When you come off I think it’s quite likely that your weight will fluctuate for a few weeks. It might scare the heck out of you. I think the important thing is to keep doing what worked for you over the past year, even if you plateaued for some of it. Keep exercising and eating sensible foods- it has to settle down. Just don’t let yourself spiral into “oh well I might as well give up” mode.

MyScaredCat · 24/07/2026 14:48

I’m on a holiday right now and my clothes are incredibly uncomfortable. I reckon I could have 10lbs on 🙈
I’ve been off MJ and maintained well for ages. Will be a serious test to get back on track in a few days when I’m home. Especially as I’ll be away again in just 3 weeks. Need to undo this damage first and not pile more on top

FlorenceNightshade · 24/07/2026 16:48

@MyScaredCat how long have you been away for? I’m sure you have to consistently eat way way above your maintenance calories to gain even 1 pound of fat never mind 10 so surely a lot of that would be water! When you factor in travelling, change in climate, change in what you’re eating and when you’re eating it I’m sure any gain won’t be that high!

I’ve decided I’m not buying anymore pens I have one 5mg unopened and had 7 microdoses out of a 2.5mg with about the same again left. Today I hit 64.9kg which feels good and low enough under my goal of 67.4 to have a decent buffer. I’ll probably start spacing my doses out more too but I feel the time has come to try!

Logically I know you’re right. I can’t do that much damage in 2 weeks. Our heads never work that way do they?!
it’s also TOTM so I’m feeling like a balloon which doesn’t help.
thanks x

Gingercar · 24/07/2026 18:59

I think the biggest thing we have to get our heads around at goal
is to not beat ourselves up for occasionally enjoying life and putting a little on. My slim friends do this regularly- but just get back to eating healthy and working out. No drama, just matter of fact.

Megsdaughter · 24/07/2026 22:14

We are off on holiday first week in September and I am detirmined not to put any weight on but still have a good time. We are All Inclusive as well. Will restrict myself to one ice cream a day, stay off the fresh juice during the day so that I can have a couple of mocktails in the evening ( I dont drink alcohol). Fruit and yogurt for breakfast, salad for lunch and then whatever I want fir dinner.

Or that is the plsn anyway 😁

Must keep up the water and I have finally got the constipation under control so taking prunes with me.

HKG · 25/07/2026 01:05

Oh folks, I’ve just read another thread about people starting HRT and it causing an average of a few lbs-5 lbs gain for most women. Does anyone know anything about or experienced this? I’ve put on two lbs this week and I started the gel two weeks ago and now the progesterone tablets three nights ago. Could this be the cause given I’ve not changed anything else???

ElsieJay · 25/07/2026 11:43

Good morning, everyone !
Slightly cooler here this morning, and a slight breeze which is very welcome.
Loss of 3.5lbs yesterday so that’s half of the holiday gain gone - though still 8lbs over my lowest weight, which I would prefer to be in the region of.

Bad news (from a weight loss perspective) is we’ve booked our flights for September - but am seriously considering taking “the kit” with me this time. Has anyone encountered any issues at airport security with this, please, and did you put all the paraphernalia in hand luggage or checked-in bags ?

Am very recently experimenting with whey protein - not sure I like it, it seems to have an odd smell and very little flavour ( bought Sci MX strawberry powder).
Tried it as a shake ( with water 🤨 - will try again with milk ) and adding a scoop to fat free cottage cheese, with a few fresh strawberries for colour and to improve the appearance .
Can’t say I enjoyed either 🤢 - so again , if anyone has any suggestions I’d be very grateful !
The cottage cheese “concoction “ ( can think of other descriptions , but that’s the polite version …) did give me a massive 32gms of protein for a mere 8gms of carbs - but couldn’t stomach it again to be honest.
Maybe half a scoop of the powder would have been better?
Any whey fans out there, please ?

Onwards and downwards, join in the fun and remember that together we are stronger.
Have a great weekend, mes copines !

HKG · 25/07/2026 11:50

Hey @ElsieJay ! I’m sipping my whey protein shake in the garden as we speak! Obvs just my opinion but it was pretty hit and miss for me trying a few different brands of protein powder till I hit on one I like (loads of them taste super chemically to me). I love the ProteinWorks brand, currently drinking the chocolate flavour but also am partial to banana and vanilla. I also add a bit of fruit and flaxseed for fibre and I make mine with coconut or almond milk. I found making it cold also helps so either freeze or fruit of pop a few ice cubes in.

I’ve never tried adding cottage cheese though, don’t think I’d like that! But then I don’t like dairy so that’s probably a me problem!😂

HKG · 25/07/2026 11:51

And congrats on the 3.5lbs!!!

ElsieJay · 25/07/2026 16:02

HKG · 25/07/2026 11:51

And congrats on the 3.5lbs!!!

Thanks, @HKG - and thanks for the tips on the whey protein too .

I’ll need to stick with the brand I have for now - as it was nearly £20 I’m loth to bin it - but will definitely try with almond milk , again that’s something I’ve never sampled .
It’s a shame the bags are so large, could be an expensive process until you find a brand and flavour you like.
Mixing it with cottage cheese is definitely a step too far - but that was at 8am and I’m still feeling full now !

Apprenante · 25/07/2026 18:50

Congratulations 🎊 on losing some of the holiday gain! But I'm sorry you're having to eat/drink something you don't enjoy @ElsieJay . That sounds like punishment.

I enjoy cottage cheese - the one called All Things Cottage Cheese - and that's about 10% protein. I can eat eggs in large quantities too so if I feel I need more protein they're my first choice rather than special drinks or powders.

I tried making an omelette the other day and putting loads of veg and a little bit of strong cheese in it. I left it to get cold, cut it in half, wrapped it up and ate it as a picnic lunch. It was great!

Gingercar · 25/07/2026 20:38

I love cottage cheese, but only Longley farm! I don’t mind their fat free stuff but it’s not much of a calorie saver so I eat the full fat. I wish I liked eggs, but we used to have loads of hens, and therefore eggs, and I think I overdid it. I only really like scrambled, which is full of butter!

DBatteryBand · 26/07/2026 06:53

Oh dear. I am on holiday and got a bit drunk carried away when out for dinner. I've been awake all night feeling Christmas-dinner-full and like I could be sick at any moment. It is entirely my own fault. Dinner was delicious and I kept poking it into my mouth, long after the Mounjaro portcullis had descended. You'd think I would have learnt by now. And I know I can't eat chips (ate four enormous ones off my daughter's plate), bread (pushed in great chunks of focaccia) or anything rich (belly pork chunks with chilli and all sorts of deliciousness) and yet I had the lot. And that was before I ate my actual dinner. My poor tummy! I live mostly on chicken salad - my insides are outraged.

HKG · 26/07/2026 10:23

Oh @DBatteryBand ylu do make me laugh! You poor thing. The portcullis of Mounjaro, the outraged insides! Pure beauteous language!

mainline that water and either a long walk or lie very still! Praying it passes!

ElsieJay · 26/07/2026 10:39

Ouch, @DBatteryBand ! 🤢
Hope you’re feeling much better this morning. 💐 and a hug 🫂 of sympathy ! xx

Gingercar · 26/07/2026 10:58

Saw this on Facebook and thought of you guys..

Just don't repeat the experiment tonight!

Oh folks, I’ve just read another thread about people starting HRT and it causing an average of a few lbs-5 lbs gain for most women. Does anyone know anything about or experienced this? Heya 👋
I started HRT (gel) and progesterone a few months ago and it's coincided with a total stall in weight loss.
I'd googled it before starting, and results had said it should be really good alongside MJ... annoyingly it hasn't been my experience.

It's helped the brain fog and general perimenopausal rage 😁🤣 but not so much the weight loss!

Argh!

DBatteryBand · 27/07/2026 06:40

Thanks for your kind words and sympathy, all. I am pleased to report that after fasting for most of yesterday then eating a very sensible chicken, rice and raw veg dinner, the terribleness has passed.

I’ve had a long stall without being on HRT. It might just be a coincidence?

Yeah, absolutely it could be. But it does perfectly line up with dates and me wondering why everything I've been doing that's previously worked suddenly isn't.

Who knows eh. It feels like at this age there is always something new for women to deal with!

🤣

Gingercar · 29/07/2026 09:27

I hope that if it is, it settles once the hormones are used to it and starts working again. 🤞

Ive finally had a little scale movement this week- 2 lbs off after four weeks of nothing. That seems to be becoming a pattern over the last few months. But at least I know sitting the plateaus out does work. It took me 9 weeks to lose the first two stones, the last two stones have taken nine months!

ElsieJay · 29/07/2026 20:05

Congratulations on the loss, @Gingercar - hopefully that plateau is behind you now.

@SussexLass87 - fingers crossed the meds settle for you soon , I’ve no personal experience of HRT but sounds like for you the benefits outweigh (no pun intended) the stalling ?

@DBatteryBand - glad you’re back on an even keel !

No major updates from me - decided to up my dose yesterday to the full 5mg after two weeks counting clicks for 2.5mg.
Have spent much of today in bed with overwhelming tiredness and nausea , though the tiredness could be due to flipping frolicking foxes 🦊 in the early hours .
I weighed on my own unreliable scales and according to them have lost another pound since WW on Friday , so I’ll take that .
Will be glad when this UK heatwave comes to an end, not agreeing with me at all .

HKG · 29/07/2026 23:46

Guys, I don’t know what’s come over me but I’ve gone and bought a red swimsuit. Not a revealing one but red. After a lifetime of black and navy. And I’m not even at goal.

what on earth.
