I lost half a kilo. Not sure if I’ve eaten less. Lost my sister suddenly this week, so I guess a bit more stress than usual. And no time for walking/exercise.

im sure it will be back on tomorrow.

I’ve dropped to the 10mg to see if any difference to the 12.5 which I had poor results from.

have terrible sugar cravings. But no hunger.

Gingercar · 19/07/2026 13:55

@SignedUpAgain Im so sorry. That must have been able awful shock. Be kind to yourself. You must be feeling.

Sorry for your loss @SignedUpAgain be kind to yourself and take good care

@Gingercar totally anecdotally and without any science I’ve long been convinced that the four week thing with open pens is a load of s%#t! As a nurse when patients bring their own insulin pens into hospital we never ask them how long it’s been open for. Also working in the community you would see patients with umpteen pens in their fridges and multiple ones would be open at a time with no care given to how long each one lasted!

In the ward the vials of insulin would be date marked when opened and binned after a few weeks but not the pens so I’m really not convinced it’s a huge issue otherwise I feel there would be a bigger fuss made about it in a hospital setting! Never heard of any adverse event relating to this m.

Like I said just my personal opinion and I would never knowingly administer an out of date med to a patient. My own current pen has been open for about 9 weeks with no ill effects noted and it has about another 8 weeks of use left as I micro dose!

So sorry for your loss @SignedUpAgain. Look after yourself - losing weight will have to be a secondary consideration for a while. 💙

Gingercar · 19/07/2026 21:58

Thank you @FlorenceNightshade . Your opinion is reassuring.

HKG · 19/07/2026 23:10

@SignedUpAgain im so sorry to hear of your loss, what a shock. We lost my brother in law (my DH’s brother) suddenly a couple of years ago and it was impossible
to underestimate the impact. I hope you are able to find pockets of respite and support over the coming days and weeks. Sending huge love.

ElsieJay · 20/07/2026 06:36

@SignedUpAgain - Sorry to read your post, what an awful time for you .
Sending a virtual hug (( )) 💐 xx

TreesOfGreen99 · 20/07/2026 09:30

@SignedUpAgain so sorry for your loss x

SignedUpAgain · 20/07/2026 17:57

Thanks everyone - just reread my post and realise it seems so cold and matter of fact.

fact is she just dropped dead last week. No illness, nothing. Was found sitting outside at home in the sun reading a book ( nice way to go) .

I think iim still in shock. And not really believing it. She was only 65

thanks for all messages. This group is a real help for my MJ journey and more ❤️

Gingercar · 20/07/2026 19:49

I bet you’re in shock!! And nobody thought you sounded cold.
Like you say, a good way to go if it has to be, but so tough for everyone else to deal with.

Always hear if you need an ear or a shoulder. And the bereavement page on here has always been good for me when I’ve needed to talk.

SussexLass87 · 20/07/2026 20:52

Oh gosh - you don't sound cold at all. That must have been a terrible shock for you all.

SignedUpAgain · 20/07/2026 23:15

Thanks @Gingercar and @SussexLass87
it is definitely shock. A full week and haven’t cried yet.

Might have a look at bereavement. Never considered there’s a section for that.

ElsieJay · 21/07/2026 16:13

Please don’t think that, @SignedUpAgain .
As you say , a nice way for your sister , but
unimaginably awful for her family. xx

DBatteryBand · 21/07/2026 17:14

@SignedUpAgain what a terrible shock for you all. Look after yourself xxx

Apprenante · 21/07/2026 21:34

@SignedUpAgain How are you today? It's going to take a long while to accustom yourself to her loss. Don't expect too much of yourself or of other people. ❤

SignedUpAgain · 22/07/2026 23:58

Thanks everyone. Sorry did not mean to derail this thread.

We had the funeral today - it’s been over a week and I still haven’t cried. Most unlike me.

and then had to catch up with some family members who haven’t seen me for a while.
“oh tell me your secret, you’ve lost so much weight. How did you do it?’

how do you all handle that? I’m really not ready to tell everyone. Only my kids and partner and one friend know.

But Absolutely everyone always asking me?
bit sick of it to be honest.

FlorenceNightshade · 23/07/2026 05:58

Aww @SignedUpAgain how awful! Comments about a persons weight are pretty rude/thoughtless/potentially harmful even if “well-meaning” at the best of times but in the context of raw grief is so grim!!!

An answer like “my weight/diet/lifestyle is the last thing on my mind right now” would hopefully shut it down!

In general if someone comments to me I just say no secret just increased exercise or taking more care, being more mindful etc. I have also chosen not to tell anyone, my husband guessed after a while, so made a bit more of an effort to post running/walking/cycling selfies and most people assume that’s what I’ve done. Or at least they seem to - no one has really asked direct if I’ve used WLIs so I’ve not had to lie much!

You've not derailed anything, life happens and we’re here for it! Be kind to yourself, there’s no right way to deal with loss you just have to find your path.

DBatteryBand · 23/07/2026 07:13

@SignedUpAgain Your loss has happened so quickly it will take time to process. Just be kind to yourself and take it steady. We're here for you.

With regards to the comments, I am just brazen about using Mounjaro, but I know not everyone wants others to know. I just say, 'Oh, I've been using the jabs. They're brilliant' and then move the conversation on. If they ask anything further, I cut them off (nicely!) with a brief answer which I finish with, 'It's not very interesting, really. So tell me about your holiday' (or anything else I can think of to change the subject.). People are so nosy, aren't they?

Gingercar · 23/07/2026 18:30

Hope you’re doing ok @SignedUpAgain

Im still stuck on my plateau this week, in fact it went up a couple of lbs for a couple of days, but seems to be coming down again. I now have my cafe open 6 days a week for the summer and am standing next to my new range of ice creams, which are lush! I had punched a couple, but now I’ve noticed they’re nearly 200 calories a tub, it’s reined me in!!

HKG · 23/07/2026 21:55

@Gingercar stop punching ice cream!!!

actually not a bad way to avoid eating it…

Apprenante · 23/07/2026 22:30

@HKG if the ice cream was very hard punching it could be a new martial art?

@Gingercar I find I'm losing my taste for sweet things like ice cream and cake. Sadly this is not reflected on the scales. Cheese is not sweet ....

Medicine Marketplace have agreed that I can have another pen - 5mg as I told them that was what im currently taking. So thats another 2 months of MJ, plus a pen I already have. Amazingly the current price is about the same as the price I paid months ago.

HKG · 23/07/2026 22:35

@Apprenante as a previous martial artist trained in wing Chun (only 5 years though), I can safely say that yes, punching hard ice cream counts as a martial art!

Thats super news about the pen price, maybe a sign that the competition among providers is finally working?

I have spent the last two weeks gaining weight and I’m both gutted and terrified about what this means for regain when I finally come off cause I can’t afford to stay on. I had gone down to 5mg from 6.25 so I think I might give 7.5 a go for a month to see if I can get the last stone off. Turns out I’m not satisfied yet!

Apprenante · 23/07/2026 22:47

@HKG I don't really know what Wing Chun is but I'm very impressed.

Gingercar · 23/07/2026 22:56

Punching ice creams!! Why does my phone do this to me?? What was wrong with pinching! I need to wear my glasses more often.
