I hated the butterscotch flavour. I was a strawberry or banana girl. Interestingly most banana milkshakes at the cafe go to adults.

Apprenante · 22/05/2026 20:27

When I was a real teacher (rather a long time ago) I did a science experiment about taste. The children tried to distinguish between different angel delight flavours whilst blindfolded, so no colour cues. They couldn't, on the whole. So no one really has favourite flavours - just favourite colours.

I don't think H&S would allow this to happen nowadays. The allergies, the E numbers, the school healthy eating policy .....

DBatteryBand · 22/05/2026 21:01

I am smugly pleased, in that case, that my favourite colour is sophisticated beige. Very classy.

I have an innate horror of banana, @Gingercar unless it's an actual real, unadulterated banana. I was delighted when everyone started making banana bread in lockdown as it meant I wouldn't be obliged, as a confirmed Fat Biffer Cake-Eater at the time, to accept a slice and pretend it was nice. I'm sure that your concoctions are lush, though. I read your descriptions of your cakes with my nose pressed against the screen, and during your Cadbury's Mini Egg period considered volunteering my services as a sous chef.

Apprenante · 23/05/2026 09:39

@DBatteryBand I need the laughing response emoji for your 'sophisticated beige'.

Let's do a trip to Gingercar's café. I bet she makes excellent coffee. And we can bavarder en français whilst we eat cake drink .

SussexLass87 · 23/05/2026 13:38

I'm glad I'm not the only one who think we should have a May Starters Meet Up at @Gingercar cafe.

No introducing yourself - you have to guess who is who 🤣

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/05/2026 14:23

In a bizarre turn of events for a weight loss group, I've actually lost some weight recently!

Here's my spreadsheet:

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 23/05/2026 14:24

Or perhaps it'll appear here

and my Shotsy. I think that the knee surgery weight gain looks like a knee.

@HKG you missed our anniversary!! Hope you’re ok.

Happy belated anniversary buddy @Gingercar !!!! Sorry I missed it! Work has been unrelenting this week and we had a fundraising gala my team were delivering right on our day (rude, I know!). I’ve been sleeping ever since but! I did weigh before the gala and the gods gifted me a little boost and I was bang on 60lbs lost! Super happy!

HUGE congrats to you for busting through that plateau! And 4st 10?! You legend!!! So pleased for you!!!

feels so good to celebrate this with all
you guys!!!

HKG · 23/05/2026 16:07

@DidILeaveTheGasOn i LOVE that your Shotsy looks like a knee! 😆😆😆. You couldn’t have planned it if you tried! So edifying to see that downward trend and so close to the goal!

HKG · 23/05/2026 16:13

I’ve just realised I missed a load of messages having not clicked on the latest page - you’d think I know how this works by now after a year! Doh 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have never tried Angel Delight, having moved to the UK when I was 19, it seemed so alien to me that I feared it and never touched it. Am I missing out???

in other news, I took the boys on the Crystal Maze experience this morning and for the first time ever I DID NOT worry about not fitting or not being able to do a bit of it!

Apprenante · 23/05/2026 18:14

No - it's disgusting stuff. I realise that's a minority opinion but I AM RIGHT. 😎 😎 😎

HKG · 23/05/2026 18:32

Hahaha. I really think we need a laughing emoji for this thread. You guys are so funny!

After the last few days, I absolutely agree with you! 😬

Gingercar · 23/05/2026 22:12

I’m being very un pc and laughing like a drain at “fat biffer”.
And yes, Angel delight is revolting unless you’re a kid.

Youd be very impressed- I’ve introduced something healthy at the cafe. I thought I’d try something that someone being good might buy. And I don’t feel guilty stealing this one. Plus if it doesn’t sell I can have it for breakfast with my yogurt!

Apprenante · 23/05/2026 22:37

That looks SO nice @Gingercar . What a shame your café is about 30000 miles from London

Just needs a big splodge of Angel Delight to finish it off. Any flavour. Preferably with some undissolved powdery lumps (or perhaps that was just my mum's version?)

HKG · 24/05/2026 13:45

Anyone about today? Feeling split about what dose to inject today. I was meant to be triaging down even though I still have a stone to lose as £££. But I really care again to get down to the 150lbs which I thought I had made my peace with. So do I go down to 5mg as per the plan or do another week at 6.25mg (knowing I’m coming on this week so I won’t lose)? Answers on a postcard…

Ooooh, you are awful! 😁

Healthy pots look great, @Gingercar . Being in my Less Of A Fat Biffer stage, I would definitely choose them. In fact, I thought of you this morning- we went to a local stately home place for a walk, popped in to the cafe and there was absolutely nothing I wanted to put in my mouth, but would have cheerfully consumed some berries, were they on offer.

I’m a ‘go big or go home’ type, so would probably whack in the full 6.25mg and hope for the best.

HKG · 24/05/2026 13:52

Go big or go home - 7.5mg??? I’d puke for days probably but so tempting to just get the last stone off. Or 10mgs…

DBatteryBand · 24/05/2026 14:05

If you’re already taking 6.25, I’d stick with it…unless you fancy a spin of the nausea wheel and go for 7.5mg. It’s due to be a lovely sunny week, though. It would be a shame to miss it because your head is down the loo for most of it!

SussexLass87 · 24/05/2026 14:41

Hello all from my garden, my book and my size 12 vest top! Absolutely not a size 12 but a few bits and bobs are creeping into my wardrobe that are.

Cheering you all on for the losses, the titrating, the maintaining...all fab!

I'm excited about a BBQ later - got lovely, homemade lamb koftas and marinaded meats with salads to look forward to - just lovely fresh food. And just knowing I'll have a bit of what I fancy and that'll be it.

Hope you're all having lovely weekends in the sunshine x

Gingercar · 24/05/2026 14:53

I’ve just started my last pen. I too have well over a stone to go. I’ve been on 12.5 for 10 weeks (have often taken it a day or two late). This week I took 10mg five days late. Haven’t felt any different. I’ve decided I’d rather come down about a milligram a week and see how I go. I do have a 2.5 finale pen.

DidILeaveTheGasOn · 24/05/2026 16:52

Cautiously optimistic in my size 14 jeans. Size 16 is definitely too big, woefully so, but the size 14 are still a little tight. I'm 11 stone 11lbs now and at this weight previously a size 14 was fine. It must be because I'm not particularly mobile. The consultant might do a steroid injection into my knee, see if that helps.
Quite surprised at how big I am on my arms and legs still. I may have to keep my original goal of 10 stone, but that could take the rest of the year. Need to think about it re: £. I do feel tremendously better and can't quite believe I've lost 75lbs.

DBatteryBand · 24/05/2026 17:11

That's fabulous, @DidILeaveTheGasOn . The jeans will stretch with wear. I think it's such an amazing feeling to put on jeans that a year ago some of us wouldn't have even been able to cram an arm into, never mind put on our legs and wear to dance off down the street.

I am wearing a proper shirt today, (fancy pants linen from Boden)with buttons all the way down the front. I've never been able to wear a proper shirt before, the sort that other, normal-sized people wear, because I would keep bursting out of one, like the Hulk. Amazing.
