · 16/07/2026 07:20

End of week 1. I’ve stuck to a low carb/ high protein diet, as I would do any time I was hoping to lose weight. No nausea or side effects. Feel slightly less hungry than I usually would so first week of a diet but still had to use will power. Still had evening sugar cravings and have had a bit of chocolate.
I’ve lost 4lbs which is double what I have ever lost on any diet in week 1, in my 40 + years of dieting, including weight watchers, slimming world, low carb etc (I’ve done them all), so very happy with the result.
My conclusion is the pill is definitely making my metabolism more effective than dieting without, as my intake is comparable with any week one food intake I have done previously.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 16/07/2026 08:53

@AprilFlowersMay @SilenceInside yes you’re right, I will stick with it - I guess I’m worried that I do have a side effect which is the sugar cravings, it is intense and I don’t usually have a sweet tooth.
ill give it another week to see if it wears off.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 16/07/2026 08:57

Just had a quick google and sugar and carb cravings on Wegovy is a thing…
there’s another thread on here about 24hour fasting, I think I’ll try that if this doesn’t settle.

Roundisashape · 16/07/2026 11:43

@Twoshoesnewshoes I asked Joy of Voy. She also confirmed it was sometimes a thing..she suggested I eat some fruit instead - glad I'm paying a premium for such insightful and helpful guidance 🤣

Twoshoesnewshoes · 16/07/2026 12:13

@Roundisashape lol! I can try that , thanks- it’s chocolate and carby sugars I want unfortunately, it’s annoying me now!

Roundisashape · 16/07/2026 12:18

@Twoshoesnewshoes I'm right there with you. I've lost any real interest in actual food, chocolate has completely taken it's place. And now I've gained confidence that I'm not going to feel sick I'm eating it with gusto

Twoshoesnewshoes · 16/07/2026 15:35

Ahhh @Roundisashape exactly that!
oof
im giving it one more week
if not I will give the rest to my great aunt, we can’t get her to eat enough 😂

Laska2Meryls · 17/07/2026 09:45

Anyone else experiencing a lessening of taste in food? I don't mind, because it contributes to making me want to eat less, but I seem to be adding more salt and black pepper/Worcestershire sauce /chilli to things like my breakfast eggs...
I am really surprised at just how less/(un)hungry I am ( especially as we doing so much coastal path and hill walking on this trip) . I will need to reorder next week wondering whether to stay on 1.5mg for another month . But its another week before I get home from holiday and can weigh again to see if I have a loss ( but if course I do want to see the weight drop off!)

Mariettta · 17/07/2026 11:55

I think if you are getting good hunger suppression and you are losing weight you may as well stay on the same dose. That's what I've decided to do anyway.

Chickadeeinme · 17/07/2026 13:51

I think the way to manage chocolate/sugar cravings isn't to do without but find a way of building it in and managing it.

Just to quote my own way of doing it (and YMMV of course) I find that genuinely because of the pill I'm less tempted to snack, but maybe one or two days a week I'll eat a McVities dark chocolate digestive with my afternoon cup of tea - 80 calories for one biscuit so quite manageable in a regime where I'm sticking to 1300-1500 calories a day. In our household Saturday night is movie night at home, and we have Saturday night chocolate to go with it. Current favourite is Lindt chocolate truffle balls - 3 is 160 calories, so manageable if I keep the rest of the day's calories around 1300. I'm not losing weight fast - 4-5lb a month - and there are weeks when nothing much happens weight-wise, but it is steady.
We tend to mainly have fruit for dessert, with a splodge of light whipped spray cream, so there is sweetness there too, and 1 tsp sugar if I need it is only 16 calories.

Florabella · 17/07/2026 14:49

Day 7 today and I finally feel less hungry. I also can’t work out anything that I actually really fancy to eat. Also, somehow I seem to have lost 3lbs this week. So at least I am feeling more motivated now.
