Was thinking this through over the last few days and I was think gosh I can’t wait until I can sit with my legs crossed easily or not feel so much underarm fat when shaving!

Sounds simple but was it was inspiring me to keep going and I thought maybe there’s other things we can look forward to other than the fitting into clothes/ feeling more positive about how we look.

Help inspire me ! what are you looking forward to being able to do or feel?
or for those further long with your progress what have been the surprising benefits you’ve noticed?

I’m mid weight loss journey. I have a belt that has about 8 inches between the loosest and tightest loop that I’ve worn for years. I’m on the smallest notch now and shrinking out of that belt will feel like a huge milestone! I also have lots of nice clothes I haven’t fit for a long time and the thought of wearing them again keeps me going

frogpigdonkey · 26/05/2025 23:59

Also sitting in train and plane seats and not feeling squished in

StartingApril2025 · 27/05/2025 00:06

@frogpigdonkey ah that’s amazing, what a milestone, you’re doing brilliant!
yes the worry of travel and will the belt be tight etc!!

Oh and also seeing a collar bone for first time in many years if it is still under there 😂
also hoping my fingers slim a bit so I can get my rings on/ off without having to worry about the circulation to my fingers cutting off in the process!

My knees not popping and clicking when I go up the stairs.

RosaBaby2 · 27/05/2025 01:02

Playsuits, jumpsuits, tucking my top in to my jeans, and not needing plane seat belt extender!

morbidcuriosity · 27/05/2025 01:24

Haha, the 3 things you have said that im amazed at.. im further along.. 6 stone 3lb down, 10lb to go... and sitting with my legs crossed.. i do it all the time now.
and the arm pits.. who knew they caved inwards lol.. and yes loving the collar bones showing..

fresh99 · 27/05/2025 02:28

I’m 7 stone down now and for the first time ever I can do that thing where I cross my legs and hook my foot under my other leg if that makes sense. It’s not even that comfy but I can’t help doing it. Also taking the seat next to the stranger on the plane and not worrying about taking up their space. waking up and wearing what I want rather than what fits is also amazing. Keep going everyone it really is worth it!

fatgirlswims · 27/05/2025 06:19

Ive lost 3 stone so far and I was very happy when I realised that my towel now “fits”!

tryingtobesogood · 27/05/2025 06:53

I’m flying soon so the plane seat really resonated - not just fitting better in my seat but the seatbelt doing up easier. I also commute and I am taking up less space in the seats which is great.

putting on clothes and knowing they fit, being able to wear shorter tops, not tunics to cover my tummy. But most of all, being able to take up running, I’m not there yet but getting closer.

Wallywobbles · 27/05/2025 07:11

I’ve only lost 3 stone and weirdly nothing at all for months but still changing shape. Walking for miles with no foot pain has been amazing.

Thejugglestruggle · 27/05/2025 12:34

I'm 6 stone down and hoping to lose another stone.
It really has affected every aspect of my life.
Swimming in the sea with my kids, rather than sat on the beach pretending I don't want to join in.
Walking around and general fitness level.
Not thinking about whether a plastic chair might take my weight or not.
Shopping in any shop I like, even Zara.
Making an effort with my makeup, hair, perfume etc...before I think I felt, what was the point?!
Booking 'active holidays' either friends and not worrying I won't be able to complete the challenges/keep up with people.

Just a few off the top of my head. Losing weight was harder, but being stones and stones overweight was so much harder.

AmateurNoun · 27/05/2025 12:50

Getting my wedding and engagement rings back on permanently. I stopped wearing them due to pregnancy weight gain about 7 years ago. I have been able to wear them at my lowest post-pregnancy weights but my weight would yo-yo up and they would get too tight.

This time I think I will be able to sustain the loss. I need to lose about another stone and get back to about BMI 24 for them to fit (started at BMI 30 and currently BMI 26).

MounjaroMounjaro · 27/05/2025 13:02

@Thejugglestruggle There are a lot of Zara clothes on Vinted - have a look! If you're interested there's one particular seller whose clothes are always really good. It's not me, honest!

Redlightbulb · 27/05/2025 20:22

— Purchasing & wearing nice clothes. I have been so used to buying something that I don’t 100% like but making do just because it fits & buying cheaper clothes as I always had in the back of my mind that I was going to lose the weight so didn’t want to buy quality stuff
— Generally moving on with my life. Been either on a diet or stuffing my face since I was 18 and feel it has held me back. I need to build up my self esteem. I want to feel attractive & fit. I know losing weight does not fix these things but it sure helps.

beachreader · 27/05/2025 20:55

Seeing myself in photos and not thinking oh god look at my arms/chin etc!

Disturbia81 · 27/05/2025 21:03

I lost mine years ago but this is how I still feel.. Just not thinking of my weight every second of every day. Knowing no-one is looking at me thinking god she’s fat. Constantly adjusting my clothing. Being so relaxed, putting whatever clothes I want on and heading out of the door without a care in the world and a smile on my face.

SilenceInside · 27/05/2025 21:03

I looked forward to being able to buy clothes from pretty much any shop and choose what I genuinely like, rather than the thing I hated the least from what was available in size 22, 24 and so on.

Also, seeing my reflection whilst out and about and not feeling horrified. And not being the largest person at any place that I went to. Fitting comfortably on public transport seats, or cinema/theatre/restaurant seats too.

Being able to spend a whole day out and about walking without being in pain or needing to stop and rest.

frogpigdonkey · 27/05/2025 21:10

The clothes thing really resonates. I look t some of the clothes I bought at my biggest and honestly they are self hate made out of fabric! The only criteria was that they covered me, not whether they looked good or I liked them. I’m at a weird point now because I don’t want to buy for the weight I am now because I’m expecting to keep losing (hurrah for WLI) but even my nicer clothes are looking baggy. I’m so looking forward, not to wearing ‘look at me’ clothes but not wearing ‘don’t look at me’ clothes!

Lovetoridemybicycle · 27/05/2025 21:16

Going on activities like roller coasters without worrying about fitting, high ropes courses, segways, zip lines. I used to love these things and hoping to get back to them. (I'm in my 50's and planning on ageing disgracefully!)
My interim weight loss goals are based on maximum weights for various things!

StartingApril2025 · 27/05/2025 23:47

Ah so so many of these resonate, from the feelings, confidence levels ,the look of clothes and the mindset shift too! A great inspiration to keep in mind, thank you all and wishing everyone the best in their weight loss journey or for those further down the line congratulations on your achievements and hope you are enjoying all the benefits losing weight has brought you!

I'm almost where I want to be. Things I was looking forward to:

Not hating and deleting all photos. I didn't really see me as overweight as I was in the mirror, but looked horrible in all photos or videos. There are barely any photos of me with my DC for several years - how sad is that?

Wearing nice clothes that flatter me, actually looking good, instead of wearing whatever more or less fits and best hides the rolls.

Sports! How easy is running now, or push-ups!

Not holding my stomach in. I'm pretty sure I've given myself flared ribs doing that for years. Now I can relax, walk around normally and nobody is asking when I'm due.

And health - need to have a little surgery, and the consultant said several times that this type of surgery is a lot easier on slim people like me. Slim like me. Never thought anyone would describe me as slim ever again.

Pumpkinforever · 28/05/2025 08:52

Bet that was the best feeling @HeavyHeidi when the consultant said that.

I am looking forward to trips when the organisers are not having to rummage out the extra extra large safety kit / life jacket. And being able to get into a hammock without worrying about it holding my weight.

ANutAsBigAsABoulder · 28/05/2025 08:57

I’m looking forward to having leg-shaped legs again after putting a large amount of weight on around my thighs and knees - it’s limited what I wear and what I’m comfortable doing for long enough.

Icedcaramelfrappe · 28/05/2025 10:44

Being able to buy a size 10 in any shop and it gliding on. No more squeezing into an 18 and trying to avoid looking at the label
