From Mounjaro to Wegovy and back to Mounjaro

Hi all, I don’t know if anyone else has done the same but I thought I’d post my experience. I switched to wegovy almost 2 months ago because of the mounjaro price hike. I wish I hadn’t. I’ve had almost 2 months of food noise, insatiable hunger and chronic fatigue. I’ve struggled so bad. Yes I’ve still managed to lose weight. 2lbs in 2 months lol but at least it’s something.
i’m back on the mounjaro and already starting to feel less tired, much less hungry and not constantly thinking about food and it’s a much lower dose than I took before.
One positive I did get out of this experience is that I realised that, even with the price hike mounjaro still works out cheaper (for me) than wegovy because of the ‘5th’ dose and the fact that I spend less on food with mounjaro. I’m also finding that whereas previously on mounjaro I was in a hurry to move up a dose pretty much almost every month until I reached the 15mg, I’m only on 5mg atm and having a good response so maybe I won’t need to go as high as before.
i’m interested to know if anyone else has had the same experience.

I’m so glad to see I’m not alone as I’ve been debating this for the last month or so. I’m going to go back to MJ, I was on 1mg wegovy so I’m thinking to get a 15mg MJ pen and start back with a 5mg dose to see how I go and then might increase to 7.5mg. Before I switched I was on 5mg but still having binging episodes, I would of increased the dose had it not been for the price hike.

My thinking is if I order a 15mg pen and use over 2 months (which I know is against manufacturer advice) but I’ve seen many are doing it on here with their pharmacies approval, then it will be more cost effective.

im down 3 stone, ideally another 6 to go but my skin is getting looser and it’s starting to stress me out a little bit 🙈

I was on the 15mg dose previously and they started me back at 5mg. But I’m all good with them starting me lower as if my body can cope with a lower dose then it saves money. Don’t get me wrong if I need to go up then I will. I’ve come too far to give up, I’m over 7 stones down in just over 18 months and still need to lose about another 6 stones.
The other thing I had with wegovy which I forgot to mention was terrible anxiety and palpitations. I was not expecting that at all. It knocked me for six.
But yes, it was as if I was injecting water too in the way of appetite suppression and food noise. I’m already back to waking up in the morning forcing myself to eat breakfast. It’s a nice feeling lol

Blimey..I suffer badly with anxiety,I'm on propropnal for it ..I don't need my anxiety getting worse..I've definitely done the right thing not taking wegovy then

I've lost over 9 stone and skin is becoming an issue..mainly under my chin ,which is very upsetting as it's visible..I've been this weight before and my neck didn't look like this ..I'm moisturising daily ..in the hope it helps

Wow 9 stone is incredible!!! Well done!!

I’ve been speaking with a local aesthetics clinic about treatment for loose skin etc, have a look into it as some of their treatments are super effective without the need for surgery. I’m going have a face to face consultation with them because I want to know if I’m past the point of non surgical help. I really don’t want any surgery at all if I can prevent it but I’m adamant once the weight is gone I’m going to walk about butt naked and feel amazing about myself 🤣

I would 100% have a face neck lift ,if I could find the money.
But not untill I'm at my goal weight

Oh god, you’ve dodged a bullet there. Not worth the risk. It may well not affect you but I definitely wouldn’t either.

I call it my shrivelled balloon under my chin. It’s not nice I know but it’s a small price to pay. 9 stone is a huge weight loss. It’s life changing. Well done!

I know. I feel the same way. If it gets a lot worse I think I might be tempted to have it done. I don’t care about the rest of the skin. I’ve started collagen supplements. Whether it’ll help I don’t know. But it’s supposed to help with elasticity of the skin. I’ll just see how it goes I guess

It's a nightmare and making me very self conscious
I must of had a lot of weight on my neck for it to go that way .
I've seen these like sticky tapes that you stick on your neck and pull the skin back towards your ears, and the wrinkles go .
But I can't remember where I saw them

That’s interesting. I’ll have to research that. I’ll try anything once. I have always had around 3-4 chins as well as a fat neck. Now I just have the 2 chins and a shrivelled balloon 😂

Necks galore

I literally haven’t heard one good thing about Wegovy 😭

JMSA · 05/11/2025 06:30

I LOVE Mounjaro but I have to say, my energy levels have never been so low!

Wow! I’m the exact opposite. Wegovy zapped me of energy but Mounjaro has made me bounce back to normal. That’s awful for you. How long have you been on MJ?

I swapped two months ago, had terrible naurea on MJ and suppression wore off after 5 days but lost 3.5 stone. Just couldnt afford to keep on it.

Was on 7.5 MJ started on 1.0 Wegovey. No side effects supression good and lasted all week.

Ive now list 4 stone, with anither 4 to go. Will stick with Wegovy.

Well done you! I’m so glad the swap worked for you. That’s brilliant. I don’t know about you but when I started I felt I had an impossible mountain to climb to get to where I want to be with my weight. Now I’m over halfway all of a sudden it seems well within my reach. Good luck with reaching your target.

My experience is the same, I started Wegovy on 15th September and weigh the same now as I did then. I have felt ill, constipation, loose stools, heartburn and fatigue. I had no side effects with MJ. The hunger was off the scale, not normal at all, it woke me from sleep. I was having the same calories as before 1600 to 1700 daily but my weight just went up and down the same 2 pounds.

Have ordered MJ 2.5 and hope I can get back on track to lose...my BMI is still at 33

I use a 5mg pen for 2.5mg. I keep in fridge. It means it’s used after 30 days but I’m ok with that risk.

marvellousmaplesyrup · 06/11/2025 20:17

I lost 3 stone on Mounjaro, steadily over a year. Swapped over to Wegovy at the beginning of September because of the price increase, and I’ve put a stone on in 2 months. Honestly, I’m so gutted - it’s like I’m injecting water. Still going to the gym three times a week and eating healthily but the food noise is intolerable. I’m constantly starving.

Reluctantly going back to MJ.

StephT1 · 06/11/2025 21:43

Close friend of mine used Wegovy and lost 3 stone and reached her target weight and looks great for it. She never went above 1.7 dose.

I signed up pretty much on her recommendation and am currently into my 3rd month and have reached the 1.0 dose.

I can honestly say that it has had absolutely no impact whatsoever. No change in appetite or food noise and also no side effects. If someone told me I’d been taking a placebo all along I’d believe them.

Really not sure whether to persevere through to the 2.4 top dose and see if that works or to switch to MJ now and cut my losses with Wegovy.

Any advice?

I absolutely feel your pain. I feel like I wasted 2 months and £400. I’m back on mounjaro and although my previous dose of mounjaro was 15mg I’ve had to start back on it at 5mg and build my dose back up. But I’m having a decent response so may not have to go much higher this time.
good luck with the switchback and hopefully you’ll get that stone back off soon.

Honestly if it’s having no effect whatsoever I’d cut your losses and try mounjaro. A lot of people have had tremendous success on Wegovy. It did nothing at all for me either. I was so hungry. It was gutting. I couldn’t justify spending the money any more on wegovy with it not working so I had to go back to MJ.
If you do decide to switch to MJ I hope you get on really well with it. I know I have. Good luck!

I’m on my 6th week of wegovy, the first three I had cravings, sudden hunger and constant nausea. Feel it’s working better in the last two weeks but I have put on weight about 6lbs

Im returning to Mounjaro and contacting pharmacy tomorrow it’s just not working

BigTightropeWalker · 07/11/2025 23:33

I’m in exactly the same boat as you @Lillyfinks!
Switched to Wegovy 2 months ago and have had days where I’m pretty much obsessed with food, and have even gained a few pounds (maybe 3?), so that’s a monumental waste of both time and money. I’m waiting for a delivery of Mounjaro to restart it again. It’s being paid for out of savings which I’m a bit gutted about, but it works and I want to be a healthy weight. I was on 12.5 before and I have to restart at 7.5, but I’ll suck it up. I’ve also spent loads of money on extra snacks over the last 2 months, so at least that’ll be a saving! I wish I hadn’t switched to Wegovy at all - things were going so well 😕

Oh that’s really not good for you. I think you get to a point where you say enough. You shouldn’t have any trouble switching back though. I think the pharmacies are seeing a lot of this. You’ll soon have that 6lbs gone again. Good luck!
