Got mine on preorder…. I’m excited and a little apprehensive… have two stone to lose.

Ive lost 6 stone on mounjaro and Id like to take these for maintenance.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 17/06/2026 06:16

I looked into it, but they cost the same as the injection so I still can’t afford it. Thought they were supposed to be cheaper as they are a lot cheaper to make

I imagine the manufacturer still wants to make huge profits. They wouldn't want people moving from injections because of a cheaper price.

I imagine the manufacturer still wants to make huge profits. They wouldn't want people moving from injections because of a cheaper price.

But they will want to get more customers and increase market share, plus the likely hood is the tablets are much cheaper to make, so they can make the same margin at a lower price point to the user. So it’s a delicate balancing act.

RubyRedAndGertieGreen · 17/06/2026 07:24

@Thebigonesgetaway you are absolutely right, that's how I should be looking at it. Thank you for framing it that way. And congratulations on your weight loss, that's incredible! You must feel amazing Smile

Can I ask what the process was for signing up? Do they require a video call and do they inform your gp?

Just the usual questionnaire - height and weight, have I tried weight loss meds before etc. Chemist4U does inform your GP - I initially ticked "no" and it wouldn't let me proceed! They require a front facing photo, side profile and copy of photo ID.

That’s true, but we should be able to provide both sides of that, so people can think about why they feel shame.

by definition we were fat. Everyone could see we were fat. Fat is not hidden, it’s visible ro all. So everyone knew we couldn’t do it alone. It was not some secret. Few people chose to be fat. Few people looked at us and thought we must be loving it or didn’t care.

Show me a fat person and I will show you a person who can’t get the weight off and who desperately wants to. Show me a fat person and I will show you a person with mounting health issues due to it.

My own shame was I was in that position, I couldn’t get out of it. There was no shame for me in curing it, that I do feel pride round. I achieved it, and in a healthy manner. I felt shame and embarassment that I had got fat, it was making me unwell, and I couldn’t fix it. I wasn’t lazy, I wasn’t stupid; I simply couldn’t overcome all the mental and physiological issues I had to, to fix it. I should not have felt shame, but I did, and i felt embarrassed by my size, by fat rolls.

every one who tries these drugs has tried every diet going. No one does this as the first resort. It’s always the last resort. Taking an educated decision to take a medication to enable you to get back to full health, is never something we should feel shame about.

so id urge anyone feeling shame to examine why, why do they think it’s shameful to take a med to cure an issue? Why do they feel doing it without is the only way, and anything else is shameful

I've been on MJ for 20 months. Lost close to 9 stone. Have more to lose but my life has already changed beyond recognition. I'm not ashamed of taking WLI but don't believe it to be anybody else's business apart from my GP and my very close family.

My DH is also in WLI. He's lost less weight than me but again it's helping him to transform his health. He tells everyone that he's on them 🤣

CoffeeBooksRats · 17/06/2026 08:51

Thank you all for your replies! We should have a thread for when we all get our pills so we can support each other.

After decades of yo-yo dieting I’ve realised I just can’t manage this on my own. The final straw for me a week ago was when I could finally no longer get my wedding and engagement ring on my fat finger 😭

I hadn’t wanted to do injections - though I know many people who have and I was certainly tempted to - but the pills feel somehow less daunting and more accessible.

I wish all of you the best with your journeys, I’m a little apprehensive but also excited to get on with it!

I was considering changing to the pills for maintenance when I reach goal. Thinking about it though, when I start to reduce doses I may stick to buying high-dose pens and taking a smaller amount from it, which makes the overall cost less. Similarly, I may get to the point where I choose to take less than 2.5mg. I won't be able to do either of those things with a fixed dose tablet. So I may stick with injections to keep the flexibility I personally want.

PurpleThistle7 · 17/06/2026 11:52

I'm wavering - never done any of the WL meds but clearly am failing at getting on top of it on my own. I was hoping the pills would be a bit more affordable but still looking like £150/ish a month which is a stretch for me.

With Chemist4U you have to re-apply each month I think? So one of the subscription ones seems easier. Just can't quite pull the trigger on spending that kind of money...

Yes it's disappointing that they're not cheaper than the injections, they must surely be less costly to produce... Though I understand why they wouldn't want people to come off the injections in favour of less expensive pills.

I didn't realise you had to reapply to Chemist4U every month, I'm sure I didn't read that when I signed up... I better go and check! The first two doses are £99 with them, but rising to £199. It's a lot of money!

SilenceInside · 17/06/2026 12:10

Every pharmacy requires you to fill out a consultation each month as each month is a new prescription. The subscription services make assumptions about the next month’s prescription and will auto fill it and prescribe the next strength dose to you unless you tell them any different. Subscription services also tend to be significantly more expensive for the second and subsequent months, so if you sign up to one check you know what the price is going to be each month. And how/when to cancel, and if there’s a cancellation charge.

Yetanotherone12 · 17/06/2026 14:51

I have submitted my photos and waiting clinician review.

now I’ve made the decision I’ll be devastated if they refuse. I don’t even care about the money, I want my life and my body back and free from this constant fighting against hunger and food.

Yetanotherone12 · 17/06/2026 16:31

I have been approved!! I actually weighed myself this am and my bmi is actually about 28 as I’ve put half a stone on in the last two weeks.

eta 8/9 July. Can’t wait now, just hope it works!

RubyRedAndGertieGreen · 17/06/2026 16:46

@Yetanotherone12 when did you apply? I've been waiting over 24 hours now (I know it says up to 48, but I'm anxious!)
My BMI is under 30, but I do have high blood pressure so I'm hoping they'll approve...

Yetanotherone12 · 17/06/2026 16:51

I did the form last night then did my ID and photo about 1pm today.

that’s with voy. I now have a referral code for £60 off if anyone needs it.

the app looks useful.

RudolphTheReindeer · 17/06/2026 17:00

I didn't know there were tablets, this is tempting. So you do an online type consultation and they send them to you if eligible? Can you swap
around to take advantage of offers? How long do you need to take them for?

If it's like the injections, re-applying just means telling them your weight and confirming nothing else has changed, I didn't have to submit photos for my second pen on MJ (I have only had 2)

FFSItsTooHot · 17/06/2026 17:13

Watching this thread with interest. I am currently using Wegovy injections. The only reason I'd change to a pill would be because it is cheaper! Anyone know how the prices compare?

It's the same process for the Wegovy tablets as for the Wegovy (or Mounjaro) injections. The same eligibility criteria apply, and you fill out the weight loss consultation form online in the same way. If you are new to taking prescription weight loss medication, the pharmacies will offer you the injections or the new Wegovy tablet, and you can choose which to go for.

Yes you can change to another pharmacy for a better offer, that's very common.

You can take them for as long as necessary to lose the weight and then to maintain your weight loss. So it depends on how much weight you need to lose, and whether you feel you need to stay on them to maintain the weight loss. Many people do, as regain is typical when you stop taking them. m

you navigate to the seller of your choice and they’ll ask for height/weight, then various medical questions, standard to you have x,y, z condition, any medications etc. then some lifestyle stuff, do you exercise, how long have you been struggling with weight. Why do you want to lose weight, what’s your goal.

i was pretty honest. I’m 5’3 and 11.5 stone so not obese but heading in that direction. Like I said earlier I think I have hypermobility and my joints are suffering, but I wasn’t directly asked, it was just a tick box to say “avoid future issues or improve current ones”

you get your initial acceptance, then you have to upload ID, and a full length photo in fitted clothes. This is to verify that your BMI matches your physical appearance. Again I was honest and sent a photo of me today.

then a physician reviews everything and approves. Got my approval a couple of hours later and will be charged on dispatch.

obviously the longer you sign up the cheaper per month it is so I have the 6 month plan. You can pause, reassess dose and tailor as you go.

It shows how different people are. I have been on the injections for a couple of years, over a year in maintenance, I’m really proud of it. I tell everyone who asks.

I took control of my health, you still need to diet and exercise on them to do it properly, I earn enough I can afford them, and I researched and discussed with my family and gp before taking the first step.

so I’m proud of it. I’m proud my blood test results are all healthy, all health issues resolved, from sleep apnea to high blood pressure. I’m proud of my size 8, bmi 20 frame which looks athletic and with visible muscle definition. I’m proud that my skin looks great, my jaw line firm, exercise, protein, moisturising, hydration, all making that feasible.

I didn’t feel proud of my size 18 body. My big tummy, my wobbly arse, my fat limbs, my double chins, the way I dressed to disguise, I didn’t feel proud of my health issues and the fact I was failing to resolve them.

i see no shame in it, just pride. I made an educated decision, an investment in my health, I resolved all my health issues. And I did it right, a clean healthy diet, working out most days, consuming the right macros ie always the right amount of protein, I protected my muscle and lost fat.

I did that. The drugs don’t do it for you. So I’m proud of it. Not ashamed.

Love this, needed to hear this today! Are you going to rename yourself the tiny one?!

I've thought about it but Mounjaro is working really well for me and as the wegovy pills apparently won't be any cheaper, I can't see the point.
