From Mounjaro to Wegovy and back to Mounjaro

Hi all, I don’t know if anyone else has done the same but I thought I’d post my experience. I switched to wegovy almost 2 months ago because of the mounjaro price hike. I wish I hadn’t. I’ve had almost 2 months of food noise, insatiable hunger and chronic fatigue. I’ve struggled so bad. Yes I’ve still managed to lose weight. 2lbs in 2 months lol but at least it’s something.
i’m back on the mounjaro and already starting to feel less tired, much less hungry and not constantly thinking about food and it’s a much lower dose than I took before.
One positive I did get out of this experience is that I realised that, even with the price hike mounjaro still works out cheaper (for me) than wegovy because of the ‘5th’ dose and the fact that I spend less on food with mounjaro. I’m also finding that whereas previously on mounjaro I was in a hurry to move up a dose pretty much almost every month until I reached the 15mg, I’m only on 5mg atm and having a good response so maybe I won’t need to go as high as before.
i’m interested to know if anyone else has had the same experience.

My prescriber has told me to have 5 week gap between 0.5 wegovy and first dose of 2.5mg MJ but I see other companies suggest you can start a week after last Wegovy jab.

Anyone get told the same as I did?

RelishingGrpSupport · 18/11/2025 20:58

Seems different pharmacies have different views. I went to new one when I decided to go to W to save money at a time when ready to reduce dose. I'm on this thread bcs gone back to MJ and my latest onejust let me go from 1.7 W to 12.5 MJ no issue.

Can I ask what you use and where you buy items to get the 5th dose? Many thanks

I use pliers to force the pen to twist 😄
And just use the spare needle supplied by the provider.
I’m the most cackhanded person but it’s honestly easy to do.

Does anyone want a £100 referral code for Numan? Just realised I need to reorder my pen 🙈

Hi , I have just posted my experience which sounds exactly like yours. I have not gone back to mounjaro yet I was asking for advice on the forum. Can I ask what does you were on with wegovy before moving back to mounjaro. I have moved up to 2.4g of wegovy, the first 2 days are ok although I still think of food ( unlike with mounjaro no thoughts what so ever! By day 4/5 I get the food noise and hunger. I am not sure what dose to go back to if I decide to go back with mounjaro. Hope I make sense with this !🫣

I was on the 2.4 of wegovy too. When I went back to mounjaro they made me start at 5mg 😫 (I’m with Asda) but some people have been allowed to switch back on a higher dose, it depends who your supplier is. I’m glad to be back to mounjaro. Wegovy is useless for me. Good luck with your ongoing weight loss 🥰

After six weeks of being on Wegovy and gaining around 12 pounds I am back to the weight is was in 2 1/2 months. I had to start at 2.5mg Mounjaro and now I am on 7.5mg, think I shall stay on this for another month or two as working really well. I am very pleased and feeling good

I think the problem that I had with Wegovy is that I started on the equivalent to what I was on for Mounjaro and it made me feel ill so I was snacking all the time. I have friends who changed to Wegovy but started on a lower dose and although they prefer Mounjaro they are fairly happy with it (and the cost).

Because of the cost I shall have to think about switching to Wegovy at some point (I have always been aware this is likely to be for life) and if I do I shall start at a low dose of Wegovy

Hoping soon another drug comes out to push the price of Mounjaro down

I still feel its the best thing I have ever done for my health

Yes I’m with you on that. Although my weight loss is slow I’m 9 stone down and aiming for a couple of stone more. It’s literally saved my life. I feel better than I’ve done in years. The cost of mounjaro is steep and I’ve had to make some cutbacks but I’m hoping by the end of this year I can taper off.
good luck with your weight loss🥰

That’s amazing Lillyfinks

Best of luck 😊

Wegovy was crap, I still had food noise and didn’t lose a pound. Switched back to Mounjaro today.

Same here. What a waste of money that was. It put me off track mentally. I was expecting a similar result…but nothing! I’ll never do wegovy again.
good luck going forward 🥰

Hi, sorry to hop on just wondered how you've been getting on with mounjaro after restating it?

Hi, I’m doing much better thank you. I’m in the middle of another plateau which is always tough but I’m 9 stone down now so those plateaus are to be expected. But I definitely feel fine now I’m back with mounjaro.
Have you been between mounjaro and wegovy too?

Hey,

Yes. Stopped mounjaro in september. Started wegovy in February got up to end of second pen. Didn't feel great and it did nothing so now starting mounjaro. Put on 1 1/2 stone since Christmas. Just worried mounjaros not gonna work at all this time round. I miss not thinking about food.

I’m sure things will turn around for you once you get back on mounjaro. I immediately felt the difference as soon as I went back to it even though they put me back on a lower dose than I was on before. Now I’m back where I was. Beautiful eggy burps for a day after the jab, feeling ‘meh’ about food and just generally feeling like I was. I now drink clear flavoured protein with my breakfast and have upped my collagen and am taking a multi vitamin supplement just to make sure everything is where it should be. Exercise is hard as I have limited mobility but I do try to get a little walk in everyday even if it’s just around the block and I’m using a resistance band to help with muscles.
I wish you all the best with your weight loss on mounjaro. I’m positive it’ll click back in and you’ll be back on track x

Thanks. You too. I wish I never stopped tbh. I loved my new frame. It's scary how quickly things can spiral.

I get what you mean. It’s the same with me. I’ve still got more weight to lose but I can now buy off the rack instead of having to shop at plus sized shops. I no longer get stared at. I’m still obese but I kind of blend in with everyone else if you know what I mean. I’m the lightest I’ve been in decades. I feel alive again. I don’t know if you use an app to track your food etc. I’ve been using Nutracheck for a few years now and although it’s just under £30 a year to use it’s worth every penny. It helps me track all my calories etc and even if I’ve had a day where I’ve eaten something that happens to be higher in calories than I would normally have, I find it helps me control and limit the damage as such.
